How about what I drew? If not legal, then forgo the shield spell and put him where he could avoid targeting her (2 squares north east of his current location).

Purepurin looks up, embarrassed and determined. "Okay, so the boss might be out right now. But don’t worry, her schedule is very flexible, and I can summon her back, easy! All I need is a jug of fond remembrance, a ghost courier fulu, and a hippogriff in a jar. You all get the fulu and the jar, they’re back in the vaults you came from."

You must collect the required artifacts to summon Valashinaz in time for the meeting, but face obstacles that slow you down. You overcome obstacles by earning Obstacle Points (OP) with skill checks.

sure - I think the only time I've seen it not apply is if it's used to roll downtime. But as defined, it can be used :)
