Knowledge, Geography Do I know where Xak Tsaroth is?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Ahto listens to the man's story, taking in the information he shares.

Drakkor Redmane |

Both intrigued and worried, Drakkor leans closer to the plains-people to speak softly.
”You have been to the pre-Cataclysm city of Xak Tsaroth?”
He barely moves his muzzle toward the odd staff, then continues almost whispering.
”Is that where you picked up that staff? Where did you find it exactly? I saw it in an old book once myself. You must have journeyed deep into the ruins to see that particular statue. You need to be very careful! There are people looking for you….”
He glances around a little nervous now. The situation was beginning to spiral out of control…

Drakkor Redmane |

Looking confused for a moment, Drakkor questions what he heard…
”A lady in white…? In a ruined city? Gave you the staff?”
Suddenly he grabs the table as realization hits him.
”You mean the STATUE gave you the staff?”
Something highly unusual is happening!

EltonJ |

Is anything going on with the wizards?
Not yet, but soon.
Looking confused for a moment, Drakkor questions what he heard…

Suddenly he grabs the table as realization hits him.
”You mean the STATUE gave you the staff?”
Something highly unusual is happening!
"No, a lady in white," says Riverwind. "It only works for Goldmoon, though."

Drakkor Redmane |

Drakkor closes his eyes, mild pain showing in his face.
”Works? It is…magical then? My understanding was it…was supposed to be made of some sort of crystal.”

Crack-jawed Ahto |

”In my limited experience with magic, it is capable of making an object either invisible or to seem like something other than itself. Perhaps the magic of the staff is protecting it from being seen by others?” Ahto speculates quietly.

Lyzannder |

Lyzander gives a short, almost embarrassed smile. I recently passed my Test and won the White Robes, which I wear with pride. Magic is such a wonderful gift from the 3 Cousins. The balance is necessary but using magic to help and defend is one of the best uses of Magic, according to the dictums of Solinari. I do love history and theology, Grandfather, so I paid attention in my schooling to these things. The Qualanessti still have priests of the E'li, Quen Illumini, and of course, may only wear the White Robes. Their prayers go unheeded.

At that moment, some goblins stormed into the Inn. "We are looking for the blue crystal staff!" one exclaims.

Drakkor Redmane |

Drakkor hisses lightly.
"We dealt with these idiots before. Keep that staff as much out of sight as possible."
Standing to his full height, he then walks over towards the goblins, thudding his driftwood staff loudly on the wooden floor.
"It's not made of crystal, but you can have mine if you will leave all of us and the Inn with peace, and let us eat and drink without more interruptions."

Varis Duskbane |

Varis listened quietly to the discussion of the mage and the elder, followed somewhat the talk with the barbarians, not really interested.
But they were invited at their table and as guests had some right, just as he had obligations.
"Worry not. You are safe here. Do not react, do not interfere."
He stands up, leaning on the table as he drinks from his mug hiding the staff with his bulk. And accidentally being ready to fight.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Ahto looks over the group of goblins to see if this is the same group as they met on the road. If so, he looks for their leader. If not, he singles out the goblin in nearest the group.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

"These are the same ones who bothered us earlier today, just without their boss," Ahto mutters under his breath to the others.

(Study target: nearest goblin)
You're study is successful. "Hand over the blue crystal staff to us, and no harm will come to you," promises the nearest goblin.
The wizard will put his hands in a spell pouch, ready to cast a spell if needed.
Riverwind draws an interesting looking sword. "You'll have to go through me," he warns.

Drakkor Redmane |

Drakkor sighs heavily.
"You will wish you had chosen better words. Words matter..."
He then quickly steps forward and slams his staff into the floor and does a broad spin, trying to clip the closest goblin's chin with his foot. He then twists, spins, and tries it again with a complete 360 movement that flashes by faster than most people realize!
Full Flurry ATTACK(Unarmed - NONLETHAL -Surprise?)

Crack-jawed Ahto |

And here we go... Ahto thinks, as he sees the minotaur move to engage the goblins.

Yes, surprise round. Real combat begins after everyone has a turn during the surprise round and has . . . ahem . . . rolled initiative. That's if you want to.
HOWEVER, rolling initiative isn't a good idea for a Play-by-Post campaign. To keep things moving I want everyone to post their turn first. Then I'll post my turn. I go last. That way, I can keep track of initiative rounds.
Surprise Round
Note Drakkor and Ahto have already posted.

Drakkor Redmane |

Drakkor coughs out a rebuff as he holds his staff in a defensive posture.
”Certain actions are almost inevitable my friend: I merely moved with the stream rather than try to climb the mountain!”

EltonJ |

"I thought you are the peaceful one, Drakkor."
Varis charges the nearest goblin he can.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Ouch! You managed to hit one of them. Same with Drakkor. You both brain two goblins. As for Ahto, I have to know. Did you do non-lethal damage or lethal damage?
As Lyzannder move the old man and the child towards the back door, Kellandra Voss takes up a flanking position behind the goblins. Bracing herself between the doorway and the goblins.
Surprise Round Over!
Round One begins.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

As for Ahto, I have to know. Did you do non-lethal damage or lethal damage?
Non-lethal, for now.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Ahto suppresses the urge to draw his weapons and slaughter the goblins. While he knows they deserve it, the consequences to the innkeeper and the people of Solace would be dire.
He moves forward, fists raised, and wades into the goblins.

EltonJ |

Was waiting on Varis, but he did make an action, so now it's my turn
MY TURN!
With one goblin brained, there are five active left, and they begin to fan out with their attacks.
One targets Lyzannder, the same one who asked about the Blue Crystal Staff. He spends his action closing in on Lyzannder.
Another attacks Varis. Goblin attack with dagger using weapon focus: 1d20 ⇒ 3; goblin damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
One Goblin engages Drakkor! goblin attack with dagger using weapon focus: 1d20 ⇒ 19; goblin damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Riverwind goes in front of Goldmoon to protect her. He has his unusual sword drawn.
Ahto is tussling with a goblin armed with a javelin. goblin attack with javelin: 1d20 ⇒ 16; goblin damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
another goblin engages Kellendra, but gets a face full of frying pan thanks to Tika Waylan.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Ahto continues to rain fists of fury upon the goblin.
Brawler's Flurry, non-lethal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Critical Hit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Plus this much more if critical is successful: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Brawler's Flurry, second strike non-lethal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Drakkor Redmane |

With another heavy sigh, Drakkor engages his attacker.
Full Flurry ATTACK(Punch/Kick)

Bludgeoning/Magic/Non-lethal: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 3 = 9
+ Flurry
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Bludgeoning/Magic/Non-lethal: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13

Varis Duskbane |

Varis slips behind one goblin, trying to get it between him and one of his companions for advantage.
He doesn't attack like the monks in a flurry of swings, he goes in holding one arm close, almost like a shield, his stance wide with back and arms creating a round shape that looks slow and impractical.
But it gives him space to move his body within the frame of the arms, a bit of roundness in the back offers plenty of armor surface for weapons to only glance of. And his attacks are studious. Slow, almost.
Certainly in this one case as the goblin ducks under the swing of the heavily armored arm.
Attack; Damage: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 121d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 - didn't include flanking since I don't know who is still standing or if it possible to get into flank

Varis, you can include flanking. All, except two, are still standing.

MY TURN!
The goblins move out to attack.
Lyzannder's goblin attacks with a dagger again. Goblin attack with dagger and power attack, damage: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 41d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

End Round 2
Begin Round 3

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Seeing that the tavern brawl was now full-on combat, Ahto decides to no longer pull his punches. He begins aiming for the liver, kidneys, temples, and throats of the goblins.
Brawler's Flurry, LETHAL, First Strike: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Drakkor Redmane |

Lyzannder wrote:"What?"The wizard will keep up his actions to distract the goblin. He will state the following in Goblin to his foe.
Goblins are not known for their accuracy when it comes to fighting one on one. You are a proud retainer of such a legacy.
Between breaths, Drakkor clarifies.
”You…SUCK.”
Then he strikes again and again.

Varis Duskbane |

"I'm ashamed I missed one! Don't make it hard for me too, wizard!"
Varis pants as he swings again and the wily thing ducks again too low for his heavy armor to follow
Attack; Damage: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 131d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Last round result was 14 total with flanking, so maybe a hit? I'm narrating two misses though :)

Yeah, it's a hit.
My turn!
Varis has seriously injured a goblin. There are two goblins left. One is stunned, and can't attack (the one Drakkor has pummeled), Ahto has missed his goblin. So he attacks!
goblin power attack Ahto and damage: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 171d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
