A Shining Planet Known as Golarion

Game Master rando1000

Looking for 2-3 players for a new PBP. It's basically a shameless rip-off of Battlestar Galactica's main plot, mashed up with Starfinder/Pathfinder. Characters will start at 3rd level; probably they will end up being independents with their own ship doing missions for the Council. Most normal Starfinder or Pathfinder (with conversions) races would be acceptable.

The story takes place in a distant part of the galaxy where multiple alien species live on several colony worlds known collectively as the Diasporum. These colonies were founded a thousand generations ago; legend says they descended from a tribe of intinerants originating on a planet called Golarion.

For several generations, the Diasporum have been at war with the Cyleerin, a race of cybernetic beings originally created by a species that died out long ago. The Aleerin, seeing the Diasporum as a threat to their sovereignty, seek to exterminate them completely.

The story begins just months after the Diasporum worlds were viciously betrayed to the point of near-complete destruction. The war against the Cyleerin was lost, leaving the fleets of the Diasporum in ruins.

A single refugee fleet, lead by the one surviving Battle Cruiser, makes its way slowly across the cosmos. Under the guidance of the Council of Absalom, it seeks the legendary origin point of the Disasporum, the shining planet known as Golarion.

With the word "Aleerin" in there, one must ask, are we talking like the Mechalus from Alternity?

Yeah, you've sussed out where I stole my antagonist name from. I hadn't necessarily assigned much meaning to it other than that. I'd replaced it with "Cyleerin" in two instances but missed one. They're basically my stand-in for Cylons.

DUDE! Run an old school Alternity game then! Star*Drive preferably!

Interesting

I have one player already who's been with me for several games on here; he's pretty flexible about what role he takes in the party. Looking for at least two more. Game could either be run as private contractors doing missions for the fleet, or if the players prefer, as a military unit of some sort.

Any takers?

I have limited experience with Starfinder. The one or two games I joined died quickly. That said, if you don't mind having a relative newb along while I move up the learning curve... I would enjoy dusting off (and leveling up) this Ysoki Mercenary-with-a-heart-of-gold Soldier/Sniper for a romp with the "ragtag fugitive fleet searching for a home".

I think his backstory is still solid, just need to change the place names.

So I assume the base races of Pathfinder Core and Starfinder Core?

I'm giving wide latitude on this one, though the PCs might be rare examples of their race within the fleet. The one player I have is going human, so we'll have at least one of those.

From Starfinder, any race from Core Rules, Pact Worlds, or the Alien Archives should be workable.

From Pathfinder, anything 15 RP or less (any of the Core races plus Aasimar (15 RP), Catfolk (9 RP), Dhampir (11 RP), Drow (14 RP version),
Fetchling (17 RP), Goblin (10 RP), Hobgoblin (9 RP), Ifrit (6 RP), Kobold (5 RP), Orc (8 RP), Oread (8 RP), Sylph (6 RP), Tengu (13 RP), Tiefling (13 RP), Undine (7 RP))

I'll entertain other options as well. Best kept to Small/Medium, or the smaller side of Large at biggest.

sounds great. No problem at all with your level of experience. One of the nice things about Play by Post is there's plenty of time to look stuff up and ask questions.

So, like your other friend, I'm good with playing "whatever the group needs," but I need to know what that is.

Any help in that direction?

Probably have to wait to see what Critzible wants, if he's in. Seems like

Burlap 'LongTail' is closest to having a character nailed down. I'd guess he plays well a gunner aboard a starship, and a sniper/general warrior in ground combat.

With that, I'd expect the other guy to choose one of his two pilots (one is an operative, the other a mechanic).

That leaves more gunners, engineer, science officer, captain regarding the main ship roles, and Envoy or one of the magic classes wide open. but doubling up on Soldier or Operative is never a bad idea either.

Roger that. Well, I'm interested.

If your buddy is the pilot type, great.

I could play a Captain/LT/Officer/Envoy type, if needed for a military group, or a ship's crew. However that goes. Probably do it as a melee build.

Or, I could do either of the caster classes, if it is believed those are needed for the game. Although, my experience has been that casters in this game are "needed when they are needed, and useless when they aren't."

Or, I can just be a gearhead/geek type.

Really, whatever is needed.

Maybe we can talk Critz into being a cute little Gnome Healer, hahaha. Nahh, he's covering that niche in another game we're in together.

Yep, Burlap will be a gunner and jr. grease monkey, if needed, aboard ship. I should have an updated version of him up by tomorrow. I’m assuming WBL of 4000 credits, and no gear above level 4. Does that sound about right?

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Roger, so no gearhead needed from me.

I’m not jonesing to be the Face, to make that clear! Glad to do one of the spell caster classes.

I could try my hand at a Vesk Mechanic

Sort of a scaly Chewbacca!

Grand Lodge

Yep, though not sure if I want to go Roboticist or tinkerer... She will probably be focused on weapons and ships weapons and defense.

Kinda want a Rosey the Riveter, meets Chewbacca, meets Rocket Raccoon

Assuming we get WBL for 3rd, Burlap is done except for tweaking his backstory. If it looks like I've done something wrong, please let me know.

Thanks!

I'm thinking of a Suli Solarian.

I can't comment on caster viability because I haven't seen one used, but I've played through almost the entirety of Dawn of Flame without one and it's been fine.

The only SF character I've played is a heavy weapons/powered armor mechanic. Tons of fun.

In terms of the world, are the Cyleerin a purely android or mechanical race?

Burlap's backstory is done.

I'm leaning toward yes, at least to the best of your knowledge. There may be remnants of their creators in charge in the homeworld, but none your people have encountered in generations.
