Perrine discusses the price with the merchant. ”I think we’d be interested but that is quite a high price, you know. For a more fair price, we might take a few off your hands.”

"Thank you, thank you! A pleasure doing business with you."
Anyone who wants to buy a jelly or anything else in the bazaar can.
The Pathfinders move on, and are eventually able to make their way to the address given. There, they find a water-filled entrance tunnel that leads to Tsomo's home; it appears his entire residence is filled with water, and is connected to Vialesk's water-filled areas on one side and the air filled areas the pathfinders have been traveling on this side.
It is 12:30 by the time the Pathfinders reach the home.

If any PC doesn't have the 20 GP to buy one let me know and Gaius will buy an extra one.
Gaius also accepts the offer, "Thank you for your assistance friend. Now if only someone knew what happened to the Sonophone..."

Is there any kind of 'door bell'?
Gaius Marius
|
"Or it's time to use the jellyfish."
@GM: How long is the tunnel from where the water begins to the door?
| GM 7thGate |
The Pathfinders apply their newly purchased Jellyfish. The sensation is odd, but effective; they each have a fresh bowl of air around their head to breathe.
The door is unlocked, and opens into a room filled with corals and schools of colorful fish. The room is otherwise sparsely furnished: a chest of clothes is wedged into the south wall, a carved stone desk sits on the floor, and a large saltwater tank extends from the east wall. The saltwater tank is filled with a variety of marine life, most notably a small host of bamboo and bonnethead sharks. Each of these sharks has a series of notches on its fins in slightly different patterns.
Noone seems to be home.
Gaius Marius
|
Gaius studies the sharks to see if the notches on the fins are the same as the sharks at the shop.
@GM: Take 10 on Perception for a 23.
Gaius Marius
|
The notches look similar, but vary some in spacing and pattern.
Okay just different than the ones in the store or from each other as well?
Gaius Marius
|
Dare finds a hidden compartment in the desk. It is not locked, but appears to be trapped with a crude mechanism of some kind.
DC 15 disable device to disable the trap.
Does any PC have Disable Device?

Gaius will point this out for the rest of the group, "Someone is lying. If these were marks of ownership they wouldn't be different from the ones in the store let alone different from one another. These marks mean something else."
When he learns of the trap, "We need to find this fool immediately."
Gaius Marius
|
Dare will point out the trap. I don’t have disable device but have a +4. Can I roll untrained and use his tools for repairing his gun?
No. Disable Device is a "trained only" skill meaning your PC has to have at least 1 rank in the skill to attempt it.

Okay group the GM has given his ruling on the trap. We should make a decision and move forward since the last post was Thursday.
Nodding at Patros, "Agreed. Although we'll need to buy more jellyfish, or just hold our breaths, we can return here later. We've learned these notches on the shark fins are not what we were told. If anything we could go back to the shop and confront them with this evidence. Or we go to the next stop on our list."
Gaius Marius
|
“Let’s check the next stop out and comeback to just trigger the trap. I’m pretty quick with my hands.” Dare said
Patros referred to this item: Skeleton Key And I think he wants to check the marketplace to see if we can find one after the next scheduled stop in our investigation.

Apologies, I had a very busy weekend and wasn't able to dedicate the time to keep things moving here. Looking over the notes for the areas, I also see I missed an item here to investigate.
In addition to the trapped drawer, the Pathfinders find a set of beaded strings arranged in a variety of patterns.

@GM: I'm guessing the answer is 'Yes' but I would suspect Gaius would need to leave the water to read a scroll of Comprehend Languages?
Gaius tells the others, "I do have a scroll which will briefly allow me to read the writing on this bead. Unless someone else knows this language?"
Does any PC have Linguistics trained?
Gaius Marius
|
Gaius retrieves a scroll, reads it, and then reads the message on the beads.
Int check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
@GM: We'll see if any PC has Linguistics trained or a better Int check so I have *not* opened the 2nd spoiler tag.
Gaius says, "It's financial records although I can't quite make out the exact details. They didn't cover bookkeeping and accounting in the Temple of Hathor. Anyone else have any idea?"
Gaius can translate the language but lacks Linguistics to decipher any other meaning and didn't hit a 15 on his Int check.
Gaius Marius

Ouch if you add up the rolled numbers for all 3 of us we still wouldn't hit the 15 DC. Perrine and Doc are our last hopes.
Gaius Marius
|
Dare doesn’t have linquistics
You can still attempt a DC 15 Intelligence check. You're the party's last hope - you can do it! :)

Go for it! If you don't get it, you guys can look at maybe seeing who might be able to help you interpret it.
Either the brine dragon or if Lileone is close by or stopping by Zahra's to ask them.
With no one able to glean information from the beads Gaius says, "Let's see if Lileone is nearby. If not we'll see who is closer between the brine dragon or Zahra and ask them for their help. I wish we had some means of transporting these sharks with us. I have a feeling these notches mean more than we've been told if only we knew what kind of code they're using."
@GM: Rules question: Since Gaius read his scroll of Comprehend Languages can he now understand what the notches mean? Under the description for the spell it's a bit contradictory. While stating "You can understand the spoken words of creatures or read otherwise incomprehensible written messages. The ability to read does not necessarily impart insight into the material, merely its literal meaning." So I'm not sure it would work for the notches. Alternatively can Gaius make some type of check to remember the notches on the sharks here and then make notes/drawings of them when they get back to air?
