Valtyra sighs and shakes her head. "It appears my companions are having a wee bit of trouble striking you. Which is both lucky and unlucky for you."

She speaks a few arcane words and points at the Fetchling once more. Three arrows of pure force fly forth unerringly to strike the creature.

Spending 1 point of Arcane Reservoir to add +1 to my caster level. Casting Magic Missile.

Damage:Force: 3d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) + 3 + 3 = 12

On Time Out

Like I said, Magic Missiles don't care about how dodgy one is. It just go BOOM BOOM BOOM "Ouch Ouch Ouch!" as missiles exploded on the fetchling.

"Don't let me catch you!"(he is stuck in corner) the fetchling directs his hateful speech to the arcanist.

On Time Out

"F*!*ing mages!" The fetchling curses as he is bombarded by magic missiles. He steps up and launches a flurry of punches at the sorcerer.

Thanks to Valena's evil evil pretty eyes, the fetchling's defense is lowered, and Kaz's hammer finally lands on the target. BONK!

Still cackling like she's at the puppet show after a few drinks, Valena steps to her right, draws a Harrow card from her deck and infuses it with crackling electricity, and hurls it at the fetching!

I believe the square she has stepped into has a clear shot with no cover, but if you disagree and there's another square she could have gone into instead without cover, she'd step there instead.

Gavirius casts yet one more spell that sends five projectiles of pure arcane energy towards the fetchling.

magic missile (wrong, ignore): 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 1, 3) + 5 = 17
magic missile (correct): 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) + 3 = 10

On Time Out

With a accurate Shocking card throw and more magic missile bombardment, the fetchling finally drops dead on the ground.

Combat Over!

The 10-foot-tall black stone pyramid exudes an eerie black essence from its apex, which seeps into the air and slowly dims the illumination of the room (but not enough to change the mechanical light level). Surrounding the relic’s apex are a dozen bloodstones set into the rock face, from which a strong aura of conjuration and illusion emanates.

DC 20 Knowledge (arcana):
You believe that removing or destroying the bloodstones should end the effect and sufficiently sabotage the device to prevent future use.

The ceremonial dagger the fetchling was preparing for the ritual is long and dark, with a sinister curved blade. There are runes in Infernal alongside it's blade.

Infernal:
The runes speak of the Midnight Lord, and a sacrifice that will bring shadow to the multiverse.
DC12 Knowlege Religion:
You recognizes these as references to Zon-Kuthon, god of darkness, pain, and loss.

Akkina casts a spell of magic detection upon the newly discovered items.

On Time Out

The dagger itself is not magical, while the black obelisk radiates some strong magic aura.

Valtyra looks at the bloodstones as she ponders what they do.

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

"If we remove or destroy the bloodstones that should cause its effects to cease."

She also looks the writing on the dagger and attempts to decipher the unfamiliar language.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23

"The runes speak of the "Midnight Lord" and a sacrifice that will bring shadow to the multiverse. I do believe it is very good that we stopped whatever the Fetchling had planned here."

On Time Out

Valtyra knows that the runes on the dagger has no real effect besides proclaiming to others that "I love being edgy and I'm going to kill for it". The ceremonial dagger itself could probably fetch a good price on the market for its nice construction and material though.

The room is still gloomy and the two ladies, the Blakros ladies specifically, are still in trance. What would you like to do?

"Fasincating" says Valena, clearly outmatched in the arts arcane.

"Let's remove those bloodstones then. Unless anyone objects?"

Not wanting to tempt fate, she uses her own dagger instead of the edgy infernel one to start popping bloodstones from their place set into the rock.

On Time Out

Removing the stones requires a DC 15 Disable Device check for each stone. Alternatively, brute force might also work?

I am not very good at fidgeting, but I could help with my spear if we decide to destroy them.

Damage 1d8+3 minus whatever hardness the bloodstones may have.

On Time Out

Hardness 5, HP20 each. There are a dozen of them.
While Kaz struggled to move the stone, Gavirius managed cracks one of the bloodstones. To no one's surprise, the bloodstones do not fight back. You have plenty of time to smash each and every one of them, if you wish to.

We can handwave the smashing process if you want to destroy them now

Does that help our trancified ladies?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
On Time Out

The moment you destroy the bloodstones, the transposition of the Material and Shadow Planes instantly ends, and reality snaps back to normal. The room go back to normal-looking museum gallery, as the Blakros Museum you expected. The implements of that unspeakable rituals, vats of unidentifiable liquids, rune-etched stone idols, and a massive summoning circle surrounding the central dais, all disappeared from the room. Gone with them are the fetchling's dead body.

When the planar overlay ends, Eleanir and Michellia Blakros awaken from their trance, dazed and disoriented. "Ah, my head...." they grunts in headaches, "....let me guess, mother calls for our life insurance policy the Pathfinders?" After they managed to regain their strength and stand up, the ladies shake hands with each of you in gratitude, "Thank you very much for rescuring us, brave Pathfinders. I couldn't imagine what would happen if you are not here tonight. We will make sure our family know about your bravery here, and that you're properly compensated."

Everything in the Blakros Museum returns to their normal appearance in the Material Plane. That unfortunately includes the bathroom, now is only the bathroom, and the two branded slaves are no where to be found. The three unbranded one are still in the bathroom, and now free of their boundages.

Hamaria is incredibly grateful for the return of her daughters, granting you the rare privilege of keeping any loot you may have uncovered while in the museum, and turning a blind eye to the fact that some of that loot may have actually belonged to the collection itself. Since you destroyed the Wightir Conjunction, the Blakros family feels secure in their freedom from the Penumbral Accords. In this case, in thanks to the Pathfinder Society, the Blackros family offers even closer collaboration between their museum and the Society on future endeavors.

THE END
Congratulations, you have successfully finished, or should I say, terminated, the Penumbral Accords. You've made the Blakros family very happy, and they will maintain the steady flow of gold into Pathfinder Society's donation box.
