Sorry for the delay. I attended a local con over the weekend and came back to a rough Monday.
Did Savan's RK check reveal anything? Dubious Knowledge should give him something even on a fail.
Although I will often do the secret checks, there didn't seem to be much point in this case given the nature of the foe. The DC to Identify the mice was posted earlier. [ooc]They have no other notable attacks, defenses, or abilities.
Zdenek and Savan bring down one mouse. Artemios manages to defeat the other.
COMBAT OVER
"Well done! Well done!" Sweeper cheers.
With the threat of the mice now gone, the party has plenty of time to conduct a search of their remains and of the room. However, there is nothing of interest to be found among either.
Looking at the mice, each about the size of the Poppet, Sweeper inquires, "Any ideas on how to tidy up this place? And to dispose of these bodies?"
I have 1 vote to move to area A5. One more vote for area A5 or two more votes for a different area moves us to the next encounter.

GM Valen |

The clatter of pots and pans echoes around the room as the bustle of a one-person kitchen rings out. The sting of fresh onions assaults the nose. A wooden toy poppet in a white chef’s hat and apron busies herself with preparing a large meal. The refuse bin in the corner overflows with the remains of past meals that were never served.
"That is Chef Basil," notes Sweeper, nodding toward the poppet doing the cooking. "She is generally nice, albeit a bit curt. She is VERY focused."
Sweeper raises her voice over the clatter. "Excuse us!" Sweeper nearly shouts. "We have some visitors I think you should meet."
"Not now, Sweeper." Chef Basil replies. "I am very busy. There is much to do, much to do. I am afraid I must ask you to leave." The poppet single-mindedly remains focused on her craft.
"But," Sweeper begins.
The chef cuts her off, her voice clearly grumpy. "Please, Sweeper. I can't afford to let myself be interrupted. I must ask you all to leave. I have cooking to do. Much cooking to do. I can't have any interlopers."
The PCs are encouraged to attempt to engage Chef Basil in conversation, but convincing her on a course of action will require obtaining a certain number of Cooperation Points.
PCs can obtain Cooperation Points with successful skill checks, but risk losing them with Critical Failures.
To try an obtain Cooperation Point, each PC may attempt one of the following skill checks: A successful Cooking Lore or Crafting check to Recall Knowledge can impress Basil with an understanding of her cooking, a successful Society or Nature check to Recall Knowledge can convince Basil that many more fantastic ingredients are available outside the dollhouse, a successful Deception check to Lie can convince her that the ingredients magically provided by the house simply are too bland for her skill.
Other checks can be used if you can convince me that they are appropriate. Creativity and application count! So, don't be afraid to be clever and/or descriptive.

GM Valen |

Two successes, one failure so far.
Zdenek has difficulty remembering what non-lizardfolk like to eat. However, when Grannik suggests a few ingredients, Chef Basil nods and goes to a nearby cabinet. Surprisingly, the cabinet contains precisely the ingredients that had been suggested and in the suggested amounts.
"No one here eats it," the cooking poppet laments. "But, I must cook no matter what. It is my only purpose in life, even if there are no prisoners left to eat."
When she finishes and plates her latest creation, she sets it down before the party. "Would you like some?"
The food acts as Minor Elixir of Life. A PC can receive this benefit once per day.
Chef Basil starts cooking again.
Would Areeza or Savan Genieshot like to attempt a skill check? Otherwise, I will resolve this encounter and move us along to A4.

Despite his fouling up the Chef's system, he sits down and tries the meal. "Chef, what about you? Surely you must taste your own creation!"
"Yes, of course, I can taste." Chef Basil huffs. "All poppet, eat, drink, breathe and sleep. I do grab a morsel every now and then. But the food I prepare isn't meant simply for my sustenance. It is my purpose!"
"But, if you think it a good idea to speak with the Warden,
she pauses for a moment. "I suppose I could get behind that idea. As much as am driven to prepare it, it would be nice to see more creatures enjoying it."

Artemios is glad that there are no prisoners left to eat, because he probably shouldn't be trying the food if there were.
As it is, he talks it up. "Oh wow, this is the best food ever! We need to get you out of here so you can get a job in a restaurant! Where you can, uh, take breaks between cooking sometimes. That--that might be good for you, too."

GM Valen |

Areeza asks the chef if she has ever tried the variant of an herb that comes only from Varisia, since the Chelaxian variant is harsher and less floral.
"I have not, but it sounds intriguing." Chef Basil replies. She then goes to the cabinet and produces the Varisian variety. She then takes a nibble. "Harsher? I agree. Though, I believe it definitely has some heat."
Not all PCs need to participate but I wanted to give each PC the opportunity to make a check if they wished.
"This is most delicious, my lady. It would be a benefit to all if you could leave this place and share your gift with the world"
"Yes, I believe you are right!" The poppet concedes. "Though, I suspect it will take more than just a few of us to convince the Warden."
With Tartan and now Chef Basil on board with Sweeper's plan, the party is free to explore the remainder of the house.
On to area A4...
Moving on, the party finds a storage area, which appears as it if hasn’t been used in a century. A single set of footprints mars the dust that covers the stairs, which matches Sweeper’s feet exactly.
"I am pretty much the only one who goes up and down the stairs." Sweeper acknowledges.
With Sweeper assuring the party that the only places left to explore and remaining poppets are upstairs, the party presumably starts up the steps to the second floor of the dollhouse.
Map of second floor of dollhouse now revealed on Slides.
Up the stairs, the party finds a hallway (B2) and doorway (B3) to the east, a door leading to more "storage" on the right. Ahead lies a gallery (B4) and a larger chamber with a grand staircase leading up (B5).
Where to, Pathfinders? Please place your tokens on the map accordingly.
We have cleared a floor, so I will reward a Hero Point to Ironwolf (who I believe is the only PC to have used one so far).

GM Valen |

"Do you know where the Warden is?"
"I assume that she is in her office, but I haven't seen her in some time," Sweeper concedes. "Most of her instructions are given through Seamless."
Savan glances around. "Who uses these rooms over here? B2"
"No one now." Sweeper confesses. "That is where the prisoners were held."
Sweeper lowers her voice and continues, "Full-Plate was their guard. Of all the poppets here in the dollhouse, I believe that Full-Plate feels the most hopeless, and I am afraid that they have decided that without a purpose, they have no value. Now, they barely talk to anyone."
Peering down the hallway, a set of cells can be seen lining the northern wall, iron bars enclosing them from the long hallway. None of them appear locked as the bars hang open. The wooden beds lack straw or any type of sleeping mat and would be terrible places to sleep.
A complete suit of full plate tin armor with a wind-up key in their back stands guard in the hall.
The PCs are encouraged to attempt to engage Full-Plate in conversation, but convincing them on a course of action will require obtaining a certain number of Cooperation Points.

Sure, B3.
"But everyone else can't give you the evil eye when they're upset." Full-Plate mutters in response.
Peering in the room ahead (B3), this room may have been a lecture hall at some point but is now obviously a storeroom. Stacks of materials that could be used to repair dolls and toys are littered about along with other miscellaneous items.

Then, let us B4ward!
While the usual peeling paint and musty smell of the dollhouse is still present in this room, it is more meticulously cared for. Cabinets with stacks of neatly filed papers line the walls. In the center sits a spartan desk currently occupied by a cloth poppet dressed in simple, yet well groomed, merchants’ clothes.
As the party enters the room, the poppet turns to address you, "Oh, I see that we have guests." The poppet rises from his desk and extends a mitten-like hand.
"I am Seamless, the facility administrator," the poppet explains in a formal tone. "I make it my business to keep this dollhouse running in an orderly fashion. Please, I must ask, what is your business here?"
The PCs are encouraged to attempt to engage Seamless in conversation, but convincing him on a course of action will require obtaining a certain number of Cooperation Points.
