Black Molly tips an apple cart into the street, and Sunshine immediately takes advantage of the torrent of fruit to plant one on a passerby. The resultant chaos and confusion is truly epic. (Both Crits!)

Shayna hands her business card to a man well disposed to take advantage of the opportunity, and he pushes his food cart of piping-hot mini-donuts out into the street. Several of the pursuers decide they’ve had enough and stop for snackies, pleasing the vendor even more, and he waves to Shayna in thanks as she runs off. (Another Crit!)

Corelion and Klara* each move a couple carts with just the right amount of finesse and science to block a few more of the rabble. (Both normal Success!)

Laeron knocks a beam and awning into the pursuers’ path. The owner of the stall angrily shakes his fist at Laeron and doubts that the young man will ever be back. (Regular Success)

You’ve managed to throw off some of the pursuers, but a group of Ninth Army soldiers suddenly appears to outflank you! Something has gone wrong!

You find yourselves surrounded—somehow the Ninth Army anticipated your movements, and you must find a way through. *@Klara: I don’t think Athletic Strategist would apply here, but it could have been used in Round 2 on a shove or trip attempt then. The feat specifically allows you to modify your Devise a Stratagem, which I would be okay with you using in the chase, but only to then use it to “modify a Disarm, Grapple, Shove, or Trip attempt,” and this check was to “erect a barrier.” I would certainly allow it on this round as the Athletics check is to “force your way through,” which sounds like Shove to me. As it was, the 18 was still a success, and not anywhere close to a Crit, so using the feat would not have changed anything.

Shayna sweet-talks a man in a top hat standing at the corner into giving her directions. He’s eager to help and even points out an alley nearby that the Ninth Army thugs might use to sneak past. (Crit!)

Sunshine and Klara slip into the shadows. Not only do the pursuers lose them, but the rest of the team isn’t sure where they went until they reappear alongside them as if nothing had happened. (Both Crit’s!)

The “swabbie” that Black Molly addressed takes one long look at the Sea Witch and her ghostly companion and then hightails it into the night as if he’d been shot from a cannon. (Regular Success)

Two more glance back and forth at each other when Corelion yells before they too follow the swabbie at full speed. (Crit!)

Laeron just shoves people out of the way, but it’s perfectly effective. (Regular Seccess)

Sunshine and Shayna work together on the lock, even sharing tools, as the Cap’n and Laeron try to smash the gate down. Klara points out exactly where the structure is the weakest. Corelion puts his shoulder to it, but fails to budge it much.

Laeron Crit, Corelion Normal Fail, all others Success. Suffice to say that you crushed that Chase with all those Crits in the middle rounds. Nice job!

The gate swings open and the Pathfinders rush through. You find yourselves in a warren of alleys along the canal near the candle factory that Meusello is hiding in. Klara receives a message from him via the enchanted wayfinder needle. “The plan seems to have worked, but look out for an ambush! Now is the time for a fight. Try to take them alive.”

It is now early evening, and the docklands are only dimly lit from the setting sun and sputtering street lamps. (Dim Light.)

Please go to this Ambush map slide and arrange yourselves in the marching order to your liking. I’ll roll Initiative and start the encounter tomorrow (Asia time.) If you wish to use something other than Perception for Initiative or you have a special bonus to Initiative not already in your Profile, please let me know. FYI everyone will be getting a +1 circumstance bonus to initiative rolls due to how well you did on the Chase.

Corelion heads forward, his halberd growing heavier as he takes advantage of his Elven speed to close the distance. Undeterred by the twilight thanks to his elven vision he holds back and tries to KO blue with a low sweep of the halberd.

Sunshine will move in the opposite direction, hunting Red and Striking.

I'm going to be a little metagamey, since only the hit that brings down the foe matters in terms of lethality, Sunshine will start off striking lethally and switch to nonlethal when they are visibly wounded. If this is too metagamey, Sunshine will make non-lethal strikes and take a -2 penalty to what is posted below.

Corelion hustles across the bridge and smacks the one in the Blue halberd upside the head. Looks like that hurt! Laeron gets into position and tries to talk the same one down. It doesn’t look like they were likely to withdrawn, and certainly not now after Corelion’s attack.

Sunshine moves to engage the other two. His spiked chain seems to have a kink in it from when it got “kicked” back at the tavern, and it fails to hit the soldier.

Up to you. It seems to be a common enough bit of knowledge “in world.” Wouldn’t have mattered, as the Strike was a miss anyway.

Red takes a second to study the Sea Witch before firing her crossbow at Black Molly. (Seems she wants dibs on Black Molly’s hat!)

Across the bridge, Corelion isn’t as lucky with his attack which misses by a mile.

Sunshine’s shield spell goes poof protecting him from most of the damage.

Shayna brightens everyone’s day. Even the soldiers seem happy to have the extra illumination. And the GM thanks you for putting the circles on the map. Then she provides Cap’n Silverbeard with a little extra luck.

The Cap’n takes revenge on Red and slaps her in the side of the head with the flat of his blade, sending her to the ground. Black Molly scares the daylights out of Purple.

Klara evaluates the options and heads south to aid the others.

Blue watches Corelion’s halberd as he carefully steps up next to Laeron, swings with his hammer, then raises his shield.

Green’s breastplate seems to conduct the electricity straight into him, while Blue doesn’t fare much better. Poor Green, Crit fail.

Corelion follows up his spell with a halberd strike to Blue’s groin. It doesn’t kill the man, but he drops to the stones anyway. Not a Crit, only because they raised their shields.

Laeron hits Green so hard, the man falls first to his knees, then flat onto his face.
Redirecting Laeron’s attack to Green since Blue is down. Laeron has 2 actions remaining and no more foes in this area.

Even though she’s the last one standing and is practically quacking in her boots, Purple doesn’t want to give up. She’s already got a target, so she swings at Sunshine first,
