Spoiler:

At first you were convinced that this was going to be another wild goose chase... which wasn't necessarily bad. Professor Mathys always said that "failure was successful in that it eliminated incorrect answers". Then you met the girl. The story was that she had been struck by lightning, but instead of killing her it seemed to gift her with an unknown language, and some weird artistic ability. Her superstitious parents owned several tenant buildings, so had some income... but were convinced that she was possessed, so sent her to the Asylum. Word spread as it had its tendencies to do, and word got back to the Bards College where you were researching some ancient Atlantean texts. Overhearing the story, you were excited to check this out for yourself. Posing as a cousin to the girl (Francilla), you gained access.

The first hour you were bamboozled by her attempts to communicate with you. She seemed just as frustrated that you couldn't understand the gibberish, she was spouting... then you noticed a couple of things. First it was her eyes. They were almost solid black but for bright white pupils which you realized seemed to match the phase of the moon. Second, you really looked at the scrawling that covered the walls of her room, and realized that they were star maps... Not star maps of where you currently are, but of some alien and unknown system. Only your experience and knowledge allowed you to realize that the maps weren't random... but logically perfect... just alien. You quickly copied a couple of the more disturbing ones into your notebook and hastened to leave. You had to get these back to the college in Bards Gate where you could resume your research... with new clues.

As you travelled down the trail towards the River road your quiet introspection was interrupted by what you could only assume were the sounds of battle ahead... Then a mighty bellow in what you think is probably orcish, though you don't speak the language.

This is a bare outline feel free to add or change anything that doesn't jive with your vision of the character.

Telurion outraged that the orc dared to throw an overgrown toothpick at him, glances at Lil, and moves forward swinging with a mighty swing at the creature... however he swung too hard, and the orc ducked under the blow... tired of being damaged.

Caks switches weapons and throws his dagger at the orc engaged with Telurion. Strides up and finishes what he started. He gives a look to Tellurion and mentions that "That's how you do it big man". as the orc falls to his bullet and blade... with a little softening up by Lil's flames.

Orc 3 has fallen... so Aduriel you may change your actions.

Seeing that Caks, Lil and Telurion seem to have the closest orc in hand, Aduriel decides to concentrate on the bigger orc that just emerged from the fort bellowing orders... and sends a vicious stream of magical force towards the creature.

How does your force barrage manifest? What does it look like?

Orc 2 and Orc 3 are going to delay till after Orc Sergeant, so...

Lil darts forward to stand in front of Caks.

Action 1: Stride.

Once there she focuses and then a whirling disc of air speeds towards the force, the force of the wind able to cut flesh.

Actions 2 and 3: Aerial Boomerang. I attack in a 60-foot line, which ends in the square orc 1 is in. Orcs 1 and 2 take 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 slashing damage with a DC18 reflex save. The boomerang stays in Orc 1's square. If he - or anyone else - ends a turn in that square, they take 2d4 damage with a DC 18 Reflex save. It lasts until the end of my next turn, and during my next turn, I can spend an action with the Conentrate trait to call it back to me, in which case it comes straight to whatever square I am in then, repeating its attack sequence.

* Aduriel: Sticking close by his sister, Aduriel sends forth three unerring balls of force at the obvious leader of this band of orcs striking him soundly in the chest. He grimaces, and steps back a bit from the force of the blow, but it only makes him angrier... though a bit weaker.

* Orcs 2&3: look to their leader for guidance and hold ready for his commands. They look a little braver due to his presence.

* Lil: Lil steps in front of the celebrating Caks, and throws some kind of stick made of air at the two approaching orcs. The first one takes a large cut across his chest, but the second seems to enjoy the breeze created by the keenly edged figment of air.

*Orc Sergeant: Moves forward to engage the crew, bellowing at the top of his voice in orc.

Attempting to mimic his leaders throw, Orc #1 realizes quickly that he is nowhere nearly as skilled and his Javelin sticks in the ground 10' in front of Lil. He decides he's better off with hand-to-hand combat and draws his Knuckle Dagger.

* Orc #2: Mirrors Orc 1's motions... but questions why he is closer to the danger... still he must do what his leader commands.

Orc #2 is nearly as surprised as Telurion that his javelin is able to find purchase in the warrior's armor (6-HP) despite his shield and almost giggles as he sees the blood running from the warrior's upper chest. He then also draws forth the knuckle dagger the sergeant gave him for his birthday.

Adayil is startled by the sudden cessation of loud storing from somewhere outside her tent... but near, and the sound of rustling preparation.

How many Actions to remove blindfold/gag, and what is the DC to remove bonds from legs given I now have my hands free? Am assuming I have no knife/dagger on me…and prestidigitation is of no use. I guess I could use gouging claw to cut the ropes….

Eh, let’s say one Action to whip off blindfold and remove gag, and then Adayil uses gouging claw to cut her bonds on her leg, so three Actions and were done.

Adayil rips off her blindfold and pulls the the gag off her kouth, blinking against the brightness and breathing deeply. With a grunt she enacts her mystic claws and slices herself free of the restraints holding her legs.

She looks around, trying to see who/what the snuffling sound was coming from.

Krutk! Where are you!?!

Not using a Seek action here, just want you to tell me what my eyes see…is my gear nearby?

Also, don’t forget Krutk…either he really is going to take 1d6 rounds to get to me or you are moving him each round…

Adayil rips the blinders off her eyes and spits out the nasty cloth from her moth and her environment becomes clearer. She had been laid out on the hard ground in a sailcloth tent. There is no light, but the cloth is thin enough to illuminate the inside. She is in here alone, and but for a small bowl of water there is nothing else in the tent. she does hear movement from behind her outside her tent.

Without her equipment she relies on her magic and summons a gouging claw from the primal chaos to slice through the ropes binding her legs.

Krutk scurries towards where he senses Adayil, the orc's paying no attention to him.

I believe he gets one action without direction.

* Orc #4 : Already in trouble for sleeping on duty. (Shouldn't have finished that stolen brandy by herself). Orc 4 rises from the tent, steps outside with Javelin in hand.

Seeing the Battle moving farther and farther away, Aduriel concentrates for a second before Calling forward two more balls of energy sending them once more against the strongest looking Orc.

He then starts rushing forward towards the orcs while trying to stay in the shadow of Telurion and the Caks.

* Telurion: steps forward swinging his mighty sword from his heels, but perhaps swings a little too hard, and the Orc is able to slyly dodge the blow.

Caks looks quickly at the new member of their party with a nod of acquiescence to go first.

* Aduriel[/b]: Leaves his sister tangled in the underbrush, and steps forward to get a better view of the action. He releases two more of his colorful balls of force striking the biggest orc square in the chest again.

8-Points of Force Damage to Orc Sergeant.

* [i]Caks: Caks moves forward quickly and with deadly intent sliding in behind the Orc gloating at Tellurion's unfruitful swing, and partially climbs up the beasts back before using his dagger to slice him from ear to ear. The big orc then releases some pent-up gas, and slowly slumps to the ground Caks riding him like a dying mare.

Crit for 16 points of Slashing damage

Lil gives Teulurion a quizzical sideways look at his comments about the orcs. But, then she is sending a bolt of flame at the wounded sergeant.

Actions 1 and 2: Elemental Blast.

Blasting: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 fire damage.

She then calls upon the winds to aid Telurion.

Action 3: Guidance on Telurion. He gets a +1 status bonus on an attack roll, Perception check, save, or skill check. It has to be used before my next turn, and after he is immune to Guidance from me for 1 hour. Also, the boomerang fades away.

* Lil: looks at the Orc Sergeant reeling from twin blasts from Aduriel I have so much trouble with this name. I have to look at the spelling multiple times to get it right :-) and attempts to send a bolt of flame at the sergeant but the blast from Audriel slowed down his charge just enough to throw off her aim. She then says a few unusual words to Telurion... and he seems encouraged after his last couple of rounds.

* Orc Sergeant: "Quit Killing my soldiers". He yells at Caks as he steps forward to get better positioning.

Adayil hears the sounds of someone leaving the tent, and rises to follow them outside. Seeing a fellow, but unknown and likely enemy orc, and female at that, Adayil leaps to attack with her bare fists…

[Every f+*king cantrip I have apart from prestupiditation is two f*&king Actions. For cantrips. Sure, you can heighten them, but why not make them 1 Action *until* you heighten them? You could add the flourish trait as a rider to prevent spamming, but 2 Actions to do almost no damage is so fun! Just another way low level play in PF2 completely sucks. So, I punch.]

Adayil, you do understand you are complaining that cantrips don't do enough damage, and are choosing to make an unarmed strike that does 1d4 nonlethal damage when Gouging Claw does 2d6 Slashing or Piercing plus 2 Persistent Bleed.. That's Greatsword damage with a bonus. Electric Arc does 2d4 electricity damage at range on up to two targets. Now, in this case you can't use either one, but that's because you had to get up from Prone and then Stride. It has nothing to do with the spells. It's because you need to do other things because of the circumstances of this fight.

Non-lethal? Who punches someone non-lethally? Ehrmagherd. I hate this.

Yep, I’m complaining. Not because I didn’t have enough actions after taking one to rise and one to move. I get that. My only other option really was to punch. Or move somewhere else. And yes, Greatsword damage. But a greatsword only needs one Action. ;)

It has everything to do with the lack of a significant cantrip in my current repertoire that is even *slightly better* than greatfist, is lethal, and uses one Action. All. About. Spells.

Adayil crawls from the tent, and stands striding forward to soundly punch Orc 4 in the back of the head.

Critical hit for 12-HP Non-lethal damage.

Krutk dances with joy seeing his charge still alive and kicking. The formerly sleeping and slighty hung-over is almost knocked out by the revenge seeking female, but somehow keeps his feet after a few stumbling attempts at rebalance.

*Orc 4: Reeling at the unexpected blow the warrior turns to address the new threat to his existence. He strides to get a safe distance away and slings his javelin at her.
I'm giving Adayil cover as she's inside the gate still.

Telurion steps up to the sergeant and tries to put the leader down. With a roar he swings to split the orc in half.

* Telurion: Finally tired of being shown up by little caks, the mighty warrior steps forward, and with one mighty blow removes the head of the Orc Seargent. His head rolls a few feet and stops looking right at Telurion with a surprised expression frozen on his dead face.

If Orc is not prone, then Caks gets out a second dagger, then Caks will do a Twin Feint (for the secondary attack the Orc is Off Guard).

If the Orc is prone, then Caks will strike three times.

* Aduriel: steps forward allowing his sister to care for herself and casts a spell causing the Orc standing next to Caks to slip and fall as the ground around him turns slick.

* Caks: Orc 1 looks up to see a small furry ball of fury attack him with a whirlwind of daggers.

Caks guts the suprised orc like fileting a fresh cod, and the beasts blood stains the grass mixing with the slick grease deposited by Aduriel.

He then steps forward slinging the blood from his sharp filet dagger.

He was also going to pray to his god that no one is harmed, but he is not sure that he has the Feat which allows you to walk & pray at the same time ...

* Variel: Variel hears the sounds of combat from further down the trail and casts his most protective spell before moving forward to see what is happening.

NOTE: We really have to act in initiative order for the most part as positioning is so important in PF2e. In this case no problem as you really don't enter encounter mode till next round. I'll put you on the map and make your initiative right after Caks.

Also if possible, please use the (◆) symbol to designate your actions. Just makes it easier for me to quickly address your actions.

Lil is up after Caks finishes his final action. I hesitate to move forward as where he's positioned at the end of his turn could affect what Lil chooses to do.

Ninja'd. That will hit even if Caks is providing soft cover, so I'll go ahead and resolve.

As Caks rushes forward dagger in hand Lil sends a blast of fire just past his left ear which strikes the unsteady (Both from a hangover, and Adayil's fierce blow). sending her to the ground unconscious.

12-points of her damage are non-lethal

Current map Temple of Thyr God Infinity........

Adayil is thrilled to see the light of another day, Krutk, and her companions from Raven... not necessarily in that order, as the familiar sight and smell of Lil's Firey elemental blast send her protagonist to the ground.

The smell of burning Orc flesh fills the air, and there is some unusual mixture of orc blood, and grease covering part of the ground. Caks seems disappointed that his new target's death was stolen from him.

The wounds suffered in the brief battle begin to ache as the party realizes a couple of things.

1. Alhindri is now neck deep in the river and seems to be unaware that she needs air to breathe.

2. there is a new arrival dashing from somewhere further along the trail. Variel Would you take a moment to describe what the recently engaged party sees as you dash onto the scene.

As the scuffle comes to an end, a young aiuvarin rushes down the trail towards everyone. Longsword at the ready, there is a shimmer of magical energy surrounding his rather unusual armor which looks like it is made up of layered sections of ... leaves.

His hair is color of roasted chesnuts against his rather fair skin but the bright violet of his eyes catch attention, almost as much attention as the silver inlay on the breast of his armor symbolising Darach-Albith. He is calm as he reviews the situation, until he sees the girl in the river. He sheaths his sword and then there is another shimmer: no more sword, no more armor, just a very sharply dressed young half-elf looking a touched confused.

"The woman in the river ... can breath water?"

Adayil huffs a little, trying to take stock of the situation. Once she realises the fracas is done, she moves to scoop up Krutk and ensure his carapace is undamaged and that he is more or less…together.

The presence of an unknown elf and the arrival of an equally unknown half-elf keeps Adayil slightly tense, but that the former appears to know her friends and the latter seems not aggressive mollifies her more dangerous impulses. Adayil stares at the half-elf.

”Who are you? Where did you come from?” she says in Common.

[Variel may have some difficulty separating Adayil from the dead orcs, but can probably tell she isn’t aggressive nor evoking any aggression from the rest of the non-orcs….]
