Listening as Abebe described the equipment and upgrades built into the vehicle, Navarre knew that the vehicles functonality would be the difference between success and failure. Smilng at Venssa comment, he nods in agreement, "I think that's a good idea." he adds, "I know I'll be getting my shotgun."

Raising an eyebrow at Abebe's question his smile widens. "No reason not to be prepared for anything."

Having said his peace, Navarre listens as Abebe lays out his plan and Cable adds a medical option. When Cable asks about the machine and the time frame, Navarre shrugs, "More like months, but like his 'adventure' I've only had time to work on it on the weekends. If we don't do this tomorrow and the next day, we'll have to wait until next weekend, assuming nothing comes up then or we'll still have the vehicle available."

Male Human AACBC6

Boom begins to gather what is needed for the trip out to the site. He looks to the others and says "I've got picks, shovels, a few explosives, shoring gear. We need food water and whatever else you can come up with."

Survival+Edu: 2d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5, 6) + 1 + 2 = 14

Survival+Edu 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 1 = 9

"All looks good so far. Make sure we have plenty of extra water...we can always go without food, but water is a different story!"

She checks and re-checks her and the other's gear as it is stored on the vehicle.

The ATV is soon stocked up when Monger Abebe *He that flys mother comes into the bay. "She that fixes good".

"So son of mine, your heading out to strike it rich."

She holds up a hand before he can replay.

"He that feeds told me all about it. A treasurer map and lost Aslan site. Well I think he is right, its a young ones dream to find a lost unplundered site. But I must worn you, Like all the other last Aslan sites we and other clans have all looked at time and time again. they are Gutted and empty. But have some fun out there and be careful with the clans kit."

She checks your kit and even makes some suggestions. You all get the impression that the adults of the clan may see this as a right of passage, that they and generations of Clan youth have done just the same thing. No one expects you to truly find a lost trusore on the rock. Not after 1000s of year of mining and salvaging. But they do exspect you to look after yourself.

"And when you get back I want that thing check over again."

She says with a grin, giving Monger Abebe a hug,

"Look at my boy all grown up and heading out on his 1st scout."

Then she is gone back to the day to day grind of the Glans work teams.

8BAC87

After asking his mom for permission to use the smaller ATV and receiving more support than expected he starts the equipping aspect asking the others for help in the workload. Getting copies of any maps the clan has of the area of travel. Most important is information on the ridge reasonably near where the target site is, any easier points of ascent on the ridge, and any nearby ice deposits for the moxie to fully charge all tanks. The ATV has a 240 liter (about 63 gallons) water tank and a ice hopper. An H2O Moxie seems available. Will need to find 6x5=30 PLSS compatible Oxygen tanks. Need a portable winch and extra cable to lift the extra tanks and other equipment up to the top and possible to aid novice climbers as well.

Climbers to carry as little as possible, Vacc suits containing radio attachment, suit patches for rips, canteen, the climbing gear everything else brought up by winch.

Extra equipment, two cameras and a few rolls of film. Scanning equipment at least metal detectors and anything else available. Any additional suggesting made by any that are available. Space canteens for water, salt tablets, and energy drinks etc. Sturdy container meant for raising up a jagged cliff to hold the tanks and equipment.

Abebe restlessly sleeps that night and spends the next day helping prep the trip, and going carefully going over that plans. At daybreak the next day, is the time to set out.

Day 1 - Aslan device found
Day 2 - Prep Day
Day 3 - Set out, reach and use ice deposit ~16-17 km 1 hour., reach cliff 1-2km 1/2 hour max, climb cliff 6 hours, move to target site and explore 1-3 hours, back to climb down at least one of the Climb Masters with lowered oxygen tanks, recharges them and then another Climb Master raises them back for the other to rest the night if and only if absolutely needed otherwise everything done this day, and all climb down and rest in the ATV.
Day 4 - Drive home

Drivers:
1) Abebe
2-4) Boom
2-4) Cable
2-4) Venssa
5 Two-Fingers not a driver

1-4 Drive/Vehicle(tracked 0) Dex +1

Climb Masters
1) Two-Fingers
2) Abebe

On the day of departure Abebe meets everyone in the vehicle bay and has them sign the log out for the vehicle stating mission and expected time and total occupants.

When all aboard, Abebe goes through the full checklist testing each system as he ahs someone else do an inventory check. the he calls in.

Abebe, "RST-3 to Departure Control requesting Bay VB-1 be depressurized." A familiar voice replies, "Acknowledged, RST-3 the bay is depressurized.", the air pumped out and bay in near vacuum. He continues, "RST-3 to Departure Control, Open door for departure of RST-3." Again a reply, "Acknowledged, RST-3, door is opened and departure clearance granted, good luck and stay safe son." Abebe drives out of the bay and replies, "RST-3 has departed bay and I will keep safe, mom."

He drives off to the first checkpoint.

And on the way to a completely safe and boring trip, I'm sure nothing will happen at all. :)

Abebe, I'm not sure why, but you have us waiting an extra day. I'm not good with that since it feels like we have the 'weekend' to do this. The least you should have done was 'discussed it' with the group, either in game or out. GM-Panic, any input here, whether there is an implied time limit or not? If there isn't a 'rush' so our characters can get back to their responsibilities I'm happy to retcon.

As they are loading the last of the gear Navarre notices Abebe's mom coming into the bay. his brain rushing Navarre is relieved when she seems ok with the idea. Raising an eyebrow as she adjusts some of the gear and points other things out, he chimes in. "I'll help him check the gear again." As the two hug it reminds Navarre he should tell his parents what they plan to do on the morrow.

Surprisingly his father and mother were ok with him taking his day off to go 'adventuring' with his friends. His brother even told the story about how he and 'bangs a lot' got lost and 'She that Fixes good' went out with him to find them. Starting to feel like this was some 'rite of passage' Navarre excused himself, heading to his room and double checking all of his gear, laying it out for early the next morning. Having trouble sleeping he rises early, putting on his beat up Vacc suit, clipping his short range radio to the belt, along with his multi tool, torch and rad-detector and shouldering his Survival pack. Lastly his slings his shotgun over his shoulder, having put all twenty four of his shells in its bandolier sling.

Arriving at the vehicle bay Navarre signs the 'log out' and climbs in the RST-3, taking his seat, he waits with bated breath for everyone to load up so they can be underway.

I think you can prep and go on the same day, Its system with 3 suns so you have high light and low/lower light for the days coming, never true night. But its up to you players, really it dose not matter for this part of the action. :)

I will beed 2 drive rolls from each

8d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 2, 3, 1, 1, 1) = 22

Drivers:
1) Abebe
Drive Roll DC11
2-4) Boom
Drive Roll DC5
2-4) Cable
Drive Roll DC4
2-4) Venssa
Drive Roll DC2 [Auto Made]

Let see how far you get.

8BAC87

As Abebe heads to the first checkpoint, he asks everyone, "I've been busy with setting this up. I know you've logged a lot of what you've done but could you each go over it so we are all on the same page."

At checkpoints or turnover, or on a time basis(every hour seems reasonable) they radio status to base. If that's okay with everyone.

This is the time to add or change anything about what I outlined earlier. I deliberately left out what is the first checkpoint so it could be filled in by the GM or other interested parties. More to come in the discussion thread.

Drive(Tracked)0,DEX +1: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 5) + 1 = 10 DC 11? Ouch!

Male Human AACBC6

Boom takes over from Abebe and tries not to hurt the vehicle or get it stuck.

Drive + Dex: 2d6 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + 0 + 1 = 9
Drive + Dex: 2d6 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (1, 5) + 0 + 1 = 7

A8AA97

Venssa takes her turn at the wheel when the time comes.

Drive: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 1 = 5
2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 1) + 1 = 7

Having claimed his seat, Navarre sets his rucksack underneath, strapping in he rests his helmet on his lap. As the journey settles in, he dozes in and out, taking rest while he could.

Ok so leg 1 there is a track brakedown as Abebe hits sharp rock he really should have missed. Delay 1 hour Eng Skill roll to fix DC2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7

Assuming you do it the rest of the drive to the ravine is uneventful but you lost and hour.

Note you will have radio contact with base while above ground, patchy in the ravine and none underground.

So is the engineering modifier intelligence? I couldn't find that information quickly.
engineer: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 4) + 1 = 10

Feeling the RST-3 hit the rock, Navarre jars awake as the telltale sound of the track coming apart could be heard. Shaking his head he looks towards Abebe, but only says. "Since I'm not driving, I'll take care of it." Donning his helmet he grabs his rucksack, throwing it over his shoulder he moves quickly to the door. Once outside he quickly starts pulling the track back over the large iron drive wheels.

By the time he'd left the airlock, pulled the track back up, repaired the tread, welded the broken bracket and tested the track, he'd taken about an hour. Banging on the door of the vehicle when he was done, he climbed back in the RV. Smiling at his friends, "We're good to go." Returning to his seat, he dropped the rucksack back underneath it, taking his helmet off as he sits down and straps in.

If you look at the map you will see you stop at a refuel site close to the raven. Then carry on.

Ok you need to say where you what to be on map after that this side of the raven. Then unpack the kit and do the decent down. Five skills rolls from each of you 1 is all that you feel sites the actions your taking. I will roll DCs after.

Hi all, I will need a prep rolls for the decent dow
So each of you pick a skill.
DC is 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 = 9

GM_Panic wrote:

So each of you pick a skill.

Athletics: Co-ordination: climb: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 = 7

Its a lot harder than it seems, Your going to have to rig and winch to the ATV and use that to lower yourselves down. its 150m/492' down.

Male Human AACBC6

Boom prepares for the long trek down and back up.
Athletics End: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 6) + 2 = 13
Athletics End: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10
Athletics End: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 2 = 10
Athletics End: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 5) + 2 = 13
Athletics End: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6) + 2 = 9

Boom gets to the bottom and sets up a lock off point for the Simple platform that can be lowered on Cables from the ATV

DC for rolls now is 7 not 9

Having practically fallen off the edge when he went to go around the RV, Navarre watched as Digger gracefully moved down to the bottom.

is it still 5 rolls?
Athletics: Co-ordination: climb: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 5) + 1 = 9
Athletics: Co-ordination: climb: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 1 = 5
Athletics: Co-ordination: climb: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 1 = 12
Athletics: Co-ordination: climb: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 1 = 12
Athletics: Co-ordination: climb: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 1 = 4

No just 1 Ill take the 1st

8BAC87

Abebe puts the supplies on the platform and watches carefully as the supplies a lowered down, then follows after.

Athletics(Co-ordination-Dex-Climbing): 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 1 = 9 Will this cover lowering the additional supplies or does that need another roll?

yes, after Digger Boom made so meny rolls
I am now going to say your all down with all you kit.

Ok you walk across the raven, which is uneventful.
and get to the other side to go back up.
As you get to the other side you see there has been a large resent landslide. It looks stable-ish. And it looks the best way to get back up.

I need someone to do a 2 Clime rolls DC9 other can aid.
The I need them to do a spot hidden DC9 as well.

I have Added a new site map to the link at the top of the page guys.

You see a broken entrance to a Alsan mining site, Its assessable but will need some kind of Eng work to get it open.

Taking point, Navarrevresisted the urge to take his shotgun from the scabbard on his rucksack. Instead he walking across the ravine looking for the best place to climb. Stopping at the base, he pointed towards the recent land slide. "I'll go up there and drop a line back down."

climb: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
climb: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12

As he crests the top of the cliff, he takes his rucksack off and set's it on the ground. Taking the rope and multitool out, he inserts the multitool into the ground. Tying the rope to it and tossing the end of the rope to the others.

Once the others begins to climb the rope he puts his rucksack back on and begins to look around. Seeing what he believes is an entrance, he calls back over his shoulder, "I think we've found something." Once again, resisting the urge to draw his shotgun, he draws out his electric torch instead; pointing it towards the newly revealed site.

spot: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 4) + 1 = 11

I will wait for the others to climb up so we can start 'engineering'

Male Human AACBC6

Boom waits for the others to ascend and then follows them up the rope. Once up he says "What have you found?"

Assuming no rolls needed for the rest of us

Pointing the torch at what he believes is a doorway, he asks, "does that look like a door to you?" As the others get acclimated Navarre realizes his 'tool' is still in the ground with the rope. He'd intended to leave it in case a 'quick exit' was necessary, but he believed he'd need it to work the door open.

Speaking to no one in particular he added "Give me a moment." Again dropping his pack on the ground he untied the rope and, looping it, returned it to his pack. Pulling the 'multitool' from the ground he returned it to his work belt. Shouldering his pack he smiles "Ok, now I'm ready."

Moving back towards the newly found door he shines his light on it, looking at the door trying to figure out how it opens.

engineering: education: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3) + 2 = 10

A8AA97

As she climbs down, Venssa can hear the discovery of the door. Once back on solid ground she draws her pistol and moves over to the door, examining it and its surroundings for anything out of the ordinary.

"Be careful two-Fingers! No telling if they still have any security measures on that door or not!"

8BAC87

Abebe drags the heavy extra supplies toward where the door is and, using the EM equipment, scans the the door for any sign of sensors or traps.

Sensors 0, INT +2: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 1) + 2 = 8 Anything of note.

Pulling rocks away you find a really well made door made, and There are not traps BUT there is a faint hum of power beyond, something there is still working. Working for a shot while you find the manual over ride and the door with some pushing slides open, Please have a look at the map and see the entrance way to the complex.

Steps leed down to a room, there is a low glow of some emergency lights they seem to have faded in power to almost nothing. In front of you and to each side are Iris doorways. Front left and right, There are shelves to the left of you as you come in, some boxes are on them. On the floor some kind of large Vacc suit, rock seems to have crushed it falling from the roof. Just by the entrance right is a broken and smash metal thing, again smashed by falling roof rocks. Everything looks really old, you kick up dust as you move around. No one has been in here for a very long time. But one thing you can tell is this place is not 100% safe.

So what do you want to look at.

1:Selves Left
2:Iris door left
3:Broken thing right
4:Iris door Right
5:Large Vacc suit front
6:Iris door Front.
7:The roof
8:The emergency lights and power lines.
9: Other

A8AA97

Vensa takes a look at the powerlines and emergency lighting. With the small amount of training she had received, she attempts to discover where the power comes from and if the entire complex is still lit.

Engineer-Power: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 1 = 8

Doctor

Nate will look at the shelves and boxes

@Venssa, they are like nothing you have seen before, colors are wrong and the metal uses is not copper. Its silver-ish in color.

@Mining tools, you see large pick axes, large rock hamers, some kind of rock drills, Oil jacks that have rotted o rings and the oil has leaked out. A Vacc suit, set of glovesn and two torches with now rotted batteries.

Having carefully descended the stairs, Navarre was expecting some sort of mining facility. What he wasn't expecting was the large Vacc suit. "Well would you look at that."

Moving carefully towards it he lowers his torch and inspects it. Looking to see if he can tell what short of creature it was for, or if he recognized the type or style.

So many different things to see, Is it 'large' like a basketball player, or large like an alien creature? Figure I'll roll engineering and Jack of all trades just to cover the bases
engineering: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8
Jack of all trades: 2d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2) - 2 = 2
Booooooo

@Two-Fingers" Yep Basketball court is about right, the roof is high like an Edwardian house. 12' high, the Doors are large, ever thing is 1.5x human size, the Vacc suit etc. The tech looks Alien to you but you see Aslan faded Signage on the walls and items.

As you get a better look at the Vacc suit you see an Alien Skeleton init.
You also see a sword of some kind in its belt and stuck under some of the rock. Its slightly bent but looks very well made. It has gold trim and a reg gem of some kind in the handal.

Image here The glow seems to be luminescent inlay. That flows after you shine light on it.

Male Human AACBC6

Boom carefully descends and then start to examine the ceiling. Nothing else matters if the roof comes down on them.

Yep that roof looks very unstable, moving big stuff in here may make it come down.

Male Human AACBC6

Digger whistles and says "We need to shore up this ceiling or it is all going to come down on us and we will have no exploring to do. Give me a hand here." He then starts to do what he can to shore up the place a minimum of a safe central area to the exit.

Mining+Edu: 2d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 1 + 2 = 9

Is this the place we were looking for or something we found on the way to what we are looking for?

8BAC87

Following the others in Abebe looks over the area from the entryway for notable issues. As the others scatter for various points of interest, he pulls out the large film camera and makes a number of snapshots. Then setting He places the camera safely out of the dangerous room and goes to help Digger Boom with securing the room.

This is not the place you where heading too but its close. But its also Aslan...

@Monger + Digger using what is left on the Selves your able to make a temp support for the roof. IT will hold for the time bing but another land slide could over wealm it. The doors look well made, and all are closed.

8BAC87

After finally getting out of Digger Boom's way with his unhelpful help, Abebe goes over to the broken thing(#3) and inspects it trying to figure out what it is and what might be needed to repair it. "I wonder what this does? Anybody have any ideas?", Abebe asks the room.

Mechanic(INT): 2d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5, 6) + 1 + 2 = 14 Determine what it does and how it's broken.

I feel like the roll is probably MED + INT but please confirm?

@Monger its a smashed up robot, looking at its arms you see its a mining robot of some kind. Now well beyond repair.

@Nathan, It would fall under Xenobiology, but Medic would tell you its not human and a good chance its Aslan looking at uts skull and teeth.

While the others look at the remains and such, Venssa approaches the iris door on the left. She checks to see if power is still running to the door before attempting any of the buttons.

Abebe looks disappointed at his examination of the object, "Just a mining robot that has seen better days, hopeless to repair, might get some salvage out of it but it's not worth bothering with now." He then looks around seeing Venssa go for the left iris door he heads to the right one and checks it out.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@Nathan best use JackOT Yes its a Aslan.
@Navarre yes you get it out, its bent about 1/4 of the way down but other than that it seems very well made.

@Venssa+Monger, The front door is locked some how and has power, but you check the left door and find it has no power but you think with some work you can pry it open. That roll will get it open.

See map.

It Opens onto an Air lock, and another iris door, this time there is power. You open the other door helping the under powered motors. It reveals a kind of Laboratory, Tables full of rock samples and odd looking devices, there are racks of shelves and items on them.

Things to look at in the room,
1: Left side from door, Selves
2; Head ahead Selves
3: Right wall
