I went ahead and dotted and deleted in game. Still working on three lists of gear, the first what he has on him, what he has in his room, and what he has access to in the janitors close.
On his person when tshtf:
Mop and bucket, coveralls, work boots, phone, wallet, Id badge (for scanning electronic doors) Janitor keys, multi tool. janitor belt w/ cleaning supplies: spray cleaner, several cloth towels, goe-be-gone, scraper for getting up glue. That sort of thing, not sure any of it will be usefull :)
Any chance he can have an actual sword in his room?
Also, I'm looking for clarification on his human race trait: Military Tradition: since were in Japan any chance the race trait can be any of the traditional samurai weapons instead of limiting it to just the two swords?

So you are wanting a decorative but functional sword to display. I am sure with the right permit that would work. So yes.
race trait: Military Tradition: since we are in Japan, the race trait can be any of the traditional samurai weapons.

I was hoping if the practiced the art of Iaido he would have a real sword, maybe a gift from years ago when his father still loved him. If I need to change a trait or skills or feat, I could do it. Just not sure how to go about it. But if the answer is no he can stick with the mop.
Will get a post up in game some time today.

Ujio Yutani |

You would not be able to start with a sword on your person. You could say its in your office or home.
oh right, he's going to have mop bucket and a few times he'd use a lot, window cleaner and towels, keys for all the doors (and maybe a tool for getting into doors that the key is broke, ie thieves tools) maybe a cell phone and a multi-tool. So, if it's in his room (I don't imagine him having an office, just a closet with a locker for personal effects like a coat and his lunch)
Let me ask, where would his 'living quarters' be? He lives on campus, would he have a corner in a basement in a main building, or have a room in a building where other staff live, or have his own little cottage out in the woods like Hagrid?
Just add this to your backstory: when his father still loved him, he was gifted a set of ancestral swords, years ago.
Maybe even just a singular ancestorial sword, Iaido is really just about the katana, as is Kenjutsu. But I appreciate that.
I'll get the backstory posted tomorrow, watching the game with my wife, will get a post up afterwards. On Thursday morning he mops and buffs the floor in the main building. Probably would still be mopping :)
Oh, I noticed you asked about time zone, I'm in central Ohio so EST. I tend to post most 9-5 Monday -Friday I check the games in the evening, but only post in the games that are really moving. I check the boards a lot on Saturday and Sunday, but I'm actually busier on the weekend than I am on the weekdays, so just tend to do combat posts or continuation posts.
But I will make sure I get something substantial up here, in a bit.

Cool, we started. I'm setting up my 'To Go Bag':
Trait
Prepper
You start off with a massive backpack which includes an Antidote Kit, a first aid (Chirurgeon's) Kit, and a Cooking kit. You also know where your hidden cache of food is located. The massive backpack that keeps it all organized is Mastercraft increasing your strength by 3 for carrying capacity with a quick release tab to drop the bag as a swift action.
The first aid pack is actually a Responder Bag- Basic First Aid & Bleeding Control Complete with Super Glue to seal wounds.
A small field surgical tools set.
3x Boat survival rations 4000 calories per package
Both pill and vials of medication, including anesthetic, narcotics, antibiotics, Narcan, etc
Two foil survival blankets
small solar powered charger for recharging
small multi=tool
and a lighter

I'll write his intro generic enough that it won't matter, but I figure it will matter later. As I was thinking about it, do we have a 'lay out' of the facilities. Number of buildings, floors general organization? None of it matters for the opening posts or two but it will come up later.

GM Wolf |

High school over view and some ideas.
My original floor plan has been taken down. Saving images now.

Ujio Yutani |

Most of the backstory is done, I'll get personality, appearance and hopefully relationships done tomorrow. I still need to finish the skills provided by his expert class figured out, then applied to his skills. Also need to get possessions.
Since the school has a place to store swords, his will be kept there where the classes are in a locker with his practice armor and bamboo sword.
I think he will live in a dorm room provided for the faculty, I want his place to be really small.

Kenzo Hagetora |

Hello, sorry for being a bit late. But I am in. I was not sure how much money we had to buy equipment so I was just listing out some basic clothes. How much money do we have to start with? Can I start with a baseball bat?
Should I have max hit points?

GM Wolf |

Yes you should all start with max hp.
Yes Kenzo, you may have a wooden or steel baseball bat. It will likely be in your locker. Wait how old is he? Its not on his crunch. Are you going with coach or player?
Nikola you may stay at the nurses office. She will dote on you, trying to make you feel comfortable. Dr. O'Brian will likely check in as well. Then with Unji down the hall... you guys are set!
Now to get to the fun part!

Kenzo Hagetora |

Kenzo is a student. I talk about it in his backstory. I will go and put in an age.

Ujio Yutani |

So I was working through Ujio's possessions and stumbled across the practice armor worn for Kendo. I was wondering how much of it would be useful for fighting zombies.
It looks like the hand and forearm protectors would help, might be fun to try and suit everyone up :)

Ujio Yutani |

Can you put the map in your header or on the campaign page so it's easier to find? Which building are we in?
If I understand your post he can lock the doors by tapping his key card twice, but to lock all of them he has to get to the security room. Where is the security room in reference to where they are?
Do you perchance have a map of the building they are in. If not, how may doors and how far away are they?

GM Wolf |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Bottom of the stairs you noticed the fire box. Within the glass box you see an ax, fire hose, and an AED.
---
I will add the map to our header. Sorry I normally do that.
Hikari is in building 1, Ayako is in building 2, I believe you are in Building 4.
You could take time to lock each door separately, touching the key pad twice. But to lock them all you would need to get to the security room which should be three or fours down on the right.
No map of the building yet, I will need to make it tonight.
Most of the rooms on this hallway are offices. The second floor is mostly the weights gym with a track. The other part are the sports lockerroom with showers. Where Kenzo is presently. The third floor is mostly the Olympic pool but there are three classrooms ontop of the pool lockerroom.

Ujio Yutani |

I've been looking at some of the other games and posts. Do you want us to mark what round were in? Will you identify when we are out of combat? Is it possible that I'm just posting too fast for the flow of the other characters in the game?

GM Wolf |

What are the rest of you doing?
Yes! Yes please it makes it so much clearer if you label your round.
Yes I normally tell you when no threats are nearby/visible.
I sure hope not... otherwise it doesn't look good for the survival of the game. My last zombie game lasted a few weeks maybe a month... I would have to go back and check but it died pretty quickly just to the lack of players not posting.
If there is anything I can do or if you have a question, you just have to say it!

Ujio Yutani |

Cool, sorry I thought we were out of rounds, so I started listing several things at once. Sadly, I'm out of the habit of listing rounds, I've gotten used to GM's listing the rounds and showing order of actions. Until I get back in the habit of listing round it would help if the NPC's did the same. At least I did see your end of combat this time :)
As for keeping other involved, I'm trying to have Ujio react to their actions, and talk a little. He's not much of a talker, but I'll try and have him as more question. The odd thing, I normally try not to post faster than the game flow. But with so many NPC's it's easy to keep reacting to them instead of waiting for other players. That's not a complaint, just an observation.

Ujio Yutani |

As I skimmed your games I realized you like to play NPC's :)
Which I'm cool with!
I've just gotten used to AP's and GM's that use the NPC's in the story, but rarely send any along for the fun. I hope that didn't sound negative, I like the interaction, whether it's with NPC's or Player Characters.
I just want the game to run at a healthy pace where folks are involved, that seems the best way to keep a game active. Of course if it just ends up being Ujio and the NPC's who survive, I'm cool with that also :)

GM Wolf |

Oh yes! Many players apparently have problems keeping the game moving forward and NPCs are the best vehicle to keep that going.

Same here! If it happens it happens. It is concerning that none of the other players have made any type of comment on this topic. Kenzo did make a post which I really appreciate. Hopefully he can join up soon but will find the fire doors locked.

Ujio Yutani |

I'm in another game with Kenzo and have played in a couple others with him as well. He is a steady and intelligent poster, and I was glad to see he joined up with this one :)
I'll get a post up here in a bit, Do the locked fire doors have windows, what sort of perception check will Ujio need to see him?

Nikola Vujičić |

Hey, sorry about the time loss. New router pooped itself and it took comcast a while to actually come and fix the dang thing. I'm here though, and enjoying myself, and reading Ujio's interactions with the NPCs! Robert Henry is a great poster, and I quite enjoy reading what they write :)

Ujio Yutani |

Gosh, thanks. No pressure there :)
GM Wolf, Nikola and Ujio have been talking about the riot gear, as a Warrior Ujio should know how to use the armor. In recruitment you said "Defense Bonus and Armor as DR." I know where the page is for the defense bonus, but where are the numbers on armor DR?

GM Wolf |

No windows in the fire doors.
Since Kenzo has not tried pounding on the door yet, it would be like Perception DC 30 or more.
Sorry to hear about your router!
I will pull up the info.
Also I am going to play Adrian as a NPC until he starts posting again. So let's keep the conversation and actions rolling in.
Kenzo what do you do at the fire door?
