K3nzo and Nikola what do you do?

Can you set up the map so we can move ourselves? Or do you prefer to adjust the map yourself?

I have posted and moved myself on the map.

Hey folks, sorry about a lack of posts, had family in all weekend and I've caught a cold, so under the weather. Do we want to start opening doors here on the first level? I'm good with whatever, Nikola you want to open that door go ahead :)

Right now it is just the three of you... the NPCs are available to help but without a check their out of energy.

I have looked at the map that I have made the group to know where things are located. And yet you state you are searching the door to the West of the nurses office. That would be the library. It is really hard since you are all over the place. I moved you so you are all together. Is that the classroom you are checking to the West?

I'm sorry, I had moved Ujio to the north eastern hallway so when I said 'the first door on the western wall," I meant there in the northeastern hall.

Planning on checking those three classroom first, to then either continue to the third floor or to clear the first floor. Figured we should let the group vote.

Is everyone ok with me just moving us on the map together?

Doesn't bug me at all

Okay thanks for that clarification. Now to the door.

That works.

I see Ujio has a defense bonus... I am having troubles finding the link to the alt rules. Please help.

Kenzo and Nikola should add the defense bonus too!

defense bonus we went with.

Thanks Ujio!

That means that Kenzo would have a +4 Defense bonus as well. So an AC 17/18 with improvised shield

As Nikolay would have a +1 Defense bonus.

Warriors are proficient in all armor so I would be column D and +6 or am I missing something?

That would be right

I had asked about the elevator

It's not important right now, but it will be important later.

Stealth checks please! I guess I will roll them this time.

LOL, I'm not sure we were being all that stealthy. I'll wait to see if the other two followed. Probably will ask one of them to shut the door while he pulls the pack out.

Sadly, because I forgot the door was opened instead of closed, we are retconning things. I'd have thought that Ujio's perception of 20 on the door would have allowed him to see the pack in the door earlier, it would have jarred my memory about the door being open.

Oh, well. No blood no foul right. UM, I mean there is blood, but... never mind :)

I was motioning for you to push the back out of the way, but if you point at me and the bag I will try and push it out with the bat.

There are many buttons on the elevator but the three that are likely the most important are labeled as Basement Level 1, Basement Level 2, and Basement Level 3.

No blood no foul right!

Okay folks something funny is going on and I wonder what I pressed to make it happen. My " key does not function correctly and when I hit it a second time that: ¨ shows up. Suggestions? I am using a chromebook and if I hit the 'ált' key and can get it to work.

Yikes, Around 10:00 (est) last night one of the other GM's I play with posted in discord that Paizo was acting up. Could it be related?

A couple quick observations/requests

GM Wolf wrote:
Opening the fire doors to the South and you find a grisly sight. No bodies can be seen but there are blood splatters on the walls as the floor is covered in blood.
GM Wolf wrote:
Ujio slips on the blood but keeps standing, with a bit of bumping into the wall and the door he gets there.

I appreciate the descriptions you've been willing to give us, it really helps set the feel for a zombie game. Sadly, I can't tell how much description is so we can visualize the game, or how much is description of mechanical obstacles we have to overcome in game. If something is a mechanical obstacle we have to roll to overcome, could you please tell us and let us make the decision to proceed or not?

Also,

GM Wolf wrote:
You see that a rug has been smashed under the door keeping it open. It will likely make some loud noise. Maybe not... .

Wouldn't he have seen a rug that requires a 15 athletics check to move from his location from the double-door's threshold at the end of the hallway? He was less than 10 ft away.

What can we do to resolve the feeling of things being 'surprised' on us. I tend to 'take 10' on the skills I'm comfortable with and avoid lesser skills unless absolutely necessary. So, finding myself in an unplanned but avoidable situation that forces me to roll lesser skills is disconcerting.

Howdy! Sorry about my recent absence, it's been busy here! Moved into this apartment about a month ago, and I'm hosting Thanksgiving for friends and family! Very exciting stuff, but also quite time consuming. Hoping to be more active here, but I also recognize that I may be more distracted as well in this coming week. Enjoying the game a lot!

Most of the descriptions have been for environment awareness as they are not the norm that you are used to.

Its not a heavy rug and the rug is only in the principals office, under the door. The DC 15 check instead of an 8, is due to it being smashed under the door.

I thought saying the floor was covered in blood was a pretty obvious Acrobatics/Dex check. You are also not stating how fast you are going, I am assuming you are creeping along together as quietly as possible.

Thanks for the constructive criticism and I hope to do better in the future, please feel free to give some advice.

Thanks for the heads up Nikola, have fun and hope to see you posting some more!

Thanks for the response. I think that it's just that I'm used to playing printed material, AP's and PFS, in which they basically tell all the mechanical things up front.

my basic mode of operation is moving slow enough to make perception checks. I'll try and include stating that he's taking 10 on perception. I hadn't really thought about stealth, usually a party has armor so it's a moot point. With perception and stealth active they'd be moving at quarter speed.

Nikola or Kenzo, any preference on movement speed? We're not in armor so taking both perception and stealth wouldn't be a problem, unless speed becomes important.

When Kenzo was alone he was constantly trying for untrained stealth and moving slowly. He would be happy to keep that up. Zombie games are not a place to rush.

Slow and steady wins the 7 str, 7 con race! Especially when you've invested in stealth checks against the undead.

Yup! We can continue to develop together after all this is all homebrew! ;)

Yep!

What are we doing? I see a lot of talking but no actions...

Happy Thanksgiving! That is if you celebrate it.

Bonus time: What is your favorite food for this holiday.

Sweet treat/dessert
Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Green beans/vegi
Deviled eggs/egg thing
Olives
The drinks
Cranberries

I read the discussion question here first, so I thought I'd answer here as well. Favorite food for the holiday. Wow, not a safe question to ask a fat guy...you know I can't list just one. Mmmm, I grew up addicted to mashed potatoes and gravy, so they don't get to count since we'd have them all the time. But over the years there have been a few dishes that stand out and have become part of the tradition.

My father-in-law used to make beef roll-ups with a cream cheese and horseradish filling for appetizers, they're awesome. My daughter still makes them. She also makes a sweet potato dish that has a crumble instead of marshmallows which is really good too. The latest addition is a green bean dish I found during covid when I had to cook thanksgiving dinner for just myself, my wife and our moms. I've fixed it several times since then and folks ask me for the recipe. yeah, I saved it to my pintrest

I am found of angel food cake with pink icing. Its something an aunt brings to all the family gatherings.

I'm back! I'm not a big fan of turkey, so instead I cook a peaking duck. Had my friends and family over and it was a nice time. We like to mix it up from year to year, so other than sponge cake we really don't have a Thanksgiving classic!

Welcome back! I am generally not a big fan of the turkey either, but it did come out pretty well this year.

Just double checking on what will happen if the power goes out. Is the pool on the third floor or the roof? Either way if the power goes out the water will flood down through the building, as well as the electrical elevator stop working? (or so we would believe)

Wouldn't anyone not willing to risk their lives to get the power on be safer on the first floor rather than the basement (the lowest part of the building where the water would flow) when the power goes out? There would be more water, no lights, no power to get back up the elevator... it sounds like a potential death trap.

A good portion of the power is already going out. The energy shield for the pool would cut out last. The pool is on the third floor.

Yeah that is logical.

Sounds like a good plan to me! Though you should take either the doctor or the nurse, then Yoko or Matthew. But you choose who goes where. You will have to fight on floors 5 and 6.

I'm ok with taking all of them, or a couple of them, or none of them. Any other opinions?

Out of curiosity, you said either the doctor or the nurse. I assumed it was for medical help. I know Dr. Adrian O'Brian is a professor, is he also a doctor? I went and looked at his sheet. He's a 'prepper' with a '10' in treat injury and '9' in Craft (Pharmaceutical) (Int). So, I guess he is close enough for practical purposes.

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

Let's bring the doctor then. Good to have a medical person in both groups.

That was my thought.

Sorry folks, my time has been flush with work and holiday activities for my students. I will likely not be able to post much tomorrow night either with my energy likely being low from the daily concerts and Robotics final projects. I get through this week and will have two weeks off to enjoy the holidays, family, and post to my hearts content.

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

Oh that's wonderful! I'm working on getting my master's in education right now. I'm quite enjoying this game, so I'll be here whenever you're back!

Hey Nikola and Kenzo, as you've probably figured out, I like playing characters that can keep the game moving. But I don't want to drown out you characters making it no fun for you. Do one of you want to take point, or make more decisions, or throw in other ideas? It won't bother me, I just like to keep moving so I post that way. Any ideas how we can work you in more?

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

I mean, I'm enjoying playing the support to your action hero! The relationship between Nikola and Ujio is a lot of fun in my opinion. We're still in the first hours, I suspect that once we get a little more situated, Nikola will get a chance to shine as the expert in social skills/esotericist that she is. I'm certainly not feeling drowned out (although I can't speak for Kenzo), but if you would prefer if someone else pushed for forward momentum, I can take up that mantle. Otherwise, I'm fine as is.

Here is to being 40!!! Another great year under my belt!

Congrats GM Wolf! I hope you had a memorable time. (you're my oldest daugther's age)

Yes indeed, we had a 12 hour d&d session! It was glorious!

Cool!

HP:12|BaB:1|AC: T: FF:|Fort:-2 Ref:0 Will:5|Init:0

I'm afraid I am but a wee lad only in my mid 20's out here in the real world. Which means I'm dealing with living in a cheap apartment and eating light to make ends meet for a little while, as I work towards getting a teaching gig. Relatedly, since the place I'm living at is a bit old at this point, the Wi-Fi is down and will be until tomorrow. Since I hate formatting on my phone, I'm going to delay another day.

Best wishes to GM Wolf! Looking forward to being able to post properly again!

Opening the top of the elevator box, of the elevator you have already used you only find ladders and stairs up.

Sorry I didn't sound very clear. Is there something available, a pass or whatever, in the fourth floor detention room that will give us access to the three star doorway on the third floor?

Also, I'm assuming there is only one elevator, is that the case?

There is another elevator on the other side of the building at the far end of the hallway.
