before leaving Quiella would have put life link on Turin, Mykel, Hamish, and Pai. If I were smart she also would have got some potions or scrolls of flight for Turin before leaving but I'm guessing it's too late for that now.
Quiella heals Turin, Mykel, Hamish, and Pai 5 points of damage each.
She then heals herself and channels energy.
Quiella, lay on hands, greater mercy, fey foundling: 3d6 + 3 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) + 3 + (5) + 8 = 27
Quiella, channel energy: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 Quiella heals an extra 4 thanks to Get Foundling. I think that should hit the whole party
net +16hp to Quiella for the turn, +10hp to Turin
Finally, she draws her Lucene hammer as Turin makes his way up the ziggurat.
I think a double move should get us to the top, where Quiella should be able to threaten with her reach weapon.

Life Links are fine Quiella, I know that's your normal m.o., but I'll have to say no to retconned consumables.
Pai S is up!

@Quiella: Which Pai gets the life link?
DC20 Reflex: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

"What? Displacement? [i]Geez! Gotta make it tricky, huh? Hey, by the way, anybody have a clue what this thingy is saying?" Pai squints and strains her ears for a hint as to the creature's true location.

GM supervillan |

The ziggurat is not steep enough to be Difficult Terrain, but its tiers are only 2' wide. Traversing them needs a DC10 Acrobatics check if you move at full speed; no check is needed if you go half speed. Both Mykel and Tùrin can perform their stated moves without checks, and I've moved Quiella to where she can reach with her polearm.
The pathfinders take a blast of sorcerous fire. Quiella begins mending their wounds, and urges her sure-footed mount to face the fiend atop the ziggurat.
Pai K recognises your opponent as the Herald of Lissala: Kurshu the Undying. Hoping to prevent another fireball wiping you out, the wizard casts a suitable abjuration.
Teric blasts Kurshu with cold to oppose her fire. But the attack has no effect. Cold Resistance >=23.
Hamish tells you all that it's in the bag. Somehow, you believe him.
Mykel dashes up the steps, blade at the ready...

Pai S has no more luck with her lightning blast, the thunderbolt seemingly passing right through the Herald.
You do not even speak the holy tongue of Our Lady of Runes, and yet you dare to set foot in this sanctum!
Kurshu makes her ire known by speaking directly to your minds as she lifts her serpentine bulk into the air on six-fold wings. She glowers at Pai Shecks: I will show you lightning!
With a dismissive gesture towards the pathfinders climbing the ziggurat, the Herald sends her own bolt of lightning.

GM supervillan |

Kurshu the Undying does have Spell Resistance, if you'd like to give me a CL check please Teric.
Pai Shecks you can tell that you're within Kurshu's reach. She's at a similar height to you and has 10' reach.

"Okay, now you're talking our language. See, I gotta admit, starting with a fireball instead of trying different languages was kinda stupid on your part. 'Cause now you've pretty much convinced us that it's kill or be killed here, when we could be just talking instead." Pai babbles as she carefully backs up before sending a blast at the now-flying baddie. This time, a torrent of water with sparks crackling through it gushes from her hands at the guardian. She grimaces as if it kinda hurts to do this.
Regarding backing up: I have a memory of reading somewhere that you can't 5 foot step when flying, but I can't find it now. If I remember correctly, she moves 2 squares north. If my brain is bonkers, she takes a 5' step to avoid the AOO. I have not moved her token.
Charged Water Blast vs. AC: 1d20 + 15 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 15 + 5 = 35
Includes Inspire Courage and Point Blank Shot. This Composite Blast (2 Burn) includes Magnetic Infusion (2 Burn). Infusion Specialization mitigates 2 Burn, so Pai takes 2 Burn. I'm tracking that in her header.
50% bludgeoning damage, 50% electrical damage: 10d6 + 17 + 5 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 6, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1) + 17 + 5 = 47
Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
If that hits, the serpentine creature needs to make a DC 22 Con save vs. Magnetic Infusion.
If it hits, even if it does no damage, attacks on Kurshu made with metal get a +4 to hit until the end of Pai S.'s next turn.

Túrin, Quiella's Companion |

Túrin Reflex, good hope: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 2 = 19
At the rate he keeps failing his saves, Túrin isn't going to last very long... in fact, 29 + 43 = 72, which is more than his HP, so here's hoping Quiella disrupted the spell. Otherwise Túrin is down and I'm not sure what that means for Quiella's turn.

GM supervillan |

Kurshu took a flying 5' step out of melee reach; I took your previous post to mean that you wanted to get within melee reach with your hammer, rather than being adjacent to Kurshu where you could not use the hammer and would have drawn an AoO when leaving a threatened square.
If Tùrin fails his save, he's unconscious and dying and prone. Quiella can Soft Fall with a DC15 Ride check, which is not an action. If she passes, she's standing adjacent to Tùrin (choose which square). If she fails, she's prone in Tùrin's square and takes 1d6 damage.
If Kurshu has been Threatened when casting she'd have auto-passed the Concentration check to cast defensively for a Lightning Bolt in any event.

![]() |

Quiella has armor spikes for adjacent AoOs when using a reach weapon. But I was not thinking about that. PF2 has addled my PF1 brain. Waste of a 20 and 19; Turin could have made his save!
and now I know why people invest in the Ride skill...

does Hamish have evasion or something? I'm not sure why he doesn't have damage in the tracker. If he took no damage from the fireball then Quiella should have full health pre-lightning bolt, since she took 5 dmg from life link with him. I'm going to operate this turn as if he is still damaged.
Quiella heals Turin, Hamish, Pai S, and Mykel 5hp each. Turin is now stable at 0hp
if I did my math right she's at 44dmg right now... I'm going to gamble my swift action here...
"Begone in the name of Erastil, foul one!" Quiella cries out, smite evil, +6 AC, etc. then she swings her hammer hard twice at the flying menace.

bludgeoning, silvered, bypasses DR (Smite): 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 7 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 + 7 + 9 = 35

GM supervillan |

Kurshu's lightning proves more deadly than Pai S's. Although Mykel and Quiella withstand the thunderbolt, Tùrin falls. Quiella slips from the saddle...
Mykel hacks at the Herald's tail as she flaps above him. Since Mykel's now standing atop the ziggurat, I will say he can reach her. There's not actually enough ceiling clearance for Kurshu to just fly up out of reach. Two powerful blows cleave into Kurshu's scaled flesh. Her six wings beat furiously to keep her aloft.
Teric aims a fire blast...
Reflex DC22: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
...it catches Kurshu full-on, but Teric sees that it caused little damaage. She has significant Resist Fire.
Pai Shecks dodges away from Kurshu...
Pai S acrobatics, good hope: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 2 = 27
Kurshu AoO: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7INT drain: 1d4 ⇒ 3
...but isn't agile enough to escape the Herald's swat. Pai S feels not just bruised but also begins to wonder what she's doing - and who she is. Maybe it would be better to just obey. Then she gathers her wits and retaliates with a more powerful blast.
Fort DC22: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
The blast strikes true, but as with the pathfinders' other attacks the impact is less than expected. Resist Electricity AND DR both apply - but I don't think you need to roll against SR for your Charged Water blast, it is listed as a Physical composite blast.
Quiella's divine healing keeps Tùrin from death's door. The paladin decides that she's had enough already, and calls down Erastil's judgement upon Lissala's wretched servant. Her first blow is put off by having just leapt from the saddle, but the second, aided by Hamish's inspiration, finds the mark. Kurshu gasps aloud in anger and surprise.
You may have bled me, mortal, but Krune has mastered the rune of armour and your blades shall never pierce his flesh! Alacrity bestows him with a sixth sense with which he anticipates intentions and actions. Still other runes feed him divine power, strengthening his body and mind, as well as assuring him immortality.

Pai Kromnite thinks the Herald is on the back foot - or wing, perhaps - but Kurshu laughs cruelly and harshly at Hamish's bargain.
You think I should surrender to YOU? I am hardly beaten. Though I possess only a fraction of my full power, I am more than a match for the unworthy!
Kurshu beats her wings and retreats out of reach of her assailants. Now 25' up and above the southern side of the ziggurat, only Quiella's polearm might reach her, should the paladin take the top of the structure.
The Herald's magic plays about her - runes of glowing power - and suddenly her words seem more real, her threat more tangible. How can mere mortals best the handmaiden of a goddess?

Although Tùrin finds himself repelled by Kurshu's fiendish form, Quiella's hammer is strongly attracted! A crushing smite smashes the Herald's abdomen, and she plummets to the ground, unconscious.
Kurshu's wounds are already healing - but not quickly enough. Quiella keeps smashing the fallen Herald until the Repulsion effect expires and a little experimentation with cantrips reveals that acid prevents her further regeneration. Kurshu the Undying has died.
Out of Combat!
Once you gather together on the southern side of the ziggurat where Kurshu fell, you see that the blood of the dead Herald has formed curious rune patterns on the ground around her:
The descending stairs terminate at a large stone door that has neither handle nor keyhole. Carved into the door’s centre is a large seven-pointed star, known as a Sihedron, with a palm-sized disk of blue-green metal inlaid into each point and a handprint embedded in its centre. The disks glow softly with blue-green light, illuminating several runes that surround the handprint.
Pai K easily identifies the blue-green metal as abyssium, a type of skymetal associated with sloth that also gradually sickens those who carry or contact it. In addition to its poisonous properties, abyssium can produce and store large amounts of energy.
