Teric Cain
|
Teric takes the potion from Pai and drinks it, feeling better almost immediately. "Thank you. We need to stick together! Krune is summoning things to do his bidding, but if we can destroy them without him here, it'll be better for us. Running around to find him, lets him pick us off, I think."
"Now, where are those demons? We need to kill them."
Healing: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 1) + 5 = 12
Ability healing: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Does this take both Teric's Move and Action to drink?
Pai Shecks
|
"Well, they ain't here, but that nasty cloud is blocking our way out so... I mean, I don't wanna get dead in it."
Sooooo.... Is that Cloudkill gonna just chill in that corner for many minutes, blocking the door? Does it squish up against the wall and get flat? Does it seep through cracks in the wall and "go away"? Guess we'll find out!
Hamish the Bard
|
Hamish moves back down the pyramid and collects his mace, "I agree with sticking together. Where are the other two? Hopefully still alive. I don't know anything about demons, but some creatures were screaming really angrily when I came in this room with my daylight."
His words seem to be less inspiring than usual.
Gonna stop IC, for now. Save a few rounds at least.
| GM supervillan |
Since Pai S has no special ability to find you in your Obscuring Mist Teric I will say that yes, you do need to use your Move and Standard to take and drink her boon elixir. The boon says is it consumed like a potion.
Quiella thinks about repairing some of the damage caused by the Cloudkill spell, but realises that her spell would take too long to cast.
I haven't applied Life Link healing Quiella, I assume you're dropping the links now per your comment in Discussion?
Hamish recovers his mace, and Teric is somewhat rejuvenated by a miraculous potion gifted by Pai Shecks.
Mykel stands close to Hamish since he can't see the fliers amidst Teric's mist.
But what of Pai K?
If she screams the rest of you might hear it, although there is a ruddy great stone ziggurat between you and her - except for Quiella and Tùrin. I'll roll Perception checks if needed.

Pai Kromnite PFS

Pai definitely screams as loud as her small lungs could bellow. She tries to 5’ step away and withdraw after, if she’s able to tell the direction the attacks from the demon came. She realized she was in a ton of trouble however. All for being dumb enough to forget a light source!
| GM supervillan |
Pai K the attacks came from more than one direction. A 5' step precludes a Withdraw action. You cannot take a 5' Step whilst effectively blind. And since Withdraw doesn't prevent AoOs from invisible opponents you'd provoke AoOs anyway. In this case Withdraw is no different than Move or Double Move. Remember you're at half speed whilst you can't see.
Base DC -10, +1 per 10' distance, additional penalties for mass of stone and unfavourable conditions / distraction.
Pai K: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Pai S: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Mykel: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
Quiella: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Pet Turin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Hamish: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Teric: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
South of the ziggurat, Quiella and Tùrin hear Pai K screaming from the outer corridor. Mykel hears it too.
Quiella and Tùrin are still to act. Mykel you can revise your action if you wish. Pai K let me know if you're going Total Defence or if you wish to move somewhere.
Quiella
|
Assuming that she doesn't have to save for cloudkill again since she was already in it this round, Quiella will *not* drop life link. If she has to save again then I think she'll have to drop it... I'm going to post as if she doesn't have to save again.
Only 10 dmg from life link since only Turin and Pai S are above the 5dmg threshold
"PAI! She's screaming in the hallway!" Quiella shouts. She drops her hammer, wheels Turin around and drives him out into the hallway. She taps herself with a healing hand and draws her greatsword as she goes. She moves up next to Pai...
Quiella, lay on hands, favored class, greater mercy, fey foundling: 3d6 + 3 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) + 3 + (1) + 8 = 26
Should have thought to switch from hammer to greatsword in a previous round after hearing about the shadows. oh well.
She can get to her current spot on the map with one move action from Turin, but she'll stop as soon as she's adjacent to a shadow.
... and swings her sword at the nearest shadow!
free action to life link and drop hammer, swift action to self-heal, move action to move 50' and draw her greatsword, standard action to attack
+1 Holy Cold Iron Greatsword, power attack: 1d20 + 17 - 3 ⇒ (9) + 17 - 3 = 23

"PAI! She's screaming in the hallway!"
"Wha? No I'm not! ... ... Oh. OH! Other Pai!"
| GM supervillan |
Saves against Cloudkill are triggered on Krune's turn if you're in the cloud at that time.
Quiella urges Tùrin to turn about and ride to Pai K's rescue. Heading east towards her fellow gnome's cries, the holy warrior sees two shadow demons assailing the wizard. Pai K is blind in the darkness. Quiella rushes to attack, blessed sword in hand. A blow is struck for Justice and Good! But a shadow demon is too strong to be felled so quickly...
I've placed two shadow demons on the map next to Pai K, they are not invisible but they are in total darkness.
I'll pause till tomorrow to see if Mykel is staying next to Hamish or heading into the Cloudkill.
Mykel Therinor
|
Mykel slows his breathing and gets read to run through the cloud of gas. He gets out his ioun torch to shed some light.
sorry..got busy and had some stuff to deal with today...just moving to edge of gas..so i can run through it next round...

So you're saying that if someone moves completely through the cloudkill they would not have to make a save as long as they aren't in the cloud on Krune's turn?
| GM supervillan |
So you're saying that if someone moves completely through the cloudkill they would not have to make a save as long as they aren't in the cloud on Krune's turn?
I double checked this. There are rules outside of the spell description that must also apply. p.215 Core Rulebook: "Creatures become subject to the spell when they enter the area and are no longer subject to it when they leave." (Under discussion of spell durations).
To be completely clear then: if you pass through the Cloudkill area you will need to make a save, AND if you're in the area of the Cloudkill on Krune's turn you'll need to make a save.
Just in case this has caused confusion, Mykel please confirm you're happy with your stated actions.
Mykel Therinor
|
sorry for the confusion...i was just saying he's slowing and then holding his breath for RP purposes...i fully expected to have to make a save...goods thing the antitoxin still gives me +5...
| GM supervillan |
Quiella finds Pai K and strikes at one of her attackers. The injured wizard turns turtle.
Mykel remembers his own light, and steels himself for a dash through the toxic fog.

The two shadow demons take great delight in tearing at the vulnerable Pai K, wounding her so severely that she loses consciousness and floats to the ground.
Then, a wave of force strikes Pai K and Quiella. Will DC19 for each of you. On a fail you will be hurled back into the Cloudkill vapours and take 1d6 damage as you slam into the rear wall. Quiella, if you fail but Tùrin succeeds you'll be dismounted as you're hurled backwards and will take an additional 1d6 damage. If you're dismounted you can avoid landing prone, and the additional damage, with a DC15 Ride check.
Quiella and Tùrin briefly glimpse a third shadow demon behind the first two, before it vanishes into the dark again.

"Coming, other Pai! Oh, this is gonna suck." Pai S. barrels out of the not-scary-death fog around Teric and into the scary-death-fog that's *super nasty*. She grabs the door frame to help swing herself around (having the turning radius of a boat has its disadvantages), pops out of the bad cloud and heads straight up to the ceiling. "Oh no! Other Pai! The ghostie gobblies--!"
Fort. Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Lovely.

Quiella, if you fail but Tùrin succeeds
This was an editing fail. Originally Pai K, Quiella and Tùrin were all going to be targeted, but then I looked up how heavy reindeer are :
Tùrin doesn't need to Save, just Quiella and Pai K, and Pai K has passed hers.
| GM supervillan |
Hamish rushes back through the Cloudkill. Though he suffers for it, his potent light spell reveals three shadow demons. The demons react with obvious fear and hatred.
Pai Shecks likewise leaves the ziggurat chamber to fly to her namesake's aid. CON damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Teric Cain

Teric decides that he needs to heed his own advice and stay with the others. However, he's unwilling to go into the deadly Cloudkill mists again. He whispers a single word and is shunted through space to appear on the other side of the wall in the corridor.
Cast Dimension Door. He's still flying as high up as the corridor will allow.
Quiella

Quiella, will save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Quiella, spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
"Telekinesis..." Quiella mutters under her breath.
Quiella heals Pai S and Hamish via Life link. At only -16hp she's going to not use lay on hands this round
Quiella slashes at the shadow with her greatsword twice. If it somehow goes down on the first attack, then Turin will 5' step into its space so the second attack can go against the other shadow

| GM supervillan |
Adjusting the combat tracker to show current hp. Quiella does not lifelink-heal Hamish on her round 8 action, so she's at 11 damage or 56/67hp.
Quiella recognises the shadow's attack and resists it. She swings her holy sword, hitting twice. Inspire Courage is no longer active, but an 18 still hits.
damage: 1d10 + 8 + 9 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 9 + 2 + (6, 6) = 39
Teric reappears, looking much better for Pai Shecks' miraculous potion.
Mykel CON damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Mykel races through the cloudkill.
The shadows withdraw from the light, screaming. They fade into the walls.
There is still no sign of Krune. No other servant creatures show themselves. The pathfinders have regrouped, but Pai K lies close to death.

Thanks for the HP clarification, I had half a heart attack for a moment there.

Last CMW: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14
Quiella

Did you roll a second attack roll for me, GM? I realized that I only rolled the first attack, not the second iterative. I see you rolled the second damage... Oh, because I would only miss on a 1?
I'll roll the second attack now just in case
+1 Holy Cold Iron Greatsword, power attack, good hope: 1d20 + 17 - 3 + 2 - 5 ⇒ (15) + 17 - 3 + 2 - 5 = 26 your damage roll is fine with me for the second attack
Pai Shecks

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Pai S. heaves a huge sigh of relief when Pai K's eyes flutter open. "Oh, thank goodness you're all right, Pai!" She opens up her handy haversack and flies down to the group. "Everybody grab a potion and chug it! We gotta kill that guy with the toddler scribbles all over him before his sloths* attack us!" She reaches her own hand in and pulls out a red feather. "Ooo! Pretty!"
*(She remembers that Krune is the Runelord of Sloth, but not that this "sloth" isn't a mammal? Really? Oh, Pai.)
Move action to fly down, standard to hold open the handy haversack and pluck out the feather. Using the feather will have to be next round.
Anyone else can grab a healing potion or scroll if you want one. She has:
potion of cure light wounds (1)
potion of cure moderate wounds (3)
potion of cure serious wounds (2)
scroll of Cure Serious wounds (1)
Radiant Ruby Feather (1; see Discussion for description)
Quiella
|
Quiella drops Hamish from her life link (swift/immediate) and then adds Pai K to her life link (standard action).
| GM supervillan |
Quiella, I thought I had rolled a second attack but obviously didn't, thanks for catching that and making your roll :)
Hamish ensures that Pai K remains amongst the living - for at least a while longer anyway.
Quiella adjusts her mystical connections to the group.
Pai S flies down to ground level and opens her magic haversack, withdrawing a marvelous ruby feather and offering the rest of the team a lucky dip! I'm sure you all know already, but just to remind you that you always get what you look for from a Handy Haversack (as long as what you are looking for is actually inside), and taking an item from one is a Move action that does not provoke AoOs.

The illusionist pulls her wand of infernal healing and activates it the next round that she is able.
| GM supervillan |
Teric makes like a cleric and heals his wounds with a scroll from Pai Shecks' pack. Rolled a little too many hp but no difference to outcome, assuming scroll is min caster level.
Mykel proffers his own scroll in hopes of fixing the cloudkill's debilitating effect. Lesser Restoration is a 3-round cast, even from a scroll.
Pai Kromnite goes for the lucky dip too, and downs a healing potion.
The shadows do not return, and no other threats emerge.

Pai Shecks
|
Staring intently at the feather she produced a moment ago, Pai S. makes a face like she's about to drop a brick. Suddenly the feather *poofs* into flame and disintegrates into ash. "Oh--Oh! My. Gosh. I--" She looks around at everyone. "I was extra stupid for a while there, but I'm all back now. Let's go kill Krune!"
Standard action: use Radiant Ruby Feather. If anyone with light moves toward where Krune likely is, she'll go with them for her movement (60' fly, up near the ceiling).
Hamish the Bard
|
Hamish looks sheepish, then drawls, ”Wellll sheeeet, I got onadem too. Actually two.”
He pulls one out and reads the tiny words on it. After the effects kick in he adds, ”Who else needs a hit? Should take care of what the fog did to you. Otherwise, heal up, buff up and when that scroll of Mykel’s is done we all go together after Krune.”
If Pai S. Uses her second on Quiella Hamish could use his on Turin or Turic.
Pai Shecks
|
If Quiella asks Pai to use a feather on her, Pai will stay beside her until it's done.
Quiella
|
"I could use one of those... I feel quite drained."
Pai Shecks
|
"Oh, sure! Just a sec!" Rather than fly off into the darkness looking for trouble, Pai nabs her last Radiant Ruby Feather and holds it up.
So that's her move action this round. Next round's standard action will be using it on Quiella.
| GM supervillan |
The pathfinders gather round in the hopes that a collection of phoenix feathers can mend their ills. Pai Shecks and Hamish find that indeed, phoenix feathers are a perfectly effective remedy for Cloudkill toxin (and for Lissala-Herald cognitive impairment).
Quiella requests similar aid and Pai S draws forth another feather.
Mykel waves a scroll about to remind you that it won't cast itself. Nobody has begun reading his Lesser Restoration scroll yet.

Do we need Teric to try the scroll? Can Quiella cast it?
Quiella can certainly activate a Scroll of Lesser Restoration. Cast time is 3 rounds.
Quiella
|
If we're okay with spending the 3 rounds and the scroll possibly being wasted if we get interrupted, then Quiella will happily cast the scroll on whoever
Hamish the Bard
|
I am ok with trying. We have this round already plus at least one more to use the other feathers so at most it will be one extra round.
| GM supervillan |
Quiella begins casting Mykel's scroll unless Mykel objects now.
Mykel, Pai K, and Teric are up!
Krune's evasive tactics and mobility are making this a rather drawn out affair, sorry. He is difficult to pin down for sure.
