Only one PC death, not bad, not bad.

@scranford, Gretchen the mule would survive with her Reflex save of 16 unless you like the trauma inflicted by Bernie pulling her off the bridge with him. :)

Yeah, Luck rolls are weird! I don't think you can actually spend Luck on a Luck roll though, but that's up to our benevolent referee! Securing my band together with rope could have been REALLY bad news for all involved with the unlucky gongfarmer going over the edge (and nearly the elf as well), but it worked out okay in the end. Whew!

Yeah, I don’t know if you can do that either but I’ll allow it for now! :)

There seems to have been some confusion about saving throws. While you want to roll low for Luck checks, you want to roll high for saves. You succeed by rolling the DC or higher like most d20 games. So neither Slow Moe nor Aio would have fallen.

Cool...but why do I feel a little disappointed? :P

Lol, there are still lots of chances to die!

Male Human

Albion - why was there a -1 to the Reflex save?

Reflex is based on Agility, so you add your modifier to your roll. In that case, the character has -1 Agility modifier.

I’ll give people some more time to react if they want to. I’ll post again tonight before going to bed.

Male Human

Huh. Ok, so if Luck is based on Luck, why not make Agility…Agility rather than Reflex-which-is-informed-by-Agility. Because you might need to make an Agility check (roll under your Agility) rather than a Reflex save (roll higher than DC, as modified by Agility)?

For most ability checks you just use the modifier from the ability to try to hit the DC. Same with saving throws. If/when you get a class, it provides an additional bonus to saving throws so they will eventually be higher than just your ability modifier.

Luck is weird in that it is the only check where you need to roll under your Luck score. The modifier applies in other situations.

Male Human

Ah, ok, got it. Thx DM!

Mirinde and Gauward’s attacks take out a bird, leaving one left. (AC 12, hp 3)

Busy weekend is upon me, not sure if I can squeeze a post out.

Don't squeeze to hard. It'll give you hemorrhoids.

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

Lou spends the round tying Gretchen off and trying to pull her back to relative safety.

Lester swings his chisel as the bird flies closer.

1d20 ⇒ 15 Chisel (Dagger)

1d4 ⇒ 4 Point

Franc uses his new spear

1d20 ⇒ 1 Spear

1d6 ⇒ 5 Point

Eyehope Eudie lives!!!

Good tip!

The area is a bit indistinct. Is there a realistic way to garrote it with a rope and 39 people? Can a pair of us climb the fur and stab it in the eyes from both sides?

The rope doesnt seem like a feasible solution.

You can try to climb up its body if you like.

You could also look around the area for something that might help.

Male Human

Valé Aio, may he rest in pieces. Can we get a random roll to see if his spyglass manages to land safely?

No roll needed. His gear is intact and can be salvaged, if anybody stops to grab it!

Maybe the monstrosity jack-o-lantern is vulnerable to spyglasses! :D

Male Human

Dee is very clearly trying to “trick” the flaming pumpkin lanternmonster. Would he roll Personality or similar to succeed at such subterfuge? His “trick” is obviously incredibly refined and highly detailed.

Sure, go ahead and roll a Personality check. The DC is 20 so you'll likely not succeed, but there is a chance!

Okay, so we have Dee trying to trick the creature, Dell grabbing Aio’s gear, and Alisdair and Halifax trying to reason with it. Everybody else is running through the breach in the wall, correct?

Still need Stiehle’s characters actions, too.

Looks like an accurate assessment from my end :)

Still need to know if Dee and Halifax want to stay and fight or flee and join the others.

Male Human

Oh, I was waiting for an initiative update. That’s why I asked. ;)

All good. I'll post in the morning and will assume Halifax runs away as well unless he really doesn't want to.

Can Mister Wanderful throw his oil? I mean lit?

Yes, one of your other characters can light it with a torch and he can move up and throw it in the same round.

Male Human

We have one makeshift spear up for grabs!

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

Work travel till Thursday afternoon. Feel free to DMPC character to not hold things up.

How heavy is the long table? can my guys push him through the gap that's behind him?

You can try a Strength check against him, but he is a dwarf in heavy armor, so it would probably be difficult!

Male Human

But you might be able to squeeze him or at least impair him amongst/against the table…

It looks like all the humans are down after this round of attacks, leaving just the dwarf. CucumberTree may still act!

Male Human

And everyone in the 3rd rank continues to survive!

Nice!

I made a mistake earlier. The "Recovering the Body" rules don't apply to 0-level characters, who are "irrevocably slain" once they reach 0 HP.

Don’t jinx it!

I’m doing my best to do so…!

question

can we add the npc dwarf to our 0 lvl crew? what would his stats be?

Lol, nope, the dwarf has absolutely no interest in joining you.

Artemis would just gut him. But he is trying to change his ways. So he just stole from him.

What sort of weapons do we have available to scrounge off the fallen at this point? Both the bad guys and our own?

Dude had a trowel (i.e. dagger), so that's not much. I'd say dibs goes to the player of the dead PC (transferring to another of his 0-Level characters), but if the player wants to put a decent weapon out there for general consumption, let's do so.

The dwarf's battleaxe is a good weapon, as is the magical whetstone, obviously. Do we want to roll off for the whetstone, among those who have decent melee skills?

Clucky wouldn't mind the battleaxe, he's at +0 to hit, but gets +2 to damage because of his Luck score and Birth Augur. He'd jump in a roll off for the whetstone too.

Male Human

Yep, no cannibals is my go to.

The twelve humans you defeated only had clubs on them. There were two spears that the pair in the hall below had, but I think those have been claimed.

Stiehle wrote:

You could always ask the guy with the battleaxe. (Percolation) Convince him to give it to you maybe

Does first post get first claim? Just asking for future loot splits. In my experience, this sort of thing is usually handled with player discussion outside of the game, so we should probably figure out how this adventure is going to work with regards to that. I'm not usually available to post at nights, so might be at a disadvantage there...

I just thought some rp'ing would be fun. As for the rest... I'm sure the DM will be fair to whomever survives and we make it to the first lvl

No worries either way, just wondered at how we'll handle distributing loot - specifically weapon/armor upgrades and the like going forward. The battleaxe and pitchfork (i.e. spear) are pretty much the same so a trade wouldn't really matter. The thought of Mickey with the battleaxe is tempting, though... :)

That magical whetstone is nice, but now that I think on it, maybe it should go to someone without a damage bonus so that they have one. That'd give an edge to another 0-Level who otherwise wouldn't have a bonus at all due to strength.

Anyone who fell in battle with a decent weapon and no home for it? Or is Percolation's former weapon better than a simple club? That's all Mickey has at the moment.
