Hmm, can I use esoteric lore for earn income? If not, subtract 4 from the below.

Oh yes, thanks. Several of my other characters seem to make a ... career... out of failing downtime checks. Critting it is not something that happens very often.

Nope. Can't use Esoteric, the same way you can't use Bardic Lore. It's a fail either way though (but not a crit fail.)
As far as I know only bardic lore cannot be used to earn income though?

Found out today - using Esoteric Lore for downtime is grey area, but as written it's permitted. For this instance, the check failed anyway (DC is 14) so nothing changes. But going forward, I will allow Esoteric Lore for Downtime.
Great! since I also have a thaumaturge who is field commisioned... and that would be a really big change xD
