Trokkus |
Thanks for running, Qstor!
Character name: Trokkus
PFS # 238544-1
Faction: Silver Crusade
After this adventure, Trokkus will officially reach Level 12 retirement age--but there's no way he'll be taking things easy!
shaventalz |
Inga said she'd probably be sitting this one out. That would put us at five players, which is usually the worst place to be balance-wise. If she doesn't show, we probably want to find a sixth.
Trokkus |
For purchases, I'm going to spend 12000 gp to update my belt of giant strength +2 to a belt of giant strength +4.
For downtime, I'm going to spend 1,100 gp to charity (a home for orphans from the Mendevian crusades).

Other than the fact that it would be like owning the Baxter Building in the Marvel Universe, running a retirement home for Pathfinders would actually be a pretty good business.

That sounds like it would be a terrible business.
You say retirement home for Pathfinders. I hear "area where all my old enemies are resting, unarmed, and not expecting trouble."
Kahwen |
You say area where all my old enemies are resting, unarmed, and not expecting trouble.
I say, "that building that is full of people with near demi-god abilities equipped with gear of near legendary abilities."
Getting insurance would be a nightmare, though.
Trokkus |
That actually sounds like a really fun story idea--a retirement home for aged and washed-up adventurers, a murder happens, and the PCs are called in as "objective outsiders" to find out whodunnit.

Are we waiting to proceed on getting another player?

Sorry for the awkward timing, but I'm going to be away without computer access next week. I'll be back on Monday the 29th. Please feel free to bot me until then. (Trokkus can do some healing or some punching--either works!)

Just looking at what you have - seems two roguey types, a zen archer, a shammy, and a pally?
I can add more caster with a Witch, more rogue if we wanted to double down on the larceny present in the party, or add more weight to the melee. I'm thinking it is probably Lord Percy the witch, but if we already have a strong party face I'm happy to join the melee.
Below is the potential stable for this tier and what I have available/workable.
L11
Lord Sinclair 'Percy' Blakros & Boffins the Faerie Dragon - Level 11 Witch. Face skills, knows stuff, Fortune and decent healing (+Haste!)
L10
Scarlet Scoundrel & Poppy the Lyrakien (the travlleing Thieves Guild & miniature circus) - L1 Barbarian, L9 Rogue. Ridiculously jacked Rogue skills - disable device is just plain silly. Highly effective flank and spank melee build, highly mobile with good acrobatics. If you need it stolen or murdered, this pair have you covered.
Pitbull the Half-orc & Asbo the highly aggressive Owlbear (the travlleing wandering Monster encounter) - L2 Barbarian, L8 Ranger. Over-the-top perception, scent, and blindfighting - you can never escape her anger. has an Owlbear best friend, both have the same aggresive personality. Excellent for Survival scenarios too.
L9
Philthy & Bully the Mongoose
- Barbarian 1, Rogue 2, Wizard 6. Surprisingly good at melee, can out-rogue most rogues, and great source of party buffs (haste for daaaays) - a solid allrounder that can fill party gaps and help out on the frontline.
Frost & Ragnar the Mighty, Celestial Warhorse - Paladin 9. Classic Aasimar Paladin with a Celestial Horse. Lawful Good but not Lawful Stupid - Lawyer by trade, yes she judges.
Shifty |
OK when the person I thought had Roguery down pat suggests bringing moar sneak then I'm excited by the possibilities, this seems to be a pretty sneaky party so it could be a good fit - I'll bring the Rogue, she has a +12 Diplo and her sidekick has a +13 Diplo so we have some face skills as well (not great, but some!)
Option B is the Paladin for some good face + melee crunch and hang out with Trokkus for when things get rough.
Happy to hear final opinions :)

"It's worth mentioning that I'm quite good at making friends, and have had plenty of time to perfect the "mom voice". When it comes to asking those friends for favors, though, I mostly need to rely on the lowered DCs for better attitudes."
Rolls "Diplomacy to make friends" or "Intimidate to force cooperation" at 1d20+29+1d6. "Diplomacy to ask favor" is only 1d20+7.
"I also have at least something in most Knowledge skills. Sinclair and I might have a bit of overlap. That said, it's a late-season scenario, so skill checks are much more likely to be a thing, and another caster would be quite welcome."
Knowledges range from 9+1d6 to 16+1d6. Familiar has +5 on all but three Knowledges - last three are 11/12/15.

Given that DC25 Local spoiler, I'm thinking there's maybe a skald in the area. Any objections to picking up a scroll of Calm Emotions? Low DC, but if it's specifically working up the crowd, that's probably a whole bunch of 1hd commoners.
shaventalz |
Lord Blackadder here has a bunch of Taldor related chronicles and boons - Noble, Lion Blade, Leidang of the Ulfen Guard, Blakros admittance, and up to 'Spymaster' on the Sovereign Court faction card. He is one tick off completing Senatorial candidate (which this scenario will give him and he becomes a Senator of Taldor) and this adventure will tick him over to 12. So in short, he acts up the slightly scatty noble, but is much more James Bond
James Bond with a dragon. That last bit's probably important.
Does Boffins carry a silenced wand of Magic Missile?

If I could get away with that I would... sadly not on the spell list :p
Not on the Witch list, no. But faerie dragons cast as sorcerers, and this FAQ specifically calls them out as being physically able to carry and activate wands. I would assume that means they're able to freely activate wands of sor/wiz spells, and if not, he's got some UMD to work with.

has anyone played Pathfinder Society Scenario #9–02: A Case of Missing Persons, or Scenario #8–06: Reaping What We Sow. with this Character?
Granny played Reaping What We Sow.

Ok so she recognizes Armeline
Does anyone have a Liberty's Edge boon from Pathfinder Society Scenarios #6: Black Waters, #3–16: The Midnight Mauler, #4–16: The Fabric
of Reality, #5–99: The Paths We Choose, #7–05: School of Spirits,
or #9–02: A Case of Missing Persons.? With THIS PC.

Half of those predated Liberty's Edge, and at least three of them have no faction-specific boons (Andoran or otherwise.)
While Granny has played School of Spirits, she's not Liberty's Edge, and so didn't earn the boon you're asking about.

Granny picks up the letter and holds it up to the light, hoping to spot any tell-tale signs of the method used to hide its contents.
T10 Linguistics: 10 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + 29 + (4) = 43 Codebreaking (and probably related spycraft) falls under Linguistics
T10 Perception: 10 + 12 = 22
Failing that, she rolls it up and bops it on the nearest hard surface a few times. She'd heard a few people swear by "percussive maintenance", and it probably couldn't hurt at this point.
Just waiting for the slides
shaventalz |
sorry about that. Try now
I can see them now, thanks.
This post says we have "2 notes", but there's only one written handout in the slides. Is the second thing we have a picture of Petulengro?

Ooh, ominous!
GM question moved to PM
Trokkus |
I'm back--thanks for your patience everyone.
shaventalz |
what did you do with the note? And I noticed no one rolled Know Nobility at the beginning so feel free to roll and check here
I assume you're talking about the letter that was given us during the briefing?
Also, Granny hit the DC25 Nobility spoiler in this post.

Question about the last IC post...
These arguments are an effect of
the pakalchi sahkils guarding the prison and influencing
nearby people, though it is unlikely that you would reach
such a conclusion on your own without further information.
Are we supposed to know that, or was it copied in accidentally?
GM Qstor |
Question about the last IC post...
** spoiler omitted **
Trokkus |
@PCs: I happen to have a boon for a +5 bonus to one Bluff or Disguise check against someone from Galt! I've had it for several years and never thought I'd get to use it :) I also have a boon that allows me to cast possession once, which could be useful depending on the plan.
Granny Cheechatkae |
We might also think about splitting up for "gather information" types of checks, or at least what we think are the safe ones.
So far, I can see:
-Scope out the prison
-Ask locals about the guards
-See if any locals were in/around that prison when it was a debtor's prison? Maybe get some information on its layout
-Check for rumored reasons for the unrest around the prison
-Prison is rumored to be haunted? Maybe see if there is a local Pharasman church that knows anything?
-Ask locals about the Gardener Natharanak found out about in the briefing (the one that works without a mask). Get some idea of whether we're likely to accidentally trip over him somewhere, or whether we could disguise ourselves like him.
Shifty |
That is sort of my plan, have a few scouts, have a few investigators.
Granny, Trokus, and Percy would be good at going off investigating.
The named Gardener would be a good place to start for us, whilst we chase down more information on the haunting and the prison in general.
Trokkus has Possession and I have a few similar 'coercive' spells...
