Fynn weathers the bites and venom better than others. He strikes with his spear and the centipedes just barely manage to skitter out of the way (miss). He thrusts again and this time centipedes die in a two foot radius from where he struck.

Savan blasts the mass of centipedes and more die to the sizzling acid. Jig's power comes up short, so he blesses the fallen catfolk while strategically withdrawing. Grammy wakes the poor, beset catfolk with a wave of healing power.

Bashii climbs shakily to his feet. Not knowing what else to do, he pulls out a throwing knife and throws it vindictively at the swarm, expressing his disgust at it...

"Thank you Grammy!" he calls gratefully.

I just realized Bashii is woefully inadequate to dealing with swarms.

Bashii's throwing knife skips through several tangled centipedes, leaving scattered legs and chitin scales everywhere. The swarm is now significantly diminished by your whittling attacks. Unfortunately for Savan, there is still a dangerous number of the venomous bugs, and they surge toward him.

The catfolk dances and hops out of the way of the initial surge, and he does a good job of shaking off those that finally get hold of him, but a few still make it under his clothes. The painful twitching in his muscles increases in intensity.

Savan's bot saves: Crit Success Reflex, Success Reflex, Critical Fail Fortitude, which is no different than a Fail in this case. In case you want to Hero Point any of those.

And scatter them Fynn does as his second spear strike seems to cause more of them to die than he actually strikes. The dozen or so remaining centipedes scatters to the shadowy cracks and crevices around the room.

Savan breathes a sigh of relief at Fynn dispersing the rest of the swarm. He pull a lesser antidote from his pack and moves over to help Grammy drink it.

If Savan can feed this to Grammy before her turn starts, he'll do that. If he can't do it before she needs to make that save, he will delay to see what her save result is. If she succeeds, he'll hand it to Bashii.

Grammy will run out of the tomb (remembering the trap) and desperately look for a berry on some shrub or cactus or something that she can cast goodberry on to feed to the rest of her team.

While Grammy makes the long hustle back to the surface--in the midst of a sandy desert--in search of berries, she is fails to notice that her muscles are no longer burning quite so much.

Savan and Bashii suffer quite a bit from the poison, but despite the catfolk's pessimism, Bashii survives until it burns out in his system. Savan's vision gets blurry from the pain, but he too manages to survive as he fights off the poison.

By the time Grammy returns with the berries she has conjured, they have caught their breaths and are ready to move.

Mourning the poor Durvin Kline or not, you take a bit more caution in exploring the rest of these ruins. You find a burial chamber that is some sort of mockery of the traditional burial chamber. Clearly inferior weapons and armor were placed here. Time and the elements have not been kind to them.

In another room, you find what must have been "Durvin Kline's" camp. Most of the things here are mundane explorer's equipment. However, there is a satchel with a few trinkets presumably looted from the ruins, including a curved dagger with an onyx in the pommel and a mirror decorated with a serpent motif.

Another chamber bears paintings on the walls that depict a man in ancient Osirian robes leading an army of hundreds of skeletal warriors against a city. Savan recognizes the city as Sothis, albeit as it appeared roughly a thousand years in the past. There are several other figures behind the robed man leading smaller armies. Their faces have been chiseled out and each has Osirian graffiti scratched across their bodies.

Savan goes to examine the carving of the man in Osirian robes. He tries to think about their meeting with 'Durvin Kline' and compare if there are similarities.

"Skeletons? Mr. Jackal would not be happy." Jig scratches his head at the carving, then examines the remains of the fallen researcher.

"Nighty, night, boss. Hopefully your heart is nice and light."

The blade and mirror mean nothing to anyone in the room. With a few days in an Osirion library, maybe you could find some link to past people or events. Savan is reasonably confident that the man on the wall and the young man posing as a Pathfinder are unrelated. The leader of the undead army bears a hawkish nose and is rather gaunt, nothing like the 'Durvin Kline' unceremoniously devoured by centipedes.

Later on, the guards are relieved to learn that you dealt with the unexpected dangers within the tomb. When you return to Sothis and submit your report to Venture-Captain Balentiir, he is also relieved that you handled the danger within the tomb and returned without fatalities. He is more concerned, however, when you describe the false Pathfinder and the efforts to excavate the tomb had begun so long before the Sothis lodge had even received permission. "Be assured that I will work with the government officials in Sothis to root out the source of this problem," Balentiir says. "Now go, rest. You have earned it."
