10) Anything else I should know?: >Deroff<, my animal companion, is a big fluffy wolf.

I have a GM Glyph, so I have an extra hero point to offer. By default I give it to the lowest level character.

Vigilant Seal

I have 2 GM Glyphs.

Would you like a 7th lvl wizard or a 7th level cleric to come>

Vigilant Seal

The wizard is a generalist and has levels in Magabaayan archetypes.
Cleric is an cleric of Calistria with levels in the Captivator archetype.

Both are elves.

Grand Lodge

I have a Rogue 6 (Cha based, Intimidation build) or a Swashbuckler 8, also Cha based but Diplomacy and Aid Another.

Bringing my 8 to replace Tyranius' level 8 on the sign up sheet puts us at exactly 19 CP and just barely in high tier. The 5's would all get a level bump. I have a Rugged Mentor boon (saving throws) that any or all of the 5's could use.

Brining my 6 puts us in low tier, and only the 7 above would be out of tier.

I was leaning toward the 8 from an RP perspective based on the mission description, but want to be sure that the half of the party that are level 5's are okay playing up.

And no, I'm not in Korea yet. Just about to depart.

Vigilant Seal

I'm reasonably rugged, and the bump helps a lot in PFSv2.

Happy to be guided by other lvl5s.

Do lower levels get OOT gold in v2?

Silver Crusade

They get gold appropriate to their level. There isn't such a thing as Out of Tier in PFS2e.

Doesn't bother me.

Verdant Wheel

1) Player name: Enchanter Tim
2) Character name: Rhaegal Dragonkin
3) PFS#-Character#: 1142-2004
4) Character Class & Level: Druid 5
5) Faction: Verdant Wheel
6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle?: Regular
7) Ancestry and Background: Kobold Warrior
8) Using a Replay Point?: No
9) Initiative and Perception?: +13
10) Anything else I should know?:
- Mechanics: Rhaegal speaks Draconic and can Wild Shape. I usually describe his spells as pseudo-breath weapons or "draconic" attacks. Similarly, his wildshapes take on a draconic flavor. No changes to any actual mechanics though.

- RP: Rhaegal is obsessed with Dragons and dragonhood. I think this is going to be fun for this adventure. Some references will be:
Jadirahx: A dragon he met and defended. He now thinks of himself as her herald.
Jinlong: Another player's kobold character who Rhaegal met and mentored recently. I think Rhaegal may use him as an ideal for what the linnorms should be.

I don't mind playing high tier with the level bump. Does anyone else have a mentor boon? I think they're free as long as your qualify with the reputation. We can get effects from two of them at a time, I believe.

Verdant Wheel

Howdy Rhaegal! Good luck on your long climb to Dragon Form.

My Background is Animal Whisperer, I forgot to fill that out.

I have purchased this mentor boon:
Worldly Mentor (Verdant Wheel)

Help low-level PCs at your table with Perception checks and Initiative rolls. Must be Liked by Verdant Wheel to obtain.

IIRC, the level bump increases these checks to +2.

Does anyone want it?

Vigilant Seal

So would the cleric or wizard be more beneficial?
The wizard can heal using natural medicine. Cleric is versatile font.

Verdant Wheel

We do have a Champion for downtime healing, and a druid who can prepare the Heal spell. I think we're good no matter which elf you pick.

If you need a tiebreaker...:
1d2 ⇒ 1 Bring the wizard.

Vigilant Seal

I think I will go with the wizard who also has a mentor boon:

While working with less experienced Pathfinder allies, you provide pointers and lead drills that ensure your newer colleagues’ attacks strike true. For any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours, you increase the Level Bump’s modifier to attack rolls and spell attack rolls to 2.

Normal A Level Bump increases a PC’s attack roll and spell attack roll modifiers by 1.

Special A PC can only benefit from two mentor boons.

Appears in Pathfinder Society

Vigilant Seal

1) Player name: Quen Pah
2) [i[Character name[/i]: Avonathalasa Caldon
3) PFS#-Character#: 43330-2006
4) Character Class & Level: Wizard 7
5) Faction: Vigilant Seal
6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle?: Regular
7) Ancestry and Background: Lore Elf Artisan
8) Using a Replay Point?: No
9) Initiative and Perception?:+14 Perception/16 to Imitative Rolls and breaks ties since she also has Elven Instincts
10) Anything else I should know? Not that I can think of.

This is the combat mentor.

I want to make sure that I am reading this right, do I keep this boon from scenario to scenario or do I have to repurchase?

** spoiler omitted **

Liam has Searing Restoration, which is not magical but essentially similar to a healing focus spell.

He also had some cold resistance, but not enough for environmental damage and it doesn't help with the fatigue. He'll buy winter clothing as well.

Vigilant Seal

Who is the third higher level character? Do they have a mentor boon as well? The extra hp one is really helpful if you are looking for suggestions.

Khaul will definitely take the attack bonus. And init/perc if there is not the option of a third one.

Envoy's Alliance

I've updated her profile for PBP and replaced Tyranius with myself on the sign in sheet.

1) Player name: Nomadical
2) Character name: Vanetta Dariav
3) PFS#-Character#: 151562-2001
4) Character Class & Level: Swashbuckler (Pathfinder Agent) 8
5) Faction: Envoy's Alliance
6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle?: Regular
7) Ancestry and Background: Half-Elf / Merchant
8) Using a Replay Point?: No
9) Initiative and Perception?: Perception +14, Initiative +16
10) Anything else I should know?: Not yet....

You keep it. You do not have to rebuy Mentor Boons.

If we're playing up (as it appears we are), the Level 5's get a level bump, and Each of them can also apply up to 2 Mentor boons offered by any character higher than 5.

So far I see:

> Miladistra's Worldly Mentor for Perception and Initiative
> Avonathalasa Caldon's Combat Mentor for attack and spell attack rolls
> Vanetta's Rugged Mentor for saving throws

Each of the other three PCs may pick 2 of these.

For future reference, if your character is Liked by multiple factions, you can buy the Mentor boon for each of those Factions, and you can offer any and all of them at a table at the same time. It's nice to have Magical Mentor for the spell casters, and everyone always likes Rugged for saves.

Magical Mentor: Any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours can prepare one additional spell of their
highest-level spell slot or cast one additional spell of their highest-level spell slot. When casting spells of a magical tradition that
is the same as the tradition you use for spellcasting, the affected PC also increases the Level Bump’s modifier to spell DCs to 2.

"(T)he tradition you use for spellcasting" includes inate and class-focus spells (including those like Paladin and Monk focus spells), since it doesn't specify that you be "a spellcaster."

Vigilant Seal

Oh, I'll take rugged rather than initial/perc then.

Verdant Wheel

Yep, Rhaegal will take Combat Mentor and Rugged Mentor.

I'm curious as to how many people get meaningful reputation in more than one faction. You have to buy the boon to get reputation in another faction, right? I suppose that's not very hard. And there is diminishing rewards at the higher tiers of reputation. Just had never thought of doing that.

Grand Archive

Everyone's taking the same two?

Liam already has Incredible Initiative and still usually goes last. Mostly because I tend to roll natural 1s on his Initiative checks. It's uncanny. Five times in a row during his second scenario, which had several shorter encounters (he never had a turn in half of them).

So... yes, I'll take Rugged and Combat Mentors.
Liam is a Magical Mentor, but doesn't grant the second benefit ever because he doesn't use magic himself. I'm trying to get him liked by Envoy's Alliance too, and then might switch back to Grand Archive.

Vigilant Seal

Chery pick scenarios that have a faction tag that you want to bulk up? That is one way to advance with a faction.

Vigilant Seal

She should get the boon that helps with spell casting. Which faction is that in?

Thank you, Vanetta, for keeping track of all of this!

Grand Archive

Grand Archive. Though you never benefit from your own mentor boons.

Vigilant Seal

I know that, however, that could help spellcasters out much more than some of the other boons that are available.

Envoy's Alliance

No problem. Given that half our party is level 5, and we're playing up, I wanted to make sure that all of the level 5s got all the help they're entitled to.

You don't have to buy Faction boons in 2e. You're thinking of SFS.

I don't find that the higher tier 2e faction awards are that great. That said, Vanetta does have the Admired boon from Horizon hunters, but sadly it overlaps and doesn't stack with stuff she gets otherwise (not sure why I bought it, now that I think about it in retrospect.)

Mentor boons are available at Liked, which is only 20 rep, so 5 sessions possibly adjusted if you do pick scenarios with the appropriate faction tag.

Having a backup, second Mentor boon has 2 other benefits. If 2 PCs have them but they're both the same faction, it would sure be nice for someone to be able to offer another option (especially true in the case where the only one available at a table is Magical Mentor for spellcasters. What if the lowest PC doesn't have spells?) Also, in the case where only 1 PC has any, and they can offer 2, then everyone getting a level bump can benefit from both.

All of my PCs will at some point get 2 Mentor boons, and then go back to champing the faction they really identify with to get to Admired, at least.

Envoy's Alliance

I think we're still missing a player.

Enchanter Tim hasn't checked in yet with his level 5 named Rhaegal Dragonkin. Whose name seems quite apt for this scenario.

Silver Crusade

He's checked in here but not dotted into Game play.

So we have:
Vanetta Dariav - Swashbuckler 8
Avonathalasa Caldon - Wizard 7
Rhaegal Dragonkin - Druid 5
Miladistra - Sorcerer 6
Khaul Irontoes - Champion 5
Liam Prentiss - Inventor 5

Nineteen Challenge Points and just into High Tier.

Verdant Wheel

Oh, sorry. I hadn't checked gameplay or discussion yet. I'll post in both.

I admit I haven't stayed up with all the changes to the boons/AcP. Didn't you originally have to have a X Champion boon to gain reputation from each faction? Is that gone now? Can you just choose to rep any faction at the beginning of a scenario?

I have not kept up with it either.

Envoy's Alliance

Buying Faction access was a Starfinder thing only, and even that's no longer the case in SFS.

In 2e and now in SFS, you can always freely switch Factions, no AcP purchases for basic Faction access.

Silver Crusade

Have we sorted out how many Hero Points everyone has?

How many glyphs are there out there? I saw Avon with 2, Mila with 1 and Liam with 1.

Vigilant Seal

Treasure Vault is on Archives of Neyths, I really like that book. Are the books more expensive in Australia, Phaeton?

Silver Crusade

New Zealand and yes. Shipping, local taxes, markups ... it all adds up. I usually get PDFs when required. It also sometimes takes nearly a month to get here and clear customs. The only thing I usually buy that needs shipping is flip-mats.
