Of Orcs and Bandits...
The orc withers under the intimidating group as the Jasper, Drektan, and Fiona return after their narrow miss with a pit trap. The orc offers"If you heal me and let me go, I'll tell you who is leading the hunt for you."
Amelia blinks and stares at the orc for a moment before she starts to laugh.
"Oh! I see now. You two have confused clemency and amnesty," she says as she gestures to the orc and Fiona. "Oh, no no no! We will not being letting you go, and what healing we may have we must keep for our own needs out here."
Érme listens to the others, and her sister engage with the orcs.
She remains impassive, only reacting at the mention of frontier justice.
"These lands may not be civilised, but we are. Our foes may not be, but we are. That is a cost I'll not pay. "
The inquisitor's jaw hardens and she nods at Emerald's words;
"We have not the capacity for prisoners. These brutes are marauders who would turn on us again if they had to... something we can ill afford."
She turns to her sister with regret in her voice;
"I am sorry Sister. Be they orc, human or elf. The penalty for banditry is death. They'll see no clemency, but their deaths should be without ceremony or cruelty. I fear hanging them as warning will not cow their kin, merely fire the flames of hate."
"Well, my sister and superior has spoken," Amelia says in a light conversational tone that doesn't fool Emre...
Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Or really anybody else.
"I'm terribly sorry chaps, but these are the wages of violence," she says before hopping up on Plumbum and guiding the horse away from the scene.
She has never been able to stand the sight and smell of death.
Given the general consensus is to kill them, no sense in dragging them with us.
The watch that night
As Emre and Amelia stand watch, it's clear that something is bothering the young half-elf. Her fingers absently fiddle with a tear in her shirt, a left over from the attack early that evening as she peers out into the gloom.
"Emre," she says, speaking for the first time since she left the aborted interrogation and pending execution of the prisoners. "Am I holding you back?"
At the Fort
The others see Amelia quail as the guardsmen inform the caravan that they are surrounded by orcs.
"More needless violence to come," she mutters to Emre, her bubbling fear clear to her sister.

Kunala |
back in the forest at the conversation
Raising an eyebrow as Tacitus threatened the orcs with 'skunk spray' Kunala turned away from the prisoners, not wanting them to see him smile. He'd smelled Maff's spray, it was bad, but not worse than death. Realizing talk was doing no good, he began to leave, pausing near the Coin sisters. Listening, as they shared their opinions about their viewpoints on civilization and executions, he considers what he knows about Abadar. Which admittedly isn't much
Pausing he looks towards the half elf as she calls her half orc her 'superior.' That did suprise him, he'd thought they were more equals, but it did make sense to have one in charge, maybe a teacher and a student. He wondered if that was the reason, they shared the same name; maybe Amelia took Érme's name while she is mentoring her. Realizing his brain started to wander, he stepped closer, wanting to communicate what he'd considered. Speaking softly, he decided to address the one in charge, "Ms Coin, remember hanging, though barbaric, IS the legal punishment for bandits. If we chose to make a quick death an option, they should purchase it with actions of their own." Nodding politely he moves towards the wagons, first picking up his bow and then, hearing the scout's potion was for healing, gathers it up along with the two sets of caltrops and the signal whistle.
The fort
Seeing the fort was clearly on high alert, Kunala wasn't sure if he was relieved or concerned. Nodding to the large man in the fancy hemet, he gestures towards where the prisoners are, "We were attacked on the road, there are two orc prisoners. Looking towards the battlements, he turns back to the man. [b]"Is there anything we can do to help while were here?"

Érme Coin |

On Watch
At Amelia's question Érme frowns, pausing before she speaks;
"Why would you say that Sister? We have always agreed that we compliment each other perfectly. The iron hand in the velvet glove... This we both know. Neither valued higher or lower. Both equal assets in Abadar's eyes."
The lean inquisitor's eyes stay affixed on the shadows and dark beyond the camp, but she continues imparting her thoughts;
"Strangely, I oft think it is the opposite... and it is I who hold you back Amelia. You like people, enjoy parlance... Are good at it. My engagement with others is part of transaction. If I speak if it serves a purpose, but folk see that. My worry is they fail to distinguish between us and my candidness does you an injustice. And injustice is something I cannot abide."
At the Fort
At the news the fort is surrounded, Érme clasps her sister's shoulder reassuringly, whispering her own thoughts:
"Violence is just another form of trade Sister. One to the Lady of Graves for the souls it claims. Stay close and I'll ensure we avoid Pharmasma's ledger for another day..."
She too adds her voice to the questions for the swan-helmed warrior;
"Where should we billet? We have been on the road for two weeks. The journey has been a hard one."

"If there's any injustice, it's someone as capable as you being saddle with a frail thing like me," Amelia counters when Emre finishes. "I can't fight. I have not the stomach for the rough justice a place this far into the wilds demands. I can barely keep up on the road. You know it as well as I that I slowed us on our trip here." She laughs bitterly. "I couldn't even put the fire that fool Jasper set alight out. And the only one I could help was myself, and I nearly couldn't manage that."
Amelia continues her vigil, peering out in the darkness, and thankfully away from Emre.
"It is my fault we got banished here in the first place. If I had learned to be more like you, maybe I could have avoided getting us involved in The Incident. Then we'd still be the Coin Sisters instead of the Tarnished Coins."
At the Fort
Amelia smiles despite her fear.
"Abadar has certainly blessed me with a sister as capable as you, Emre," she whispers back. "I just hope there'll be no need for blood to be spilled."

Tacitus Freeling |

Tacitus didn't care to debate the merits of execution styles and was happy to go along with whatever the group decided to do with the Orcs, as long as they weren't set free.
At the Fort:
upon looking the large man up and down he replies,"Yes we encountered a band of them several days ago, a well place fire spell dispersed them and a few prisoners were taken and dealt with accordingly." he said as dryly as if he was discussing the weather,"oh and a few acres of forest might be burned down...." he added as an after thought before thinking to himself Now why in the hells did you have to bring that up?
"You got a brother back at greatwall?" he says glancing at the mans belly, "you have a familiar look about you to the Sergeant on duty there."

GM Tribute |

After a discovering a burned caravan, surviving an ambush, and one night to rest and recover spells, you hurried with your prisoners to the Fort on the Sellen River. It is 29 Pharast 4710 and the weather is getting warmer and warmer. The guard captain takes you to a large table in the Bloody Axe Inn, a two-story building with an entire second story dedicated to basic rooms as your prisoners are secured.
The warrior in his mid thirties spreads a map on a large table in the tavern, and shows you the route you took to skirt the border of Pitax and Mivon and arrive at this fort. He seems agitated and explains: "I am from Mivoy, I have never been in Brevoy halfling, but all us big guys might look alike in armor. Brevoy is making some play for the Riverlands, and it has Mivoy and Pitax concerned. Our deals with the Merchant League of Mivoy has been profitable for both sides, but it appears the Merchant League is wavering in their support of our continued trade agreement. One of my spies infiltrated a meeting where Hanspur priests seemed to be advocating for plundering the trade routes rather than take smaller, steady profits. Although the Merchant League agreed to maintain the agreement, Houses of Mivoy that wanted to raid an occasional caravan were told to keep it to themselves, but make sure the tithe on the plunder made it to the Merchant League."
He draws a breath "So, our enemy includes orc warbands and now Mivoy mercenaries. We have been under siege conditions for weeks and have the vital resupply we need. We just need to hold on a little while longer."

Érme Coin |

At Amelia's words Érme's gaze briefly shifts from her vigil to her sister;
"Against the orcs neither my bolts nor spear found their target. My skills were in deficit also."
The lean half-orc returns to her overwatch with a sigh, before speaking again;
"Amelia. We are the Coin Sisters. Once prized assets of the Vault. A little tarnished now, but our lustre will be restored... Together. By the actions of us both"
At the warrior's words the Inquisitor looks to the others;
"While we have been requested to complete our mission with utmost haste, a breach in such a trade agreement should not go unpunished. The priests of discord. The unscrupulous mercenaries of Mivon. Both should suffer arrears in blood and coin."

Tacitus Freeling |

"aye those Hanspurite's are doing more than advocating, Our prisoner said they were sent by them directly." Tacitus says while chucking at the Guards comments about big guys in armor.
"what are the garrisons strengths besides the walls? Any glaring weaknesses? Are their bows and slings enough for everyone to repel an attack from the walls? Oh and I suppose most importantly, what kind of assault are we expecting??" he did his best to sound like he was a veteran of defending forts but truth be told he had only ever fired a few sling bullets from the tops of trees to repel a jungle cat or bear. Somehow I don't think this will be anywhere near that easy.
"While we have been requested to complete our mission with utmost haste, a breach in such a trade agreement should not go unpunished. The priests of discord. The unscrupulous mercenaries of Mivon. Both should suffer arrears in blood and coin."
Taddy shot the half orc a confused look before darting his eyes back to the ground, The blood I understand, but what in the gods name is she doing to their rears to get coins out? He mused to himself.

GM Tribute |

As the war council continues, there is an occasional crashing sound as a large rock lands withing the walls. "Damned Mivoy catapult, they will be closed to breaching the walls soon. I will have you hold here in the Broken Axe and we will make each building a strong point. If holding the walls becomes too much, my men will fall back to each individual building.
My orders put the safety of the caravan first. You must make the last trip to Willip which is here."
On the map Willip is just about 8km to the south. A scout comes in and whispers to the captain.
"There is Bloody Hand banner seen among the enemies, and they are definitely going to come tonight. If you like, we may can slip you out if you want to avoid the fighting and get to Willip."

Amelia Coin |

"With encouragement like that, how can I not but try," Amelia asks, her wry tone and embarrassed chuckle revealing that she doesn't exactly believe what Emre is saying, but she's willing to try anyway for her sister's sake.
Fort under siege
"What about the rest of the garrison? If the fort is doomed to fall, would it not be better to get as many out as we can," Amelia asks, knowing that any attempt to try getting the soldiers out is likely futile.

Drektan |

"If they are prepared to siege the fort, then any room for us to slip wagons past them are traps. Stealthy men on foot is one thing, but you said Willip needs the supplies, right? That means wagons. Looks like we have to survive the night."

Kunala |
Nodding his head in agreement with Tacitus' questions, Kunala listens as the captain explains about he catapults and the 'banner'. As the half elf Coin sister asks about the garrison and the catfolk makes an accurate assesment of sneaking the wagons out, Kunala consideres the information the Captain had given them in light of what his three companions had said.
Gestureing towards his companions, "Their right, we, and as many as possible, need to survive the night." Looking towards the Captain, he uses the man's own phrase. "It sounds like the 'Damned Mivoy catapults' are the key to them breaching tonight."
He looks back to the catfolk, reminding himself he needs to inquire the fellow's name. Gesturing toward the bard, "My companion is right, we can sneak a few people out, what if we do that, but instead of escaping we loop around and destroy their 'damn mivoy catapults'?

Tacitus listened to his companions words and began to nod in agreement with Kunala, "aye, are your numbers strong enough to perhaps ambush them?" he asks the officer," If we were able to disable the catapult and signal you, could you charge their encampment before they knew what was going on? A few vials of alchemist's fire should be all we need to burn it down." by now He was sure they weren't getting far from this fort without dealning with this problem. I guess we'll end up earning every single gold piece for this venture after all.

Fiona Hallowswift |

Fiona turns her head to watch each person speak in turn. She has her arms crossed over her chest with a contemplative expression. "I'm with the cat. We're here to protect transported cargo."
This halfling talks a lot of sense. I wonder what his background is.

Érme Coin |

Érme stands listening intently, nodding at her sisters words before offering up her thoughts;
"If the catapult were to be destroyed and the supplies we brought give hope to breaking their siege, then our course is clear. We should tarry no longer than is necessary lest our path to Willip is closed on the morrow. Any who would flee should be afforded the opportunity."
The Inquisitor's jaw sets as she reminds the group of their responsibility and contract:
"I would remind you all we are hired to deliver supplies not break a siege. Successfully completing our commission under such circumstances would strike a greater blow to this fell alliance than merely adding more defenders to the walls."

Tacitus Freeling |

"I would remind you all we are hired to deliver supplies not break a siege. Successfully completing our commission under such circumstances would strike a greater blow to this fell alliance than merely adding more defenders to the walls."
"D'ya think we'll strike a blow to anything by trying to escort a caravan through seige territory?" Tacitus asks the Érme, "What does your contract say about what happens is the caravan is taken? If we survive that we surely wont be paid for failure. Sometimes the most profitable course is not the most direct, and if these Bloody Hander's have the smarts to assemble a catapult, then they are smart enough to keep eyes on the fort at all times." He states before pausing to think for a moment. Can we accomplish both tasks? I understand the desire to complete the contract to the letter, but that rigidity is like to get someone killed in a situation like this.
"I do have a rather risky proposal that might keep the fort up and running AND get our supplies to mivoy; If we can sneak out once the sun sets and make a big show of destroying the catapult, any scouts who might see the caravan will most likely return to their camp, letting Emerald and the other merchants high tail it out and we can double time it to meet up with them by morning.". he takes a breath and looks at the captain, "It doesn't break your siege by any means, but if we can take out the catapult and get word to Mivoy, you might get some reinforcements in time to survive it."

Amelia Coin |

"Emre's right. We were hired to escort the caravan. I don't see how splitting from them fulfills that contract. We may have to attack the besiegers to get our charges safely home, but I would rather not risk our enemies having enough men to fight us and capture or destroy the caravan while we are away."

Drektan |

"Trying to make it clear, I think I am hearing several related courses of action. Forgive me for the over-simplification." He ticks off each count on a furred finger as he speaks. "1) Stay inside the fort and attempt to defend what's left of the caravan during the siege. 2) Attempt to assist in breaking the siege, keeping the caravan within the fort until we succeed, or not. 3) Attempt to assist in breaking the siege, sending the caravan through in an escape attempt while we have the attackers flummoxed. 4) Get some of the soldiers to attack the catapults instead of us, and upon signs of success, lead the caravan through enemy territory in an attempted break. 5) Just take the caravan and make a break for it."
He looks at his companions before continuing. "We have already agreed that 5) will fail. The captain here suggests that 1) will lead to failure as well, as he doesn't believe the fort can withstand this assault for long. If 4) was an option we wouldn't be having this conversation, it would have already been started. So, it appears our meaningful choices are to attempt to break the siege, and either keep the caravan behind these walls or have them make a break for it and hope we can catch up to them. Maybe I'm overly simple, but I think keeping the caravan as safe as we can until we can rejoin it is the better choice, so I would propose we attempt the guerilla action while the wagons and merchants remain here in slightly less immediate danger. But such decisions are never in my purview." He actually BOWS slightly as he moves away from the center of discussion and towards one of the walls.

Kunala |
Sitting back in his chair Kunala watched as different members of the caravan guard shared their opinions. As he watched he wondered if this was why his father had poked fun at the Andorens all the time.
As the catfolk intelligently and efficiently listed the options they had all offered, Kunala was impressed with catfolk's ability to succinctly evaluate each option and come to a reasonable conclusion. Nodding his head in agreement, he hoped their employers would feel the same way.
Watching as the others reacted, Kunala reminded himself that he needed to learn the catfolks name. Maybe Taddy would know his name. They'd been working together long enough that it would be embarrassing to admit he couldn't remember it to the bards face. Blast, he couldn't even remember hearing someone call the bard by name, how embarrassing was that?

Amelia Coin |

Amelia listens to the catfolk eloquently layout their options, and realize that he'd summed everything up rather nicely. There isn't a lot of wiggle room. It was either try to break the siege or run the caravan through its teeth.
"He seems to have a level head on his shoulders," she whispers to Emre.

GM Tribute |

The captain listens to your plans carefully and the scout casually mentions "You are talking to number 56, show some respect."
Jasper looks surprised at this revelation. Emerald adds "I can inspire the troops with my bardic music, and Jasper can use his bow from the walls. I also can heal any wounded and get injured troops back in the field."
Mivoy has a Dueling list ranked from 1 to 100. To advance you have to beat the person above you in a duel. The top of the list leads the country. 56th best is not shabby. Think Chronicles of Riddick to some extent.
The captain nods and gets a determined look saying: "We are outnumbered about two to one by my count. Charging earthworks to get to the catapult against orcs was never an option, especially at night and this fort was not expected to withstand siege attacks. Count Jasper and Emerald have some resources, and obviously you can add to the defense too. I am rotating my men to disguise our numbers, and this fort looks less defended than it is--keeping you in here helps disguise our strength and adds to that. There are no windows, but there is a trap door in the last room on the right that leads to the roof. Now I will add to our defenses personally."
As he turns to the scout, the scout hands him an aldori sword in a scabbard. This sword is made of cold iron, and as the captain draws it two entwined pikes (carnivorous fish) adorn the length of the blade on both sides and heatless flame begins to burn along the blade and shed light brighter than any torch you have seen. As the scout buckles the scabbard on the captain's side, he breaks into the first smile you have seen on him.
"We ready to hunt? Or we sneaking you out?"

Taddy listened, impressed by the cat's ability to lay out the situation so well,"Well I think that about sums up the long of short of it..." he looks at the cat, realizing he never did hear his name,"cat." he says, trying not to sound insulting.
Did we really go this long without learning his name? Kunala, Fiona, Amelia, Érme, and.... Oh blast it I never learned his name. He thought to himself, turning a shade of pink as he mulls over his own embarassment.
The captain nods and gets a determined look saying: "We are outnumbered about two to one by my count. Taddy Raises his eyebrows upon hearing Jasper's title for the first time, Count Jasper? that certainly adds a unexpected wrinkle.
"We ready to hunt? Or we sneaking you out?"
Taddy returns the smile, flashing white teeth,"Me'n Maff are always ready to hunt."

Érme Coin |

Érme listens to Tacitus' retort before responding in a flat tone;
"I do have some concerns Master Tacitus. If the Bloody Hand have eyes on the fort at all times, then the proposed stealth mission is already a forlorn hope. To recklessly pursue such an action is likely to also get someone killed..."
She pauses, briefly looking to her sister before continuing;
"The blow I spoke of is one struck is against the mechanisms of chaos not disrupting the righteous congress of trade. There is a deeper reason why Priests of Hanspur galvanise orcs against the rule of law in this region, a grader scheme not revealed as yet."
The tall inquisitor's expression softens a little at Drektan's summary and bow.
Fine clarity from the cat.
She turns back to the halfling;
"Your proposed plan does have merit Hunter. If the forces who surround the fort value their machine of war, then burning their asset will draw them to the saboteurs for vengeance. With attention drawn to the pyre, the priests could be vulnerable to a direct strike against them. Against chaos."

Kunala |
Chuckling at Tactus' response, Kunala looked around the table, his eyes landing on the half orc Coin sister as she explained her earlier statement. He still hadn't figured the sisters out. Neither of them seemed cut out for 'guard duty' but neither of them struck him as the preachy banker type either. Having been too busy trying to keep the orc scout from killing him, he hadn't seen how either of them had done in the fight. But it sounded like he may have the opportunity to see them in action tonight. Looking from Érme back to Tactus, Kunala shrugs, "If Taddy and Maff are ready to hunt, so am I."

GM Tribute |

The battle begins in earnest, and from what you can tell, the earthen works seem to be highly resistant to catapult fire. So much so that an occasional boulder makes into the fort and hits one of the wooden buildings with greater effect. The door to the center of the fort is propped open, and the sound of battle is heard from outside.
Emerald sings an inspiring song, and the orc drummer you heard earlier in the forest begins a martial tune and orcs rally around a Bloody Hand banner.
The tavern is converted to a hospital as wounded soldiers are brought in with burns and arrow injuries. Any healing aid provided by you will restore them back to the battle quickly.
In the commotion of the moving in and out of the tavern, Drektan and Erme find they were given a water jug with a note.

GM Tribute |

After you help or watch the treatment of wounded the siege seems to be going much in the defenders favor for the next hour. Then two explosions are heard and the fort is fighting hand to hand. The savage orcs seem to be hard to bring down, despite the superior tactics of the defenders. The Captain is fighting with his guard at the gate (south on map) when the scout arrives and quickly shouts:
"Captain say you need to sally out and hold the orcs coming from the breach."
Any healing given to wounded will help the defenders.

Tacitus Freeling |

Back at the discussion:
She turns back to the halfling;"Your proposed plan does have merit Hunter. If the forces who surround the fort value their machine of war, then burning their asset will draw them to the saboteurs for vengeance. With attention drawn to the pyre, the priests could be vulnerable to a direct strike against them. Against chaos."
By this time Taddy had produced his pipe and snuffbox and had a tinder hovering over the bowl when he took a long draw and exhale before waving out the flame and glancing up at Érme,"Thank ye" he says between puffs,"I know you meant no harm, but unfortunately I think we find ourselves fresh out of guaranteed safe plans. Lets hope this one tips the scales of harm toward the orcs once more and by this time next week we may well be regaling the next fort of our victory. he says with a nihilistic chuckle. Or we might all be dead; not a worry I intend to dwell on tonight though. he thinks to himself as he settles into a chair for any modicum of comfort he can find before the battle
Now, during the siege:
Tacitus looked on at the wounded and dying, feeling guilty for not using his only potion on them,I wish I could say I knew Maff and I wont need it tonight....
The Captain is fighting with his guard at the gate (south on map) when the scout arrives and quickly shouts:
"Captain say you need to sally out and hold the orcs coming from the breach."Any healing given to wounded will help the defenders.
Taddy, looks up to Kunala, then to the rest of the group before motioning his head say Lets go. He'll mount up on Maff, before whispering in his ear again until Maff begins to change again, this time small decorational long horns appear atop his head, and a ring shows up around his notsrils, and he takes on a significantly more muscular and bovine look. Switching Maff to aspect of the Bull for +2 Strength for him.
Once mounted, he'll look to the scout and barks "SALLY HO!!" before rushing out to the breach.

Nervously pacing around the tavern they'd been left in, Kunala watched as they dragged in the wounded and dying. He could hear the elf woman singing and the orc drums beating, he knew he was of little to no use here helping the wounded; even offering a kind word, made him feel like a coward hiding here as others fought and died.
Didn't know if we wanted to wait for Drektan and Erme to post, but happy to Sally forth without
Seeing the 'scout' come into the tavern, Kunala knew something was up. Moving from the corner he was in towards Taddy and Maff, he nods at the halfling gesture. Drawing his sword he moves towards the door, he turns looking at the others and ask, "What are you waiting for? Do you want to live forever?"

Fiona Hallowswift |

The dark-skinned half-elf looks uselessly around the converted tavern as the wounded are pulled in. "I can help bring supplies," she offers to carry and distribute medical supplies to the ones doing the actual healing.
Best to help out but not draw too much attention. That way if the fort falls, the enemy won't know my face.

GM minor point of correction, I realized I had my header initiative set as 1 but it is actually 3, I think I was looking at Maff's sheet when I put that 1 in there, It doesn't look like it will affect anything this combat though.
Tacitus urges Maff on out into the courtyard and sees the squad of orcs led by the half ogre, As if orcs werent nasty enough, they bred with ogres! that's too damn tall! he thinks to himself assessing the situation, "Keep that warband funneled in that alley, their numbers will mean very little in the tight space," He shouted to anyone who might be listening,"I'm making a call to see if I can get some help with these flankers!" Amelia sees the captain hurt, and knowing that if he falls, morale will follow, she runs into the back ranks and tries to get to the captain so she can heal some of his wounds.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Fiona Hallowswift |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Fiona withdraws from the makeshift infirmary to follow the others out. She moves 25 feet from the doors to stand near the halfling. She reaches out, touching him, "I'll watch your back if you watch mine."
She casts Resistance on Tacitus.

GM Tribute |

Amelia couldn't find the guard captain, but healed another soldier earlier. He was able to stop one of the orcs at the breach!!
orc removed from map -- there was a time earlier when defenders were in the hospital. Post earlier said all healing aided the defenders when you were in hospital mode. Applying that now. Enough healing and there would only be a drummer and orog.
The orc scouts sprint past the group at full speed while the other orcs advance more cautiously. Orog with his massive reach looks quite intimidating as his battle axe looks quite deadly.
The orc drummer from the forest earlier advances with the orc banner of the Bloody Hand. He points a bone with a human skull on the end he was drumming with. "2000gp not enough for each of you, back inside and ya keep your head."
The orcs seem to draw inspiration from the banner and the song.
orcs double move or run, drummer moved and points his drum stick ominously
Round 2 Party UP in any order

Kunala |
it appears at least blue moved past Kunala prompting an AOO
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 21 for damage: 1d8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 3 = 10
As the orc's rush past him Kunala swings at the first, then realizes the Orog is headed his way. Stepping in front of the larger foe, he plants his feet lifting his blade in a high guard, and smiles. "Where you going big guy?" As he asks, he swings the blade down in a chopping motion but shifts his feet at the last moment turning the trajectory of the blade, trying to chop the Orog in the side, but catches his blade on the fellows armor.

If the orc attacks he will parry and riposte spending one Panache
AOO: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 9 for damage: 1d8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 3 = 10
Wow! both those rolls suck

Tacitus Freeling |

Damn, hopefully those 2 get taken care of by the garrison. Taddy thought as the scouts rushed past him and his Summoning spell completed, causing a Stirge to swoop down from the sky at the Half ogre!
Stirge Touch attack to attach: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
if that touches the ogre then the stirge is "attached" and uses its "blood Drain" at the end of each of its turns. it also has a 10 % chance to exposing the target to a disease like "filth fever, blinding sickness, or a similar disease".
Diseased Chance 10 is success: 1d10 ⇒ 5
Ogre is not exposed to disease, but is at -1 con for the blood drain.
Attach (Ex) When a stirge hits with a touch attack, its barbed legs latch onto the target, anchoring it in place. An attached stirge is effectively grappling its prey. The stirge loses its Dexterity bonus to AC and has an AC of 12, but holds on with great tenacity and inserts its proboscis into the grappled target’s flesh. A stirge has a +8 racial bonus to maintain its grapple on a foe once it is attached. An attached stirge can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself—if its prey manages to win a grapple check or Escape Artist check against it, the stirge is removed.
Blood Drain (Ex) A stirge drains blood at the end of its turn if it is attached to a foe, inflicting 1 point of Constitution damage. Once a stirge has dealt 4 points of Constitution damage, it detaches and flies off to digest the meal. If its victim dies before the stirge’s appetite has been sated, the stirge detaches and seeks a new target.
Now that the stirge had arrived Taddy was ready to assist in the bottleneck, he roared "DEADEYE!!!!!" and the orange streaks appeared in his beard once more as he let a bullet fly against the orc between Kunala and the Cat,
Blessed, Inspired, Tiger focused, PBS, Slingstaff vs Blue bordered Orc AC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 101d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
But whatever has been affecting Taddy's aim since the journey started is still plagueing him so he reloads his sling and urges Maff to Charge the same Orc and attack!
Maff Chargeing blessed inspired Bite vs Blue bordered Orc: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 151d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Completed casting of Summon natures ally 1, stirged attached and blood drained the half orc/ogre (or at least hopefully an 18 beats it's touch ac haha).
Tacitus used his swift action to turn on tiger animal focus on himself, standard to whiff another attack, and move to reload.
Maff charged the blue bordered orc and might have actually bit him!

Fiona Hallowswift |

As the orange and green orcs close the gap, Fiona backs into the tower's exterior wall. (Move 25) The door handle presses into her backside and she realizes she can't retreat any farther.
The half-elf raises her hands and begins to chant at the largest orc, who appears to be leading the attack.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 The max damage streak has ended! :(

Amelia Coin |

@Da GM: Oh, well is it too late to cast a couple more of those?

GM Tribute |

Erme invokes a judgement of destruction, and charges the orc (blue) injured by the swordsman. Plumbum chases after one of the running orcs and viciously strikes with two hooves wounding him.
charge Erme: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 111d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
charge horse: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 202d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11

GM Tribute |

The halfling sling goes wide, but his mount wounds an orc that the swordsman hit prior to Maff's attack. The orc is staggered, but holding it together as all ferocious Bloody Hand orcs have been. Erme attempts to finish him off but fails. Plumbum is trying to chase down the runners, and strikes with both hooves cracking ribs in one of them.
The Orog takes a force bolt shot and then a stirge starts to drain his blood. The orog tears at stirge attached to him with his claws.
The orog destroyed the stirge on his head with one swing of his axe, but luckily it wasn't aimed at any of you. Two orcs use flanking, and the swordsman dodges a falchion, but the former slave does not. The riposte is wide from the swordsman. The drummer point his drumstick at the swordsman and an ear piercing scream erupts from him.
DC15 Fort save or dazed and take full damage
sonic damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Drektan: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
The stirge and the catperson take some brutal damage.
Plumbum AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Plumbum staggers one of the orcs running to the gate fight.
Party up

Tacitus Freeling |

seeing the stirge so easily ripped apart dismayed Taddy, but he was glad it had served its purpose and none of his new friends had taken that blow, He saw that the drummer was harrassing the Cat and took aim and loosed a sling bullet at him this time,
blessed, inspired, tiger focus vs Drummer AC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 141d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
and then reloads while Maff stepped up to finish the orc with Kunala,
Blessed, inspired, Bull focus bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Blessed, inspired, Bull focus Claw 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Blessed, inspired, Bull focus Claw 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
savaging him with tooth and claw as best he can.
"ATTA BOY MAFF, TEAR HIS TOES OFF!!! KUNALA, MR. CAT, WATCH OUT FOR THAT AXE!!"
Tacitus takes a standard action to fire on the drummer, and a move to reload his sling. Maff takes a 5 ft step to the east before full attacking the blue orc, not sure if it would count as flanking with Kunala, but if it does add +2 to his attack rolls.
