Teja seeing Marigold go down gives the red nightmare a final irritated stab.

And then moves up next to Marigold to try and help her.

If I am affected by the inspired defence, then the extra point of AC may have protected me from that last attack, or at least reduced the damage slightly.

I better check my math on this.

Marigold's normal AC is 23. Flatfooted is 21. Nimble Dodge adds 2 to that bringing up to 23. She Raised Shield although I don't see a reference to a Shield on the character sheet so I'm assuming it's a Dusty Red Aeon stone in the Wayfinder for an extra +1. Inspire Defense adds another +1 for a total of 25. The Nightmare hit 26. Is there anything I am missing?

This is so close that I want to get it right

Blocking and dodging the crit - yeah ... that works

With Marigold's AC boosted to 25, using Nimble Dodge on the first hit, that first hit is no longer a crit. But both still hit. Still, Marigold manages to save herself from what began to look like certain death. Desna must be with her today.

Jayma sighs when she sees Marigold take another hit that undoes all the healing she'd just doled out. She's happy to see Drak patch her up and checks to see if anyone else need healing. She notices that Nina and Teja are a little more beat up than the others.

Jayma is not used to being the healer; she's used to blasting away at the enemy and being healed by others. She still has one level 3 slot good for about 30 hp of damage (if it hits) and three level 2 slots good for about 20 hp each. So let me know if you'd rather she blast than heal.

Deciding that keeping Teja in the fight was more important (Nina being able to take care of herself), she again concentrates and manipulates the isle's nature to send healing energy the rogue's way before ducking down behind the pyramid to stay out of sight of the nightmares.

With her ability to lucid dream now gone, Jayma hopes that someone else can help Marigold before she finally succumbs to the nightmare's attacks. Instead, she returns her focus to the enemy. Another crack of the staff on the ground; another concentrated ball of electricity forms in her palm; another flick of the wrist to send it flying at the remaining nightmare. Uh, oh. I just noticed the Red - a harmless reforming mist on the initiative list. That can't be good.

Jayma's out of Level 3 slots and is now down to generating about 20hp of damage per round, assuming she hits, which she's been pretty good about doing so far.

Nina's Spiritual Weapon causes Green to dissipate. Since Green is gone and Red is still not a threat this round. Sarina is able to complete her intrusion. All remaining nightmares and hazards dissipate.

Sarnia holds a web of thoughts in her hands. You’ve proven your worth. Now, let’s see what spoils we’ve claimed. She tugs a strand. I see a ship. And a storm. Vast treasures in the shadows. Puppets… so many puppets… they’re us.

The web dissolves. Sarnia grimaces as a cackle erupts from the storm clouds. CRACK. Puppets on strings descend from the sky. CRACK. A fetchling puppet and broken wayfinder dance jerkily on the strings. CRACK. The fetchling strikes the wayfinder. But the cracking sound comes from something else—a massive, gaunt, midnight-black clawed hand descends from the clouds, knuckles cracking as it pulls the puppet strings. CRACK. The wayfinder shatters. Another cackle. The hand grasps the fetchling puppet and grinds it to dust.

Sarnia gasps. My son, I sensed her in my son’s mind. Marcien is afraid—panicked—and he’s moved to secure our treasures. But she knows where. It’s Aslynn the night hag! It’s a trick to empty the Onyx Repository! Vast wealth and power is stored there. Please, help me warn Mar—

A quiet cackle echoes as Sarnia’s projection shatters. Palpable terror freezes limbs and thought. A crone’s voice pierces the air. What a regrettable development. Pathfinders stealing from Aslynn. Your predecessors were more willing to do business. To make bargains.

Ah, well. We’ve dwelled too much on the past. It’s time to look to the future. I, too, have changed. I can’t wait for you to see the boundless nightmares I’m brewing for you after the Onyx Alliance’s treasures are mine! Now, Get Out.

Aslynn’s hands rip and tear at the landscape. The Dustbound Isle collapses into darkness and you wake in the Grand Lodge. Sarnia and Captain Zendrani are nowhere to be seen. You also find Sarina's Alluring Scarf nearby.

Jayma shakes her head to clear the cobwebs and bring her back to reality. Seeing the scarf, she picks it up (and identifies it). "Ooh! How pretty. I wouldn't mind having one of these." She then looks about. "Where are the general and the faction leaders? We need to report back to them immediately."

Marigold runs to the entryway, and pokes her head outside the room.

”HELLO!? ANYBODY HERE!?”

Marigold nearly gets bowled over by the rush of faction heads and venture captains heading into the room. Toldrar, Valais, and Urwal help the Pathfinders to their feet as you wake. After you give your report, Toldrar seems concerned. Aslynn is an old enemy of the Society. If she intends to make her move against the Onyx Alliance soon, and if she’s truly about to acquire significant power, the Society needs to send agents to Shadow Absalom right away!

The Year of Shattered Sanctuaries metaplot concludes in Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-19: Mean Streets of Shadow Absalom.

Valais and Urwal inquire about the Pathfinders’ other findings. Urwal eagerly questions you about the isle’s nature and the monoliths. Valais expresses her delight since you rescued Captain Zendrani. Both faction leaders are impressed since you purified all of the monoliths.

You succeeded in your Primary and Secondary objectives as well as earning 2 Reputation with both the Radiant Oath and Verdant Wheel factions.

I shall report this now and hopefully have your Chronicles out later on today. Downtime activity rolls please.

Teja returns to her quarters and starts to write up what she can remember about the dream-plane. "Surely this is of interest and value.."

academic lore: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19 fail by one I think

But she gets a terse reply about spelling errors from the editor. The article is relegated to a second tier jouirnal.

Pull the covers tight!
Better watch your rump!”
