"So Bot Buddy, how do we play this yahtzee games?"
Yahtzee!: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 2, 6) = 18
Full house on one roll, so not badly.

slight delay in updates tomorrow. It's a holiday here and I'm going fishing :)

![]() |

Just a combat drone who is bored because its mechanic is 12th level and doesn't get out much any more. Enjoy the fishing!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

That's actually considered small. It's about 1kg (2.2 lbs). The typical size is about 1.5-2kg... I think because of the holidays, the big ones went out of town and left the kids behind! :)

That sounds relaxing, but I know what the house would be like when I got back...

![]() |

Unless it pulled it out, the Red Dragon still has a Beacon arrow in its butt, GM.

![]() |

The "concealed" condition is a reaction while the thing is in dim light. So the sparkler in it's butt isn't really affecting anything at this point... it's still in the bright side of the room :)

![]() |

I'll set up the next encounter shortly. Because of the holiday, I'm behind in my games so please bear with me... That said, it should be easier than this one... :)

![]() |

GM, should anyone flub their social roll, Zendel has the Dandy skill feat Distracting Flattery that he can use as a reaction to try and fix matters.

![]() |

Unless there's a particular way you'd like to approach the corridor at the end, I'm just going to move everyone down there until you run into something... Otherwise, the final map is up...

Gameplay (20 new) ×
Should I not have slept last night?

![]() |

Nothing exploded, it is fine. :)
Also, KaLang used a Hero Point.

Ha! Bret and I came home really late from a game with out-of-town friends, and we were so wired, we didn't roll into bed until 1:3o am. So we wound up posting at the same time as the GM for once!

![]() |

So I think that I should be able to use my cantrips such as Gouging Claw with my Arcane Fists and still do non-lethal damage.
Having just checked, I will not get the 2 Temp HP since my speciality requires that I be holding a weapon to get that.

I was wondering about that. I was going to reply with "Don't you ever sleep?!"

![]() |

I'm usually asleep when you post your Gameplay updates. That was a full three hours past my normal bedtime.

![]() |

That was a full three hours past my normal bedtime. I shan't make a habit of it, I promise!

![]() |

I’m confused.
I specifically asked about if we needed to take these alive, and was told if at all possible. That is why I went in with fists rather than the weapons that many of my class abilities are set up for.
Lower to hit, much lower damage, no Temp HP from stance, can’t use my focus spell. Lots of things make this a much more difficult battle than if we were to use lethal force.
I read the spoiler in gameplay, evidently it is alright to use lethal force. So why did Toldrar tell us to use non-lethal force?

![]() |

Well, if you can get them to surrender, it would be better. If not, lethal force is ok. Toldrar did not specifically say "use non-lethal". When you asked him "do you want them alive". The answer was "if possible. If not, then do what you need to do".
On the combat tracker I left the Shaken/Surrendered lines up, indicating that these will get 'shaken' and can be convinced to give up.

![]() |

Right, should have gone in with my halberd.
I read it as “Well, if at all possible. But if they won't come quietly, you may use whatever means necessary to end the threat."
Seems I should have read it as “ Well, if at all possible. But if they won't come quietly, you may use whatever means necessary to end the threat."

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking the same as KaLang. I had the emphasis on the wrong syllable, metaphorically speaking.

![]() |

Zendel practices his aim, and struts around with his sword cane, striking dashing poses.

![]() |

lol, Arfsnarf screwed up the line anyway. For lightning bolt, it was supposed to be unlimited power!
Oh well, next spell slot :P

Can we aim deadly attacks at non-shaken foes? I am certain that some of my colleagues would have liked to ask the surrender of Yellow and White.

** spoiler omitted **
There's no restriction on use of lethal force, shaken or non-shaken.
This is the last part where quarter is given, so I'm not entirely sure what to point of asking for surrender is at this point...
Guarded Step is Starfinder, I believe, but I know what you mean... :)

Head's up -- December is generally a nutty month as it's a short month. The Philippines shuts down during the last 2 weeks of the year (on the back of two long weekends) so it starts getting crazy to get everything done...

![]() |

You're up late, aren't you? Are you working the night shift, GM?

![]() |

You're up late, aren't you? Are you working the night shift, GM?
Haha. Nope. I'd gotten back from the gym last night and got my second wind. Since I was updating my games at that time I happened to catch all your updates :)
I'm learning Philippine Martial Arts (aka arnis, kali, escrima). Loads of fun, and it's practical.

![]() |

Cool! I’ve heard of Escrima, but not the others.
Hope you continue to enjoy the martial arts.
Escrima is just one of the names. Here it's commonly referred to as Arnis. I think Escrima and Kali are the more popular names in the US.

Zendel has 1 sleep arrow left, and would like to collect more. I know a bunch of people handed Mindartis special arrows, but may I take half of those, Mindartis? I think you got some from KaLang and ArfSnarf.
Did anyone else pick up special arrows from Toldrar? I'd like to know how many sleep arrows Mindartis and I can have in our inventory.
Oh, never mind. I just realize that sleep arrows have the incapacitation trait, and we are playing up. Which means that the ritual likely has non-mooks fueling it, and these sleep arrows are now practically useless if the ritual's participants are above CR 1.
Boo.
I'll still collect beacon arrows, just in case.

It feels like we have progressed through a lot of this scenario.
Is it time to award a hero point to a player? PbP makes it weird trying to figure that out sometimes, but normally one is awarded for each hour of live play.

![]() |

how do you determine when? some scenarios have points where they remind the GM to award hero points.

![]() |

I usually just do it when I remember... or am reminded. But that is probably not the best strategy. The guidelines say one every hour, so roughly at the quarter-marks of the scenario.

![]() |

Another good way to do this is once every encounter.

![]() |

The scenarios are supposed to take about 4 hours, with you giving out 1 hero point per hour. Look at how close we are to the end, base it on that. I generally give one out before the final boss fight as well.
The other way is a bit more complicated. Figure it using the rate that multi-table specials use of about 10 days per hour realizing they assume 1-2 updates per day from everyone. We have been going slower than a special, so probably closer to every two weeks or so?

![]() |

Hero Points:
1 - KaLang (since he's used both his HP)
I'll let you decide by secret (or not-so-secret) ballot. 2 HP's up for grabs.
post it behind a spoiler (or not, if you prefer) your 2 candidates. The roleplay has been great! :)

![]() |

1. Salaish
2. Zendel
