GM Frost |

Welcome to the game, everyone! A few rules to abide for everyone:
1. Kindly fill up the information needed in Slides and Maps and Macros linked above before we formally start the game. Also, please make sure to at least have the following information on your character's stat block for easy reference: Hit Points (HP), Armor Class (AC), Saving Throws (Fortitude, Reflex, and Will), Perception bonus, and Speed.
2. Post at least once everyday, and once on weekends. As we play the game, I would like to remind everyone that as per the Organized Play Foundation Community Standards and Expectations, it reads:
No Character-versus-Character Combat
In keeping with the “Explore, Report, Cooperate” motto of the Pathfinder Society, engaging in non-consensual character-versus-character conflict is prohibited. While accidental friendly fire happens due to missed attack rolls or other factors, players must obtain the consent of other players before deliberately including fellow PCs in damaging effects [emphasis mine]. Engaging in character-versus-character conflict will award Infamy points and may render a character unplayable. This rule does not apply in situations where a character is not acting of their own free will, such as if they’re being mind-controlled by an NPC and forced to attack a fellow Pathfinder.
3. Enjoy the game. :)

Everything has been filled out

Hello, everyone. This character tends to travel using a costumed alias.

The Carnelian Signet |

This would the alias.

![]() |

Yea, I'm good with friendly fire as long as there are more of them taking the damage than us.

![]() |

I'd rather not be hit by friendly fire as a default answer unless it's unlikely to put me in a dangerous situation with health or dying values

The Carnelian Signet |

Splash damage is fine unless I'm dying.

GM Frost |

Everyone begins with hero point each. Any glyphs you would like to share with are welcome. Just tell who you want to give it to.

The Carnelian Signet |

Shurgha Tak, have an extra Hero Point. I have a GM Glyph.
Is there anyone else who is level 1?

![]() |

Just levelled.

![]() |

GM: Shurgha's 22 diplomacy didn't hit any response? Or because I rolled right after the 20 Engineering?
Carnelian, thanks for the HP!

GM Frost |

Only one skill check is needed from each of you. I used the higher one.

GM Frost |

What will be your Society consumable?

The Carnelian Signet |

I'll stick to the default minor healing potion.

![]() |

Me too.

![]() |

Hancock has the 'Mind Quake Scars' boon which gives mental resistance equal to 1/3 your level. That does not help until he is level 3, right?

GM Frost |

Usually if it has "minimum of 1" in the boon description/text, then you get 1. What is the full text of the boon (in spoiler)?

![]() |

Which begs another question. why buy it twice if it does not increase the resistance. Just so you have another check box to turn a success into a critical success?

GM Frost |

![]() |

As mentioned in Gameplay, I took the scroll of heal and the scroll of mage armor (which I would have used once we arrived at our destination).

GM Frost |

You can only choose one school item. Which one you will choose?

![]() |

I put all three points in Spell School so I get a 2nd item from the list at half-level.
Is this something you declare on your character sheet?

Yeah, you get three points to spend on spells, scrolls, and swords schools. Spending 1 point gives you access to a schools items, 2 gives you the bonus lore option, and 3 lets you get the 2nd item.

GM Frost |

I believe that point system is an old rule. You can read more about your character's Pathfinder training here if it helps: LINK.

![]() |

Ah, I saw that the list of items changed, I didn't realize points were dropped. I'll just take and use the mage armor scroll since I have soothe scrolls already

GM Frost |

I'll take note of that.

![]() |

Will you all be bringing the bodies with you or you'll get back to them after your mission in the ruins?
I can't see dragging the bodies along with us unless use a magical conveyance or someone brought a mount. We could move the bodies back to our camp before we move on, assuming we made camp.
Thoughts?

The Carnelian Signet |

Moving the bodies back to the camp is a fine idea. No way can we carry these things.

Shurgha used a Hero Point to reroll the crafting check and got a 13, meeting the DC.
Also, by "failing" Shurgha loses all chance of rolling?

![]() |

OK. I see now how to do hero Points. In my defense, this is my third PbP, and the first time I've used Hero Points. I see how that post looked like I was making a second roll.
Also, I won't be able to post again till after 9:00 pm (-7 GMT) tonight.

I rechecked the DC for the skill and it is indeed a success. Will fix it later, thank you calling it out. The game only requires a limited number of checks per PC, so it is suggested to use appropriate skills with high modifiers to meet the DC, unless the dice are really bad.

![]() |

I'm pretty new too. How do you do hero point rerolls? I thought you did it fine. You did not like the roll and rerolled. Was it because it was not in the same post?

GM Frost |

For hero point, I use hero point to reroll a critical failure. Or if the result is too low.
As for Shurgha's roll, I considered the re-roll as her first attempt. She still has 1 attempt remaining since the Diplomacy she rolled was meant for Hancock, I just realized.

GM Frost |

Hero Points left, school items and other item(s) obtained
Shurgha -1, minor healing potion
Signet - 0, minor healing potion, light
Haka - 0, potency crystal, elixir of life
Malik - 0, mage armor scroll
Hancock - 1, minor healing potion, lesser leaper's elixir
Mathilda - 0, minor healing potion, sunrod/wayfinder
Putting this here just for reference.

I used crafting with a +5 modifier. As a first level character, that's a pretty high modifier. Thievery and acrobatics were not on offer, nor were any of the others that were +5, except for the PFS Lore. As a player, I use my Hero Points as I see fit. It's a gamble, I know.

![]() |

I assume that dwarves do not automatically get dwarven lore.

![]() |

They don't but every ancestry has a feat that gives them their ancestry as a lore skill as a level 1 option

![]() |

Figured as much. I took Unburdened Iron.
