Still unwell, however I'm back on the boards. I can't catch up on all the missed posts as there are are far too many (60+) and I just don't have the energy levels or time. I have read the last day or two, though. Thanks for your patience. Hopefully I will be 100% in the near future and back to proper, consistent posting. Thanks for the botting GM and for everyone's patience.

Glad you're doing a little better, hopefully soon a lot better!

BTW, regarding Abon and ladders, you might need to visit a leather worker in town and have them craft a custom harness that would let you bring him up or down with ropes. Some spells out there would help (any that add climb or fly movement speeds, reduce size, or even just plain levitate).

There is one slightly confusing true multi-level site in this adventure, and it's closer to the end of everything when spell access will help. Most places where a short-legged critter might have issues can be hand-waved by me if it isn't going to impact things much. I would have said not to worry about it in this place, except I kind of liked the RP part and thought it might be safer in this particular spot.

I don't need Cordia botted DM as I mentioned I'm back on the boards. Thanks!

As soon as Bumolin can cast second lvl spells "carry companion" should do the trick. But at least for now I think the way things developed actually fits the theme of their companionship better: they are no fighting team (yet). For this reason I chose "stay" as Abons first trick instead of "attack". And therefore it felt logical that Bumolin would actually prefer to leave Abon in a safe place when he is exploring a potentially dangerous place: he has no experience handling the boar in dangerous situations and therefore no idea how he would act in a fight.

Bottom line: the grumbling is only in character. As a player I'm absolutely fine with how we did it.

Sorry, everyone. I took a nasty spill on the weekend and busted up my face and both thumbs on top of my other ailments. The meds for pain and my cough make me drowsy/sleepy, so I've not been in the right mind to post on the boards. I'll try to post when I'm lucid enough.

DM Dickie, Cordia hadn't stepped foot inside the the chamber (she was standing outside the door she had just opened). How did she trigger the pit trap? Thorfinn was the only person to step inside the room and Roxy didn't touch the lever as Cordia said not to. I'm a little confused.

The trap was in between the two locked doors, not in the new room. Cordia needed to be adjacent to the second door to unlock it.

For the record, if it's a "DM Rolls" spoiler the purpose is just to keep the post from being filled with dice spam. It's okay to read those at any time. You might catch an error i made, so its actually encouraged. If it's something more like "Don't worry about it" or "DM stuff" then don't read them right away to avoid actual potential spoilers. It's also fine with me on rereading after the fact to check under language related spoilers if you want for full context. Spoilers for other players should be avoided unless that player gives permission to read them.

My cat’s seriously injured and can’t walk on his own. I’m his nurse (carrying, lifting, medicating him) until his surgery next week. I won’t be back on the boards until next week. Sorry about all this personal upheaval. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Anyone else not getting recent results when running a search in the campaign threads? Not sure what's up, but i'm not getting any more recent results than the end of last year???

I was trying to see if there was mention of any keys earlier in the dungeon. I think I recall mention of one.

I think search is broken, it couldn't find the word 'the' in the gameplay thread here for me.

However I can tell you my notes say no keys found. Perhaps you're thinking of the winding key for the metal guy you were able to bypass?

Male Human UBarbarian 2| AC 16 T 12 FF 14 | HP 15/27 | F +6 R +2 W +1 | Init +4| Perc +7|SM +1

I think javelins are thrown weapons and not ammunition, so they're reusable. At least, I infer that from the language used to describe how shuriken are handled.

Yeah, that was it. I got an image of a floating key in my head and can't get rid of it :P

True, just call it flavor text lol! You missed it's FF by one, so I wanted the dramatic moment.

M Half-elf Cleric (Devout Pilgrim) of Erastil 2, AC:16, 0/4 channels used

Yes, I think it was for intuition. I made it and there was a note that the keys were probably behind us as mean bird said that it went back to check on them.

Hello, all. I posted this in another game, also hosted by DM Dickie. With all the recent personal upheaval and bad luck in my RL, my free time, health and energy levels are at an all time low. I don't wish to take up a spot with a character I'm unable to play as I wish to, and, I have no idea when I can back to the boards with any sort of regularity. Regrettably, I am withdrawing from the game (this is a game that seems to run faster and have more postings than my other slower games and I just won't be able to catch up and continue with much success). Once again, DM Dickie you've been a great DM and understanding and patient to boot! It's been a pleasure and I've enjoyed everyone's characters in game.

I wish you all the best and much success.

Kind Regards,
Cordia.

I mentioned this in another game she's stepping away from, but I do generally have an open door policy with players in good standing. So if at any time things calm down and you decide you want to rejoin, I'll find a waybto bring Cordia (or anyone else who has to step away) back.

We should probably be okay with four, I do worry slightly about losing trapfinding/disarming, but this isn't a super trap heavy AP despite the pit folks ran into recently. So I'll leave it up to y'all whether we should recruit another or not. Four is a good number (with the sorc still in the wind), but if folks are concerned I will find someone or take recommendations if people have a referral player.

M Half-elf Cleric (Devout Pilgrim) of Erastil 2, AC:16, 0/4 channels used

Sorry to see you go, Cordia. Sometimes RL is a bit much. Hope things settle down and thanks for letting us know.

As for party composition, with two priest types and a bard, it feels like a lot of support characters. It might not be a bad idea to have another fighter type or a magic user.

Male Human UBarbarian 2| AC 16 T 12 FF 14 | HP 15/27 | F +6 R +2 W +1 | Init +4| Perc +7|SM +1

The bard's an arcane duelist, IIRC, so some combat capability. A full arcane caster would be good.

M Half-elf Cleric (Devout Pilgrim) of Erastil 2, AC:16, 0/4 channels used

Ah, nice. Missed that that's the bard version of a magus.

My life has gotten very busy with my new job, and I don't currently have time to dedicate to PbP. I'm dropping out. Sorry.

M Half-elf Cleric (Devout Pilgrim) of Erastil 2, AC:16, 0/4 channels used

Say it isn't so, Burps. I was looking forward to getting to know this character. Well, best of luck with the new job and thanks for letting us know.

That's a shame, we might need to pick someone up after all. Losing both of the more skilled/rogue types hurts a bit. Let's continue on for now...

BTW, as said before, I have an open door policy...

Male Human UBarbarian 2| AC 16 T 12 FF 14 | HP 15/27 | F +6 R +2 W +1 | Init +4| Perc +7|SM +1

I'll ask around in my games if there's anyone interested in joining up.

A quick heads up: I will be opening recruitment up to try and grab two more soon. The only reason I haven't yet is because A) you're very nearly done with this particular section and,
B) I'm also running a replacement recruitment for another game that got too low and don't want to confuse myself.

Either way, combat update sometime after I wake up later, long night at work!

BTW, when I first played this, before running/reading it myself, I was playing a human barbarian (very much like Thorfinn). She very nearly died to this kobold archer. Make no mistake, this is a boss fight. It can be easy to underestimate kobolds.

Current experience: 2125

Level 2! Yay! So make sure you do that during this recruitment period as well!

Last little update: I've done a lot of book keeping and updated the Campaign Info tab. Within a few minutes I will have the map page moved back to the town of Belhaim itself.

M Half-elf Cleric (Devout Pilgrim) of Erastil 2, AC:16, 0/4 channels used

Huzzah! And I want to express my appreciation of you taking over this campaign, DM Dickie. I am very much enjoying it.

Indeed. It's so great to have this in your competent hands. I'm enjoying this very much.
And since I'm already here:
Hit die lvl2: 1d8 ⇒ 8

TY. It really is just a great classic fantasy tale, I love running it. Plus, it's fun to see how different groups react to things.

As ayers start to post submissions in recruitment, I would encourage you three to check them out and provide feedback. I am looking for adherence to original build rules and theme, us utility. I want you to sound off on who might just be a good fit for the group personality wise.

We might also go back up to 6 (which just means adding more bad guys and maxing more HPs than just big bosses) because someone PMed me about this game and I owe them a finish of this adventure, lol.

Male Human UBarbarian 2| AC 16 T 12 FF 14 | HP 15/27 | F +6 R +2 W +1 | Init +4| Perc +7|SM +1

L2 HP: 1d12 ⇒ 3

I believe the original recruitment thread had HP as roll them, and if you roll less than average take average instead. Is that what you'll use, DM D?

Yeah, the longer we go the more sure GMM will not be back, but still sticking to the original intent as closely as possible. There may be enough time also for Retraining (until the end!)

So we have some folks in recruit and they all have a lot to add. I haven't picked through the characters themselves beyond glancing at stats, so feedback from everyone is for sure welcome.

That said, I'm taking Aleksara because I kind of "owe" the player for two bailed on campaigns a few years ago when things and me both went crazy, lol. Fortunately, the character fits in pretty well (she was used in one of the two failed games).

I'm willing to bring it back up to 6 as the original DM intended, five just is a little easier to scale combats without them being bogged down, but 6 works and gives us room if someone drops. So let me know if you have an opinion on 5 vs 6 as well as if anyone stands out personality/character wise.

I can hand wave going to the House of Abadar if it's just a simple case of, "Hey, sanctify these guys so they don't come looking for brains!" However, I would note that the temple does have magic items available...I will update the town stat block tonight or tomorrow with that info. Most items are out of your current price range, but these items stay available.

M Half-elf Cleric (Devout Pilgrim) of Erastil 2, AC:16, 0/4 channels used

Yes. Was just planning a quick pass for dead body storage. We can have a more formal visit to the temples tomorrow.

I've cleaned jp the Game Info page a little. I'm gp8ng to add town locations mentioned because it's fun andaybe you want to try and go everywhere eventually gor the silly video-game-achievement-like side quests, lol.

On that note do know there are some juicy rumors in town. When you win over folks with Diplomacy checks, they sometimes give up some good gossip. Some gossip unlocks side quests.

DM Dickie, is it ok to have pre-crafted a few utility scrolls to have on hand? Also I want to let you know that I may not be able to post this weekend (AEST) as I'm going back to my parents for a big birthday celebration.

Male Human UBarbarian 2| AC 16 T 12 FF 14 | HP 15/27 | F +6 R +2 W +1 | Init +4| Perc +7|SM +1

Welcome to the new players! Vanaira, I can't think of many low-level spells that would be particularly useful to Thorfinn...magic weapon, maybe.
