Thanks everyone! Looks like I'm last to jump on. Hello everyone. GM Dickie and I go back a ways, and I really do appreciate giving me a another chance to finish this game.
DM Dickie |
BTW Ritti, I believe you're missing the "campaign trait". It was free but finding the link while I'm getting ready for work is a bit of a chore lol. See the very original recruitment thread from way back with the original GM if I can't get you one when you get online.
If anyone needs to work through why exactly their character came to town just let me know. For now I'm going to open it up for you three to enter the Inn where thebothers are right now so you can give yourselves a good introductory first impression.

Loot Tally so far:
2 mithral daggers
18,500 copper, (185gp)
4,000 silver, (400 gp)
116 gold,
14 platinum pieces (140gp)
teak case containing 30 gems (800gp)
Did i miss a couple things? I seem to recall another key and a plaque.
Thorfinn Feigrsson |
There was the big heavy plaque, and I don't know whether the metal man parts were worth anything.
DM D, Thorfinn is looking for the semiprecious gem amber, fossilized tree resin.
DM Dickie |
There isn't really a jeweler, it's one of the few shops not specifically detailed in town. We did assume a new caravan came to town, so I'm betting whatever jewelry, beads, and assorted decorative items the town imports will be briefly available somewhere, but going fast.
The plaque is a historical piece worth 100gp if you can find a suitable buyer.
The metal guy...is an interesting question. Delbin would offer top dollar for the entire thing, including the key, intact. Considerably less for the parts if destroyed. Whether you'd want to mount an expedition to try and recover it whole or in pieces isbup to you all!

If anyone happens to be interested in a Starfinder game I'm starting one via VTT on Sunday nights. Check out my Sunday Starfinder Against the Aeon Throne
It's a half-AP, by which I mean just three books, so not a huge commitment. Starships, ancient empires, guerrillas, a Babylon 5-like black market space station, and the kind of bad guys you just can't feel bad about shooting!

Ah man I would really be tempted. But it starts 6 hours before I have to get up and go to work on monday. Probably not a good idea.
But if you ever do a starfinder pbp or other sci fi system let me know. I'm also still very much sold on the idea of playing starfrontiers. Preferably pbp - scheduling regular hobby stuff is near Impossible in my life atm.Vanaira Makanya |
I missed the campaign traits as well, took Local Connections, was thinking perhaps Hunclay had consulted with one of Vanaira's teachers at some point and so she'd decided to stop by and visit.
The rest of my stats are now finalised, I’ve paid to add some more spells to my spellbook (I can meet the Spellcraft DC by taking 10) and to pre-craft a few scrolls. Plus Level 2 HP: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Starfinder game sounds cool, but unfortunately it's not at a good time for me.

Vanaria knows the mentor who told her about the human wizard Hunclay told her that he was, "brilliant, but deeply troubled and angry. Very erudite, and an avid collector of books."
Aleksara |
I hate to state the wolf in the room, but Aleksara has not been invited to see the baroness yet. (And I guess does not have to be either.)
Its not her way to be pushy about such things, but her obvious knowledge on kobolds could be useful later.
Xylas Foundling |
I guess that I should have explained better. I had a GM that would allow us to do several rooms simultaneously by posting a header for each room if it wasn't anything too important. I intended to continue the breakfast discussion while pushing ahead with the baroness discussion.
It's a handy trick when I let you all know what I'm doing : )

That's actually what I thought was supposed to happen when DM Dickie put the audience scene in the spoiler.

Thorfinn wasn't about to invite a hungover stranger along to meet with the local nobility (that's the sort of thing that gets you into the wrong kind of songs, IYKWIM), but he would have remembered her expertise for later.
Ritti 'Red' Rallo |
Heads up, guys. I will be moving across the country, from Sunday 2-Oct through approximately 6-Oct. I should have internet each night to catch up with the game and post as needed. But that’s a variable I can’t control. On or slightly after the 6th, I will be back to my usual posting rate.
Thanks!

This was my basic thought as well.
I understand the dual time stamps, although I'm a fan of more linear gaming. I just didn't know how to RP 'jumping in' without forcing it a bit much is all. The meeting with the Baroness needs to happen, it just doesn't have to include Aleksara is what I was thinking.
Since the invite came up (thanks Xylas) I will jump in here...
Xylas Foundling |
So with the reward and liquid assets (I'm not counting the 4000 silver and nearly 20,000 copper pieces bc that would take a work crew to bring up), we've got 1,656 gp, two mithril daggers, and a 100gp plaque. That's 552 gp apiece for the original three. I think the newcomers got extra starting gold so I don't feel the need to share : )
Seeing that it's a wand of cure Moderate wounds at Abadar's temple, I don't think we can afford anything there. Is that a +7 crossbow?
Aleksara |
If you show off the daggers, then Aleksara would be interested in purchasing one. Maybe against the money she will make in the future? Interesting blades are a thing for her. I know I don't have the cash currently: Mithril is automatically MW and expensive!
DM Dickie |
Yeah, I had basically intended it that way, the starting wealth accounts for the loot acquired by the original three, basically.
I'm looking at being ready for the ranchers as well as the smithy, just waiting a bit to see if the wizard or the rogue want to join either or find their own trouble, hehe. The town is mostly safe, but who knows ows where that bird got off to? Plus, you could always make some enemies in town!
Bumolin Bitterkelch |
By the way: I wouldn't mind in game and out of game, if you left Bumolin out of the shared loot. It wouldn't really fit the persona to collect treasures apart from maybe something magical he has a spiritual connection to.
Mechanically druids are also comparatively independent from finding better equipment. At least during the lower lvls.
Bumolin Bitterkelch |
A humble question - and I could absolutely live with a "no"- would it be ok if I reworked Bumolin into a Boar-Shaman? I would have gone this way right from the start, but DM Minotaur restricted us to core-classes only. But I doubt he will ever take over again. It's also rather a nerf in terms of efficiency. But it would fit the character-concept and at lower lvls it would give me something to do when spells run out.
DM Dickie |
Classes:
Any Core Paizo, (including Unchained versions), Only 1 Archetype allowed per character. No
Archetypes were allowed. Easy to overlook with all the info in the original post. It is still early and low level enough, plus as you say, it fits entirely, so I'll allow the free retrain.
Anyone else miss that or something else in the original they'd like to try and convince me a free retrain is okay lol? Once you go actually do something potentially dangerous you'll be locked in and retrain will follow normal time/cost rules.
Bumolin Bitterkelch |
Alright. That somehow got "chanceled" in my brain by "core-only". Which is nonsensical because there are no archetypes in the core rules.
Thank you, I get to it then!
And one rules question coming with it: the rules often allude to "boars and other porcine creature" e.g. with Summon Nature's Ally - I don't know what other creatures than boars could be meant in the summoning list.
Bumolin Bitterkelch |

I see - so a paper pig-mask could be massively usefull. If an enemy is too strong, Thorfinn just holds him tight, we put the mask on his face and Bumolin uses wild empathy until he likes us.
DM Dickie |
I actually checked the sulidae animals thinking surely something else would fit the category, but to no avail. It looks like just boar, dire boar, and celestial boar best I can tell. Variant species could be a fun thing (like slightly different stats) if you wanted to dig really deep, but it would also be work for both of us, lol.
Aleksara |
No problem, I'll just stick to those three.
You could still cast Summon Minor Ally and get 1d3 Guinea Pigs too!
So cute! And they had a nasty bite...
Bumolin Bitterkelch |
Yes I can do that, I can also summon any other creature like a normal druid. But when I summon boars, I can use summon natures ally as a standard action and I can add templates.
But summon minor ally is a different spell, So sadly no advanced giant guinea pigs for me.
Thanks DM, I think we are through the worst of it.
DM Dickie |
That's okay. Red and Bumolin are doing some heavy bonding, but I am curious to see Thorfinn's reaction to Xylas volunteering him to spar with Marcus Chance.
You may have caught me accidentally calling Marcus "Baccus".
Because I got myself totally confused! I need to retcon something which may make a HUGE difference to Aleksara (and everyone) There is another metal smith in town. I always get the two confused, which is crazy because Chance is described as an unfriendly bully while Baccus is a friendly NPC who is even tempered. Talk about an error, I don't think I noticed any time I've previously run this! Lol, we will chalk it up to Talia being distracted (and me working a night job that exhausts me!).
Totally cool with me how you want to integrate this major blunder on my part into the current narrative.
Xylas Foundling |
I wouldn't call it a major blunder since we don't know any better. Xylas was actually thinking that they might need to bring another blacksmith into town bc this guy is really asking for a thrashing and there would go our weapons hookup
