I am okay with that theoretically, although more than one person might want first pick, and since everyone knows you are going for gun combat, more than one person might want that.

Not sure how the DM does it, but I vote we roll initiative, personally. Seems more fair. I am not going for just one specific thing, but I would like to avoid things I already have.

If first person only gets the one pick though, I don't want to be first... rather give up gun combat and have a chance at two. :)

and my vote would be for talking it out, because if 3 more people feel the way you do, we're all set ;) the 4 of you can randomize a pick order

No idea about picking a skill package but definitely would like to roll to determine picking order. If it comes to it, I've got no issue picking less skills that others, I feel like I rolled well during creation, but also have never played so maybe I didn't.

Does anyone have a desired skill, like Erryll?
What skill(s) are we lacking (as a group) and is there a package that has that as an option?

Charles already has gun combat, so doesn't look like he would be an obstacle to your plan either Erryll... so, as long as we choose a package that has gun combat in it, you can go first, and the rest of us will roll.

As for Charles's plan to compare skills to see what we need, here are mine:

However, the only thing that I wanted that I didn't get was Vacc Suit... I hope I don't die because of that in a space emergency someday. In any case though, that isn't an option in any of the packages, so doesn't matter.

If we're focused on weapon skills though, we could go with Erryl's choice: the mercenary skills package. Charles says he doesn't need two skills either, so we have two volunteers for the 1-skill slots on an 8-option package as well.

Benjamin... you haven't voted. What do you think?

I am not partial to any package. So the Investigator works. I think the suggested way of picking works as well. Do we want to roll off to determine order? I think more skills are better then less.

Also, Am I supposed to have more sub-skills? I only saw Melee (blade) explicitly list it. (Edit. Read more in the CRB, I'll get subskills setup soon)

(Edit) Is combat not usually fruitful for this system? (reminds me of VtM)

Mine are Erryll (Melee: Blade) and Dev (Persuade).


With an odd number of people you're going to wind up with someone left out. Anyone who doesn't have two connections can make a connection now.
Try to make connections with someone who doesn't have two. But if you're the odd man out, make a connection and the other person simply get the role-playing aspect, but no new skill for the connection.

If you ever run a Traveller game, you'll find out how instantly ruinous to the story are simple powers like telepathy. No Traveller game I've ever played has survived the introduction of plasma weapons, combat armor or psionics!

Makes sense. They seem to be pretty potent but have some drawbacks. (cooldown and such, along with the illegality of it)

I'd like to take my Tarondor Bonus now to bump Leadership > 2
