[ACO] Beginner Box - Lower Level (P2) (Inactive)

Hello! Welcome to my table. Before we start, please do the following:

As per the Organized Play Foundation Community Standards, each player must decide if they will allow their characters to be damaged by friendly fire (usually via splash damage). I need to remind everyone that damaging a PC who doesn't give consent will generate infamy.

We can play the Lower Level as well, but it cannot be reported as part of Outpost as we probably won't finish the Upper Level in time.

I a fine with splash damage, as that's part of the fun.

Is this character that I have played once in pfs 2e eligible for this adventure or does it need to be a brand new one?

By not being reported, you mean that we would not get the xp, fame, or anything for running the lower level, but we would for the upper level?

Beginner Box characters are not PFS2e eligible as they are created using a slightly different rule set.

The Beginner Box is Adventure mode, essentially. The character in the chronicles is the character who gets the XP and Treasure Bundles at the end.

If we play the lower level, it will be reported for credit. You just won't get the additional AcP for Outpost.

I would like to play as Ezren. And no splash damage for me.

I'm happy to play cleric or rogue, but I might make one with the beginner box.

I'll play the pregen cleric since I have a PBP character already set up for her. I'm good with splash damage on me.

I changed some of Ezren's spells and cantrips with those found in the BB, I list them in my header for easy spotting or something.

Well, it's down to Mr Tea. We can start next week -- it'll move fast once we get started, so I'm not too worried about time.

I'm happy with whatever the group decides. No idea what this lower and upper level thing is anyway.

The Beginner Box is 2 levels, each considered a different scenario.

Though Hancock will need to be replaced with a different character for the Lower Level as the beginner box chronicle can only be assigned to a lvl 1 character.

I would be glad for the opportunity to play both levels.

You all begin with 1 shiny hero point. Those with glyphs can go ahead and share them now. Just to get it out of the way, if you want your downtimes included in your chronicle, go ahead and roll them as well. If you're using the same character to receive the chronicle for the Lower Level (except Hancock), you may roll downtime twice. Just a reminder that the character receiving the chronicle must be a lvl 1 character.

Upper Level, Downtime: Crafting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Lower Level, Downtime: Crafting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

No glyph here. Do I roll Kyra's skill or Hancock's skill for downtime? And what skills qualify? If Hancock and his legal lore skill works, then I will use that.

If Kyra, and Medicine will work, then the roll is at +7 instead of +4.

Don't forget to use your shield block reaction on one of those attacks, probably the first one, unless you figured you would need the AC for the subsequent attacks.

Gm tiger, could we retcon that I did as Kyra suggests? I should have put that reaction in there but I got my actions messed up to begin with. That would have made five less damage to me and none taken from the shield.

Sure. You want to remove the initial 5 damage?

I think that makes the most sense, now that I know.

I've already retconned your damage. It will reflect the next time I update the combat tracker. Also in case you're unaware -- you can edit your post up to 1 hour after posting. After that, it's "permanent" (I imagine the admins at Paizo can remove a post if they have to but it's pretty much permanent to us mere mortals.)

Valeros has the ability to take and attack of opportunity as a reaction so he could have taken a swat at a rat as it ran by him. But I am not sure whether you are able to do both a shield block and an attack of opportunity. How many reactions can a character take in one turn? Could he have done both?

You only get one.

I don't think there's a feat that will allow you more than 1 reaction... but I could be wrong...

The quick shield(?) feat, gives one specifically for raising a shield.

Was that last chomp a critical failure? Can you crit a fail on an iterative attack? I'm always hesitant to take a second or third attack since you crit miss when you miss by 10, right?

Valeros also rolled pretty poorly and that 6 might have been a critical miss.

You don't have any comeback from a critical miss.

That is a relief. Then I can swing away when I want to.

Verified. As noted the character assigned to will be different for the lower level. One question though. Is there anything on the second chronicle sheet that would only be available if the same character got both sheets? If so, then I would want to assign both to my new character.

Apart from the items, which are level based and are the same as those in the full 2e books, the only difference is that the upper level gives access to the Deckhand background.
