Here is your Discussion thread. Take some time to tweak things and when you’re ready you can check in on Gameplay with an introduction of some sort. Feel free to RP things as you go, the game itself will be live for real when your patron first enters. Until then, just have fun getting to know characters.

Hello. I'm a melee inquisitor. I want to be up front and swinging. I've got good perception, knowledge, Sense motive, and intimidate. I'm open to changing feats or skills. I'll be grabbing teamwork feats as I level up.
Also, I've got defiant luck, DM, so I'll be forcing a reroll on a critical hit against me if one comes up, and I haven't used it yet.

Izabelia Nirodin |

Hello, everyone! :)
Firstly, thank you DM Dickie for giving me the opportunity to play Izabelia in this game. I look forward to interacting with the other players in game.
Izabelia is an ex-noble (House Nirodin) - a predominantly melee bard archaeologist (with back up ranged ability via her shortbow). I will be giving her two-weapon fighting. She has roguish skills with finding traps and disabling them - this will improve with Clever Explorer (on level 2) and Trap Sense (on level 3). She's very much into History and Underground exploration, has face skills and some healing (via arcane magic). With Bardic Knowledge she has all the knowledges (trained and untrained), which I can invest skill points as she levels. I, too, am open, to adjusting skills so we can have a better cross section represented.
===
Our group is made up of a psychic, bard (archaeologist), inquisitor, illusionist, shaman (namekeeper) and ranger (dungeon rover, infiltrator).

Polly Glottimixx |

Greetings and salutations to my fellow players and mighty thank you to Dickie for selecting me for their game!
As for Polly herself she's an illusionist focused on debluffing enemies as much as possible to make it all the easier for everyone else to beat them up! When it comes to skills, she's a pretty good librarian as a wizard, though she doesn't currently have religion or planes, and knows pretty much every language that I would think would be relevant for our game.
Her personality in brief is that a plucky yet determined linguist who sees the Heidmarch mission as a great way to prove herself to the Pathfinder Society and maybe even as a means of getting greater opportunities to do field work.

Hi all,
I'm excited to do this with you all! Eskander is going to be the most challenging character for me to write, and I'm looking forward to the complexity. Eskander is a psychic, who thinks he's just a terrible wizard; at this point, he doesn't have conscious control over his psychic powers, sometimes things just happen. He's a scholar also Polly, with Arcana and History specialties, and will branch out into others as the game progresses. Sounds like we'll be working in collaboration a lot, since we have similar languages and skills.

Zadira |

Thanks for the pick, DM. :)
Looking forward to this. :) Will have to save introductions till after work, but wanted to pop in and say Hi. :)

We may have an issue with healing, being we have no dedicated healer in the party.
Mallory, our inquisitor, is the only one with the trained heal skill which is good. Izabelia has CLW, however she only has two 1st level spell slots/day and that isn't enough to go around the party. (Heal isn't a class skill for Bards.) Mallory, would you consider picking up the CLW spell and dropping wrath (and picking the latter spell at next level instead)?
Saria, as a shaman, has access to healing spells (I had a cursory look at her character sheet and she hasn't listed any 1st level spells at present). Hopefully, she too can prepare a CLW spell (via daily communion with the spirits).
Otherwise we may need to pool resources and purchase healing potions or a CLW wand (partial charge?) at some point. What do you guys think?

Saria Fartul |

Hello everyone! I am glad to be playing alongside you all.
A big thank you to DM Dickie for picking me, and for going with the extra effort of providing two tables!
Saria shares the love of knowledge and adventure common among pathfinders, but she also has more personal reasons for joining the Society and the Varisian lodge in particular - her mother was also a pathfinder who went missing during a mission in Varisia. Saria jumped at the opportunity to join the Varisian lodge in hopes of finding more about her mother's fate.
Regarding the healing issue, I have no problem with dedicating my spell slots to CLW - although picking up a wand is always a good idea. I can cast up to 4 each day (with one coming from my bonded object). Having access to the full shaman spell list means I can easily accommodate my spell choices towards whatever the party needs, so fell free to provide suggestions:)

Izabelia Nirodin |

Thanks so much, Saria. That’ll be very helpful. :)

Variant Ability: 1d100 ⇒ 79
Thanks DM... this one is "you always know the current position of the stars." It isn't (at least on the surface) as powerful as a spell-like ability, but I think I am going to take it because storywise, it goes with Zadira's supernatural ability to sense things underground and her talent as a mapmaker. Her celestial blood makes her hyper aware of not only the world around her, but her position in the heavens, so it would be unusual for her to be able to be lost or to lose track of time, even during the day or underground, because she is aware of the stars, even then. ... Sound okay?
____
As far as an OOC introduction to the character, Zadira is from a family of smugglers, but veered into the profession of mapmaker after her affinity for the underground was discovered, and she leans towards the good, so this eases her conscience somewhat. She still does not really have much of a respect for the law though. Her parents are good people, getting important things to the people who need and/or value them, and laws against graverobbing just seem ludicrous to her. Dead people don't need stuff. Living people do.
As far as her place in the party... she has a great passive ability to just auto-notice hazards underground within 10 feet and was built as more of a rogue replacement with solid archery, but since we have a bard who was also built to do that, I guess she is just a shady archer. :) Maybe should have gone with Divine Marksman as an archetype instead, but was thinking more ruins exploration than combat ability... but she can do both, and nothing wrong with some backup or passive trapfinding. It is an interesting mix of characters. Should be fun. :)

Just to be clear in case the runes ARE a trap - I have no knowledge about this AP.
Saria's thoughts just mirror my own after reading Eskander's post:
Let me check if I prepared Light or some other evocation cantrip. It would make sense for people in a magic discipline focused society to use something like that, and it makes more sense than having the key for your treasure clearly visible and accessible to all. But that would make the runes a trap, and make the choice of "lucre" as a word an even better fit - Oh crap!

Izabelia Nirodin |

Hello all!
Hoping your Table a great adventure! Perhaps, we may hear tales of you while visiting the Lodge!
Hi, Anansi! Good to hear from you. Here's to shared tales at the Lodge!

Izabelia Nirodin |

Izabelia was checking the puzzle box for traps and is currently studying it for magical auras.
Zadira has swapped the letters, so we'll see what happens next.

Hello Anansi! How are things going at your table? Did you get your sheet already?
And Polly, your name has only now clicked for me! Nice choice for a linguist! :)

May I propose some bets?
--Which party suffers the first "player character down"?
--Which party does the first instance of damage above 25 hitpoints?
--Which party will completely surprise the GM first?
--Any other ideas?
Strictly for bragging rights?

Thanks for letting us know, DM.

By the way, I added the rules for accessing Monument Boons to the Campaign Info tab. Scattered around Magnimar are ancient monuments which depict a number of different things. Performing certain rituals at the monuments grants special benefits. The AP adds a couple of new monuments to expand on the ones in the Magnimar city book.
You will be running about the city at times, so I'll mention them when possible when you're in a district or area near such aonument, or you could seek them out yourselves during any free time. Diplomacy to gather information and Knowledge (local or history) checks would be useful in finding them and understanding the ritual needed to complete them in such a case. This is where having the Monument Scholar trait comes in handy!

Izabelia Nirodin |

Known monuments and their mechanical info added to the Campaign Info tab.
Thanks for that, DM Dickie. :)

Izabelia Nirodin |

So, I'm not sure exactly where my family is right now... Izabelia, do you have family in the city here?
@Eskander: Please know I wasn't being rude in not answering. I simply forgot to in character when the game moved forward. Sorry. It works out for Bel as she is being rather tight-lipped about her family and where she grew up. Maybe he can take it that she probably didn't hear him or she is being rather mysterious for some reason. ;)

Izabelia Nirodin |

Thanks, Eskander. That's good. :)
Just a courtesy heads-up: The Easter long weekend in Oz will be a busy one with me hosting extended family, My posts will be sporadic at best until my Monday/your Sunday when things should calm down enough that I have time to get on the boards and post. This will start from tomorrow (Good Friday in the southern hemisphere). Thanks for your understanding. :)
(p.s. I'll be able to get in a post on the gameplay thread later today before the Easter frenzy.)

Izabelia Nirodin |

Just another courtesy heads-up: Another busy weekend for me, starting with my birthday on Saturday (and going out of town tomorrow) and the Orthodox Easter on Sunday. It's a long weekend here in Oz, so I hope to get back to a normal posting routine on the boards from my Monday/your Sunday. Thanks for your understanding and patience. :)

Just so folks know, you're welcome to use your own custom images for Roll20 character slots, but ovwr the next couple days I'll be snipping and uploading current profile pics. The map is on the generic city street where all of this is going down, and the characters will be on the top right side of the map inside the black box I drew in. You'll see the thugs on the far left top.
You'll likely see this map again. It's my basic generic go-to for a street encounter, lol. Don't take that to mean the architecture in Magnimar is the same as in Kaer Maga or Korvosa =P
I'm hoping to go through and update the Magnimar map to show known locations, but thats kind of a low priority and I have a lot going on, so no promises on that getting done. I mention that because there is a really big dungeon crawl for the second half of this book (most of the books in this AP are structured in a similar way) and visiting a monument or two before going in might be really useful.

Izabelia Nirodin |

Happy bday and happy Easter!
Thanks, DM Dickie!

I added Bel's pic to a Roll20 character slot, to save you a little time.

Zadira |

I added Zadira as well, but when I pulled her icon to the screen, it is way too big. Not sure how to resize it, sorry.

Zadira |

Can you mark on the map where the place we are going is?

Izabelia Nirodin |

Mallory, where did you move your character to (via your last post) so your token can be moved accordingly on the map?

Izabelia Nirodin |

Thanks, Mal. I've moved your token.

Izabelia Nirodin |

Saria, I think the GM needs to change the privacy setting on your token on the map? I can't move it either, but I can move all the others.

Izabelia Nirodin |

Is Polly still playing? Has anyone reached out to the player? It's been a month since her last post.

DM Dickie |

Just sent a message before looking to move things ahead. As someone quite distracted by RL stuff, I'm hoping nothing to bad is going on and that she makes it back soon. I think her character had a lot to offer. For now I'm going to bot her until I can find a place to "drop her off" story-wise so she'll be waiting in the wings if her errant player returns, lol.

Izabelia Nirodin |

Saria’s token on the map is the only one that can’t be moved. You may need to delete and add a new one, GM. Thanks!
