"You are welcome, by the way! See you around, I suppose..." Yasami does a half-shout at the guides as they leave.

"Lovely people. Not sure if I preferred them as statues, to be honest. Stone cold hearts, eh?" she smiles at her own joke, then checks the straps on her backpack before moving on.

"Alright, I think we've lost what ... two days of time on this? Doubt our little cult was waiting for us, so we better move out."

Yeah I vote for the mines, wherever they are.

Before Catalina translates anything, she pulls a face and shudders with disgust over the information about silk underwear. "Ew, what!?"

She then turns to the rest of the party and translates the rest. She turns back to the porters and offers them a slight bow from the waist, speaking in Mwangi. "I think we are used to dealing with more helpless folk. Our apologies. We wish you luck going forward. Ahh...I don't think you got any of our names, though." Catalina smiles at the porters and introduces herself and will translate introductions for anyone else who wishes to. "Safe travels."

"I know!" he replied in reference to the underwear. "We will not forget your names. Thank you, truly and deeply. I wish we had something to offer you, but... he did not pay us very well. Still... here." He pulled off a leather cord that dangled around his neck. A very large claw, longer than Catalina's hand, was fastened to it.

"Ran afoul of a large beast that took exception to my presence. She hooked me with that claw and I cut off the digit it was attached to, and managed to escape and hide. Kept it as a reminder. Now I've escaped death twice -- I don't think I'm going to push my luck a third time. Maybe I'll find a nice job in a tavern or something." He chuckled wryly. "I hope it brings you the same luck it brought me."

They took their leave, and you did as well, continuing in the direction of the mine. DC 20 Survival for the campsite that night. RP as you like. Then...

--------------------------The Next Day----------------------

Renali departs at first light, planning to scout the area nearby while you all forge ahead, seeking the next pillar Edka told you about, that should be somewhere nearby.

It's around midday when you find it. A clearing, up ahead. And the pillar is not alone. Three large, green reptiles, resembling dragons but with two legs instead of four, are lazing about around the base of the pillar, sunning themselves. Stealth checks as you approach, you're welcome to follow the expert. Perception DC 23 to notice there is a 4th creature in the trees nearby. Catalina gleefully takes the claw, holding it up and admiring it with a wide grin. "Thank you. I...we...will cherish this!"

The thaumaturge reluctantly offers it around to the party, although it is very clear she would like to keep it.

A weird monster claw is totally up Catalina's alley, but me as the player, I won't be fussed if anyone actually wants it. :P

Catalina plods alongside the others as they leave, but works to stay out of the way when it comes time to make camp. Despite her time hunting on her own, she was ill-suited to determine things like...where a good place to camp might be and such.

That evening would find Catalina sitting off on her own, shuffling through her Harrow deck rather pensively. The tall woman draws a card...

Catalina looks at the large, quiet man thoughtfully, fidgeting with the good luck claw the porters had given them. "I could give it a try," She replies, shrugging. "It would be nice to take a break. Caiten and Catalina recognize these as Jungle Drakes.

They are ravenous, bestial, and driven by instinct, with but a fraction of the terrifying might of their larger cousins and little, if any, of their cunning. A bonded group of them like this is known as a “rampage" with good reason.

Because they lack forearms, only their formidable jaws and thick-scaled tails present dangers if engaged at melee range. Most drakes would rather avoid close combat, however, preferring to use their breath weapons to wreak havoc in wide swaths from comfortable distances while flying overhead. They have small reservoirs of their ancestral draconic power that they can tap into to perform incredible feats of speed. The jungle variety, in particular, are venomous, and can spit globs of the stuff in addition to stinging with their tails.

Lisi once again comes through, finding a safe place to camp for the night. Should Sulee allow it, the warg pups curl up beside her in an adorable dog pile of warmth and coziness, which Guba was welcome to join if they so chose.

Catalina ponders the card she drew, wondering at the knowledge in question. Was there something they didn't know? Almost certainly. But who had the knowledge they needed? And what would it take to learn it?

The evening is spent learning a little conversational Mwangi. How to greet someone, to explain you are a friend, to ask if they need help -- a dozen or so phrases. The pronunciation takes practice, and there's much laughter all around as some of you butcher the first attempts. There are sounds in the Mwangi language that have no comparisons in Taldane, and take effort to make your mouths form. But all in all, the evening is a pleasant one, spent joking with friends, in the heart of a trackless jungle.

Exploit Vulnerability stuff:
I assume because the recall knowledge for it was 22, that's its standard dc - if not, let me know. 22 is a success if that's the case.

Success: You recall an important fact about the creature, learning its highest weakness (or one of its highest weaknesses, if it has multiple with the same value) but not its other weaknesses, resistances, or immunities. You can exploit either the creature's mortal weakness or personal antithesis. Your unarmed and weapon Strikes against the creature also become magical if they weren't already.

Mortal weakness is if they have a highest listed weakness. If not:

Personal Antithesis: You improvise a custom weakness on a creature by forcefully presenting and empowering a piece of esoterica that repels it on an individual level; for instance, against a tyrant, you might procure a broken chain that once held a captive. This causes the target creature, and only the target creature, to gain a weakness against your unarmed and weapon Strikes equal to 2 + half your level.

I looked up the stat block to see if there was a listed weakness and didn't see one, so I'm assuming personal antithesis would be the way to go. That would give it weakness 4 against my attacks - but only for that specific drake (drake 3).

"Ah, I have just the thing..." The thaumaturge fishes out an oil she had once used to weaken a different species of drake on a hunt with Nikolai - something that dried out the scales and caused cracking and peeling. She quickly applied it to her weapon and watched it glow - just briefly. "Let's see..."

The thaumaturge carefully aims her pistol before firing off a shot at a tender spot in its neck. She then quickly reloads her pistol, ready to strike again.

"I'll take my shot at in when I have a chance!" Dario shouts to Caiten. The magically gifted went to analyze the pillar but Dario had more in common with the pompous explorer at this moment; he knew that a bullet could put it down and he was more than willing to do so. Before he could levy the shot though, the drake turned its attention towards him and erupted in a flurry of attacks.

Dario stepped back away from the dragon's snapping jaw, dipping low to avoid the bite that sought to crush his head. Its stinger came in quick and viciously but the gunslinger moved just a bit quicker. The blade parried the blow away but when it came in again, the creature cunningly stabbed him in the arm to administer its poison.

Goddamnit!" The gunslinger hissed out, his skin immediately burning as pain wracked through him. He felt weaker, unable to bring his full force to bear. Catalina curses her missed shot, but despite its size, the drake was serpentine and moved like a whip, and it was difficult to draw a bead on a big enough target that wasn't thrashing about.

It was okay, though -- because teamwork saw the thing fall. Lisi blasted the drake with a ray of frost that spread icy crystals across its face, freezing the moisture over its eyes as if it had cataracts. In that moment of distraction, Joran and Dario did what they do best, the heavy flail beating the creature to the ground and Dario unloading two bullets into it (no hero point required, Dario.)

The drake crashed, dead, to the jungle floor, as you heard the yelps of the warg pups...

Still Yasami's turn -- I was going to have Lisi target Drake 2 because of the wargs, but he's equidistant between the two enemies and the 10 damage was needed to finish this one off so =)
