I got interested in https://www.finalfantasyd20.com when there was a recent recruitment that died off, and would be interested in using these rules to run a game.

However I know nothing about the FF fluff except that it comes from a series of (Japanese (?)) video games, so we'd have to pick a different setting that I'm actually familiar enough with to run a game. I'm open to suggestions -- I've been playing DnD for like 25 years on and off, so I am familiar with a lot of the classic settings and Golarion. I'm not sure what would be a good fit for these rules.

Yeah. I was in that thread. The Final Fantasy games are, indeed, Japanese RPGs. Something like Eberron with the tech curve pushed a little further up seems like a natural fit for a Final Fantasy-like game.

Sarlona maybe?

I personally prefer Khorvaire, on the whole. I feel like Sharn would be very close to a Final Fantasy VI-esque point if the Day of Mourning had arrived even ten years later and more of Cyre's technology had spread.

I think Eberron would be a heckin great setting to use the FFd20 rules in!

It's also one of my favorite worlds that I've sadly not played nearly enough in.

"Eberron" Did someone say raptor riding halflings?!

What he said.

Oooh, they even have a warforged equivalent in the rules!

I'm willing to run 1 more game, would everyone prefer eberron w/ ffd20 rules or homebrew?

I think for sure eberron would be really interesting, if I get to have a preference!

I think I'm leaning towards the Eberron idea right now because I'm taking an accelerated chemistry class right now, and it's ending up being even more work that I had originally imagined, and I'm not sure I can do a completely homebrewed campaign justice.

Also, if we're doing Eberron (which I know the basic lore for, but I don't own every book for like Dark Sun and Scarred Lands), I'd want to clarify a couple of changes/decisions I'm making about the setting:

First, the continent size stays the same as in the original 3.5 edition where's Khorvaire is the size of NA.

However, I think it's generally acknowledged that the population figures are way way too low, so I'd kick those all up considerably (Sharn needs to have millions of inhabitants, not 275,000, etc.).

Also, I'd want to use this slightly rearranged map, while still keeping the original large size of Khorvaire intact.

Also, probably if we're doing FFd20 rules the power level may be a bit higher than the published 3.5 setting -- like I might make the Lord of Blades level 20+.

I was in the previous recruitment too and I'd be interested in this as well.
