I would agree, no need to waste ammo
**hand wave** case scene at end and end of fight. The creatures can't really out run most of the party
As the party races to their buggies, their comm units come on. Kyefi’s voice suddenly breaks the silence. “Err, folks... you should really
be getting on your way. There’s some foul weather up in the west, and
the tide is coming in faster than the original forecast showed. I suggest
you leave. Right now!” The starfinders start them up and head out as a down pour drops on them. A few minutes later waves start lashing the area and a tidal sure is visible behind the group. One of the group floors the buggy. person with highest Pilot skill As the buggies fly forward a large hole is visible. At the last second the Starfinder turns the wheel to the right, missing the hole as the other Starfinders hang on for dear life, their hair flying back. The water rises as one Starfinder logs onto the satellite navigation system and finds a shorter route home. The driver taps the breaks and makes a 90 degree turn and heads for the shuttle.
Water drips into the shuttle as you take off.
When you land you receive a comm from a blocked number. In a cryptic message, a modulated voice requests they stall for an additional week before turning Datch’s passcodes over to AbadarCorp. If asked to identify themself, the caller responds only with “no name,” but explains that they’re ananticorp activist looking to take the megacorp down a peg. They assure you that this delay will make the corp sweat without
hurting Pact World residents.
delay or not?
Option-8 |
"I do not believe so. Let us go over what we do know.
Datch, former Arc Director of AbadarCorp and now a convicted criminal who caused the Society a lot of grief left us no choice to retrieve passwords for a nasty technomagical code she left in the Golden Vault’s security mainframe that’s going to lock them out entirely in a few weeks.
She is only doing this as an act of repentance for her past actions. My intuition tells me she could have arranged for a lesser sentence by providing this intel.
If we did not cooperate, she says that after word gets out of the Golden Vaults lockdown, it could cause chaos on Absalom Station and wreak havoc on the Pact World system’s economy.
She said AbadarCorp would eventually break her code and if they found out the Society knew, it may cause strife between our organization and theirs.
Do we know Datch is being truthful? No.
Do we know exactly what this code will do? No.
Do we know if AbadarCorp has already found out about this code? No.
Do we know if this mysterious cryptic message is correct about the outcome? No.
In my opinion, Datch is blackmailing the Society to clean up a mess she left that would make her look extremely bad to her former employers. AbadarCorp has deep pockets and can make things difficult for both the Society and her. This "No Name" anticorp activist discovered Datch's plan. They have not offered their name or reasoning in return but is just trying to bring AbadarCorp down a notch. We do not know if this "No Name" worked with Datch and wishes to continue her previous plot.
In the end we are Starfinders and do what is right by the Society and its people.
A lot to think over."

The doctor thinks about the situation, giving her thoughts “As much as I do not trust Datch, I believe that AbadarCorp offer some usefull services, including providing medicines. They are a mercantile oriented corporation and sometimes lack desire to help others. I do not believe hurting them will change that in any way.”

"I would say we need to hand the code over to Abadarcorp anonymously so that if its a virus or something, we don't take blame for it. If it is not a virus and they figure out who sent it to them, then we shouldn't get into any trouble."
I would say let's not delay more than we have to.

"Like most, I've got creds tied up in Abadarcorp and this activist won't even offer a name, let alone anything else for our trouble. Let me try something." He pulls up his datapad and tries to contact that activist with a simple message:
You know nothing in the void is free, so you got some creds for our delay?
Assuming he doesn't get a response
"Whelp, I see no reason we should hold on to it. Corps like these don't stay down too long anyway so I say let's not with the delay and move on with our lives...I need a drink, still with me for one, Irres?"
Hagitha |
"What if this message is also from Datch? And what if the program is going to trigger during this delay? Then Datch could prove we had the solution and did not provide it. I do not think any delay is a good idea."
Farsurrwag the Bleachling |
"Oooooh! I am a HUGE fan of chaos! I say we delay an additional month!" Farsurrwag suggests.
