"Hey now, cut that out!" Baghotir cries at the ghast eating Roberts. He departs orange (who gets an opportunity attack) and rushes to aid his friend.
He has his spiritual weapon attack the green ghast (bonus action). He'll use his bardic inspiration to try and plant the hit!
Spiritual Axe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 or Advantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 plus bless and bard: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (4) = 6

Baron Belwick Donnamoor
"Don't worry! I'll step in save her!" Belwick says, hustling forward and picking the fairy up out of the water.
Dungeon Master Tony
Baghotir's might and his divine magic put an end to the Faerie Fired Ghast! The Hungry Creature is hacked to bits.
Caelius nearly slays the other, his thrust going deep into the creatures belly, but it grabs the blade and pushes Caelius and the sword away, clacking its fanged teeth and hissing.
Venn!
Venn Greenbough
"WhaT? Where? Trithereon's Rage what the f*$!?"
Venn stands up.
First time looking at the map. Not sure what is what and where I can get to...
Dungeon Master Tony
Venn, you're awake but caught in a spider's web. Strength (Athletics) DC 11 or you can use a weapon or tool to cut the webs by attack them with disadvantage.
The north and south passages are difficult terrain from the webbing, and the hatch to the cargo hold is broken open. Easily avoided now, or you can hop down into the hold. The Hold is flooded with water up to about 3', making it difficult terrain.
Venn to finish round 13, then Alisanne and Roberts.
Venn Greenbough
"Blasted!" Restrained, Venn tries to bust his way out.
Athletics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 @#$!@$#%
Embers In the Sky "aka Roberts"
|
Roberts continues to cough the remaining bit of water out of her lungs but gets out a "Thank ye" and then sneers as she heads towards the target in view.
Target: Orange
Rapier Atk Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Rapier Dam Roll: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Bonus: Attack
Dagger Atk Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Dagger Dam Roll: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Sneak Attack Damage, if there's a hit
Sneak Atk Dam Roll: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Alisanne Skullfist
Alisanne smirks at seeing Venn struggle with the webbing. She hops down into the hold and shoots the undead.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2) + 3 = 9
Dungeon Master Tony
Alisanne and Roberts put down the last Ghast.
One ettercap remains, and it is sleeping. What will you do with it?
Baghotir Nightthane
Baghotir will slosh over and slay it, unless convinced otherwise, "It's vermin." he shrugs, giving his vote.
"Might be more undead below. Anyone need a top up?" he eyes Venn, at least, and offers healing.
I can do a prayer of healing (2d8+4 to everyone) or a cure wounds on just one of you (1d8+4). I want to save my other spells. Who's wounded?
I suppose we could go back to the ship for a short (1hr) rest and heal some, but Baghotir is eager to press on.
Venn Greenbough
"Finish him! Also, I'm wounded."
Baron Belwick Donnamoor
Belwick, who likes to solve mysteries with knowledge, considers whether the ettercap is smart enough to be reasoned with as a prisoner.
Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
... and then Caelius stabs it, making the whole process moot.
Dungeon Master Tony
Prayer of Healing is a long-ish casting time. Where are you resting and casting, and what's your next move?
Short Rest or just the spell?
Baghotir Nightthane
True! 10 minutes
"Let's see what we can do to keep going shall we?" Baghotir casts a cure wounds on Venn.
CW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
He'll cast another.
CW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
lol. Figures.
Baghotir looks at the poor man, "Geeze that doesn't seem near enough does it? You wanna hang back a bit, or should we head to the ship for a breather?"
Baron Belwick Donnamoor
"Yes, let's head topside and take a few moments. We've got some things to think about, and I'd like to plan next steps where there's light to be had."
Definitely think we need to take a Short Rest. I'd like to do Arcane Recovery and spend some Hit Dice to deal with my wounds.
Hit Die: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Baghotir Nightthane
Baghotir shrugs and nods. "Sure, that's fine with me. Lets do it back on the ship though. I don't think we'll get much rest here if there are more undead about." He peers into the water, "And I'm bettin' there is."
Either way, during his short rest he'll recover his channel divinity, and heal a trifle.
Healing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Fully healed.
Caelius Burningseeker
Caelius helps the wounded get topside as for once e was not the one being carried out on a stretcher. "Take a short breather then we can finish clearing out the ship. We don't know how much of it is underwater and I can't hold my breath for very long."
Short rest sounds good.
Venn Greenbough
"I appreciate the help, but I think I need a bit more time to rst."
Dungeon Master Tony
Everyone gathers topside in the afternoon sun. Gulls call in the background, and the dingy floats a couple hundred feet away, awaiting your signal. You occasionally notice one of the Dwarves stand up and check in on you.
As your short rest comes to an end, there's a loud *THUMP* from far beneath you. You have just a moment to ask aloud, "What was that?", when the entire ship moves about 50 feet to the port side, planks in the bulkheads groaning and straining.
Then, all is still.
And the carpet of spiders lingers in the shadows, still charmed by Alisanne.
What now?
Baghotir Nightthane
"That thump is something that'll linger in my dreams there's no doubt. Anything that can move a ship of that size that far is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Everyone be careful."
Baghotir suggests, "Before we go any deeper, let's check the aft cabin, likely the captains cabin. Might be something there like a log book. Might be some things worth learning in such a find."
He'll walk to the rear door, and when everyone is ready, he'll open it - hammer in hand.
Baron Belwick Donnamoor
1 person marked this as a favorite.
"It could be that the ship has not settled, and could sink further beneath the waves. Either way, I think we had best get on with it," Belwick stands up, following after Baghotir. For good measure he draws a dagger out from its sheath.
Should anyone look at Belwick, who up until this point hasn't used the dagger for anything more than a tool for roasting meat cubes, he says, "What? I was tutored in swordplay by a master. I picked up a few things."
Dungeon Master Tony
Baghotir opens the door to the south. Light spills in from the sunny day outside.
The Stone Altar is what catches your eyes first. It's crude, shaped by unskilled hands. Strange symbols are etched and painted on its surface. Dried mud cakes the floor around it.
Lining the walls around are humanoid skulls, mounted on wooden spikes.
In the corners are piles and piles of garbage. Torn sacks, wooden logs, smashed furniture and crates. There are several piles of dried palm fronds.
In the southeast corner, a staircase descends to the deck below.
The odor in this room is very strong and irritating. It burns the nostrils and you can taste it in the back of your throat.
Baghotir Nightthane
"Hard to say who turned this into their temple - the spidery dudes or the undead. Either way, we should burn this boat to the waterline when we're done."
Probing the floor as he goes, Baghotir will enter the chamber and look about after casting light on his helm to aid examination.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Assuming he finds nothing of note, he'll head down the stairs.
Venn Greenbough
Short rest: 2 HD: 3d10 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2, 10) + 9 = 25
Venn, finally feeling himself, descends aside Bagothir.
Dungeon Master Tony
Baghotir casts the spell on his helm and starts his poking around. He looks up JUST in time to see a Giant Spider on the ceiling above him, it suddenly burns with unholy energy and it opens its fangs and lunges to bite the dwarf.
At the same time, a pile of fronds explodes up and another Ettercap appears and goes for Venn, who's keen ranger senses alert him before the creature can get the jump on him.
Thousands of spiders start pouring up through the floorboards.
A Battle Begins...

Alisanne bends down to her little friends.
We're up to some mischief. Why don't you run off to the deepest part of the ship to hide. I wouldn't want you getting hurt.
She rushes then to Caelius's side. She plays a quick refrain on her flute then taps Caelius on the shoulder with it.
Protection from Poison on Caelius; advantage on save vs being poisoned and resistance to Poison damage
Venn, you got this! Glad to have you back in the fight! and a golden quarter note floats over and circles Venn.
If a creature has a Bardic Inspiration die from you and casts a spell that restores hit points or deals damage, the creature can roll that die and choose a target affected by the spell. Add the number rolled as a bonus to the hit points regained or the damage dealt. The Bardic Inspiration die is then lost.
When granting a creature a Bardic Inspiration die, you summon a Mote of Potential that orbits within 5 ft. of the creature.
Ability Check. The Bardic Inspiration die can be rolled again - choose which roll to use.
Attack Roll. The target and each creature of your choice that you can see within 5 ft. of it must succeed on a CON saving throw (DC: 14) or take thunder damage equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die.
Saving Throw. The creature using the Bardic Inspiration die gains temporary hit points equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die +4
Dungeon Master Tony
The colony that I'm now going to call, "Swarmy", obeys Alisanne and disappears beneath deck.
The Ettercap starts to lunge at Venn, but changes tactics when Venn turns, blade bared, ready to fight. The Ettercap spins a net of webbing and spews it onto The Ranger.
Web Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15. The web Restrains Venn! Venn cannot move from that square. He has disadvantage on all attacks and incoming attacks are at Advantage.
