So this is probably a ridiculously easy question to answer, but damned if I can figure it out. I run a couple other adventures using Google Slides for battlemaps, but I use links for those and embed them in my posts.
For this game, I'd rather have one of those 'Slides' links in the top left so players can easily access their character sheets.
But I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get a Slides link up there. What am I not seeing? I'm sure it's something painfully obvious... :)

I figure top left of the page, so that everyone can see it easily. Click on the link and you'll be able to see your characters. I guess I could do it as a link in my posts, but then you'd have to find my post to click the link. I figure if it's up there at the top of the main page it'd just be easier for the players to access whenever they want.

Syrus, give me one more roll on the 8 sided die! This is to determine what kind of farmer your Refugee #1 was (in his pre-adventuring life!)
Also, one more roll on the d24 as you wound up with two of the same item for the same character (one for your occupation, the second for your random item), so I'm going to try again on the random item table.
And yeah, jeez I couldn't find any hints at all about getting that link up there! I figured it was in that Campaign tab somewhere though, just couldn't quite suss it out. :)

Oops! Forgot to share the Google link. Should be public now.
And carrying around TWO crowbars might be a bit much! Though now that I think about it, that might be kinda badass... Either way, if you'd rather do two crowbars instead of a crowbar and a Thieves' Tools let me know! :)

1) No birth augurs for two of my characters?
2) And whoa. Stats don't work the same way in DCC as they do in 3.x/PF? The ordering doesn't correspond, it seems. It has thrown my vague conceptions of these characters into disarray.
Will you go over the stats, bonuses, and application of each just a bit, West?

Birth Augurs only matter when there is a luck modifier, so those with a 0 I didn't bother with. That said, you CAN get luck from time to time, as well as spend luck to make your dice rolls better, but those augurs are only affected by starting luck scores.
Stats are a bit different in DCC, as are the modifiers - though you can see a lot of similarities too. STR is same, AGI equates to DEX, STA equates to CON, PER is basically CHA and maybe a bit of WIS), INT is also the same, and LUCK is it's own thing. There is a wider range of 'average', with 9-12 being a 0 modifier, 13-15 being +1, 16-17 is +2 and 18 is +3 (with the flip side having the same dynamic.)
Hope that helps! Things will become more clear as we game and use the modifiers to make rolls.
Heh. I have an int15 trapper, and an agility18 stamina6 miner.
I guess the miner is more of a smuggler, as I can’t picture someone like him doing physical labor.
It's fun to make the character fit the occupation! Figure your miner has a bad case of black lung maybe? He's wiry and able to squeeze into places other miners couldn't get into? Maybe your trapper was an intellectual type that doesn't like people in general so retreated to the wilderness and took up trapping as a way to make a living?
And Lemming, I usually drop the race in the occupation description. In case we ever start a 1st level game, I don't want your Halfling Moneylender suddenly taking the Dwarf class, for instance! :)

AGM Lemming |

I understand. The occupation is what you used to do. Maybe it matters to the current....
Refugee #3 used to be a Gongfarmer. Personality 7 possibly because he wasn't/isn't particularly clean? Could also lend itself to the Birth Augur, Survived the plague. And surviving the plague could be why his Stamina is below average, but not enough for a negative modifier. Why he'd still be carrying a sack of night soil though....
I've only got the quick start rules, and only read a little. Having two characters with 1 HP I'm concerned.... Death for a 0 level character is 0 HP? So I better watch for any insects that might sting.... A mosquito could kill me!?! LOL!

GM West |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Oh yeah! A thrown rock could kill you! 0-Level characters are the definition of fragile!! And sometimes death is so unfair you don't even take damage, it's just 'insta-death'!
That said, if you lose all your characters, I will do my best to get you back into the game with a new set of three 0-Level characters as fast as possible.

OK, other than the extra rolls I've asked for in the Recruitment tab, and waiting for at least one of our two final applicants to post their rolls, we are getting pretty close to ready.
If you haven't seen them yet, your characters are up in the DCC Characters link at the top left, where I've posted them as Slides. With the extra players, I've decided everyone should have three characters instead of four, so let me know who you wish to drop.
You'll notice I haven't named them (it's best not to get too attached!), but if you want to name them, feel free to do so with the text box feature. Heck, you can even find some pics for them, if you REALLY want to torture yourself! Just nothing silly, please. I won't be able to get it out of my head if I see a character with a Spongebob picture or something like that... ;)
When January finishes up, I'll get our adventure started! In the meantime, feel free to ask questions if you'd like and I'll do my best to answer them.

I'll drop #1, the apothecarist.
Nothing positive, 1 negative (stamina/fort) and 1 HP. Better yet, keep him and we can use him as a mine detector....
Reminds me of 1977 D&D. No building characters, just roll the dice and play! One of my favorites (for memory purposes only) was a fighter with a high stat (str) of 9. He had 2 HP, rolled low for gold also so he had leather armor and a club. I named him "Thud" as I said that would be the sound everyone would hear at our first melee when he was hit by anything, fell and died! He almost made it to second level....

Ok, for my trio of wannabes, If it's ok, I'm going to have the Chandler sell his lantern for 10gp, and purchase a warhammer for 5gp. And then my Trapper will sell his Thieves Tools for 25gp and purchase a Battle Axe for 7gp and a waterskin for 5sp.

GM West |

Okay Kriznox, you're set.
Anyone else with purchases? I also need everyone to pare down to three characters. I'd like to get the final versions up soon, with your purchases made and also I'll throw names on those sheets if you insist on naming your doomed would-be-heroes!
I will be posting in the Gameplay thread very soon, so feel free to RP with each other (even among your own characters!) But please post here in Discussion to give me these final decisions before doing so. Thanks!!

Yes, please do pare down to three characters each. Assuming we get all 8 players that have signed up to join in the adventure, that'd be a total of 24 characters total.
...for now.
Dun dun dunnnn!

apologies for my absence of late. life. i'll get my list properly pruned in short order!
EDIT: i suppose i'll drop the 1 HP shaman from my roster. though something tells me he might have lasted the longest. lol
West, you're going to have the backup characters pregenerated in the case a player loses all his/her runaways?

My son pointed out to me that my blacksmith has 1HP. Dropping him and keeping the orphan! Sorry about that :p
No problem!
West, you're going to have the backup characters pregenerated in the case a player loses all his/her runaways?
I could do that, or we could just have you roll up a new set of four characters. I'm fine either way, and players usually feel more connected to their characters if they're the ones that do the rolling, I think!

Ahh, so it isn't the end of the line for the players if all of our 0-level scrubs bite the dust right away? Somehow I'd missed that.
Good to know. Makes this feel less like an ill-fated trip to the casino, and all the more fun.

Today is a good day to... halp |

Nice!! You doing any trading for better equipment, Halp?
Figured it be better to post here rather than the recruitment part of the campaign, GM West. In terms of the DCC coinage system, I'm guessing that 10 cp equals 1 sp and 10 sp equals 1 gp, similar to how PF and D&D works?
In terms of any further purchases, I'll have all three characters buy a small sack [8 cp] and 1 torch [1 cp] each.
PS. Happy belated birthday, Syrus Terrigan. ;)

GM West |

Halp, that is corect!
I'm going to get your character sheets finalized tonight - be sure you've picked your 3 favorites or I'll just drop the one with the lowest stats (in my opinion) if you haven't made a choice!
Also last chance to make any purchases with the meager coppers you have and/or trading starting equipment.
I think everyone has posted in the adventure thread, so I'll make a post tonight when I get home!
Do me a big favor please and post with the same login you've been using to create your character sheets so it's easy for me to figure out who is who. Thanks! :)

Okay folks, the post is up and the adventure is officially underway! Your character sheet in the slides link at the top should be in their final version as of now. Let me know if I overlooked something you've posted - whether a name or a sale of your starting equipment for some bit of gear that might help you survive.
Realized that I hadn't heard in the adventure thread from Lilly, so if that player doesn't post in the next couple days I'll just drop them from the game.

Comrade Bukharina sells her Shortsword (3.5GP), picks up the pitchfork of comrade Rutabaga-farmer (Engels), and buys both of them blackjacks for 3 GP each.
