Diazepane will drink an extract of shield before the door opens.
He'll begin lobbing bombs through the doorway.
Force Bomb, RS, PBS: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 30 vs touch
Force, PBS: 5d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 6, 5) + 8 + 1 = 33
13 splash force on a miss, DC 23 Reflex for half
Force Bomb, RS, PBS: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 16 vs touch
Force, PBS: 5d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 5, 1) + 8 + 1 = 23
13 splash force on a miss, DC 23 Reflex for half
Force Bomb, RS, PBS: 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 2 + 1 = 6 vs touch
Force, PBS: 5d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 4, 2) + 8 + 1 = 19
13 splash force on a miss, DC 23 Reflex for half
Note that alchemist bombs have a weird crit - only the first 1d6 is doubled.
Crit?: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 22 vs touch
Extra Force: 1d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 1 = 15

It looks like the longest healing time was a total of 22 rounds. It's a little hard to be quite sure as most of the healing overlapped. And Kioshi opened the door in his post before we kicked off this session of combat.
Diazepane gets his revenge only one shanked throw not landing on his target. He doesn't give quite as good as he got but the ooze is looking much worse for the wear than when the alchemist started.

As Kioshi moves towards the door- Kal sighs and pulls a short, thick, wand from a hidden pocket in his robe. Tapping it on his thigh a translucent barrier springs up and engulfs him. Stowing the wand again he drags himself to his feet and moves to the doorway.
"I guess that means we are going back in?..."

Shonne looks at the roiling cloud of arms, weapons, and pseudo-pods whirling about in chamber looking to see if its worth it to add to the carnage.
EbonFist |
Shonne quickly determines that there is no need to add to the carnage.
Remarkably, Diazepane misses the fairly easy target a second time, though the first of his latest round of bombs hits.
With that damage and Kal'Ryon's first strike the ooze is destroyed, however, leaving the room free of threats to the Pathfinders.
Out of Combat. Feel free to heal up, anyone who needs to, do what you're going to do in this room and let me know where you're heading next.

Diazepane Ketal |
Diazepane will offer his wand of CLW as well. He'll search the room and advocate moving clockwise around the rooms.
EbonFist |
Following Diazepane's lead, the group moves to the next not-so-secret door and open it up.
Two ornately sculpted basins brimming with water occupy this chamber. Murals depicting lakes, oceans, rivers, and oases decorate the walls. A jumble of buckets and carrying yokes lie in one corner.
Kioshi Katsu |
Kioshi casts detect magic.
Any knowledge checks?
EbonFist |
Kioshi detects very, very faint magic as though the same minor spell has been cast in this room again and again, though not in the last few days.
No knowledge checks here.
Winding the Water Closet not entirely interesting, the group moves on to the next door.
This chamber bears depictions of rising flames on the northwest and southeast walls, paintings of a glorious dawn to the north and east, and a darkening sunset to the southwest. A dizzying array of alchemical equipment clutters the room: beakers, flasks, alembics, retorts, and racks and shelves brimming with reagents. On a central table, a green flame burns in a steel brazier. Bundles of dried herbs surround it.
Kal'ryon |
"If I have learned anything the last few trips, its to trust the professor. So... clockwise it is"
Kal stows his wand of infernal healing, but keeps his wand of shield nearby. Can't let that happen again... As each door is open, Kal quickly steps forward to take his place in front of the group.
Shonne |
Shonne guards the door waiting for Diazepane to make sense of the chamber.
"We have had an earth chamber and a water one, what is this one?"
Diazepane Ketal |
Diazepane will move in after Kal'ryon and examine the alchemical equipment.
EbonFist |
The alchemical equipment includes 7 flasks of acid, 12 flasks of alchemist’s fire, 10 vials of antitoxin, and a thunderstone.
Diazepane also finds a cache of alchemical notes of interest.
EbonFist |
The last chamber on this floor is part armory and part shrine, and several racks of well-oiled weapons take center stage. Each wall features a painting of a martial scene, some on the surface, some in the Darklands, and one of well-disciplined troops drilling in front of the Pagoda of the Rat. A tall, well-dressed figure reviews the troops in the latter painting.

Diazepane will gladly let others take the alchemical items, but he'll hold anything people don't want.
Are all the figures in the pictures ysoki?
Shonne |
Likewise. Although Shonne will take 10 on her knowledge check(s) (see above).
Shonne wonders about the floor's construction, particularly what is beyond the wall to her right, and all the other unaccounted for spaces on this floor.

Both Diazepane and Shonne notice that the tall, well-dressed figure reviewing the troops in the painting was added long after the mural was first finished.
Shonne also notices that the figure's hands curve backward around the golden scepter she holds.
The weapons in the room are in good shape and include a masterwork dwarven waraxe, a masterwork cold iron spiked chain, a masterwork silver heavy pick, 2 Small masterwork rapiers, and a Small masterwork greatsword.
Shonne doesn't find any easy way to get to the apparent spaces between but with a little work can get through a wall to find a triangular chamber with no exit save for a 10-foot-diameter window guarded by close-set bars.
Up the stairs, I assume?
Kal'ryon |
"No sense wasting an antitoxin. If its here for a reason, then there is a reason" Kal says, as he reaches out and grabs one of the vials. "Bottoms up!"
Unless someone objects, he will take one now. Duration 1 hour
Walking through the center of the room, Kal drags his finger across the blades displayed on the weapons rack. "They look nice. Nothing crazy, but definitely well made"
Drawing back his weapon, Kal looks at the stairs- back at the pathfinders- and nods knowingly.
Diazepane Ketal |
While people are looking around, Diazepane will spend 2 minutes to brew two more extracts of shield. Before heading upstairs, he'll drink an extract of alchemical allocation and swish around a potion of protection from evil.
He'll follow Kal'Ryon up the stairs.

On the 3rd floor, a great sprawl of makeshift tents and ramshackle stone huts fill this square chamber, some homes built right on top of others. The air is thick with smoke and the miasma of urban life. In the center of each wall, a round barred window opens out onto Round Mountain. A spiral staircase circling a central pillar leads to the upper and lower levels of the pagoda.
There are ratfolk everywhere living on and around each other with a lack of sense of personal space that is disturbing to non-ratfolk. It is hard to be certain but a quick estimate places the population just on this 65'x65' floor over a hundred.
The settlement comes right up to the stairs but not on it and all of the ratfolk nearby recoil back from the invaders.

Both Diazepane and Shonne notice that the tall, well-dressed figure reviewing the troops in the painting was added long after the mural was first finished.
Shonne also notices that the figure's hands curve backward around the golden scepter she holds.
"Curious." She points the oddity out to anyone else who might want to try and make the roll, if they haven't already.

To be clear she does not start excavating the walls. ;)

What language are they speaking? I am only assuming that if this is like any other town there are a number of conversions being had all around.
Shonne, not the most personable elf (especially with crowds), looks as though she is ready to move onward and upward.
This is not to say that the party should. ;)
EbonFist |
Shonne leaves the walls un-excavated (I'm as confused about why there are spaces no one can get to without breaking walls as anyone else.)
The cacophony of conversation is being held in Tien, though it stills to a deafening silence as the party arrives.
Shonne |
Shonne leaves the walls un-excavated (I'm as confused about why there are spaces no one can get to without breaking walls as anyone else.)
It's possible they could be oubliettes for the space above... or even spill-over living space of the ratfolk living above. Then again it might just be bad architectural design on the part of the designer or an error on the part of the cartographer. I've seen map errors made on a couple of submitted maps. Usually it is things like 10' squares becoming 5' squares, but I did have a door go missing on one of my maps once, which was particularly sad because it was animated. ;)
Shonne look out over the sea of expectant pointy-snouted faces and says "Nǐ hǎo."
EbonFist |
An older, but apparently braver ratfolk steps closer to the stairs the group is on while the others keep their distance.
"你好。 你为什么在这里? 请不要攻击我们"
Diazepane Ketal |
Diazepane will translate for those that don't speak Tien.
"We are from the Pathfinder Society, and wish to discuss a possible alliance with the ysoki of Round Mountain."
“Behind me is one of the greatest treasures to come into the Society’s hands in decades—an entire demiplane containing some of Golarion’s greatest treasures, whisked away from the Material Plane by the legendary Tian sorceress Hao Jin. It should be ours alone to explore, but the Aspis Consortium has found another way into the isolated pocket dimension, and they’ve already begun plundering the treasures within with reckless abandon for the secrets they might contain.
“A recent expedition to observe one of the Consortium’s encampments uncovered a fact we must act upon quickly. Aspis Consortium agents within the tapestry are currently, or will shortly be, meeting with a tribe of ratfolk in a place called Round Mountain in order to form some sort of alliance. These ratfolk are incredibly powerful within the tapestry, and their influence stretches far beyond the mountain itself. If the Consortium allies themselves with such a dominant organization within the tapestry, our efforts to rid the demiplane of their encroaching filth will be all that much more difficult.
“Thus, you must stop them. Get to the ratfolk stronghold—a place known as he Pagoda of the Rat in a cavern at the center of the mountain—and prevent the Consortium from negotiating an alliance with the ratfolk there. Form such an alliance yourselves if you can, but your priority is preventing official cooperation between the ratfolk and the Aspis Consortium within the Hao Jin Tapestry. Prepare yourselves for a long journey, Pathfinders, because I fear you will not be able to easily return here until your entire mission is complete. I trust you will take the necessary precautions, but if you must return early, simply step back into the extraplanar eddy that will appear behind you when you arrive.”
Shonne |
"Wǒ shì Xiào ēn" She goes around the group making introductions. "Ér zhèxiē dōu shì èr Dàn Zá, Kǎlùlǐ, Wúshēng hé Yín. Nǐ shì shéi?"
EbonFist |
Shonne finds her task a bit difficult. Most of the ratfolk find ways to scatter and hide at her approach and many of those who don't are silent or only reveal their names begrudgingly, their eyes darting around to see who else might be listening.
The ratfolk who has spoken to Diazepane continues to do so though watches them all, including Shonne closely.
"其他人来来去去楼上与不死女皇交谈。 她是做出所有这些决定的人。"
Diazepane Ketal |
"Thank you. How do we request an audience with the Undying Empress? And is she called the Undying Empress because she used to be alive, but is now undying?"
Kal'ryon |
The Ganzi smiles friend-ily at ratfolk as the others walk and talk.
EbonFist |
The ratfolk glances up the stairs then looks to their companions before reluctantly answering Diazepane's question.
如果不死女皇想见你,她会看到你。 如果她不这样做,你就不会。 她是不死的女皇,因为她已经生活了几个世纪。 她统治了我们无数代人。
Kioshi Katsu |
Kioshi looks around curiously.
He also gives the ratfolk they are speaking to the letter they received from the captain.
“Is there anyway that you can assist us? We heard that there are different alliances in your group! Is there any leader that you can introduce to us? I believe that it would be to our mutual benefit to cooperate with each other!“ he says.

Shonne looks on.
Diazepane Ketal |
"Who was the empress before the Undying Empress? Are there any who still adhere to the traditions of old?"
EbonFist |
The ratfolk look from one to another warily as words of sedition come from the strangers.
One in the crowd speaks up queriously.
在女皇之前有一位女皇?
The ratfolk speaking to you quickly snaps at the questioner.
不,你這個笨蛋!現在在她聽到之前保持安靜!
Then turns back to answer Diazepane's question.
"不朽的女皇統治了無數年。在她之前沒有傳統。"
Shonne |
Shonne looks around to see if anyone else reacts to the exchange.

Diazepane Ketal |
Just noticed this on my #3-20 boon!
Diazepane pulls out the letter from the ysoki tower captain permitting travel through the Sundered Path.
"We come in peace, as this letter states."
