Quickly dashing out of the way, de Sibelius is only bitten a little bit, small red spots quickly appearing in his legs. Fortunately none of the bites really penetrated his flesh and the slight itching was no more than his normal irritation after combing his beard.

"Ow, Ow you little blighters .... " He jumps and skips ziggzagging his way to safety, waving his hands in the air swotting imaginary bugs. Stopping he turns takes a breath and pointing to the mass of flames, pulls it once more towards the writhing mass of bugs.

In general, the answer is probably (enough so you can assume it unless I specify otherwise) - you're poking around a haunted house, after all, so I'm assuming baseline readiness is high. But specifically for this encounter, the answer is definitely - you specifically went in with your shield raised.

Laurel draws one of his many blades and slashes furiously, but to no avail.

Zoi lets out a haunting hymn, blanketing the Red swarm.

The sound doesn't bother the individual creatures much, but the effect on the swarm as a whole is significant.

Lazlo shakes the bugs off of him and moves away, drawing an evil-looking flask.

Fundin shakes off a little of the damage piercing damage from the bites and feels poison in his veins, although he doesn't look too worried. He does feel like his feet are flat, though. flat-footed, and will take Poison: 1d8 ⇒ 5 (resist 2)

de Sibelius also shakes off a little damage and strides away, leaving his flaming sphere in his place.

Laurel:
You've played with centipedes when you were young(er). Their body parts are pretty independent and severable immunities to precision, swarm mind and they're tough to smoosh and poke strong resistance to B&P, weak resistance to S. But swarms can be dispersed with splashy things weakness area & splash.

The DCs for the Fort and Reflex saves is 20.

Laurel easily squirms his way out of half of the bites, but feels some poison in his system. Failure, Success - let me know if you want to use a Hero Point, we can retcon.

Zoi lets out a horrendous squawk. I'm guessing your DC should be 18, not 8 - I think this typo showed up before so your copy-and-paste source must have the typo. :)

Lazlo lobs a bottle, which splashes all over the swarm.

Laurel slashes at the bugs around him, ineffectively, and then bolts. A searing pain creeps up his leg. Poison: 1d8 ⇒ 7 Laurel is clumsy 1 and flat-footed.

de Sibelius sustains his sphere and speaks with a devilish voice.

I don't carry battleaxe, I heard the boy and have nothing that does such damage." warhammer B, clan dagger B/p, shield spike P :( I found here a blind spot, need to get a hatchet ;). I also am staying to provide glimpses and a meat shield. With resistance vs poison and extra saves vs poison he can stay there awhile

Then the dwarf moves forwards into the swarm and picks up the dagger that Lazlo thrown. Then he slashes the creatures

Laurel slashes at the bugs, the twin blades slicing several that a single blade could not.

de Sibelius sustains the ball of fire.

Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 vs DC 19

The swarm scatters around it, taking only half damage, but the swarm is clearly on the verge of dispersing.

Lazlo throws a dagger, and Fundin slashes with his battleaxe, killing the alpha centipede and scattering the swarm.

The poison can only go up to Stage 2 (1d8 poison damage/round), and only lasts for 6 rounds total, so I'm just going to handwave the remainder of the poison checks.

I've never noticed that before. It's rather confusing they call it a basic save. That would have changed the combat, but I'm just going to note it for the future and not retcon.

de Sibelius would hope to return back to the gate area to recover, not wanting to be closer to the tree, until he has his breath back and feels confident to further examine the grounds. Probably moves the burning flames into the tree to burn the most rotten bits, then the area can be properly researched and notes made.
