Ha! Fundin is Strong Blooded Dwarf so he gets resistant to poison = 1/2 of his lvl => resistance 2? And his success vs poison counts as 2.
@Gm it is up to your decision if Fundin can use reaction before his first round, there was no one within 15 ft to use glimpse, but he would use shield block to block damage from the first hit.

In general, the answer is probably (enough so you can assume it unless I specify otherwise) - you're poking around a haunted house, after all, so I'm assuming baseline readiness is high. But specifically for this encounter, the answer is definitely - you specifically went in with your shield raised.

"Didn't you hear the weird kid, Goldenoak? You need to cut them not smash. You're a dwarf, right? Use your battleaxe."
Fundin turns towards Lazlo, opens and closes few times his mouth "Oh yes, I am a dwarf so I must carry a battleaxe right? Or if I am most eccentric maybe I carry a pick! I don't carry battleaxe, I heard the boy and have nothing that does such damage." warhammer B, clan dagger B/p, shield spike P :( I found here a blind spot, need to get a hatchet ;). I also am staying to provide glimpses and a meat shield. With resistance vs poison and extra saves vs poison he can stay there awhile
"If you won't listen, you deserve what you get, but I suppose you may prove useful later so I won't let you die, at least not yet,"
Fundin turns towards Galimus looking into the creature's eyes
"My soul is prepared, how is yours?"
When the kid is bitten, he reaches with his hand. "Feel remorse, creatures!" Reaction: Glimpse of Redemption Trigger vs first attack resistance 5 and makes the swarm enfeebled 2 for a round
Then the dwarf moves forwards into the swarm and picks up the dagger that Lazlo thrown. Then he slashes the creatures
Attack@Blue: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage, slashing: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 "Being methodical is crucial here, we need to break this swarm spirit so that they disperse. "
Move, pick up the dagger, strike.
Galimus |
"I don't know if they're prepared or not, honestly," Galimus replies to Fundin.
"If none of you are going to listen to me, I have no choice but to help you in your folly," Galimus says with a heavy sigh.
He imparts Guidance from the aether on Fundin, Laurel and Lazlo.
Actions - 3 castings of Guidance.
GM Watery Soup |
Laurel slashes at the bugs, the twin blades slicing several that a single blade could not.
de Sibelius sustains the ball of fire.
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 vs DC 19
The swarm scatters around it, taking only half damage, but the swarm is clearly on the verge of dispersing.
Lazlo throws a dagger, and Fundin slashes with his battleaxe, killing the alpha centipede and scattering the swarm.
The poison can only go up to Stage 2 (1d8 poison damage/round), and only lasts for 6 rounds total, so I'm just going to handwave the remainder of the poison checks.

Let me know how you plan to heal up. The time elapsed doesn't matter in this case, but may at other points (to speed up the game, I'll give you that information if you pinky promise not to super metagame). However, at various points in this adventure, perhaps even now, the location at which you're resting will matter, so please specify where you're resting/healing.
Zoiqoppour Royok |
Zoi motions back towards the gate. "Come here a moment in case there are more of the bugs." He waves his good wing in his direction as he begins to apply bandages to a lot of the wounds. As he does so he also releases a small bit of magic into each one to help seal them up a bit better.

GM Watery Soup |
A successful save vs flaming sphere results in zero damage, not half.
I've never noticed that before. It's rather confusing they call it a basic save. That would have changed the combat, but I'm just going to note it for the future and not retcon.
Pourrimenmots de Sibelius |
Treat Wounds (10 min) (de Sibelius) DC 15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
The dice roller doesn't like me even when someone else rolls
de Sibelius would hope to return back to the gate area to recover, not wanting to be closer to the tree, until he has his breath back and feels confident to further examine the grounds. Probably moves the burning flames into the tree to burn the most rotten bits, then the area can be properly researched and notes made.
Laurel "Desna" |
Covered in bandages from head to toe - indeed, nearly as much fabrics as the actual clothes on his back - Laurel rises from having to sit still for 10 minutes and heads straight over to Lazlo Gorog.
"Mister where'ja lern ta throw nives like thet!" bouncing with uncontained excitement as he speaks "Watch this!" he draws and hurls his own dagger at the tree Dagger Throw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 221d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d8 ⇒ 5 which sticks right in the spot the boy intended "Yeah see you an' me we shud stickit tah any them bugs an' whatnot be comin' round messin' withus" running over to the tree he grabs the jammed-in hilt with both hands, hops up to lever both feet, and pulls with his back, the motion sending his flying backwards and landing Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 with trained grace backwards-somersaulting onto the ground again.
Strolling around camp puffing his chest out and putting on his "tough" face, nodding to each and every other adult in turn like an under-sized pride lion!
Lazlo Gorog |
Lazlo takes a moment to bandage himself up.

Lazlo nods, impressed. "That's pretty good kid. You did well against those bugs. Help me look through these trees. Maybe we can figure out why they were so aggressive." Lazlo searches through the trees and examines the centipede nest.
