Ileana Moroai |

Hello there! Haven’t seen a Strange Aeons recruitment in a long while and wanted to see if I could add a NE necromancer wizard by the name of [ooc]Ileana Moroai to the mix!
In brief, she’s a human Ustalavic noblewoman who’s attempt to resurrect her departed family through science necromancy resulted in her House’s estate being destroyed by an angry mob that was none to happy about their dead relatives being used for her experiments. She’s currently on the run and looking for a way to continue her work. Unfortunately, she’s been recently sidetracked by… something…
I know that’s not much but here’s a couple characters traits and quirks to chew on.
Ileana loves learning, especially when that learning involves necromancy. Accordingly, she’s an avid reader, and enjoys tracking down grimoires that detail the techniques of the Whispering Way and other prominent necromancer orders. Given her former place in Ustalav’s gentry, she’s also quite fond of high-class gothic fashion, fine food and drinks, and has even been known to enjoy many a fancy soiree.
As a woman of science, Ileana isn’t especially fond of ignorant or “small-minded” people. Holy-than-thou Pharasmins in particular raise her hackles. The destruction of so-called forbidden or evil knowledge is also quite the bugbear for her, as is the puritanical ideologies that lead to such acts. On a lesser note, she finds people who break her train of thought to be incredibly annoying and hates when someone touches her prized spellbook or scrolls without her permission.
She tends to talk herself whenever she’s deep in thought or brainstorming. She’s also quite a stickler for calling necromancy - and arcane magic in general - a science. She’ll be quite cross with anyone who confuses her scholarly discipline to the ritualized begging that clerics must perform. Oh, and she’s an unapologetic necromancer who tends to treat her creations like a surrogate family. It’s quite creepy.
Being hunted down by Pharasmin inquisitors and burned by the stake is a big one. She’s honestly quite terrified of uncontrolled fires and is a major pyrophobe. Might have something to do with that torch-wielding mob that tried to kill her a couple years back. She’d never admit it, but she’s also ironically horrified of the possibly of her dead family coming back and harshly judging her actions.
I still need to writeup her bio and description, of course, but all her mechanics and crunch should be done and up to code when it comes to the stated Character Creation rules. It’s all on her profile.

That would be the core question was "Did I simply get missed?"
But I have never had a profile pic on the actual account, just on the aliases.

@hustonj I apologize. I did miss it in the mix of things. I am glad you said something because that Caartomancer Witch is cool. Reminds me of Gambit from the X-Men.
I must be honest. I have never done any of the harrow stuff in Pathfinder, so I will have to do some looking into that prestige class. I’m not saying no, I just need to look at it a little more. Feel free to still submit something regardless.
How black widow of you. I just wanted to make sure I knew where you were coming from.
@Vano Martoff glad to have you on board. I see that in your description you said that you are middle aged. Is that in flavor only, or using the aging rules? I look forward to digging into your character. Thanks for the submission.
@Ileana I have always wanted to play an Undead Master Necromancer. Which of the Corpse Bond form would you be leaning towards, the object or corpse companion?

Ileana Moroai |

@Ileana I have always wanted to play an Undead Master Necromancer. Which of the Corpse Bond form would you be leaning towards, the object or corpse companion?
As cool as it would be to start off with an undead companion right off the bat, its unfortunately not as powerful as I would prefer it to be. So chances are I'm going for a bonded object ring.

bigrig107 |

I think I’ve settled on my new build: a crazed elf Zon-Kuthon worshipping alchemist. Taking the Chirurgeon and Wasteland Blightbreaker. Bringing some healing and some damage (through bombs and such) together in a nice mix.
@GM: The Blightbreaker archetype is specifically from the Mana Wastes area, although it only has one ability referencing that. Is there a way I could reflavor it to some other thing? I don’t have any ideas yet, but I want the healing abilities that the archetype provides, and they do stack together, as Blightbreaker references and gives extra benefits if you’re also a Chirurgeon.

hustonj |
I don't have any of the software, so I do my character builds by hand. Slower. Much slower.
I tend to be invested in the product more, though.
Done with the easy parts of the mechanics, during which I made some choices that will help with the writing. Ustlavian Varisian with the Nightmares patron. Typical Varisian culture pretty much mandates a female character.
Long way to go, yet.

Background; Memories of a loving childhood, with an older brother who was much better but protecting. A sense of loss for his brother, and a lingering regret that won’t go away causing a grim demeanor. A drive for knowledge still lingers, that and passion for the odd and strange.
Likes: The feeling of opening a new book, learning obscure knowledge, proving others wrong with his knowledge (especially in “their” specialties), and most strangely the smell of fresh earth.
Dislikes: Destroyed books, undeath; it makes him extremely uncomfortable in a personal way. And cremation, he finds the idea to be such a wast3
Phobias: Specifically spirits and ghosts, especially the one that haunts him, and of being watched.
Quirks: He has an abject curiosity to try to learn as much as possible without heed for cost. And a morbid need to examine the dead, specifically their bones. He collects small fragments which he keeps in a small wrapped piece of parchment with information in a small pouch.
Surprise Weapon: He finds it easier to use something unexpecting as a weapon, maybe he found himself using it often as a tool and a weapon?
Methodical Mind: He is strange genius, processing things like facts for a textbook.
Haunting Regret: He is haunted by a brother he barely remembers for a reason he can’t remember. The feeling of being watched makes him think it’s his brother, who he feels regret driving him along.

@hustonj I am sorry it isn’t going to work out. I do hope you do have an opportunity to dive into a game soon with your concept!
@Mythicman19 Welcome! I personally like “Combat Gear trusty shovel” I have never seen anyone use a shovel as a weapon that cracks me up.
Also, for the Shikigami Style feat you need catch off-guard as a prerequisite.
I could be missing things in the crunch, I have done that before, just want to make sure that I am not.
We are down to the last few days. I am excited as I comb through the submissions so far and the creative juices are flowing. I believe it is going to be a fun time.

Robert Henry |

First of all Mr. Clint let me say that I am greatly enjoying Ivar's game with you. I've gotten Leialooha's crunch done, but as I've been working on her "Likes, dislikes, quirks, and phobias" the less interesting she is becoming. I'm concerned that after a period of time I will lose interest in playing her. You have several well crafted arcane casters in the recruitment, so I don't feel like I will be leaving you 'high and dry.' After much thought, I am going to remove myself from the application process.
Thank you very much for running the new game. We players appreciate it. I hope you have a good time guiding them through the 'Lovecraftian horror' :) Good luck and good gaming all.

Dr. Ethyl Ermengarde |

Question that goes along with that improvised weapon
Possibly this could be house ruled so that the style feat can be used only with the shovel.

Mythicman19 |

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons wrote:Question that goes along with that improvised weapon** spoiler omitted **
A quick clarification and explanation
Whether or not this means I can take shikegami style is up to you. It seems to make sense that it would technically work as long as I utilize a shovel or lantern. But technically I do not have the feat so it’s a bit hazy.
Also clarification for interactions in case it’s a worry. Shikigami Style and it’s feat line would not stack with feats like improvised weaponry mastery.
Let me know what you think, if it doesn’t work I’ll have to reconfigure a little bit.

Bolkvar Stonebeam |

I think that Shikigami Style and Improvised Weapon Mastery can work together in that it gives a better crit range to your weapon, but the size increase wouldn't stack.
This matters if you are to take improved critical. IWM sets the crit range at 19-20, and improved critical doubles the crit range, making it 17-20.

That’s true I wasn’t being descriptive enough in how they don’t stack.
Ah the love of strange builds in pathfinder.

Theta Omicron |

I introduce to you Theta Omicron.
Originally inspired for this theme by the "whisperers" of The Walking Dead, character creation took it into a life of its own.
I believe everything you've asked for has been put onto this profile itself- descriptions, memories, and what I hope is plenty of writing samples provided.
It is all by hand, of course, not knowing if myth-weavers etc. is accepted around here. If there are any errors feel free to let me know and I'll correct them!
Aside from the overall personality and build, isn't much that I can't get rid of depending on how you want the fugue state to be handled in your interpretation of it.

@Nercelia Damosil I had asked in the recruitment for people to put some past PBP RP examples for me to look at while choosing the cast of our adventure.
@DrEthyl & Mythicman19 oh man, how did I miss the Gravedigger… Thank you both for the shining a light on that for me.
@Mythicman19 I am torn on the Shikigami Style feet. I will allow you to take it, but it would only enhance what it says in the class ability. Shovel or lantern. It would not work with any other improvised weapons until you took Catch Off-Guard for the blanked improvised weapon usage.
@Theta Omicrom Welcome! I like the mental visual of Theta’s tattoos. Great use of the AP trait. I feel like Spark can/will gain a lot of value with this game. And the Spooked trait… that is going to be fun to RP.
@All You are making it hard to slim down the selections. Tomorrow is the deadline. Check the above list. If you submitted a character, make sure I have you in that section above. If you are still dotted/interested you still have time to get something in.
@Robert Henry I have been enjoying Ivar also! Thank you for the words of confidence and I hate to see you withdraw, but I totally understand.

bigrig107 |

I’ll be finished with mine shortly, just getting final details together. Decided on an elf Cleric of Norgorber who has had her mind wiped/altered so many times to protect so many secrets that she doesn’t even know who she is anymore, except a collector of knowledge. Except she doesn’t know what she knows, and can remember or forget things at a moment’s notice.
Will be interesting to balance the roleplay of knowing quite a lot (lots of knowledge skills) but remembering not a lot. Unfortunately won’t be too focused on healing, but still has the cleric spell list and will be capable of preparing a few cures and the like.

Giant Halfling |

oh snap... I love a good horror game, and I just now discovered this. I actually had a dark tapestry oracle (with the eldritch heritage feats for the starsoul bloodline) that I could copy and paste, but I don't want to step on Poly's toes. I'll see if I can come up with a decent idea and write it up by tomorrow.

Presenting my secret/knowledge focused cleric of Sivanah, right in the nick of time! (almost)
Decided to scrap the Norgorber angle, just wasn't feeling it.
Lysan doesn't remember much of her backstory, even before the waking up without memories part.
Dislikes: telling the truth, personal connections beyond "work", disguises being broken, awkward situations, bad weather, not remebering somthing, being reminded that she doesn't remember who she actually is.
Quirks: has a lucky coin she never lets out of her sight and fidgets with often; prefers listening in the background as opposed to speaking out openly; enjoys hiding, whether physically or more abstract things.
Phobias: the sun shining directly on her, books or letters being burned/destroyed, knowledge being lost to the ages, talking about anything relating to feelings or emotions or people's past.
I'm currently running two WotR campaigns here is one of them. Here's a small intro to another WotR campaign that we started but our GM went absent immediately upon starting.
This is a somewhat older game focused on an intrigue campaign in the nation of Taldor.
And here is a Murders Mark module that I finished with my Tengu Bloodrager.

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

Hey everyone! I am excited to dig through all of the submissions to put together a cast for Strange Aeons. On my initial scanning through the submissions I can already tell that this is not going to be an easy job to do. You've made it hard, which is a good thing! I will be taking time today/tomorrow to select the cast.
Submission Deadline: October 7th today at noon central time. 2.5 hours from now
I want to apologize to everyone and to Mythicman19. I completely missed the investigator. I am sticking to my guns and only having classes from the Core Rulebook and the Advanced Player's Guide. This was an oversight by me, but thankfully we are all in this together and you brought this to my attention.

Wulfric Stonehelm |

Well, shoot...
This is GiantHalfling's submission. I feel a little bad because I see that BigRig submitted a somewhat similar character since the last time I checked the thread, but I certainly don't have time to change it now. Sorry, BigRig.
Wulfric is all set for evaluation. He's a cleric of the Lost Prince (one of the Eldest, who are fey gods) and some of his few memories seem to possibly be of the first world? I think some of his likes/dislikes/etc can be discerned from what's in his profile but I'll make them explicit here for ease of reference.
Moments of Solitude- while not really anti-social, he appreciates opportunities to not be surrounded by the distractions of other people
Capricious- despite being gloomy in general, he is given to sudden outbursts of amusement, usually over things which seem undeserving of it
As for writing samples...
here's a game I'm running (my posts are "The Arbiter of the Tower")
and, here's the most recent page of a game I've been in for a while (my posts are "Valeria Korvin")
I'm not crazy about this image from the neck down but after a lot of searching it was the best I could find. Wulfric is actually slimmer than this and uses a shield and mace instead of 2 axes. reference image

Mr. Clint, if you like Mythicman19's concept, could you offer him a short extension to rework the character's mechanics into, say, a vivisectionist alchemist or makeshift scrapper rogue? I don't want your job to be any tougher, but I don't mind the extra competition, and it seems generous to give folks a chance to fix honest mistakes.

polyfrequencies |

I'm just going to careen in and slap this bad boy down before the deadline. I kept going back and forth on too many decisions but figured I would submit what I had for consideration!
Personality: Stubborn, self-critical, strong-willed, easily frustrated, anxious, independent, perfectionistic, wanting to prove himself
Memories: One of Erebus’ strongest memories is being thrown into a dark, bare room with his hands tied behind his back and a scratchy piece of cloth tied around his eyes. He doesn’t know who put him there or why, but he remembers feeling things crawling on him. But he also remembers what it was like to hear when he was very young. There is a song someone sang—his mother he thinks—that he will sometimes hum to himself to calm himself down. He doesn’t know how close he is to the actual tune, but he remembers holding his hand gently over a woman’s throat and feeling her throat vibrate and move up and down while she sang. He will do the same while he tries to hum, trying to associate the vibrations with the tones he thinks he remembers.
Likes: Poetry, sculpture, and paintings; mystery novels; dragon punch whiskey; a good Vudran pale ale (VPA) or Dwarven stout
Dislikes: When people talk over each other or talk at an angle that makes it hard to read their lips; horses; orcs; slavers
Quirks: Erebus apparently doesn’t sound deaf most of the time (whatever that means), or he tries not to, but this takes a lot of effort. If he is tired of trying to talk out loud and read lips, he will huffily reach for something to write with and just rely on the written word. But in better circumstances, he tries to direct the flow of conversation so that he can see everyone he is talking to so he can read their lips. He is adamant that people don’t talk over each other or transition too quickly because it makes it harder to follow along. Erebus gets easily frustrated when people don’t follow his simple instructions, but he gets even more frustrated when people treat him like he’s stupid or inadequate, so he’s usually happy to be involved and treated normally. He has an intense need to want to prove that he is capable and independent, which makes him come across stubborn and self-critical.
Phobias: Because he is deaf, Erebus relies on his eyes to stay safe. He isn’t just afraid of the dark: he is afraid of any situation where he can’t see well. Even though he can see in the dark—uncommon for a halfling—there are so many other times when you can’t see. He remembers being blindfolded with his hands ties behind his back, screaming until his throat felt raw. On the other end of things, crowds aren’t really pleasant either: it’s so easy to lose someone that you’re with, and so easy for someone to sneak up on you. Erebus is also afraid of horses, though he can’t remember why, or if there is a why.
This is the closest I have come to finding an image that fits my image of Erebus.

Also reading over yours made me realize I forgot about channel energy and spontaneous casting. Adding that in, as well as an appearance section for good measure.

That's rough but it happens all too often. I want to run WotR and would offer to pick you folks up but two games is my limit on running and it'll be a year before I can wrap one of my current games up.
I have had success recruiting for GMs in the past and it costs you almost nothing to put up a GM recruitment post, if you haven't already.

We’re looking into it, but it’s hard to get a GM that wants to run gestalt and mythic (besides myself lol). We all sort of like our characters as-is and don’t really want to un-gestalt them I guess.
I’ll probably be putting one up sooner or later for it, to see who’s interested.

bigrig107 |

@BigRig- do any of you own the AP? If someone can share it with me, I would run your gestalt group through it in exchange for one of you running a gestalt group through an AP for me... I don't want to sidetrack this thread (any further) but PM me if any of you are interested.
Sent you a message! There are a ton of the APs I’ve been interested in trying, so I might have a new recruitment thread up soon, if this all works out!
