Do we have a preferred marching order? I'm guessing Mykel and Koryo in the front and back (unknown order), but maybe we want both melees up front. Does anyone have any automatic (stonecunning style) checks that would require them to be at the front?
Sorithar will try to stay to the rear but not last if possible.

Spica is contemplating getting the following spells:
4) Shout, Remove Curse, Dimensional Anchor, Emergency Force Sphere
3) Lightning Bolt, Voluminous Vocabulary, Suggestion,
2) Levitate, Protection from Arrows, Shatter, Seducer's Eyes, Unnatural Lust
1) Expeditious Retreat, Colour Spray, Starsight, Floating Disk.
How much is that going to cost her?

When copying from another PC, you pay only the base scribing cost. That's (level^2)*10gp.
You're looking at (4*160gp) + (3*90gp) + (5*40gp) + (4*10gp), or a total of 1150 gp.

The 'campaign info' tab is what I meant by campaign page.
"Wizards Wanted Gameday X" is the text to the link. It is at the top of the page, visible from your campaigns page & my profile. :)Thanks for sharing the link Sorithar.

That's what I'd expected, but my campaign info tab just says "The Game Master has not yet created a description for this campaign." The link shows up outside of any tab for me.

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Ahh my bad. I forgot that the tab looks different for GM than it does for players.
While I set it up in that tab, it is like you said outside.
@shaventalz & about urban terrain: duly noted.

How you approach the estate is up to you, I am guessing Stealth checks at least might be in order? Please see the maps for the front of the house. It has a set of double doors at the front and some windows.
Is there any way around to the side? Perhaps going through the jungle rather than up the main path?
It's hard to tell from the map section what we're dealing with, but it seems like the front doors are a couple feet from the cliffside. I think that means we would have had to circle around the house to get here. If so, then is there anything stopping us from leaving the trail a bit further back? Does the jungle come up to the house at any point?

You already have starsight, FYI. I copied it from your spellbook.

Fair enough.
Presuming you are high level adventurers, this is the first look through the jungle of the place (just the facade). The back of the manor abuts the cliff (but not on this map) so it can not be circled. Forty to sixty feet of jungle has been cleared around the manor. But it is still possible to approach through the jungle as opposed to the main trail.
New construction/repairs blend together with old construction. If you would like to approach any of the windows, a second Stealth check will be needed.
EDIT: 10 minutes from docks to here.
Perception will be relevant when you get closer.

shaventalz |
I suspect Koryo's the stealthiest one here, but it's worth asking.
GM: Odd question, but... can an invisible character see their own items? I'm wondering about turning Koryo's Traveler's Any-Tool into a periscope and using it to keep Koryo low/unobtrusive/behind a tree/whatever. However, if Sorithar uses Invisibility on the scout...
EDIT: According to this FAQ... probably?

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Technically yes, it works.
Realistically, light passes through invisible creatures which includes their retinas. You should not be able to see anything. Or retinas catch all light from all directions & would be able to see everything, but not distinguish anything. :)

You said "most" of the people in the back-left room are chained together. Are any of them obviously overseeing the others?
What kind of weapons did the pirates in the front-right room have? Were they wearing them, or were the weapons set aside?
Are any of these windows open?
"One" of the occupants in the front-left room turned towards me. How many people are in there, or is it just the dog?

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Pirates are not armed at the moment. (Cutlesses mostly, some ranged iirc).
None of the windows open, however the three rooms in front (pirate, entryway, dogs) all have their door propped open, connecting all three rooms and the outdoors.
Just dogs in that room (with Scent) 2-6 depending on tier.

shaventalz |
Koryo's got glue paper and a glass cutter. Taking 10 on the relevant skill check would make it a DC15 Perception check to hear the glass breaking.
Factor in distance, the closed door, any distracting noise the pirate's card game is causing... we might be able to slip in through the empty bedroom. Still have a closed door to deal with, but at least we'd be coming from a direction they're not even pretending to watch. Downside is that it's a bedroom, where a properly-paranoid ex-Pathfinder would put all his alarm spells.

shaventalz |
That works, I guess.
I'm assuming a fancy-schmancy place like this counts as "urban" (and my Perception totals IC include the favored terrain bonus.)
Slide 5 Your are in B2, the pirates in B5, the dogs in B4, the slaves in B5. B1 is the main entry hall & the triangles are the doors propped open.
I assume you mean we're in b6 and the pirates are in b2?

shaventalz |
The dogs can be a bother...but if we can block them in, that'd help. I'll deal with them if I have to, would prefer not to. Can one of you cast something to keep the door shut or something?
And this kind of situation is why two of my characters are carrying around scrolls of hold portal. 25gp's not bad, and if the right situation comes up you look really prepared.

shaventalz |
Or Sorithar can just cast it from his staff and save you the expense.
Yeah, that works for just getting it out now, with no preparation. That may even be our best bet for this scenario. I'm not saying it's a bad idea at all, and it's good that someone has it.
The thing is, hold portal is both low level and doesn't really scale by caster level. That makes it a perfect scroll, especially once you're past level 5 or so and can afford a scroll collection. My wizard would consider 25gp to be a worthwhile tradeoff for being able to cast DDoor or Wall of Force as needed later on. Opportunity cost vs. gold cost. (My other character that carries the scroll is spontaneous, and doesn't have it as a spell known.)

Agreed about hold portal, though the extended duration can be useful at times.
Not sure I follow your other points though. Bought the staff because other staffs in Pathfinder would have taken much longer and more funds to purchase and thought a staff was a nice touch for a wizard (but really, this is just personal choice). Not sure how this relates to DDoor or Wall of Force, they're much higher level spells... And not available through this staff. I wish it were a staff of the magi... :/ Hold portal wouldn't be taking their place anyway?
Think we're on the same page though. Just thought I'd save you a scroll if its not needed.

I think I misunderstood you. By "cast from the staff", I thought you were talking about casting using your arcane bond. Instead, you're talking about a staff able to cast hold portal as one of its specific spells. That's definitely better than a scroll for your particular PC's use, then.
Not personally fond of staves as magic items, but if you've already got it, use it!

Oops, yes. You are in B6.

shaventalz |
So how do we want to handle this? Go after the known pirates first, or clear the rest of the place out?
When we go after the pirates, do we want to throw the door open and have someone rush in to shut the other door? If we try going to the back doors of the dog room, they'll probably start barking like crazy and alert the pirates anyway.

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Nothing of note in this room.
When you are ready, the hall is the next room.
Koryo did not see into that side of building on account of the sheer cliff it overlooks.

"Understandable, when you look at my Climb bonus. +4 is just enough to be dangerous."
Koryo starts heading back to the Gameplay thread, then pauses. "Oh, and I'm still taking 10 on Stealth in here, for a total of 21. It's not great, but it's better than nothing."

How does this map work..? There appears to be a door to B2 off the corridor outside B6, but also from the foyer, which appears to be down a flight of stairs from this level...

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Foyer (B1) is two stories tall with a glass ceiling. The stairs go up to a second level. There are not rooms above B2 or B4, but there are some over the most of the back half of the building (including where you are (B6).

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

It looks like the party is in agreement to explore the back area side of the building. This could get bogged down real quick in the format of PbP. I have labeled the doors and I want to know which ones you go to first. I need two people in agreement to move forward. & I will ask for a handful of rolls from everyone. I will use these rolls based on the order decided. Please use 'not applicable' in the appropriate space.
Please note you will have to add the closed bracket.

Any chance of closing the door to the officers' bedrooms (to keep down the noise) and having someone look over that formula book? Might be helpful to see what formulae Phlegos has available to him. Because of one of Koryo's feats, I'd be especially interested to know if he's focused on extracts that "grant temporary hit points or bonuses to AC, ability scores, attack rolls, damage rolls, or saving throws."
Also, checking the book for traps before touching it, etc.

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

How long do you want to study the formula book?
Yes it is the same pirate, no you can not tell which door he is closer to.
Same noisy as unlocking a door.
You have not checked West 1,
You have not checked East 3 or West 5 (doing so will open the door). Unlike the other rooms checked so far, you DID hear someone on the other side. I am assuming this means you are NOT testing the doors (If I assume incorrectly, please let me know.)

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Also we are nearing the end of Gameday X. We are almost finished, but will have to be responsive/decisive over the rest of the posting.

How long do you want to study the formula book?
As long as the others allow? Say 5 minutes..? How much can I discern from perusing it? Need a Spellcraft or Linguistics Check..?
