Can Sorithar dispel magic that fear effect..? Not sure if he recognized the creature who caused it…
It is a supernatural ability, so not dispel but other spells may work remove fear
Kn (planes to identify) (I keep forgetting that is a free action in PF1! ).Also: Game reported. (let's hope I did it right this time. I had a lot of errors with the last submission thingamajig.) I will start chronicles this weekend, so as to have them ready by the time we finish (we are close :)

A scroll of that may go on Koryo's to-buy list. He'd stayed away from scrolls before, because he can't cast them, but I might get him some to hand out.

"So there we were, ready to storm Phlegos' defenses" Koryo tells the other Pathfinders at the Wounded Wisp. "We head upstairs, and I kid you not, he's lying in the middle of the floor, hog-tied! And when we got back to the docks, a bunch of sea monsters had apparently beached themselves. Smooth ride back to civilization, and here we are."
He shakes his head and takes another drink. "Strangest thing I've ever seen."

These prize winning shadow mastiff puppies were obtained from a
Nidalese frigate a couple of years ago. Their howl causes fright and they blend in with shadows except in the brightest of light.
And if this were an earlier season, they'd probably be a Qadiran faction mission. Or maybe Cheliax.

Sweet, not like casting a spell. Problem is wands cast only 1st level magic missiles.
| shaventalz |
What is DC to climb pit?
The original post said Create Pit. That would presumably be Climb DC25.
Sorithar
|
Retconing previous action to move to other side of the room (moved token on map) and look into the antechamber. If he can see the pirate in there, he uses his staff, or if blind, his wand of magic missile, on that pirate.
Pit cannot be dismissed in advance :/
| shaventalz |
GM: Did Koryo see YellowPirate earlier (the one that opened the door)? I'd guess so, but don't necessarily want to assume.
Pit cannot be dismissed in advance :/
Koryo's probably going to have the same question once he stops using Hold Portal over here. His best sword is at the bottom of that pit! Sure, he haa backups, but they're not as good.
Koryo
|
"Seriously, I left for like 20 seconds. Where's Mykel, and why is there a pit in the middle of the room? How in the world did you dig something that deep so qui- magic, right. But why?"
Koryo considers the position of the pit for a moment. "Tell me you moved my sword before digging there."
| shaventalz |
About jumping the pit... a couple of questions.
If someone has a 10' running start, the Acrobatics DC to jump is only the length of the hole to be spanned (FAQ on the DC).
First, could someone get a running start if they begin in the same space as cyanDog, moving along a line that goes one square up and two square right? Not sure what the terrain is like there; there's a lot of icon cluttering the place up.
Second, if someone jumped from the square 1 up and 2 right of cyanDog, where would they end up and what would be the DC? I'd expect one of the two squares just inside the doors in B1 (not sure which door or doors are open), with DC of 8-10 (since the diagonal of a square is about 7 and a half feet, and assuming running start.)
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
DC for jumping is double without a running start. There is one square you can get a running start and only have one square to jump over. All the others would require clearing two or more squares. However I think it would be reasonable to assume one could skirt the pit, holding on to the wall & door to avoid jumping altogether. (A five-foot diagonal move going from sloped edge to sloped.edge. So long as one doesn't end there turn on the slope it.should be doable.
Also: big kudos on the placement of that pit :)

Eagle & mastiff are down. We can stay in rounds if you want, the final pirate is not coming in anytime soon, but you can pursue them if you wish. Three people builds a concensus, or two and 24 hours.
My preference is to go after the caster quickly.
Koryo's got a rope to get Mykel out of the pit. We'd want it secured, though - I'm not confident in Koryo's ability to act as an anchor. Maybe if the wizards also helped. He's also got pitons, but no hammer (which will get remedied after this scenario.) Maybe spend an action on the AnyTool for that. That would be two or three rounds until Mykel gets out, probably (pull out rope and piton, pull out and transform AnyTool, hammer in the piton.)
GM: When Koryo scouted, did he see both small doors in B4? Specifically, the one that looks like it connects through West4? And does any of the furnature in here look close enough and solid enough to anchor the rope for Mykel to climb up?

Spica resumes her search for keys.
"Look, if you locked yourself out of your carriage, I can probably help with that" Koryo offers.
Sorithar

Are we using the grappling condition or concentration rules for spellcasting while grappled..? e.g. can Sorithar cast spells with a somatic component if he succeeds on the concentration check..?
What about casting spells from scrolls..?
I assume spells with material components are only with component in hand either way...
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Yes, if the grapple beat your CMD you are grappled and need to make a concentration check to cast a spell. The DC is 23+spell level.
Grapple is different from engulfed. You can make actions that require one hand. If your scroll or a spell's material component is in a pouch on your belt, you can retrieve it. If it is in a backpack, you would not be able to.
Spica is adjacent to Sorithar and can take him with her when she uses dimension door (unless her dd is a different ability from the standard spell?). @Spica. Where do you want to go. You can see into the dining room (B4) and the top of the stairs. You can also go into any of the places you have already been including outside.
Yes the tentacles climb the stairs. I should note the template I laid down is not quite accurate. Mordack is one square away from its edge, unfortunately that means going through a wall so it isn't actually a five foot step.
@Mordikar: affected creatures are entangled and anchored until they destroy the stone around them or escape the stone with a Strength or Escape Artist check (DC 20).
Spica Capella
|
Certainly Spica will take Sorithar with her. She'll end up in the dining room. Unfortunately I can't get hold of the token to move it.
Her next move will be a Dispel Magic to get rid of the Black Tentacles.
| shaventalz |
I removed the bats (disappeared at the end of R11) and moved Mykel up the stairs (still has 15' of movement for R11).
Koryo will probably be drinking a potion on R13, but that's not happening yet.
GM: Do the doors at the top of the stairs open towards us or away? And can Mykel/Koryo hear anything obvious behind either of them?
| shaventalz |
Koryo bought a wand of Infernal Healing before coming on this mission. It doesn't really do him any good to carry around, so one of the wizards probably has it. Feel free to use it on whoever needs it.
Koryo'd love a charge from the wand himself, but it isn't immediately urgent (no longer bleeding.)
Koryo's thinking about blocking the doors so the "captain" can't come swinging in and shoot us while we slowly heal up. We also don't want anyone mission-critical to just waltz out the front door, now do we? Better that we keep everyone as contained as possible.
| shaventalz |
seriously, I need like a 20 to escape, I'll be trapped here for eternity.
Or until someone breaks out the adamantine gear and cuts around your feet. Just make sure to hold very, very still.
If someone can use my CLW wand on me that'd be appreciated...
I don't know if anyone in this group can - that's why Koryo picked up a wand of Infernal Healing before coming here.
Sorithar
|
Mykel has a R12 action, everyone has a R13 action, double check I got that right Sorithar? retcon as necessary!
Not quite the order of actions I thought was going to occur. Given this order of events, Sorithar would have cast his own black tentacles on the wall behind the pirate to try and make her stay put. He cast the lightning bolt because I thought she’d flown away the previous round… But to keep things moving, it’s all good, though he would have used the scroll of liberating command with enhance scroll on Mordack in R11 and the lighting bolt on the pirate in R12, after she’d flown away.
Also, Sorithar can use the wand of CLW with a +11 on UMD, so happy to use that on anyone who wants, Mykel willing.
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
UMD Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

missed the rolls for the clw wand in discussion...rolling the HP now...thanks man!
perfect...back at full...
I think you've only got the one tap so far. Note that this is round 13 - there simply hasn't been time for Sorithar to wand you up to full.
If there had been 10 rounds, Koryo certainly would have headed downstairs to get a tap of Infernal Healing.
Also, Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Mykel Therinor

yeah...i realized that after i came back to the thread...was in a hurry when i posted...so at 39/83 HP...and could i make it to the bad guy in one round?
| shaventalz |
If Phlegos has reach (and if Jirandiel lets him attack), Koryo's trip attempt will provoke.
Assuming 32 is sufficient to trip Phlegos.
I have not made any adjustments to my attack rolls to account for the prone status (since that's a penalty to AC).
Remember that standing from prone (usually) provokes an AoO from anyone that threatens him. The attack is taken before the target loses the prone status; this prevents chain-tripping, but also gives the target that juicy -4 AC.
Koryo
|
"Does anyone in here not have Displacement running?"
"Besides us, I mean."
21 missed prone with no Diplacement roll made, so AC of at least 26 on top of that... ick.
Koryo
|
"How delightful! You think you can attack me in my own home!" the elfs laughs. She begins dancing too. Making excellent use of her rapier against Mykel.
"Lady, I don't even know who you are."
Not sure how unsporting we feel, but coup de grace is a thing. Thanks to Sorithar's spell, the captain is now paralyzed (and thus helpless). It would provoke from Phlegos, but... As a bonus, CDG is also an automatic critical hit (panache!)

Mordack is not out of other spells, but gets very few attacks spells, the rest are utility, saving my one scoring ray and I don't have a good time to fireball yet, as I'm in tight quarters.

GM: The rules for CDG are a little iffy when it comes to reach weapons.
As a full-round action, you can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace (pronounced “coo day grahs”) to a helpless opponent. You can also use a bow or crossbow, provided you are adjacent to the target.
My question is this: can a melee weapon with reach be used at reach to deliver a CDG, or do all attempts need to be base-to-base?

Not iffy IMHO. Melee is melee and can be used for CdG. Ranged weapons can not be used, except for two weapons with a significant restriction. In answer, reach weapons need to be at reach to work (some feats may change this to adjacent as an option).

Whichever wizard has Koryo's wand, I wouldn't mind a tap of Infernal Healing for insurance. Same goes for Mykel, to get him up more quickly. That said, if you've got something better to do with your actions or don't want to get close, that's your call.
Koryo's current HP situation isn't urgent, but he's now the only melee guy standing between you guys and Phlegos (and possibly Jirandiel.) For all we know, the guy's about to chug a mutagen and Hulk out on Koryo. The handout also mentioned poison, so... yeah.
Wish I'd remembered that bit of the handout before sneaking in here. Koryo has a couple of antitoxins in his backpack.
