Mrs. Crinkle
|
I love that we have two monks and two barbarians doing archaeology. Mrs. Crinkle is endlessly amused by mismatches, so couldn't wait to sign up for this mission. A bunch of "just hit it" types doing scholarly stuff? Heehee!
Thrass
|
Oh yeah, I'm only here to be in the way and look pretty. I don't have the smarts.
Rhaegal Dragonkin
|
I've had to swap characters around, so I plan on bringing Rhaegal instead of my monk.
Kaitlyn Deathsbane

Thrass! Fancy meeting you here. any more fish to share? :)
Rhaegal Dragonkin. Well met! My associate and fellow Pathfinder Mik-Mek had some very nice things to say about you!
Mrs Crinkle! Well met. Hope we have a good adventure together.

I'm going to try to run Grehunde's Gorget in the second half of Gameday (so starting after this one on October 10th) if anyone needs another quest. Sign up here
GM Erich

Unfortunately, no. The only quests that are repeatable are The Sandstone Secret, Port Peril Pub Crawl, and Wayfinder Origins.

Will likely finish in about 2-3 weeks (with posts once a day on average).
My own PbP combat style is to try and respect initiative order in resolving actions rather than just simple posting order (unless the sequence of events would benefit significantly otherwise). I'll roll initiatives at the start and some saves (or opportunity attacks) if I think they will affect my further actions in the turn to keep things moving. If you wish to delay on purpose, let me know, don't just wait on me. I will usually only update the combat narrative when everyone who can go has gone.
Make sure you roll for your actions in the order they occur in your turn. (Requested saves first...)
Make sure you keep your tagline updated with the current value for your Saves, Perception, Initiative, and Armor Class, considering your spells cast. Treat it as your verbal response if I were to ask you what the value was in a face to face game, because that is how I'll treat it. But don't worry about conditional modifiers like cover or prone, I'll handle that stuff.
I will try to keep track of everyone's ongoing buffs in the combat tracker during combats and will also show you enemy conditions (and heights, if they are flying), so we are all on the same page. Let me know if I missed something.
Feel free to ask about anything in the discussion threads or if you think I've ruled incorrectly or just made a mistake. You likely know your character better than I will. I'll make corrections as necessary, but I think we all know there are still some rules that are up to the GM's discretion. I try to rule by RAW for PFS, and stick to written tactics unless they are obviously illogical as the combat progresses.
Also, let me know if you need to take a short break from the game for any reason.

Apologies for the character swapping. Since we have two monks already and even one as a field medic, I'm going to bring my newbie fighter instead. We can just beat the relics to death, Crinkle.

Wait, we now have only frontliners? I could've sworn I saw some people with brains in the signup sheet a month ago.
I mean, I'm not complaining, this seems like fun. :P

I swapped my druid (leveled up) and monk medic (already got some of those) out for my new fighter. But I think with the exception of Arcana and Stealth, we actually have all the skills covered. We just may be at the mercy of the dice rolls a bit more.
Mrs. Crinkle

Well, Mrs. Crinkle has 14 INT b/c she'll be multiclassing into alchemist. So she has some brains. She just chooses when to use them and when to have some fun!
We can just beat the relics to death, Crinkle.
Heehee! I'm really hoping for a comedy of errors. As long as we get full credit for the quest, of course.

Just waiting to hear back from the 6th player, but we will soldier on. Won't affect the subtier, just the challenge points for now.
GM Erich

You all have a hero point to begin the adventure. If there are any others available, feel free to distribute.
GM Erich

I think I have a new sixth player. I'll progress the game once they post. Sorry for the slight delay.

Who'd Giles replace (or was there no #6 to begin with?)

Where is the handouts link? I see it mentioned in the gameplay thread but I don't see anything in the other tabs.

Also FYI,
This will be my first PbP on a forum, so please let me know when I mess up.
I am pretty new to PF2e, but have played PF1e, multiple D&D editions, and other RPGs extensively.
Kaitlyn Deathsbane
|
No worries. We all had to start somewhere. I only started here on the forums in May. Also fairly new to PF2e -- background is AD&D2e.
GM Erich

There was a Lvl 3 sorcerer signed up but they haven't shown up and I can't contact them.
Also, I still need character info for Oranna Gro-gothal
Kaitlyn Deathsbane
|
If we're still in the marketplace, Kat would like to take this opportunity to buy a minor healing potion (since I just found out that quests no longer give consumables).
Giles Morningstar II
|
Do we do rolls (like the nature check) here or in the gameplay thread?
Like do we find out the results of the roll here before roleplaying that in the gameplay thread? or roll there, find out, and then react?
GM Erich
|
Do them in gameplay. React in gameplay too. Discussion is more for out of character discussion about tactics or questions to another player.
Kaitlyn Deathsbane
|
Thrass, I'd hate to wonder how you'd look like if Mrs Crinkle had chimed in about your appearance in the desert... :)
Giles Morningstar II
|
Kat, how do you know what the die roll will be before you submit your post? Or are you editing your post after you submit it and see the roll results?
Thrass
|
You can press Preview and it shows the die results. Paizo will remember dice rolls for 24 hours, so you can't cheat by reloading the page and trying again.

Thanks, that makes a lot more sense now. Then if you get a great roll you can probably assume you made it, but if you get a mediocre/average roll you might not be sure.
That helps me figure how to roleplay the outcome, thanks for the explanation

Kat, how do you know what the die roll will be before you submit your post? Or are you editing your post after you submit it and see the roll results?
You can do both, but using preview is easier.
A word of warning though -- if you add another dice expression above another, it will reroll everything below the new one.
[dice expression 1]
[dice expression 2]
[dice expression 3]
[dice expression 1]
[dice expression 4] -- this is the new one.
[dice expression 2]
[dice expression 3]
dice expression 4 will be rolled but 2 & 3 will be rerolled. Found out the hard way when I did it in a scenario. Changed my hits to misses...

Because we can potentially see the results of our rolls before we submit them for the world to see, that is why I am picky about doing your rolls in logical order based on the actions you take during a turn, including rolling requested saves first. I do the same when my monsters are attacking and that's the reason I like to resolve initiative in the proper order when more than one of you can act in a given round.
Let's just say, I've seen some things...
Giles Morningstar II

It is in the GM's header where it says "Archaeology in Aspenthar". It will take you to a google slides document.

Thrass wrote:Giles, I don't want to alpha-game you, but if you do a Work Together, you Eidolon can do one more thing.I don't mind the help or advice at all. I'm still new to PF2e and the summoner. I can't find the rule on a "work together" action though. I think the Eidolon might be a different case since technically we have "Act Together" that says we share our actions. Although it is worded strangely. I'm going to keep looking into it, another action for him would be awesome. Thanks for your advice.
Ah yes, sorry, it's Act Together, forgot the exact name.
Act Together
Single Action to Three Actions
Frequency once per round
You and your eidolon act as one. Either you or your eidolon takes an action or activity using the same number of actions as Act Together, and the other takes a single action. For example, if you spent 2 actions to Act Together, you could cast burning hands (2 actions) and your eidolon could Strike (1 action), or your eidolon could use its Breath Weapon (2 actions) and you could Stride (1 action).
Basically, you can say "This is my Act Together action," and the other can do a single action for free. At least, that's how I see it. It basically means you have four actions per turn, I think.
Giles Morningstar II
|
That ability is worded weirdly and it's still confusing me. It starts off sounding like we share three actions split between them, but then it says the other one gets a single action no matter what, but *then* the examples it gives in the description as show a 2/1 split.
It seems like it makes sense that one party would get a minimum of one action, but I'm not sure.
I put in some posts in some PF2e rules forums and we'll see

@thrass
I think you're right. I think my confusion was thinking that act together was just the way you both were able to act and share actions, but it's really just its own action.
I should be using act together just about every turn
@GM Erich
I realized a mistake on my character sheet. I should have 2 first level spells in my spell repertoire, but I only have 1. I don't want to add it in the middle of combat, but would it be okay to add one after? I'm planning on "Magic Weapon".
Kaitlyn Deathsbane
|
Thrass, are you joining us for Gerhunde's Gorget? I'd love to see how you dress for the icy north ;)
Thrass
|
I'm sorry, but I've already played it. :(
I might adopt Mrs. Crinkle's look for that. :P
Kaitlyn Deathsbane
|
From the GM side, this quest looks pretty straightforward to run... I might just run it in the future...
GM Erich
|
@Giles you can have Magic Weapon available now, no need to wait. Also, yes do take advantage of the Act Together ability next time...
@Kaitlyn This battle is a little harsh for 1st levels (Golem immunities and +14 to hit!) but it is a quick little run. Also, I stole your action symbols, they are a great idea.
Kaitlyn Deathsbane
|
I stole the action symbols from someone else so no worries. :)
