Melissa and Strek pop the lock on the drawer, exposing the valuable contents. Guess? quickly secrets them away in the team stash, before Del eyes her sister's belongings. Anybody want the Cylindrical Lens pistol? It's pretty sweet!

Torren's circuits begin to dim their light and their voice goes back to the typical android emotionlessness. "Alright, I'll come with you. But I'm calling the Plate security team after we get out of here." They take the first aid kit and syringe from Melissa, listening intently. You barely hear their voice as you turn towards the hallway. "I don't know how to use this." They shake the kit gently. Urged on by your arguments and the sweet sounds of Android Abolitionist, the android lines up behind you. Torren makes eye contact with Akh and Jaraduk and nods grimly. "First we escape. Then a new life. For all of us." Using the datapad you unlock the door ahead.

A simple hallway greets you, white walls and metal floors without decoration. All of the surfaces are completely spotless. You head right at the first intersection, your large (hehehe) group taking up a lot of space. Jaraduk opens the first door, practically spilling in. Just as shown in the video camera feed, it is an empty training room. This gathering space must have been used for training vids and staff briefings and contains many chairs facing a large screen and podium.

When you investigate the podium you find a vid player loaded with several informational programs. One of these, narrated by Exec-4 Reisora, is a brief summary of Project Oliphaunt and the potential for widespread null-space technology. In the vid, Reisora explains that Project Oliphaunt was originally sponsored by followers of the Prophecies of Kalistrade seeking a way to protect the golden commerce barges, which are manufactured on the orbital plate, from pirates. “But the best way to avoid piracy,” she says, “is to never attract the attention of pirates in the first place. Project Oliphaunt puts all the cargo of a bulk cruiser into a small, fast, unobtrusive transport. To pirates, the Oliphaunt is just another starship among countless others. But that’s only how we began this project; now that we’ve made a breakthrough, we’ve set our sights much, much higher.” There’s no additional information about Project Oliphaunt on any of the other vids.

Jaraduk opens the next door on that end of the hallway. It opens up onto a long, narrow room that contains a large metal table and eight rolling leather chairs. In one corner, a small bar counter containing a variety of liquid dispensers sits ready for occupants. Much to your delight, the dispensable liquids include several exotic and alcoholic beverages. To those more strategically minded, you notice another door that opens up onto the far hallway.

Alright... Any thoughts on those rooms? Where to next?

Akh squirms as Melissa taps the ticklish parts of his coils. A low creaking noise slips from his open maw as he tries to stay quiet enough that the other guards don't immediately raise the alarm.

He only glances at the informational vid about the hologram before scooping up a class of pink lemonade and stashing the whole thing inside his mouth. "Jaraduk, no time for relaxing. We have to slip out of here before they find us, knock us out, and string us up on the exterior of the Plate's hull. Or worse, force us to sit through another EJ corporate safety training video."

He quietly cracks the northwestern door open and peeks out to see if the guard roomba is armed.

Torren, the android security guard looks at Melissa with wide eyes. "The voice, that was Monitor 77B. I know us androids get a bad rap for our misunderstanding of the typical emotional spectrum but... anacites are something else." They shake their arms, hands loose. "A cruel boss, they use their chameleon circuit to spy on us at any time. You never know when they're watching." Torren slowly swivels their head, eyes squinting. "Monitor could be here right now... but then we'd be dead." They smile grimly. "I think I remember most things from before, though its fuzzy. The administrator is a tough boss, even worse than Exec-4 Reisora."

At the north end of the room, Akh pops open the door. He sees the circular anacite vacuum cleaner's low form slowly traveling along the floor. It seems to wander around randomly, turning at different angles when encountering a wall. The front of the anacite holds a pair of spinning brushes that vacuum up dry dirt and the back has a mopping function. Akh is confident it is not armed. Want to continue in that direction, towards Room 1? Or backwards towards Room 2, 3, or 4?

Guess? also dispenses a glass, clinks his with Jaraduk's and downs it.

If the alcohol in the room is of higher quality than the rum in his canteen, Guess? will drink as much of his rum as he can without getting sick, offers the rest to others and if there are no takers, Guess? dumps his rum down the drain.

"Wait I thought Miss Reisora was Exec 3?"

Ah, you caught me! You're totally right.

Torren the android looks down uncomfortable. "Well, to be honest, she asked us to start calling her Exec-4; she was that confident in an upcoming promotion. Probably related to the Oliphaunt, I suppose." The ex-security guard seems relieved by Melissa's sniffer, muttering about Monitor 77B.

Over at the beverage dispenser, Guess? is quite impressed by the selection. The note attached to the alcohol spigot Triaxian gin, Executive staff only only entices the goblin more. It's a Superior Intoxicant, like what you have. But it's probably more rare.

You head to the next room, the small vacuum ignoring you on the other end of the hallway. Between Strek's hopping, Guess?'s soon-to-be-stumbling, and Melissa scurrying between the feet of the larger team members you make quite the sight. Jaraduk slides the door open to reveal a small desk sits in the middle of this medium-sized room. On the wall behind it is a large painting depicting a typical EJ cargo ship entering the Drift. The desk itself is tidy, with a single photo depicting a happy couple at the beach. According to the nameplate on the door, the office is used by the lead scientist on Project Oliphaunt. A quick search of the desk reveals an obsidian ring of resistance mk 1 with the inscription “Always & Forever.” Who wants it? Pretty good at this level. Maybe roll off for it?

You move into the next room, noticing that the anacite vacuum has finished cleaning whatever mess was taking up it's attention. It has now started slowly moving it's way in your direction. Thankfully it works slowly, you probably have a full minute before it makes it to the opening where the hallways join. Jaraduk opens the next door. This large room holds several tables and chairs, vending machines, a cold water dispenser, and various cooking devices. A classic corporate break room, the cabinets store cups, powdered drinks, and sugars, as well as mundane cleaning supplies. You find a mk 2 culinary synthesizer and a self-heating pot on the counter. A quick search reveals 2 ultra-capacity batteries in a drawer. Do you want to do a longer, more in depth search? of the room or move on?

You look at the security cameras through Melissa's datapad. The anacite vacuums continue their work while the pair of android security guards are still standing at their posts in the hallway right outside the door of the room you are in. Locations on the map are correct.

Happy to carry it.

Akh notices how Strek is eyeing the new autochef and nods knowingly "To graduate from slightly lukewarm porridge will be a comfort. Perhaps they'll let us take him with us into prison when Plate security or EJ's enforcers catch up with us. That would be nice." He hefts the synthesizer up and tosses it into his mouth. "Fingers crossed for no large cavity searches."

I'm good with just a quick search - not sure if we're on a timer here, but I'm inclined to squeeze out the north side and take out our remaining two guards before they come investigating.

I've added the ring of resistance, the culinary synthesizer and the self-heating pot to the loot list - I assume someone has bulk available for the pot. Our not-yet-stolen ship already has a better-stocked galley than our old ship!

As for the ring, I'd propose Akh takes it since he's our tank. Or secondarily, Del because two of her saves are at zero.

Guess? says to the party, "The way I see it, we've got four options:

"One, Torren radios in a security incident in another room, causing the guards to go to that room, allowing us to slip by.

"Two, Melissa hacks the robots to act funny and try to draw the guards away, allowing us to slip by.

"Three, we approach them and I try to convince them, as Eline, that you are all special consultants and they are to let us pass. In fact, the nature of our visit is critical to the point where we've got Torren here escorting us so one of them needs to take Torren's post for the remainder of the current shift. If they buy it, we walk right in.

"Four, we go in guns blazing but we try to incapacitate, not deactivate. Then remove their restraining bolts."

Any preferences? With option 1, I'd guess that Torren isn't in a frame of mind where he can bluff very well. With option 4, I suppose it would be a last resort and will happen anyways if we try other options and they fail. So I'd vote for either 2 or 3 and see how it plays out.

I love Akh the Eeyore.

Melissa leaves a trail of crumbs for the space-roomba but it doesn't seem to notice. Instead, the anacite vacuum continues on a random path back and forth across the hallway. It must be on some sort of deep-cleaning routine, it is thoroughly cleaning every millimeter of floor. Then again, you don't get shining white floors and walls in an industrial facility without a deep clean. I wonder how they clean the walls? At Guess?'s suggestion of Torren bluffing the security guards, they pales. "Uh... Living under honesty protocols for so long.. I don't know about that. Then again, I suppose android's aren't known for their emotional intelligence." The ex-guard shrugs.

Melissa and Strek consider reprogramming the vacuum, but toss that idea quickly. Anacites tend to act robotically in their actions but are typically sentient constructs. If it is possible to "hack" the little roomba, it isn't within your capability. Or morals? Maybe?

Perception Rolls:

Jaraduk: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Guess?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

You think back through what Torren said to Monitor 77B over the coms when you entered. These security guards will be on alert, that's for sure.

Looking at Guess?'s ideas...Option 1 will be close to a roll off, since the three androids have the same social stats. Option 2 won't be possible. Option 3 will be a Hostile Bluff check. But 1, 3, and 4 are definitely possible. Thoughts?

Ohhh! Security is already on alert. Gotcha. Alrighty, welp in the interest of moving things forward, I'm going to go with a modified version of option 3. Then if it fails, the rest of the crew can come rushing to Guess?'s rescue with option 4!

"Oh right! Those guys are already on alert. Okay, so then there's plan three-B! Listen in on comms and get ready to act. You'll know when!"

Guess? waits for the green vacuum to enter the other room, then exits south, goes to the central corridor, checks to ensure his comms line is open for the rest of the crew, mumbles to himself, "here goes nuthin' - hope this disguise holds" and then runs north to the two security androids, pretending to be in distress and out of breath.

Frantically, Guess? points south and exclaims, "My office!! Intruders!! In my office hacking into my terminal! GO! NOOOOW!!!!"

I've moved the green robot token into the conference room. Then I marked a path that Guess? will take to approach the security guards. I've also re-arranged everyone else's token within their current room in case they need to bust into the corridor to rescue Guess?.

Torren the security guard shrugs. "Anacites are an odd bunch. Evolved and adapted for their tasks. The cleaners don't seem to be putting much energy towards their processors if you know what I mean." The android smirks a little. "Didn't hear from them much, we needed a special receiver to translate their shortwaves. Not that they had much to say. Mostly whining about dirt."

Love the arrows, 10/10. Very artistic. :)

The anacite roomba slowly moves down the hallway. After about five minutes, it makes it's way to the line of fried potato chips that Melissa has set out. It pauses for a few seconds, then seems to switch subroutines. The little maintenance bot stops it's random pathing and chases down each crumb, all the way into the conference room. Once the chips are gone, it returns to random pathing and seemingly does not notice you closing the door on it.

The security guards jump into action, racing down the hallway. You overhear one mentioning to the other as they head away, "They didn't mention that Reisora was replaced by a new executive. Typical EJ." The second guard huffs, "Dressed funny for a goblin." The first responds, though you barely pick up his response as he gets down the hall. "I'm going to have to report you for that. You know EJ's Discrimination policy."

Ok... Congrats, you pulled it off! What do you do, though? You have remote control of the doors and locks. From what you can see, and Torren would confirm, the security guards don't have walkie talkies. So you could lock them up in the office, though Akh seems to have other plans... :) I drew their route on a map in case anyone wants to ambush them midway.

-----

*I'm learning so many new things during this campaign. You can't Disguise yourself as a specific person. So Guess? looks like a human woman who could possibly be confused for Eline Reisora.

**I always second-guess myself when adjudicating Bluff. I want to be fair, allow for Player agency, but not make it OP. I think this is fair... +10 for Hostile (they're on alert) and +5 to the one who pierced the disguise (stealing from Pathfinder 1's Bluff rules: The lie is unlikely.) I could see the argument being made for a +10 instead of a +5 (PF1: The lie is far-fetched) but the android would have failed that too. And a second +10 feels pretty brutal.

"Ready to head north to the ship? Or do we shoot these androids in the back in the name of liberating them? Torren seemed pretty easy to take down once we got the jump on him... errrr.. no offense, Torren."

Guess? is okay either way. Happy to keep moving north or turn south to ambush the two androids and remove their restraining bolts. It seems Akh wants to do the later?

Akh whispers "We should pick them up. No one should be a slave to EJ unless they want to." He ducks through a door opening and leap-flies down the corridor toward the two, taclash out.

So, #1 option would be bottling them up in the hallway at the red X by having half the group come from the north and half from the south. However, if its too late for that, the second best would be to let them get trapped in the office, so neither can run away. Either way, here's a stealth check to try to get the drop on them.

And don't forget that sweet sweet loot! It's not too late to do the ambush at the X!

The group coordinates, ready to leap out at the androids no matter what happens. Guess?'s coms stay open and you hear when his bluffing wins over the guards. As the androids run towards the executive office, discussing the dos and don'ts of acceptable office attire, you take your moment! Surprise round! Everyone gets it, but most of your are within the break room. Someone, probably Melissa, should spend a Move action to open the doors remotely. Then everyone else can run out during the Surprise round. Akh and Del will be Squeezing (Entangled) the whole fight, don't forget the many negatives that come with that. Actually... with those Stealth rolls Akh and Jaraduk can get a head start down those hallways. Just don't go into the vertical hallway.

Initiative Rolls:

Foes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Del: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Strek: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

As you spring the trap, both security guards catch on quickly. They spin on their heels, pistols raised to send numbing energy beams into the chests of the frontliners who presumably ran out to ambush them.

He's thinking if it weren't for these walls squeezing me in, that other swing would have hit!
