Thanks Merixia. I could had sworn I did that.
Glad to hear that computer is doing better Azira.

Glad to hear your computer troubles have been fixed, Azira.

Thesius, I think you might actually be at full, between your own cure spell and Merixia's channel.
More money is never a bad thing! So, should I make an entry in the treasure sheet for a 2000 gp reward? And also, should we assume the Tower of Estrod loot is ours to sell at normal prices (half for non-trade-goods, full for art/trade goods like fine china)? Depending on the answers to these, I could calculate a split for the new treasure by the end of today, so people can know how much they have to work with if they want to buy something. I don't want to slow us down, though, so let's not feel we have to wait on everyone to declare exactly what they're buying.

Elliot, the Red Heron |

Sure, that sounds good!
Do we have a handy haversack or bag of holding yet? Always a nice thing to have, and saves Meri a lot of carrying.

Thesius Monteblanc |

Long day yesterday. I'll get up a post later today.
Muleback cords would be another option depending on what is available. They do conflict with the cloak of resistance slot, but Thesius does not actually have one of those yet.

Yes to both of those. Keep in mind the Defender's Heart purchase rules: 100 gp or less is here, anything from 101-2500 has a 75% chance of being available to buy.
I believe that you don't have a bag of holding, but Merixia might've gotten a handy haversack.

Worldwound GM |

Unless someone's planning on buying something that will drastically alter the gamestate, I'm planning on moving us forwards later today.

Thesius Monteblanc |

So with rule of two, I believe we will continue if someone agrees with Thesius. If not, then the third person will make the deciding choice. Is that correct?
Currently, I'm looking to pick up a darkwood buckler if possible to help finish removing his armor check penalty.
Darkwood Buckler - 75% chance (High is Good): 1d100 ⇒ 95
So Thesius will need to substract:
200.5 = 203-2.5 (Cost minus sold buckler)
Sheet has been updated otherwise.

Merixia |

No, I decided against the handy haversack. I have no idea what I want, I hadn't anticipated stopping to trade right away. It makes sense, don't get me wrong, I just hadn't bothered to make a shopping list.

Verene Tanaquil |

Here is the sale list. I assumed the presumably poisoned holy symbols of Iomedae were silver and could be sold to someone who could just wash them off or something, at the same rate as the other silver holy symbols of Iomedae. I don't know how much we can sell the sword-swinging marilith from Topaz Solutions for, so its value is not yet included although I did assume we sold it. As the only person who regularly uses a crossbow, I would generally rather have Verene using cold iron bolts than the +1 ones, and also the time of regularly using the crossbow is ending, so I put those on the sale list too.
Sale/Split List:
- marilith toy, ?? gp
- silver holy symbols of Iomedae x5, 62.5 gp
- dagger x2, 1 gp
- glaive x2, 8 gp
- masterwork chain shirt x2, 250 gp
- morningstar x1, 4 gp
- heavy crossbow x1, 25 gp
- +1 crossbow bolts x12, 240 gp
- brazen head, 3250 gp
- silver holy symbols of Iomedae x5, 62.5 gp
- masterwork scimitar x2, 315 gp
- masterwork longsword x1, 157.5 gp
- fine housewares, 450 gp
- coin hoard, 331 gp
- cultist exploration reward, 2000 gp
_________________________________________________
Total sold today (before marilith toy): 7156.5 gp.
Per-person total: 1431.3 gp.
When we figure out what the marilith toy could be sold for, just divide that by 5 and add it to your total. :)

1st-level spells
stone shield, 40% low good: 1d100 ⇒ 92 Not tagged with a race like windy escape so hopefully it's not considered rare. If it's not, a stone shield scroll should also just be available I think?
burning disarm, 40% low good: 1d100 ⇒ 70

anticipate peril, 40% low good: 1d100 ⇒ 13

feather fall, 40% low good: 1d100 ⇒ 72
pearl of power level 1, 75% low good: 1d100 ⇒ 74
minor bag of holding, 75% low good[/url: 1d100 ⇒ 22 Just because we didn't check this one earlier.
Okay, wow. That's more of the second-level spells available for copying than I was expecting: merge with familiar, make whole, spider climb, detect thoughts, and suppress charms and compulsions are all available to copy. The first-level spell results changed somehow between the preview and the post though the second-level ones didn't, so now instead of stone shield, vanish, feather fall copyable, it's heightened awareness, anticipate peril, vanish. Same number are available, and the pearl of power and minor bag of holding have the same results, so I don't really mind. Scroll-only spells would be burst of radiance and the other first-level spells. Given that, relatively few of these should be bought as scrolls: maybe just burst of radiance and some first-level ones for now.
So, given the availability rolls above and from earlier, while we're here I'd like Verene to pick up the following:
- Scrolls of burst of radiance, burning disarm, stone shield, feather fall, mudball, and web bolt (275 gp total)
- merchant's pomander (12 gp, +2 resistance bonus to Fortitude saves against nausea or sicken effects for all creatures within 10 feet)
- holy water x1 (25 gp)
- tindertwig x1 (1 gp)
- pearl of power level 1
I think the party could benefit from:
- another 50 feet of silk rope, since the first 50 feet is now cut up into separate pieces (10 gp; the first one can probably be repaired with multiple casts of mending, but each cast of that takes 10 minutes. Easier to just buy another for now)
- manacles with a simple lock x3 (105 gp total, only if we think we might find more cultists at Nyserian Manor, which seems very possible)
- bag of powder x2 (2 cp, as a last-ditch invisible creature defense)
- fuel pellets x10 (3 sp for 10, they weigh next to nothing, could set them on fire and throw or drop them as a delivery mechanism for Merixia's pyrotechnics)
The Verene-specific stuff will be 1312 gp, so I'll subtract that from her money.

Thesius Monteblanc |

I would be down for putting money towards an item that can help with our ability to carry items.
I could get muleback cords since Thesius does not have a cloak currently. We could also look into a handy haversack, heavyload belt, and/or bag of holding. The last three options would need others to put in towards as well though.

Verene Tanaquil |

We know that the handy haversack and minor bag of holding are available and that the regular bag of holding type I isn't. Everyone, including Thesius, is going to want a cloak of resistance eventually, I think, so the muleback cords will quickly become obsolete. I would rather wait and get a proper bag of holding type I, but if you really want us to have the handy baversack, Thesius, I'll go in on it. Verene still has enough money to contribute a fifth of the cost, and it will stay useful, for sure.
I'm not saying we should do this, but it would be pretty funny to put the muleback cords on Merixia because as far as I can tell they stack with ant haul and the masterwork backpack. Hey Merixia, want your light load to be 798 pounds or less? :)

Merixia |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Hahaha, that would be hilarious! Like something out of an anime. XD
I think I'm going to pass on shopping for now in the interest of expediency. Who knows, maybe after Nyserian Manor Merixia will have enough credit with the Abadarans for magic armor! Ooh, or mithril armor.

Thesius Monteblanc |

In regards to the fight, I don't want to force you to run fights you don't think will be much more than a time sync. I'm also okay with you giving some highlights/effects and moving forward.
In regards to shopping, while I think a Handy Haversack would be more useful than Muleback Cords. The cords are what he could potentially buy on his own.
If others are willing to put towards a handy haversack, Thesius could invest about 1,250 gold towards it. It would give easy access and perhaps some extra protection to the scrolls Verene is buying as well.

Verene Tanaquil |

Same here, GM. I don't want to make you run fights you're not enthusiastic about and won't really challenge us, so I think that was a good call, to fiat the fight away.
Thesius, Verene does have a scroll box in which she keeps the scrolls she's not expecting to need at a moment's notice. She can put 400 gp toward the handy haversack.

Thesius Monteblanc |

If not, he may just hold off for now and plan to invest into something more when they get back. Maybe getting his armor enchanted as well.
Are the Abadaran priests will to hold onto their gold while they are out? Figure it makes more sense not to weight themselves with gold.

Worldwound GM |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Sure! They'll even offer a decent rate of interest at 2 coppers per gold per year you let them hold onto it! (I jest, they're probably fairer than that, but it's not really relevant, in the grand scale of things.)
I do apologize for the anticlimax, though - I think the AP expected people to go investigate before finding a stable base of operations? I'm not sure. This is the closest one to where you come out of the tunnels, so I imagine that's why it's destroyed.

Thesius Monteblanc |

No worries. Thesius is also fine with going to Sibylla's. I'll check back in later to get up a post based on where we are at that point.

Thesius Monteblanc |

Sorry for no post yesterday. Work has been hectic and draining. I'll have one up later today.

Merixia |

Same, I had a busy day yesterday. Hopefully today's post makes up for it!

Worldwound GM |

Busy days, busy lives. No worries guys. I am also sorry for my own lack of a post... assuming I didn't make one. I don't think I did, but if I did, it should tell you how out of it I am that I don't remember it.

Elliot, the Red Heron |

Dropping a note, I am very busy today and tomorrow with work and divorce related topics, and as such I won't be able to post until monday. Please bot Elliot as needed, and have a nice weekend everyone.

Worldwound GM |

You too, Elliot.
Unfortunately, due to my own scatterbrained-ness, I won't be able to get a post up sufficient for moving us forwards in the direction I want tonight. That does mean that it'll have to wait until tomorrow night or Sunday. Apologies.

Thesius Monteblanc |

No worries. Life comes first. I hope things go as well as they can for both of you and have a great weekend.

Verene Tanaquil |

Yep, no worries guys. Take care of yourselves.

Verene Tanaquil |

Ah, looking at the geographic map again, I may have misunderstood our choices. If we're the white circle, and "south then east through the gash in the walls" means we can follow the flattened-looking line directly below us to the east, through the wall between New Kenabres and the Gate District, then turn north and proceed through the relatively less destroyed Gate District, that looks like the most direct and easy route. So that is what she would support. It may not even involve skill checks.
If we go north instead, it looks like that will involve crossing at least the dark/black area (I think these are supposed to be deep ravines/crevasses?) directly above us before we get to a flattened line through the walls to follow. That could mean more strenuous climbing, and while we do have one use of the levitate scale left today, we also have an NPC to worry about now, and Verene is fatigued.

Worldwound GM |

That is correct, Verene. Sorry that wasn't clearer.

Verene Tanaquil |

Okay, then the south option, not the north option, is what Verene supports. Are we waiting on anything?

Thesius Monteblanc |

I'll have a post up today. Just got back from house/dog sitting for my brother and his fiance.

Azira Tal-Shirin |

Sorry I haven’t posted in a couple days, crazy weekend. I’ll post something tonight (but don’t wait for me if you’re ready to move forward).

Verene Tanaquil |

So, I think that's a no on pursuit of the dretch, right? Three people out of five prefer not to, and one is undecided with the information we (players) have but is likely also a no.

Worldwound GM |

Good point. I'll move us forwards in a few hours - got some stuff to do before then.

Verene Tanaquil |

Ah, so when we saw it, the dretch was more like 20 total feet away from us than 100'. If it starts out that close to us, I think my vote would be to pursue, actually. But 3/5 leaning no is still a majority, so the issue is moot.

Merixia |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Yeah, that was totally a trap. You never see just one dretch. Where there's one, there's more, and quite possibly more powerful demons using them as bait or cannon fodder.

Worldwound GM |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Well, if it was, you avoided it! And it is important to remember that dretches do have ranged telepathy with Abyssal-speakers, whereas things like quasits don't.

Elliot, the Red Heron |

It seems the site ate my post when it went into emergency maintenance? earlier :(
In it, I was wondering, does Elliot's spellbook or his bag contain a journal of sorts, telling him anything about himself he doesn't remember, or at least the address of his parents/family? I can't remember if this came up before, or if Verene would know instead.

Verene Tanaquil |

@Thesius: sorry if I made an unclear post yesterday. I meant to convey that Verene's mild symptoms of hypothermia begin improving as soon as they enter the warm building and are getting better the longer she stays by the fire; she's just unhappy for other reasons. I'm not sure if healing magic would help with the nonlethal damage due to cold, as the rules on exposure to cold environments say, "a character cannot recover from the damage dealt by a cold environment until she gets out of the cold and warms up again." What that means exactly would be up to you, GM. But my understanding is she will be healed of the nonlethal damage and thus the fatigue after an hour indoors anyway, since nonlethal damage recovers at a rate of 1 hit point per character level per hour. So: very kind of you, but Thesius should save his spell.
@Elliot, that hasn't come up before to my knowledge. Since Verene hasn't met his family (right?), I was assuming she had not visited their home. However, it might be reasonable for Elliot's spellbook to contain an address to take the book back to if it is ever found by someone? This seems like something you would have leeway to decide as the player. In fact, I am deciding as of this moment that Verene's spellbook does include her full name and home address on the inside front cover. :)
P.S. Verene will definitely try to learn ether step someday, if she is fortunate enough to live that long.

Thesius Monteblanc |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

If necessary, he can use the spell. If not, I don't know that it will be a great loss. I have the feeling they may be remaining there for the night.

Worldwound GM |

Another 1000 gp from the crusaders for looking in on the manor.

Verene Tanaquil |

I will add the 1000 gp to the treasure list a bit later and immediately split it out, so everyone just gets an additional 200 gp.

*I'm happy to keep preparing detect magic so that between Verene and Thesius we are basically assured of IDing magic items with no trouble, especially now that we're assuming we take 10 on those routine Spellcraft checks. However, with that taken care of, Elliot, would you maybe want to swap out prestidigitation (overlaps with Thesius) and detect magic (overlaps with both, and also it seems to be more of a chore for you to keep it up for exploration or roll the related Spellcraft checks, which there will still be some of) for mage hand and ghost sound? They will only rarely come up, but it would be very nice to have them in our back pocket — I wished we had had each of them once in the last in-game adventuring day.

Elliot, the Red Heron |

Level 4 magus
+1 BAB, +1 fort, +1 will
+1 dex (no effect yet)
+8 hp (FCB: HP)
+8 SP (appraise, history, perception, UMD, spellcraft, religion, planes, dungeoneering +1).
+2 level 2 spell slots: Learns glitterdust, Cat's grace.
Spell loadout for the next day:
Level 0: Read magic, mage hand, ghost sound, brand.
Level 1: Frostbite x 2, Chill touch x 1, Colour Spray x 1.
Level 2: Cat's grace x 1, Glitterdust x 1.
Shopping:
Elliot seemingly has 1890 gp at present. He'd like to buy a +1 mithril chain shirt for 2150 and a caster level 4 chill touch scroll for 100 g, but he'd be 360 gp short. Is there someone willing to lend him this money prior to the assault or whichever part we will play? If not, no problem, I'll buy a level 1 pearl of power instead and see whichever other consumables are available.
availability, low is good, mithril chain shirt: 1d100 ⇒ 5
CL 4 chill touch scroll: 1d100 ⇒ 56

Verene Tanaquil |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ah, I found a mistake I made from a while ago. Last time we distributed loot and bought items, I rolled for the pearl of power availability and got a success, without remembering Merixia had already done so here and it was unavailable. It has not come up in play, so I'm just going to delete it from Verene's sheet and refund her 1000 gp.
Elliot, Verene can spot you the extra money. She will need some cash for copying spells, but probably won't have big expenses between now and the next mission.

Azira Tal-Shirin |

Hurray for level 4!
+6 hp
+1 BAB
+1 fort and will
+1 Cha (which adds to each save also)
+1 to each skill I already have
Channel energy (for 2 LoH)
A bunch of swashbuckler deeds, especially
- precise strike (+level precision damage)
- opportune parry and riposte (try to parry attack as AoO)
- swashbuckler’s initiative (+2 initiative, when >0 panache)
I’ll try to get my profile updated tomorrow.

Verene Tanaquil |

Are we moving on to the following day as in that is when Irabeth will be able to talk to us?

Elliot, the Red Heron |

Thanks Verene! I'll update his profile somewhere tonight.

Verene Tanaquil |

I un-did Verene having the pearl of power and added 200 for the final cultist hideout, so her gold total after this split should now be 1735.7 gp. Subtracting 360 gp from that leaves her with 1375.7 gp, and you are good to go, Elliot. Anyone else who is short for something they want to buy should feel free to assume she contributes it, up to a total of about 1000 - she might need to reserve a couple of hundred in cash for spell copying costs, but certainly should not need more than 375.

Merixia |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Hurray, level 4! Only one more level before I can cast Shield of Wings, aka the most badass way to fly short of riding a dragon.
I'll try to get my leveling up math done tonight. Definitely putting my stat point in Wis for a sweet 18 though.
With the 200 gp we just got, Merixia should have 1650.3 gp worth of credit to spend, since I didn't buy anything after the Tower of Estrod. What I'm going to buy, I have no idea.
