Also, I wanted to share this: the COVID-19 infection rate here in the Netherlands is going crazy, with every part of the healthcare sector being affected by both it and the regulations put in place to prevent it. Thanks for remembering the masterwork dagger, Merixia! Verene is fine with the cloak going to Elliot, especially if he might be on the front lines more often starting soon? Or we can toss a coin (roll 1d2) for it, as the two party members with the worst saves. Up to you, Elliot!

Also, GM - I just realized I could scribe a scroll of mage armor and have more slots for tomorrow. I think it takes two hours and costs 12.5 gp (in reagents? Could just subtract this from the value of the writing-new-spells-in-spellbooks ingredients we already bought?) So I'd like to do that, if it's okay, and however that affects the number of total spells she can copy is fine.

Depends on how many you have. The copying takes 1 hour per spell, so I think you still have enough hours in the day to copy them all. I'm not sure about writing the scroll, but I think you probably can do that, too.

Two hours is the standard, I think, to scribe a scroll whose base price is less than 250 gp. So, if the copying takes 1 hour per spell, then let's say the spells I named in my post are now in her spellbook, and a scroll of mage armor at caster level 2 is created. The process consumes the scrolls of bear's endurance and resist energy, I believe, and will also consume 10 + 10 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 25 (245/250) gp worth of the spell copying stuff we bought from Seer Opoli. I thought that copying spells into a spellbook just cost 10 gp/spell level, but it turns out it's a little more complicated than that according to this table from the Core rulebook. A 1st-level spell costs 10 gp, but a 2nd-level spell costs 40.

I did discover that if wizards fail to transcribe a spell from a scroll, the scroll doesn't get used up. I forgot that, because witches do use the scroll up whether or not they succeed. The more you learn!

I feel like weapons are probably the most useful thing to give to the forgotten children, both because they'll use them and because weapons are a bit bulky and unpleasant. Things like jewelry or the holy symbols, by contrast, won't be worth much of anything to them... well, maybe one or two, to help rally the other tribes.

Hm... That's a good question. I think in this case, I'll allow you to have prepared the new spells, but only because you haven't had any encounters today. If you'd left before dealing with the dretches and exited after defeating them, I'd say you wouldn't get them or the additional daily spells (for Elyda & Thesius).

* I'm going to continue to lean on our many other magic users with cantrips for various light spells / prestidigitation / detect magic and good Spellcraft rolls for most magic item identification and utility, and continue preparing other cantrips that we don't have multiply covered. However, I really wished yesterday that I'd prepped daze, as Elliot did, instead of detect poison, which is kind of useless when you still have to make a pretty high-DC Wisdom check to ID the poison. Even though daze doesn't work on non-humanoids, we fought plenty of humans and I expect we'll continue to do so. I also wished every single first-level spell I had had was color spray, so Verene is going to be living that early save-or-die, hope-the-enemies-roll-badly-so-they-don't-just-kill-you-next-turn life for a while. She also has that 1st-level school slot that can only usefully be filled with identify, so she can take on any hard items if our other casters happen to not be able to ID them.

I was rather pleased with Elliot's dream-ish thing, because structurally it went backwards from one perspective and forwards from the other, until they met in the middle. More or less.

It was definitely a cool sequence, thanks for a great post! :) I also liked that there was a light and dark perspective for a sword partly named 'Eclipse'.

I was toying around a bit with Elliot muttering some things before passing out, but since it said he lost consciousness instantly I went with this setup instead.

Yes, well, it is a black blade aligned with Sarenrae, so I felt eclipse was the appropriate term. I also got to foreshadow some things, so that was nice!

I think it worked well, all things told. Say, you haven't decided where Elliot lived in Kenabres, have you? If not, don't. I have a bit of a plan, you see.

Oh! That reminds me. I've updated the geographic maps to show Ruined Kenabres next to its whole counterpart, so you can see where you are in the city with the blue dot.

I was not able to get caught up on all the happenings today, so I will be getting a post up tomorrow. I have the basic idea of what I will be doing level wise. All skills will be open to Thesius with the Improvisation feat and will get boosted to a minimum of +6 on the roll (+2 Reflexive Improvisation, +2 Improvisation, and +2 stat).
