Apologies about the silence lately.
I way over-scheduled myself this semester -- ah, the foolishness of taking a grad school class, teaching an undergrad class, working a full-time job, and still being dad/husband/human.
My convention travel is done (Gen Con followed by a regional con; they were both awesome and delightful), so I'm digging my way out of my hole and getting into some kind of rhythm.
I'll post more regularly soon, I promise. For now, thanks for your patience with me!

Moisture collector will be great. Also, you guys can rest if you would like--certainly a 10-minute rest, possibly a long rest. There is enough time still today for one, possibly two, missions--then you can crash at Aibretta's safely for a long rest (or, as I said, rest now if you're in poor shape).
I think we're just looking for one or two more players to agree on the first mission, then I will make a post starting things off.

Chiaiese |

Chiaiese needs a long rest before starting any mission. Completely out of spells. The Cemetery mission sounds relatively easy as we just took out two patrols larger than that one. I would also favor the two missions that may be less-combat oriented, the Storehouse and Administrator's House. Chiaiese has the spell Disguise Self, and a voice modulator, so she should be able to impersonate a colonist or even an Azlanti soldier.

GM Quirk |

I have not heard from Anton. I'm a little concerned. We'll give him another 24 hours to respond. He hasn't posted for about a month now.
Meanwhile, if you all could kindly respond in game play with a plan for the ambush I would appreciate it. Please remember to move your token where you would like it and make a stealth check (which I will modify depending on your hiding spot. I wouldn't worry too much about this--it will be foggy). In game time you have plenty of time to set this up.
I have placed Anton and his drone somewhat further back behind the cover of headstones. I'll bot them for this encounter.

Thanks for your patience. I'll try hard to keep the Thak's posts on time.
My hair is only on fire until mid-December...

GM Quirk |

I am playing in a Dawn of Flame PBP game here on the Paizo boards that could really use one more player. We just finished book 2, and one player needed to bail. The GM is looking for one replacement.
HERE is the recruitment thread.
This is a great game with some excellent players. I play a Telia mechanic who has become a reluctant warrior.

GM Quirk |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I believe I am going to have Anton and Viv return to Aibretta's. He'll work on repairing Viv there. I'll have him be an NPC through the rest of this adventure. Should the player return, he can swing back into action. Otherwise, he'll still be there to assist you behind the scenes.
We'll start on the administrator's house tomorrow night.

If Anton goes back to the ship by himself, he'll eat all of the cookies again. Just sayin'...
(I'm fine with sending him wherever so he's handy if the player returns.)

Housekeeping notes:
1. First, I'm interested in knowing where the four of you would like to head next. I updated slide 2, marking off the two tasks you have completed. Checking in with Aibretta would be idea as well.
2. There are currently four of you. Are we okay with this? Should I open up recruiting again? This is a fairly balanced party, though having a mechanic again would be great. Interested in your opinions. I feel sorry for Chiaiese and Yoro. You two have put lots of energy into this game and the Absalom Station game, and we had some disappointments with a few players bailing.
Right now the two other games I am GMing are doing well, though one of them had a player I was worried about. He finally did post again yesterday.
I do feel good about the four players we have here. Neap, you'll be leveling soon (probably before you assault the garrison). That will put you on par with the other three.

Chiaiese |

I think we're well balanced, and the Azlanti seem like a challenge but not impossible. Having said that, as soon as Chiaiese runs out of spells she's not very helpful in combat. If you want to open it up to recruitment I have no concerns.

![]() |

I'll second Chiaiese. We're pretty well balanced, but I'm open to recruitment. A mechanic would definitely round out the team.

GM Quirk |

I did start a recruitment thread HERE.
I think there is a demand for spots in an AP, so I indicated I would be interested in adding two additional characters here and one in my Junker's Delight game. I was chosen to play in another AP recently, and there were lots of great character ideas who didn't get a chance to play.
Meanwhile, the four of you may want to post here in discussion about your next task you would like to accomplish.
I might recommend checking in with Aibretta as well.

Chiaiese |

AT the very least we have some weapons we can drop off with Aibretta. I vote for that. It's probably lunch time in-game.

Yoromishtali |

I think Duncan would be a good addition to the game. Not only because of the character, but also the player is excellent. I play Ivris-mu in the game he's coming from.
Going to Aibretta is a good idea.
Also thank you Chiaiese for putting your spells in the bar so I can see how many you have for the day.

GM Quirk |

I am going to PM Duncan and see if he wants to jump right in. It would be perfect for Aibretta to introduce him at this point. Hopefully he'll be agreeable to this.
I may also simply offer the second spot to the other player who has posted a character. I believe this person is newer to Starfinder. I think it's appropriate to find spots for players like this so we can continue to build some community here.
More news tomorrow.

Duncan Sangster |

GM Quirk has invited me to join this campaign. I am grateful for the opportunity, and I look forward to making new RPG friends. I designed Duncan precisely for this AP. I was not happy with the GM of the campaign he started in and was thinking about maybe offering to GM the Aeon Throne AP, just to get a chance to play more Starfinder, but then I saw the recruitment for this campaign.
As it happens, the point I left the other campaign is pretty much exactly where I'll be picking up in this campaign. I know some spoilers for the next few situations, so I'll be taking cues from what the other players do until we get to dealing with the garrison. Duncan will fight as necessary and can make engineering rolls if invited to do so.
I couldn't find a good image of a pahtra in the Paizo avatar collection, so I used a catfolk image instead. I use the Paizo Chrome extension for PBP, which allows me to substitute my preferred picture when I view posts. If you use the extension, you can replace Duncan's default image with the following.
The larger picture I took this from is here: Large Image
I am currently working during the day M-TH, so my posting will come in the afternoon, evening, or early morning (EDT).
Edit: If anyone has a preferred image to share to use with the Paizo Chrome extension, please share it with me. I have a couple of Brenneri images from another game I'll be happy to share. Otters are a personal favorite of mine.

Chiaiese |

You speak Azlanti - that should come in handy. Welcome to the group!

Duncan Sangster |

Thank you.
According to the source material on the Azlanti, there have been no formal face to face interactions between members of the Pact Worlds or the Vesk worlds and the Azlanti. So I suspect that learning the language might be a little like learning ancient Latin or Greek. No doubt documents have been found in the Azlanti tongue and perhaps some old pre-gap books have come to light with some indications of pronunciation. Or magic spells may have given scholars a way to decode the language and learn it themselves.
Duncan is smart enough and curious enough that he chose to learn the language when he had access to someone who could teach it. I expect he speaks in such a horrible accent that any Azlanti who hears him speak could tell he is not a native speaker and he might even have trouble making himself understood. So I'm okay with having to make some kind of roll should a conversation happen to understand and/or be understood.
Does the GM have a suggestion as to what language in our world is similar to Azlanti for use in dialogue? When speaking a different language, I usually write what I want to say into a translation program like Google Translation, and translate it into another language for printing. I'm thinking Azlanti might be like some Eastern European language.

Welcome to the game, Duncan! I'd love to see the alternate Brenneri art you have. Thanks for the otter -- er, offer. :)

Duncan Sangster |

Duncan Sangster |

Duncan welcome! I play Ivris-mu in the other game. I'm glad you could join us.
I was going to pm you to see if you were aware of the recruitment. Nice timing, eh wot?

![]() |

I love her! We're in the middle of that AP in a local online group. Having SO MUCH FUN in it!!!

GM Quirk |

What are bottlecaps used for?
I'm glad you asked!
You can spend a bottlecap to re-roll any d20 roll. A to hit roll. A skill check. A saving throw.
I will attempt to give at least one or two a week for interesting ideas (even if they don't work) or excellent role playing. I might even give one for a timely crit, though obviously nobody has control if or when that happens.

Yoromishtali |

Concerning their Androids & Aliens podcast, I hope they put together a new group. Some of the original cast, some new people. Maybe a year from now. Non-AP adventure. If not...there are some other good Starfinder podcasts available.

GM Quirk |

I'm sort of waiting for Thak to post. He might recall something that was discovered at Madelon's abode that is currently relevant...I just rattled his cage. He's a busy grad student who also works full-time.
...and I just heard from him. He should be along soon to tie together that bit of story.

Thanks for your patience, everyone.
I only have to make it for another month, then the semester is done! (And then one more semester and my MS computer science is done, too!!)

![]() |

Just in time for Thanksgiving. Hello everyone! I am the now to Starfinder person GM mentioned, and I'll be playing Sevens the android mechanic hiding somewhere in the colony.
Holiday season has made things a little busy so my sheets very incomplete (and a copypaste) but they'll be ready to go. Looking forward to learning Starfinder and gaming with everyone!

Duncan Sangster |

Sorry I haven't posted these past few days. My teaching job had a lot of things that couldn't wait. I'll post something on Thanksgiving, as my wife and I are staying home with no one coming to visit. Hope everyone has a good holiday.

![]() |

Welcome, Sevens! It's great to have you with us.
And a very happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!

Yoromishtali |

Sevens, I used that avatar for an android in another game of Against the Aeon Throne, within the past few months with Duncan. When I saw that familiar face, I actually thought I was back in that game for a moment and somebody had posted something as Ivris-mu. It's a good choice for an android :)
