Level up complete. Technomancer lvl 2, chose Energize Spell class ability. Also went with the Lightning Reflexes feat and added ranks to class skills that were previously 0 as well as bumping Computers, Medicine, and Mysticism. Gained the spells Dancing Lights and Grease.
Me'mori |
Getting the free(er) time to experiment with their skills, Neap is finally going to set their Gear forms. Unsurprisingly, it is a hunting rifle and longsword for lack of available options, and a sense of simplicity. Complexity comes later. The Equipment kits get added as well, so now there is an Engineering, Medical, and Computer kit available to them at all times.
...1k credits, though? I'm blanking.

Going to be a bit behind with my shopping list, so far I've picked MagBoots but still have a little bit left over and don't know what is useful yet. Also, is ammunition interchangeable between weapons? As in laser weapons all use the same ammo, cryo weapons all use the same ammo ect.
Duncan Sangster |
Each weapon entry has a listing called "capacity" which indicates whether the weapon uses rounds (bullets) or charges (from a battery). This entry also says how many rounds or charges the weapon holds when fully loaded. The listing also gives the number of charges that get used with each attack (usage entry).
Rounds come in several types: small arms, long arms/sniper, and heavy.
So if you get a laser weapon, it will have a battery and with 20 charges and it will use 1 charge each time it is fired. A cryo weapon also generally has a battery and uses charges as fired. So you could transfer a battery from a laser to a cryo weapon in a pinch. Best have a few standard batteries as backup. If you have a semi-auto pistol and a hunting rifle, however, you will need to buy small arms rounds for the pistol and longarm rounds for the rifle.
GM Quirk |
I might add that you must use the type of battery indicated in the entry. For instance, an Azimuth laser pistol has a capacity of 20 charges, which matches a standard battery. You couldn't sub in a high capacity battery.
If I had a second level character with 1,000 credits I'd be looking at something like Freebooter armor I, an arc pistol, or maybe a ring of resistance mk. I. All of those are around 750 credits each. That might leave enough for a serum of healing, maybe a dose of antitoxin, or perhaps Ion tape with a zipstick.
'Lucky' Sevens |
I actually like the freebooter armor, so thank you GM!
My list -
Freebooter Armor - 750
2xMK1 Nanite PAtch - 100
2xStandard Battery - 120
Personal Comms Unit - 7
Tool Kit - 20
Total comes to 997 credits and I'll update my sheet ASAP.
Yoromishtali |
Here are the items Yoromishtali is getting before leaving. The total comes to 825 credits.
Cable Line, Titanium Alloy 150' (2 lines of 75' each) 65 cr
Basic Medkit (2) 200 cr
Survival Knife 95 cr
Concussion Grenade Mk 2 (2) 460cr
3 Flashlights 3 cr
2 Lanterns 2 cr

I seem to remember the tougher Aeon Soldiers carried semi-auto pistols. Thak may not need to purchase one, unless the colony has dibs on the pistols and only wants to sell them to PCs.
I think I asked this before, but if so, I missed the answer: Does the colony or our ship have a recharging station for topping off battery charges?

Yes, Thak could definitely find a semi-auto pistol among the found gear. Go ahead and add those credits back to your sheet, or choose something else.
And yes, let's assume that there is a way to recharge batteries within the colony. Everyone may assume that any batteries they possess are now fully charged.

Thanks for the tip, Duncan -- and thanks for the retcon, GM Q!
Thak will bank the credits for now. He's good with what he has.

@GM Q - Can I level up Cubber?
I'm not exactly sure how to mix the creature companion leveling rules with the trained squox stats, but I'll happily take a stab at it and see how you feel about the results.
Given our story thus far, I figure that Cubber would already be level 2 at this point and ready to go on to 3.

I've had some problems at work that will be requiring my attention for the rest of the day. I'll post as needed starting Wednesday.
'Bot me if necessary until then.
Thak Poorida |
With rolls like that, Thak is in serious danger of losing his "Stone Cold Killer" status.
In fact, I'm pretty sure he lost it a couple of rounds ago.

Hey everyone.
Wanted to apologize for being absent, got really really sick and it kicked my butt. Recovered enough to at least read and catch up on things, and sorry I didn't say anything sooner.

Looking ahead to next turn, I have a question about the Operative Trick Attack action and the Guarded Step move action.
Trick Attack text: As a full action, you can move up to your speed. Whether or not you moved, you can then make an attack ...
Guarded Step text: You can carefully step 5 feet as a move action. This movement doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity, even if you’re in a threatened square.
Can the movement of the trick attack full action include a guarded step to avoid the AOO? Or if Duncan wants to avoid the AOO, must he take the guarded step move action and then a normal attack (not a trick attack)?
Since the guarded step does not take up any more time than standard movement, I'd think it could be part of a Trick Attack, but I'm biased in this situation.

My opinion is that you should NOT get a trick attack following a guarded step.
I know you're trying to mitigate a potential AoO, and I don't blame you. The fact is, there are exploits you can choose which mitigate AoO's. Also plenty of feats (like mobility).
These are some tough senior Azlanti cadets. Not all of them will be armed this way. This is simply one advantage this group of guards have, and it makes for a more interesting challenge for all of you.

The next three days are going to busy with a variety of tasks that will interrupt my usual posting times. I'm getting a new computer and remodeling the room where I keep the computer. In addition to my school duties, I have a dentists appointment Thursday. I'll try to post sometime in the next few days, but it will not likely be every day.
'Bot me if necessary. Duncan will likely use trick attack on the soldier in front of him with his sword cane.

Howdy gang!
I would like everyone to know that I will be away at a game convention in the midwest U.S. this weekend (CinCity Con in Cincinnati, Ohio).
Our good buddy Thak will also be there. We might eat some GOETTA, a Cincinnati specialty.
I plan for this weekend to be a very analog experience. I'll be rolling REAL dice and I'll have an actual paper character sheet in front of me!
In other words, this analog experience precludes much posting here.
I do hope to get in one more good round of posting either tonight or tomorrow.
After that, it may be next Monday.
Thak Poorida |
CinCityCon is one of our family's favorite conventions!
And yes... goetta is definitely on the agenda. :D
Thak Poorida |
You're more than welcome!
And yes, goetta is a thing in Cincy... and so is Goettafest!! (And one of these years, I'm going to be there for it.)

My posting has been delayed by the start of a new term. Now that I'm past the first two classes, things should settle down. I'll be posting regularly again with the possible exceptions of Tuesday and Thursday, when my teaching duties will be compressed from 4 days a week to two. But I don't have a lot of grading to do for these classes, so posting time should expand.
I grew up in central Indiana, so I have some familiarity with Cincinnati. Went to a few ball games at the old Riverfront stadium when I was a kid. I visited a friend living in the area back in 1990. The main thing I remember about the city lore was that concrete models of geese were a common yard ornament, like gnomes in some areas.
Thak Poorida |
I'm from Columbus, Indiana, about 40 miles south of Indy on US31 / I-65.
For years, "Cincinnati" meant "going to Kings Island during one very long day and hoping that dad didn't fall asleep while driving us home." Then I moved there after my undergrad, got married there, and officially escaped Indiana for a few years.
But then Indiana sucked us back in... now we're in the northeast corner of the state. :(

I'm always amused when I hear the old song with the refrain, Indiana wants me. Lord, I can't go back there. I grew up in Anderson, a few counties NE of Indy. Went to school at Purdue. I have relatives in Fort Wayne and other friends scattered about the state.
Indiana was a good place to grow up. Not a lot of flashy attractions, but good schools and a climate that was an even mix of seasons, with beautiful spring and autumn seasons (for a few weeks at least). Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, but nothing too extreme. It's too conservative now, IMHO.

MUCH. TOO. CONSERVATIVE.
SO VERY MUCH.But yeah, the weather isn't bad, cost of living is stupid low, and we're close to a lot of big cities.
My son and I had a glimmer of hope last week when we saw "The Book of Mormon" at the Embassy Theater here in Fort Wayne. We knew the show's music and story (watched a bad recording of the Broadway version on YouTube), so we were making bets about how many people would walk out. The audience completely surprised me. Very, very few left, and the show got huge ovations throughout -- topped with a standing ovation at the end.
It gave us hope that there might be generational change in the works, combined with an influx of young workers. Maybe, just maybe...

But really, if a conservative audience can only participate in conservative entertainment then we would be pretty bored. Surprise, conservatives have a sense of humor. The only people I expect would be offended by The Book of Mormon are, well, Mormons. Now enough politics. I'm here to get away from that shit.

Bleh.
Sorry for being quiet, spent the last week trying to get my internet back after my ISP decided I was somebody else who hadn't paid their bills (similar last name) and just...yeah. Clerical errors sucks.
Please NPC if needed and I'll attempt to have a post in once I make sure my little hiccup hasn't affected autopay and a few other things.
