I slotted Rashid in at the front, because he's got a pretty good AC (well--when he has his shield raised anyway, but Defend is his default Exploration activity), but if somebody else wants to get tanky and go first I'm happy to be second instead.

Just kinda stuck Pooka in the middle for the moment; her Exploration activity will depend somewhat on what everyone else is doing.

Added Rangi image to the bunch. Given that all front seats were taken I put him to the back.

Rangi is an old Orc, in his youth he was a warrior in his clan, but due to various turns, he ended up beating a druid. He is very much a front line and due to medium-high CON and good dex/str his AC is 18 (20 with shield) and he has 22 HP. Now before lvl 3 the fact that he is a Wild druid does not mean much ;) So he will be using a wooden shield and club/fangs for fighting.

Now we also have a second Warpriest that is of LVL 2 with I 19 AC and 26 HP.

But we can't all be upfront :D I am fine with Rangi starting at the back and covering the case when we are ambushed

If I saw it correctly we have no Crafting in the team => any damage to the shield will stay till the end of the scenario ;)

Well that AC is significantly higher than mine, Rangi. If you want to swap that's fine by me! I just took front because 18's not terrible and he uses the Defend activity in exploration so he has the shield raised right off the bat, but you have an 18 normally! Feel free to switch us if you'd prefer to do so, happy to be wherever.

Hi! New party member (and new Pathfinder player) here. DM Deevor helped me put my PC together (I started out on the 2-03 team) and I just registered her as my official PFS character. I'll get her info there filled out using bbcode, and in the meantime her character sheet can be found here.

Newbie question: is there a way to follow a campaign so I get some kind of notification when someone posts? Or do you just check manually? Thanks!

If you bookmark your Campaigns tab of your main profile, it will show all the games you have posted in (provided you've posted in that game's Gameplay tab; it won't show notifications until you do). Any game you're in will be listed there. If you're using Chrome, you can also pick up the Paizo Campaign Tools browser extension. It makes the "New Posts" notification show up a little clearer on your Campaigns page.

As to like, receiving email notifications or anything like that, I don't believe there's an option for it, as far as I'm aware. I just make sure to check my Campaigns page a few times a day.

There is also a rss/atom feed for the gameplay (top right corner). However, most people do not use them (I don't know about Gnomes ;)). But in theory, Chrome has extensions to get notified by rss, and there are other apps for that as well.

@Rashid - I think we have plenty of front lines (including the polar bear), so let us try first fight like this. The druids wooden shield is giving the same AC bonus but it is really bad for blocking hits (low broken threshold)

Fair enough. Whoever wants to move up to front position, go for it. I do request to be in slot 2 or 3 though, just so Rashid is close to the frontline. Makes it easier to get into melee and to be in range of everyone for healing. :)

Before we start I'll just let you know how I like to play some things.

Secret Rolls
As you know there are some rolls that are done in secret by the GM, e.g. Recall Knowledge rolls. So when this occurs, I will ask if you want to make a Recall Knowledge roll, then if you want to make the roll, make the roll in a spoiler. Looking into the spoiler of secret rolls is cheating and more especially it will make the game less fun for you.

For example I will ask, You can Recall Knowledge Society about the custom of this tribe of elves.,

Type something like this(excluding the dots):

[.spoiler=Recall Knowledge Society]
Society [.dice]1d20+5[/dice]
[/spoiler]

If you want me to do your secret roll I will do it for you.

Skill Checks

Sometimes the scenario will prescribe a specific skill check as part of the scenario. As you know, most of the time you can make the skill check roll when untrained, but sometimes you might have an ingenious solution that you think could be used instead of the skill check asked for. I like it when you come up with ingenious and creative solutions to a problem and it adds to the story narrative, then you can use another skill check. However, in this case you will have to explain and describe how you use the skill to substitute for the given check. If you do not provide these details, using the substitute skill check will critically fail.

So I ask for an athletics climb check to get up the rocky cliff. You ask to use acrobatics and describe:
Jumping like a mountain goat from each rocky outcrop on the cliff, your feet are able to grip on the grassy tufts growing there to spring up the cliff. I'd like more narrative but it's just an silly example.

However if all you say is can I use acrobatics to jump up the cliff, or worse [/ooc]I use acrobatics[/ooc] you will automatically critically fail the check.

GM Screen
Easy this, keep out.

GM Rolls for NPCs and other creatures
When I make rolls in combat, saves etc, I will make the roll in the open, but will not include the creatures modifier, so if my undead skeleton attacks with his claw you will see Strike Claw 1 1d20 ⇒ 3, Strike Claw 21d20 - 5 ⇒ (18) - 5 = 13.
Assuming you have an AC of 19, you would get damage, as the skeleton has a strike modifier of +7. The damage will be rolled behind the GM screen and you will be given the result.

One more tip for the ones that are new: If you find yourself making errors when doing dice rolls (syntax errors). Then when doing a secret roll you can just make a roll of a dice different than d20, preview the post and have a look into your spoilers to see that everything is correct.

Recall Knowledge, Society: 1d21 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

And then change it to d20. At least you are certain that the roll was made correctly. Any change of dice size results in a different roll, so it will be still a secret

And as I saw that I did not follow my regular saying hello ;)

Nice to meet you Rangi! I think you are right. In fact I don't think I've played with any of you before, but that's not entirely surprising. I have played relatively little PFS2 or SFS. Honestly I didn't really play a lot of PFS1 before switching to PFS2 so I am still getting comfortable with organized play. I'm no stranger to PbP though so hopefully I don't end up bumbling about too much. :)

It is a small world. Hopper is a character who is playing now with Tonraq other PC Oscre. He is also my first PC whom I played with our GM. He actually died during the race in the Linnorm Kings land. And Deevor in his other game did his funeral. Fortunately, after Paizo introduced boons paid by ACP I brought him back.

You guys seem like a friendly and welcoming bunch; I'm glad I landed here for my first PFS game.

Sorry for Webny’s silence there for a bit; I had an unexpected family emergency, which turned out okay (blessedly), and I’m back and ready to roll.

Apologies for posting delays; Tuesday & Wednesday proved busier than expected. As a note, I'll be heading out of town today for a convention and won't be back until Monday afternoon. I won't make any guarantees about posting but I will say that I'll have my Chromebook with me and probably won't completely fill my schedule up with games, soooo...we'll see!

Just a note, you can all read the tucked note ....

In game, when you study an area (Gate, Watchtower, Wall), all 6 of you will be studying the area. The areas were split into groups of 2 players (who do an initial look), so that the party can decide which areas you want to investigate, map, study etc.

I just think doing it this way speeds up some of the skill check parts of the adventure.

Anyone able to point me to the description of antidote? I’m flipping through the core rules and my search-fu is weak today.

You should read the spoilers for each area, some require athletics, acrobatics and society rolls. Which are easier than perception. I'd hoped you would tell each other what you found out and encourage you all to read everyone's posts as they provide vital clues. And the spoilers did encourage you to tell you companions the details.

Only 1 PC needs to succeed for all to pass that obstacle, so if you have to climb, only 1 success and you all climb, same for other skills. As sneaking a look at your character skills I notice you have a better chance with some of these skills than perception.

So if you have the skills and you already rolled perception, then you can use the requisite skills and read the spoilers for other character pairs.

And remember you don't have to be trained to use those skills to roll for them, GM says you must be trained (or the book).

Also remember the Rule of Cool

@GM - the next week I will have a spontaneous vacation. I am not certain if I will be able to post on daily basis, I should, but I can't say for certain.

@GM Will do! I was worried that it had taken me too long to post and that I had missed the opportunity to make the athletics roll to climb the tower.

@Webny - a great part about PBP is that it is almost never too late ;) Very frequently you can make a post and GM make decide to include it or not. Sometimes it causes some redoing but PBP tries to facilitate time-zone difference and plenty of other unexpected things.

And If I may, if you have time try to think about how your PC approach given test. Is she nervous around others? Does she trust co-agents to help them? Is she trying to show off her physical fitness? etc.

PBP way of playing allows you to make an epic description of even the most mundane activity. Not even saying about climbing a hard path ;)
