Yan Tovis
Yan nods and moes to the double doors. I think we were at the single door at the end of the hallway, so the double doors next. Or vi ce versa if needed.
Pirate GM
Peeking through the double doors to the west reveals the large arena that you previously viewed. Dried blood from past combats forms a crust over the sand spread across this arena’s stone floor. Torches illuminate the floor in bright light but hardly reach the walkway ringing the arena high above. Two staircases lead up to this walkway, but a metal portcullis blocks each one. A huge bronze gong hangs over the close balcony.
The gargantuan sized Shanrigol with its horrible fleshy purple goo and bones remains motionless and seemingly in the same position you saw it before. There is another exit on the far side of the arena as well
Scarred One
"I can see the door to the other side, but I don't think I want to be fighting this thing just yet"
Says the Scarred One
"Mabe let's check the other door."
Place next to water?
Yan Tovis
Yan nods and heads to the place next to the water/ Any recall knowledge on the creature while we're here though?
Oorgatch

Oorgatch follows Yan and the Scarred One, mumbling to himself. "Don't steal, Oorgatch. It isn't honorable. Don't break and enter, that's an evil thing. Don't be a thief, Oorgatch..."
Pirate GM
"Is it alive?"
Well no, but yes. Shanrigol's are undead so it's not alive, but that stuff shouldn't naturally exist. You suspect poking or otherwise disturbing it is likely a bad idea unless you're ready to fight something dangerous
Fleshwarpers, regardless of their origin or training, create a shocking amount of waste. When the discarded remnants of aberrant flesh are heaped together with an accidental mixture of alchemical compounds or odious energy, the mass can quicken and regain life. Without the guidance of a fleshwarper, these aberrant body parts form into a shanrigol, a mess of bone, muscle, and sinew.
Back up the wide hallway into the arena and up the iron ladders to the north once again takes you to the secret door to the balcony that overlooks what must be the far southern end of the hydra pool.
Oorgatch
"If we do, do we have the fire or acid to deal with it?"
Scarred One
"I can cast a fireball today, but did not prepare any acid spell no. " 1 lvl 3 fireball + produce flame. I forgot about acid splash (or what was that name). And I think we still have some bombs, which Scarred One is able to throw.
He moves onto the bridge and looks around.
Perception +14 to search
Pirate GM
My fault on missing description. Transparent stone separates the walkway here from the pool below.
To the north the hydra probably sleeps in the pool again, the water is too murky too be sure though. To the south the cave is completely flooded and continues around the corner to the southwest. Your walkway is about 10 feet above the water.
It's easy enough to find the button in the masonry to open the secret door you just came through on this side.
Scarred One
How about the door opposite the stairs nr. 2
"I think that we can check the door over there. Our not-a-thief can practice his pick-locking skills. He is getting surprisingly good at it, I wonder how did he learn it"
Pirate GM
Opening the door reveals an oversized closet, cluttered full of haphazardly stacked tools, scraps of wood, and furniture. There's magic here, and it'll take some time to search.
With nothing pressing and nearly 40 minutes spent you feel certain there's nothing more of value here.
Valuables:
emerald grasshopper

iron cube

Scarred One
Scarred One looks at the stairs down The stairs 1 and 2 are going down right? If so I would suggest we go that wide corridor from the place where Yan have fallen on his face.
"I think there was a corridor before we fought those hydras"
Yan Tovis
Sounds good. Also what are these tings? Did we look at those? Seem like cages in the water, further away from the hydra lair.
Oorgatch
"Let's just go up the stairs. As long as we're here." says Oorgatch, the totally "not a thief".
Are the tools worth anything?
Pirate GM
The tools are all missing pieces and rusted well beyond use. It's unclear why almost everything in that closet was kept at all.
Heading up the steep cramped stairs you get to an oddly shaped chamber. A stone desk stands against the west wall and holds tools, bottles, and jars of a variety of substances. While large, dark discolored patches of dried fluids adorn the floor of this oddly shaped chamber.
Searching the room you find an expanded alchemist’s tools and three moderate tanglefoot bags along with a slate, with numerous chalk marks on them.
See slide 9 for slate.
Oorgatch
"These tools look nice. And the tanglefoot bags might be useful."
He looks at the odd marks on the slate. "But what was it keeping tally of?"
Scarred One
Scarred One takes one tanglefoot bag and looks at the slate
"More experiments? some statistics?" he wonders trying to figure anything
I have no idea what skill: 1d20 ⇒ 2
"Each row has 4 marks. First two to A, one B, one C. Second one A, three C and so on..."
Sendoski Osprey
|
Sendoski takes a look at the slate to see if his occult knowledge can reveal anything.
"What are those marks at the bottom?"
Occultism: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Oorgatch
Oorgatch tries to judge if perhaps this was referring to the many fleshwarps in the area, and how they were doing in combats and the like.
Fleshwarp Lore: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Pirate GM
You've probably already guessed this, but the writing style matches the slate from the Seguthi that was taking notes on you earlier. Seems like definitely some sort of experiment was going on here.
Without magical assistance none of you think you can read the Seguthi writings at the bottom.
Experiment xF83Ge@5n v 17: Determine Pattern of Harvesting Blades. Result: Inconclusive, attempt again with 15.6 rodents in π/9 solar orbits.
Scarred One
Scarred One looks at note "Can you read it?"
Sendoski Osprey
|
Sendoski takes the scroll and casts from it.
"Hmm... Experiment xF83Ge@5n v 17: Determine Pattern of Harvesting Blades. Result: Inconclusive, attempt again with 15.6 rodents in π/9 solar orbits. Anyone know what that means? Harvesting blades?"
Even Naught looks confused as he sits on Sendoski's shoulder.
Yan Tovis
Could it mean that bladed trap hallway? I wonder if the diagram lines up.
Oorgatch
"Sounds about right. Which would mean that there was really no reason to go back to that bladed trap room." Oorgatch shudders when he thinks about what those blades did to him.
Scarred One
"I can make you climb young one, if you want to try that door north from the trap"
I have Spider Climb that I could cast on Oorgatch to let him climb to the wall or ceiling and open the door north from us. Scarred One can join him by morphing into a snake if there are troubles on the other side.
Pirate GM
With Spider Climb Oorgatch is easily able to bypass the many many pressure plate triggers that cover the entire floor of the room and open the door to the north.
There he finds an unadorned room with a single transparent stone block to the west overlooking the basilisk concourse.
Further investigation reveals a faint transparent outline and based on the pattern of stone along the top edge Oorgatch thinks he could activate it with a series of knocks.
Scarred One
"Secret door leading where?" Yells Scarred One from the other side of the corridor. After hearing the answer he looks at Young One for a moment
"What a waste of time, they set up that killing trap to protect what exactly? Those notes? Or the side entrance to that balcony? What a disappointment"
I guess we go back down?

I moved Scarred One towards corridor that is still not explored
Scarred One limp towards the place that he recalls was still not visited
"Maybe we will find more answers here"
Pirate GM
Sscarred one leads the party back along the walkway and through the secret door, to the stone balcony that is seperated from the pool by transparent stone.
The water is murky enough that its hard to make out anything in it, but there is a large mass far to your northwest about where you'd expect the hydra to be.
A little closer to the north east you can see a couple of rusty ladder rungs hanging from the bottom of a pair of holes in the ceiling.
To the south the pool curls around to under where the well would be although the angle is no good from up here to see what's directly beneath the well opening.
You do not find any buttons to change the transparent stone to etheral stone, leaving you back through the secret door, or around to the north and in that door to the T junction near the central shaft.
Oorgatch
"Should we consider going after the monstrosity in the arena, or should we prepare specifically for it? I am ready, but maybe more magical firepower would be in order?
"Or, you know, since we're still mostly fresh, check out the corridor we haven't been down?"
Pirate GM
Heading over to the wide path you find the doors to the west easy enough to open. Doing so reveals a room with Metal shelves and operating tables. Clean bones and bits of rusted metal lie in piles throughout the rest of the room. A couple of gaps opening up to shafts in the ceiling line up with the upstairs operating tables.
A pair of dirty green blobs lazily squelch around the chamber and haven't reacted to your presence quite yet.
There is no magic present.

Yan waits for his companions to ID. I think we've seen some oozie resistance before. Would wait in character to see what people know.
