He's not in the ancient manor. The chill of Ustalav's early spring has lifted, and the Irregulars are investigating a burned out farmhouse. Its most recent occupants were the government troops they've been sent to dislodge, but from all Edgar can see it's been abandoned for some time. He pokes around in the fireplace to see whether the faint scent of rot comes from old meat cooked there. No, nothing. Then from behind him comes a soft thud, then a roar and shouts and screams. Turning around, he sees that half the floor has collapsed, spilling Ged, Virian, and a couple others he can't see down into the basement. Flames are beginning to lick up from the far corner...

Edgar Vrinn |

The sound of the explosions in both his hallucination and reality shock Edgar and he falls to his knees, clawing at a phantom wound in his side. He grabs a bandage out of where it was in his pack in Ustalav, in reality fumbling clumsily with the air.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Brannin swings wildly, connecting with his backhand and slamming the thing into the wall. It appears dead.

Lucian Brachtarna |
His eyes wide, Lucian comes to. Shutting out the voice screaming in his head, he walks over and kicks the dead winged head hard against the wall. Pointing, "What the hell is that?" Turning back to Olivia, his voice still and octave higher than usual. "Tell me that wasn't real. Tell me magic or some evil thing that our science can't explain didn't create that!"
Taking a couple of deep breathes he tugs at the edge of his vest, straightening it back out. Blinking a couple of times he apologizes. "I'm sorry for my outburst, Olivia, but." Shaking his head, he looks to the others, "Is everyone ok, at least everything considered?
"
After everyone confirms their all right, he begins to search the room, kicking the dead head again when he nears it.

Edgar Vrinn |

Edgar slowly comes to, looking down at his belly in disbelief that his guts aren't spilling out of him. He spits. Flying heads...at least hitting it kills it. The day we meet something that doesn't die from being smashed into a wall...Well, let's see what it was guarding.

GM Fuzzfoot |

A few minutes searching the room turns up a small rusted dagger, a handful of marbles, and a small lacquered wooden box. Inside the box are several small, carved stone playing pieces. The box functions as the game board.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Looking around the room Lucian picked up the marbles rolling them around in his hand as he looked at the small dagger. He frowned a little, his stomach feeling queasy looking at the dead head-bat. Games, toys smaller sized items. Do you think this was a child's room."
As Olivia and Cardshark talk about the 'child's' game; Lucian, read to be out of there, heads into the hallway and carefully inspects the double doors in the northeast corner. He rubs his eyes, shaking his head, after the last room he wasn't sure he was ready for whatever lay behind the door. Tuning to his friends, "What do you fellows think?"
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Edgar Vrinn |

Edgar looks over at the game board and nods at Olivia's comment. [b]That's the sort of loot we should be after. Sentimental value, easy to carry, not pushdug cursed gold.[b]
As Lucian moves to the doorway, Edgar takes his place beside him, now wielding his light mace and slapping it against his free hand.

GM Fuzzfoot |

The game resembles Senet, but definitely different.
The room does appear to have been that of a child, as does the next Lucien examines.
Dust blankets this room. The walls, once brightly painted to depict life in ancient Wati, are now faded. A smaller room or alcove takes up the northeast section of the room; it was once closed off by a wooden door that since has rotted away, leaving only its hinges in the doorframe. A strong, cloying odor of decay pervades the room.
Another of the strange winged-heads appears to have nested here! It flies at Lucien.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Wrinkling his nose and turning his head Lucians eyes start to water due to the smell. Seeing the bat-winged long-tongued head-thing flying at him through the rotted door. "Blast!" Cursing he lifts the mauser and squeezes off two quick shots as he backs up.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Lucien's gun jams, and as he tries to clear it, it jams again! Cardshark steps in and takes a shot, though, blasting a hole in one of the creatures wings.
That was a good hit! But it isn't down yet. Let's see what Edgar and Brannin have got...

Edgar Vrinn |

Apologies for slow posting, I was traveling the last week
Edgar lets out a wordless shout of rage, and leaps forward to stab the thing with his kukri. However, still shaken by his visions in the last room, his thrust is a bit wild.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Pulling the slide back on his Mauser, Lucian attempts to eject the round as Cardshark fires a round and Edgar and Brannin charge forward. Looking up from the pistol, he breaths a sigh of relief as the bat-wing head-thing hits the wall then the ground. Looking around nervously he adds, "Well done, all of you, I thought I was a goner."
Moving further into the room, B21 Lucian kicks the dead creature a couple of times for good measure, Inspecting the room quickly. He turns to the others. "I think we've finished checking the house. Should we head back out into the yard? I noticed a large out-building over where we killed the giant centipede."
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

GM Fuzzfoot |

Buried amid the debris in the room is a large darkwood box worth $1000 according to Olivia. Inside is a white silk Osirian wedding robe that is extremely fragile with age. Lucien realizes that any attempt to remove the robe from the chest will ruin it. If preserved, the robe is worth $1500. The chest also contains several pieces of inexpensive jewelry worth $350 in total, and a strand of freshwater pearls worth $2000.
A small sealed tube contains five applications of something that might be a cosmetic?
Finally, a long scroll tube holds a rolled-up papyrus painting-a self-portrait of Ariseti, accompanied by her signature in Ancient Osiriani. Unlike the wedding robe, the painting has been protected from air for many years and can be safely handled without damaging it. It is worth $800 to a collector.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Smiling at Cardsharks excitement, Lucian nods, "Yes we should all be rich men." His eyes fall on Olivia, "Er rich persons." He nods towards the other side of the chest, "Let's carry the chest down and set it near the front before we finish checking the yard."
Once they move the artifacts nearer the door, Lucian will point towards the north west. "Let's go check that shed, before we check the eastern yard."
When everyone seems to be ready, Mauser in hand, Lucian head towards the shed on the western side of the building, north of where they killed the giant centipede.

GM Fuzzfoot |

A rectangular stone building sits in the northwest corner of the estate. At each corner stand columns carved to resemble men and women with their arms crossed over their chests. A set of stone doors stands in the southern face of the building, carved with bas-relief faces of two men. Hieroglyphs are carved into the doors just beneath the faces.
All seems quiet, silent as a crypt...
Opening the doors takes some effort and a pry-bar, but it reveals a set of stairs down into the earth.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Smiling at Cardsharks, question, Lucian answers. "Only one way to find out. Give me a moment" Pausing for a moment, he holsters his pistol to take of his pack. Taking a torch out of the rucksack, he places the pack back on, then lights the torch. Holding the torch in his left hand, he draws the mauser in his right. "Now were ready."
Heading down the steps torch in one hand, pistol in the other, Lucian keeps a keen eye out for anything weird.

A stone altar sits upon a raised stone platform in the center of this square room. Caryatid columns carved in the likenesses of male and female figures with their arms crossed over their chests and khopeshes or ankhs in their hands stand at each corner of the platform. Empty torch holders are built in all four of the room's corners. Two stairways exit the room-one climbs to the south, while the other descends from this chamber to the north.
A mummy lies resting on the altar, and as you enter, it starts to rise.

Edgar Vrinn |

Edgar had come in, taking his usual position, and as the mummy moves he shifts the boarding axe in his hand, looking at Lucian questioningly for a moment.
Then the rush of anger overtakes him, and he lunges forward, swinging the axe at the rising mummy in a brutal downward slash.

Lucian Brachtarna |
The map has us on the steps, would we have been in the room before the mummy started to move. Only asking to determine if Lucian can take a 5 ft step or not.
'Hmmm, my mother would love to do a dig here.' Recognizing the caryatid columns and carvings, Lucian pauses appreciating the significance of what they'd found. Smiling he begins to point out the figures at the corners, then his eyes are drawn to the altar as the corpse begins to move. His eyes widening as he brings the pistol up. "It's moving! It bloody well isn't supposed to be moving!" He then squeezes off two quick rounds.

I would say that it began to move as soon as you opened the doors. I rearranged the map to reflect my best guess, so your full attack should be fine.

Thanks
Raising an eyebrow as the 'monster' runs away, Elek realizes he'll need to move to get a clean shot at it. Lifting the torch high he goes left to the far corner. Asking, "Is anyone surprised it retreated?" Not really having any other information to go from he continues. "Anyone ever heard of a make-believe undead monster running away?" As he moves around the far corner he levels the pistol at the creature and fires.

The mummy is looking seriously wounded, and seems to be trying to make an escape. It double moves for the entrance.
Both Edgar and Brannin get AoO attacks here.
