Lucian gets a very lucky shot, which seems to put a bullet in the middle of whatever a centipede may call a brain. The creature stops dead in its tracks.
Olivia quickly bandages the fallen companions, and at least for now, no one is in danger of dying. She also gives each of them a dose of anti-venom.
Clearly, a trip to the hospital might be in order...

"I think they will both wake up, but we should take them out of here and get some rest. It might take a few days, but I think that's ok. These ruins have been here forever, and won't be going anywhere in a few days."

GM Fuzzfoot |

You did, although I don't think you know exactly what they are. She was going to use one, but since the combat ended, might as well hold onto it.
Olivia bandages the fallen, and after a few HPs restored, they are able to limp out. Once back in your hotel, some food, rest and cleanup is necessary for everyone to get brought back up to full health, but even the poison damage eventually subsides.
You have some money, and the thought of some bigger guns certainly crosses your minds.

Brannin Dowtry |

For days Brannin lay in his bed, recovering from his wounds. Modern medicine truly was amazing. Still, it did nothing to heal the mind. He had experienced magic...or at least so he thought. It was hard to tell for sure. All he knew was that, when he was cleared to leave, that he wanted to go back into those ruins. Otherwise, the questions would haunt him for the rest of his days.

While the others are resting, Olivia makes some contacts through the library and starts putting together a lab.
"These vials of liquid intrigue me. I have gathered some old texts on alchemy, and am doing some experimentation on them. The results have been very interesting. Anyway, let me know when you feel up to returning to the site."

GM Fuzzfoot |

After a few days under care, you are all feeling better. Just let me know what you want to do next.

Cardshark |

Automatic weapons? The local army doesn't have those as longarms, just support weapons. Chelexians do, so I have heard. The supports are rather heavy. Light Machine gun is the smallest. Ammunition is a pain as well. Probably better to get some shotguns? Cardshark says when asked.
I am making a few assumptions here about the weapons available right now. Bolt action rifles were the main weapon for much of WW2 in every army, assault rifles and SMG's were not as common. It varied. As the game was modelled off late 30's weapons...GM's decision I guess

GM Fuzzfoot |

Your assumptions are good... but you are also a resourceful purveyor of goods! I wouldn't get everyone a light machine gun, but 1 or 2 should be possible. But as you mentioned, ammo can get tricky. For these weapons, we can assume GP = $, so they can be rather expensive, but you have some money now.

Edgar Vrinn |

Edgar shrugs at the mention of guns. Good to have a couple, but I like to get up close and personal. So long as no friendly fire, of course.
The few days of rest have freed his mind as well as his body, and he has spent some time helping Olivia with her research. Fighting supernatural foes makes this more of the sort of adventure he dreamed about as a kid instead of studying, and less of the modern warfare he's been engaged in.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Having met with Cardshark's contact the night before, Lucian meets the others at the gate of the Necropolis with a slightly used older model sub-machine gun slung over his shoulder. He chuckles nervously at the conversation about friendly fire, remembering how many times they had all fired in very close proximity to each other. Shifting the strap on his shoulder, "Hopefully we can get through this without anyone firing at anything." He gently pats the wooden stock of the added firearm, "But I brought this along just in case."
Pleased to see everyone whole and hale again, he nods towards the gates of the dead city, "Shall we? We still have a mansion to loot," He smiles at Olivia, "I'm sorry, an ancient dig where in to gather antiquities for the library." He then heads back he way they came to the mansion, again heading through the gates into the front doors.
assuming nothing prevents it
Instead of heading straight back he turns to the right, B13 keeping a keen eye out as he goes, pointing towards the door on the eastern wall, "Let's check that way, shall we."

Everyone level 2 now? Edgar, you might need to update your tag line.
A large tiled pool sits in the center of this chamber, surrounded by sloping tiled floors. A few steps descend into the basin, which has accumulated a deep layer of sand on its bottom. Faded murals on the walls depict scenes of life along a river, with recurring themes of running water and aquatic life running through the artwork. In the northeast corner, a tarnished bronze spigot juts from the wall just above head level. Archways lead north and west(which you came through), and a stone door stands in the eastern wall.

Cardshark |

Looks like a...pond, bath maybe. The water came from there he said pointing at the bronze spigot.
He thinks
That much bronze would sell for a pretty penny
Cardshark moves to look through the archway

Edgar Vrinn |

Edgar takes his usual place looking out for trouble, slightly behind Lucian, his kukri drawn.
[b]Think the sand will come to life?[b] he says, gesturing at the basin. To Cardshark, he replies [b]Some rich glob might want the whole thing for their manor, put in modern plumbing and the like.[b]

GM Fuzzfoot |

Through the archway is a restroom. A stone privy is built into one wall of this tiny room, and a stone table with a basin stands against the other wall. A large mirror once hung above the table, but it was shattered ages ago. The floor is covered in broken glass and dead scarab beetles. A headless corpse sits upright on one of the privies.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Smiling at Cardsharps observation he asks, "You mean being beheaded on the toilet or being left there?"
Pointing towards the floor with the barrel of the mauser, "Do you think the broken glass and dead scarabs have anything to do with it?"
Moving closer to the corpse, he uses the pistols barrel and moves the corpses clothes, looking for anything interesting,

'She's right, if I had been paying attention to the clothes, I'd have realized they were not that old.' Nodding in agreement with Olivia, Lucian steps back from the body. "I doubt if anyone would boobytrap their own toilet. Maybe it was the sandman we fought the first time we were here." He gestures towards the next room. "It would behoove us to remain alert." He turns and smiles towards Brannin, "Hard to spend the gold if were dead. Remind me not to use the facilities while were in the Necropolis."
Winking at Cardshark, he continues moving north into the next room B16 keeping a watchful eye out, making a mental note that the sandman's earlier location was just to his left.

"I don't think the mirror was involved in this man's death. Plus, this body is probably not more than three years old."
Edgar laughs at Olivia's deadpan delivery. S#@+ for luck he had, then. Let's find a way to give him a decent burial when we're done here, perhaps.
He follows along, with only a brief glance back at the dead man.

"This area was the household chapel, dedicated to Abadar, Pharasma, and Sarenrae. The Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs on the walls offer praises to the three gods and list several common prayers to each."

GM Fuzzfoot |

The pockets are empty, so if the person had any possessions, they seem to have been removed - perhaps with the head, which you do not see anywhere nearby.
Did you all find some scale mail and a crossbow before after battling the sandman? If not you also see those here, in addition to a gold sun, likely a holy symbol to the god Sarenrae. They are all in remarkably good shape.
Moving on, hieroglyphs and images of fantastic beings cover the walls of this small room. A small stone shrine, dusty and thoroughly defaced, stands against the eastern wall.

Brannin Dowtry |

"Well, the pockets are empty, but look at these antiques. Good condition. I bet we could sell the mail and crossbow for a pretty penny." Brannin said. "So long as we keep our heads, we should make a decent profit here today." He finished with a smile.

Lucian Brachtarna |

Smiling at Brannin's comment about a profit, Lucian turns to Olivia, "Would armor and weaponry be something the library would want, or will they sell it off to a museum?" Gesturing towards the armor, "Either way, we can leave it here an pick it up when we leave." Joking, "Unless one of you gent's wants to try it on."

Able to read some of the ancient Osiriani, Lucian turns to Olivia, "Why would someone deface the shrine." As his eye wander towards the fantastic images, he pauses trying to recognize any of them

"I am sure the museum will buy these fine pieces, but given the strange dangers we have been facing, maybe some ancient armor might be handy. I can't believe a crossbow would be as effective as a gun, however. But the fact that it is in such excellent shape, despite the elements, intrigues me."

GM Fuzzfoot |

It is hard to say who defaced the temple or why. But it looks like it wouldn't take too much effort to clean it up.
Since you are walking by B19...
Two stone tables sit against the western wall of this room, while a third occupies the southeastern corner. A small, square wooden butcher's block stands in the northeast corner, now almost collapsing under its own weight. A stone oven sits in the middle of the north wall. A humanoid skeleton lies beneath the northwestern table, surrounded by smashed crockery. A door to the east and an open doorway to the south exit the room.
B5, behind the double doors
A spacious yard fills the compound east of the house. To the east, several small stone outbuildings have been built right into the compound's outer wall. A well stands between two of these outbuildings, opposite a stone table and benches that sit in the shadow of the house. To the west, two sets of steps, both flanked by columns, lead up to doors into the main house. To the northwest, an open doorway leads into an extension of the house, next to a small structure with a domed roof.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Lucian picked up Ancient Osiriani @ 2nd lvl. don't think he had to go through the kitchen to get to the double doors, but he will head that way next.
Earlier
Pausing at the wall, Lucian, remembering the giant centipede outside, responds to Edgar's question, "That's a good question. Give me a minute." Then scans the hieroglyphics one more time.

A pitted and rusted dagger is still wedged between the skeleton's ribs.
Otherwise, it is unremarkable and nothing of value in here.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Leaving the pitted and rusted dagger where it lay, Lucian points to the door in the north east corner. "I assume that's the pantry, but let's go ahead and check it before we head upstairs." He moves over two the door in the corner of the kitchen and carefully inspects it.

'Just as I suspected, some sort of pantry or mudroom.' Closing the pantry door, he tells he others. "Pantry with a door heading out to the side yard." Moving back through the kitchen to where olivia waited, he nods to his left, "Before we go outside and possibly have to flee from a giant bug, I'd like to check the upstairs." He looks towards Edgar, Brannin and Cardshark, making sure they had no objections.

He heads back through the occupied bathroom and the strange pool, through the foyer and into B12 the large room with the wide stairs. Having been surprised before by the 'sandman' Lucian stops at the stairs and checks them for traps before he heads up them.

I assume everyone follows.
This balcony wraps around a twenty-foot-square opening in the floor, overlooking the inner courtyard below and connecting the rooms of the second floor. Above, a square skylight in the ceiling provides natural light to the ground floor and ventilation for the entire building. To the southwest, two small staircases ascend from a landing on the grand staircase between floors.
Six different sets of doors lead off of this balcony.
The stairs and hallway seem to contain no traps.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Nodding in agreement wtih Cardshark Lucian, pistol in hand, moves up the stairs stopping at the double doors near the top. Remembering the 'sandman' was probably still somewhere about he quietly checks the doors for traps.
