The creature doesn't seem to hear or understand, but it does not surrender.
Need to resolve some AoO before continuing...

GM Fuzzfoot |

Brannin takes a swipe with his mechanical arm, but misses as the creature passes.
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Edgar - AoO for you still.

I am afraid we may have lost Edgar. He does not have any other active aliases, so he may have just drifted off the board. Anyone want to bot him for bit?

lol, he ninja'd you.
Watching as Edgar lashes out with the axe, Lucian isn't sure how to react to attacking a retreating creature. One part sad to see something trying to avoid a fight being struck down; but mostly just glad that the undead creature was returned to the grave.
I hope

GM Fuzzfoot |

Welcome back!
Edgar cuts the head off of the creature, but his axe sticks fast to the neck. Luckily, the creature is dead, and the adhesive weakens fairly quickly.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Upon closer examination, you are not entirely sure. It looks like a mummy, but the "guts" are not petrified. Maybe it was a man wrapped to look like a mummy, but that doesn't explain the adhesive properties.

"Not to be morbid, but I really think we should take this body back to the museum and study it further. It does not seem natural, although I have no reason now to think it is supernatural either. Very interesting.
These bandages seem more like a skin, rather than cloth that is wrapped about him."

did it bleed? Did the wounds react (blood Bruises) like something that's alive?
heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17Holstering his pistol Lucian kneels down beside the creature, inspecting the neck cavity on the headless body. Looking from Cardshark to Olivia. "Your right, we should take it with us when we leave." Shaking his head, "I don't know which idea disturbs me more, a mummy returned to life or something created lying here all this time to look like a mummy come to life."
"Speaking of lying here, let's see if there's anything else of value before we press on." Rising to his feet, Lucian begins to inspect the stone altar for hidden cubbies and checks the statues to see if the weapons come loose.
Once they are sure they've uncovered whatever the room has to reveal, he points to the descending stairs to the north. "Shall we?"Pausing long enough to reload his pistol, he heads towards the steps; torch in one hand, pistol in the other keeping a keen eye out as he goes.
Taking 20(29) on perception for the altar, taking 10 (19) everywhere else, including the stairs

Edgar Vrinn |

Edgar shakes his head, looking down at the mummy, and retrieves his axe.
Doesn't matter, it's dead again now. He kicks the head softly, like a soccer ball. Best take all the parts, so it doesn't come looking for any like in that kids' story.
He gathers up any loose pieces of the mummy that may have flown off during the fight.

GM Fuzzfoot |

It did bleed and bruise. In fact, you can now see that the "bandages" are not cloth, but perhaps some sort of skin that hangs off in weird patches.
You don't find anything of value in this area. Nothing stands out as unusual.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Apparently, I totally missed the second half of Olivia's earlier post.
'It wasn't dead to start with.' Realizing the 'bandages' were not cloth but skin, Lucian, shakes his head. "It's like Olivia said, wasn't dead, but it's skin has evolved to look like bandages." He stands up moving away from the corpse, looking at Oliva, "What kind of creature would live in a tomb, what happened to the body that was here?"
He looked from her down to the steps, "Only one way to find out." He points to the descending stairs to the north. "Shall we?" Pausing long enough to reload his pistol, he heads towards the steps; torch in one hand, pistol in the other, keeping a keen eye out as he goes.
taking 10 (19) on perception for the stairs

The air in this chamber is cool. The walls and ceilings are tiled with stone, but the floor is hard-packed earth, giving the area an unfinished quality. A long stone table rests against the western wall, flanked by two large brass urns. Two passages lead north and east out of the room.

Lucian Brachtarna |
Holding the torch out in front of him, Lucian points it towards the wide hallway on the right. Then stepping forward a bit he points it towards the narrower hallway forward. Not seeing anything running at them from either direction he moved the torch nearer the long stone tables and urns. Looking back towards the others his eyes finally landing on Olivia. he asks "Any ideas what these may have been for?"
Assuming nothing happens.
Believing they were just tables and urns, Lucian turns towards the wider hallway to the east. Gesturing that way with the torch he brings the mauser back to bear. "Shall we?" Asking rhetorically as he begins to move that way, keeping a keen eye out as he goes.
Taking 10 (19) on perception, knowledge check is for the table and urns. If dungeoneering + 5, geography +7 or local+7 helps please add it in

An earthy scent fills this large chamber. The ceiling and walls are tiled with stone, but the ground is bare earth. Stone benches are set against the east and west walls, and torch holders are mounted in the corners and on either side of a wide doorway to the west. The beginnings of several shallow, rough passages have been started along the eastern wall and in the southwest corner, but the excavations are incomplete, ending in earth and rubble after only a few feet. At the south end of the room, a short, wide flight of steps descends to a set of stone double doors.

Lucian Brachtarna |
'Preparation for mumification?' Nodding at Olivia's explanation, Lucian moves carefully through the room, chuckling at Cardshark's dry sense of humor. He points towards the excavations, "Strange, they started to dig through the stone walls, I wonder why."
He pauses looking back at Olivia, "Ms Harding would those excavations be from the builders or later." He pauses, pointing the torch at one of the 'diggings' "I would think grave robbers would have dug in not out. I wonder if the creature we killed did this."
Shrugging his shoulders, he moved towards the double doors to the south. Pausing at the steps he investigates them, then carefully investigates the double doors for traps.
Taking 10 (19) on perception for the steps, but taking 20(29) on perception investigating the door. If trapped or locked he'll take 19(21) on disable device

GM Fuzzfoot |

As Lucien approaches the doors, cats come out from everywhere. But these cats are decayed, skeletal, and even missing parts. Clearly, something is wrong, as they group together into a swarm!

Lucian Brachtarna |
Hearing Olivia's 'Eek' Lucian turns and sees the cat like things coming out of the openings. Cursing, "Blast! Tell me those are some unknown creature and not dead cats!" He then aims the mauser at the pile of putrid porous pussy cats and quickly squeezes the trigger twice.

Lucian's shot destroys only 1 cat, which seems very ineffective against the swarm. Cardshark has much better luck (yes, +50%) - burning many of the creatures.
Swarm is at about 11% right now...

GM Fuzzfoot |

The axe is quite ineffective.
Brannin - still with us?
