FYI, bard song is vs. both axiomites and Vector, due to the wonderful power of Shawdowbard. No idea how you can hear both at the same time, but physics doesn't apply anyway. :)

![]() |

They do, but because they fly, they will only provoke from those adjacent at the start or end of the move because they can pass along the ceiling.
Makes sense. Quenly was adjacent to Blue and is flying. I'll roll an AoO, please apply it if you agree GM.
AoO dragon bite vs Blue, dragon shape, GMF, heroism, bulls strength, might + fates favoured, haste, bard, power attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 3 - 3 = 32magic damage, GMF, might, bard, power: 1d8 + 7 + 4 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 4 + 3 + 6 = 22

![]() |

That is one of the most complicated attacks I've ever seen, PbP or otherwise.

![]() |

Okay, at home, at my computer, ready to go, and I'm staggered. You're a mean GM. <evil grin> C'mon, smile with me. Gotta keep it light.
Realizing something is wrong, Giovanni tries to provide opportunities to hurt one of the supporting creatures.
Primary Chain Reposition vs. Red w/ Haste & Bard: 1d20 + 35 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 35 + 1 + 3 = 54
If successful, and CMD is 50 or more, Red is brought down 5'. If that does NOT Put Red on the ground, and CMD is between 45 and 50, then Red goes 10' down, or to the floor, whichever is closer. If the first bit DID put Red on the floor, then Red will be pushed 5' away from Giovanni, between the dinosaur and the djinn. This movement provokes from everyone who threatens Red, except me, since my weapon is involved in the maneuver.

Drain Actions is not a fun ability.
Quenly takes a bite out of the axiomite as it flies away. The creature's defenses result in it barely scratching, but it does scratch.
Anyone know if DR or half from incorporeal applies first? It's the difference between 1 and 6 damage, but you never know which HP will be the one that matters.
Giovanni grabs Red and drags it to the ground, then shoves it away from him. Isah makes a quick strike as it moves.
+2 Trident, AOO: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

Otto, Allison, Marta and the dragon get attacks of opportunity.
Vector tries once again to slow things down a little bit, dispelling the haste effect on party members near the stairs and possibly re-slowing Isah.
Isah Will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
No luck on that front, though.
He then tries to correct Otto's existence.
Otto Will: 1d20 + 21 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 21 + 4 = 41
This also doesn't work out for the aeravut. He then starts pummeling Reiko, switching to Barm if she goes down.

Reiko Will, Reroll: 1d20 + 16 + 3 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 16 + 3 + 6 + 4 = 44

Having resisted the earlier electricity damage Quenly's correct temp hp total is 20 + 19 from false life, for +39; he also has a CON boost from Dragon Form ;)
Finding it difficult to harm the incorporeal axiomites (without recourse to his most potent evocations) Quenly elects to strip defences from Vector. He gestures with a draconic hand.
Cast Dispel Magic at Vector; not targeting any specific spell but allowing the Dispel to go at the highest caster level effect first. Quenly is using a 4th level slot, but it's still a 3rd level spell.
Caster Level check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 That'll hit up to CL15
Quenly will also move - either adjacent to Green, or up to Blue to stop him casting on Vector if folks don't mind the Silence covering them too.

Quenly's Dragon |

Just because it can, the little dragon will take its AoO with its tail.
AoO vs Red, might, bard: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 4 + 3 = 27damage: 1d3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 if that hit, Red gets to attempt a DC20 Fort save vs poison. On a fail Red falls asleep for 1 minute. Red also gets to attempt a DC20 Will save if the dragon hit. If it succeeds it realises that the dragon is a shadow creature and takes 20% damage from it, and the poison only has a 20% chance to work.
The dragon maintains the watery jet on Vector.
water damage: 5d4 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 4, 4) = 19

cmlobue |

The dragon just misses an attack while Red is shoved past by Giovanni, but Marta lands a strike, and follows it up with a barrage of others, knocking it out.
The third hit drops Red. Do you still make the fourth attack?
Quenly strips Vector of his defense against sonic attacks, while the dragon continues to spray it.

The third hit drops Red. Do you still make the fourth attack?
Yes, since these guys have shown the ability to heal. Add another 5 temp HP to Marta; the points last for 10 minutes so they might be around for the next battle too.

![]() |

If you can't hear the bard, you can't get the bonuses from the lecture. I'm fine with that, but just to keep in mind for other people.

![]() |

Good point, those bonuses are worth letting Vector get hit up with another Cure Serious from Blue. Quenly moves adjacent to Green then.

Allison the Allosaurus |

Allison air-steps 5' to the north and tries to see how Vector tastes.
+3 bite, haste, elemental might: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (4) + 25 = 29

Presuming that is a miss, using one use of Skirmisher tricks and an immediate action to reroll a missed attack with a -5 (Second Chance Strike)

So, *if* a 36 hits Vector, and *if* a 40 beats its CMD, and *if* it doesn't have Freedom of Movement or some other shenanigans, *then* Allison has grappled it and as part of the grapple moves it to the only available adjacent space. (I've noted this grappled Vector on the map with a dotted cyan border, while still leaving the original Vector in its position, since I'm expecting that for some reason or another this will probably fail).

Otto's attack target depends on whether or not Allison managed to grapple (and therefore move) Vector. If yes, then Vector is now adjacent to them both and all of Otto's attacks will be directed towards Vector (whose AC should be reduced due to being grappled). If no (and Vector is still in the (Purple) position), then Vector is out of Otto's 10' reach and all his attacks are instead directed against incorporeal Blue.

Her second attempt at a bite glances off the metallic skin of the creature. She then manages a strike with one claw, but the other is well off the mark.
The aximoite near Quenly reforms and tries to move the creature harassing it out of the timestream, then steps away.

A player messaged me wanting this information, but I am about to head out.

Reiko takes another step back and casts defensively.
Concentration: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (15) + 21 = 36
Heal: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
She reaches out to touch Allison and grants her Greater Heroism (morale bonus for Moment of Greatness, does stack with Reiko's bard song).
She then uses another point of elemental might, takes a further step, and casts the same spell on Otto.
Sorry to abandon Barm, but Reiko is rather fragile.

![]() |

Reiko, I'm not sure you can take another 5' step - doesn't the point of elemental might just give you an additional standard action? (Also, thanks for the Greater Heroism!)

cmlobue |

You cannot take two 5-foot steps in a round unless an ability specifically allows it. On the other hand, the second step is not necessary to reach Otto. Reiko can either cast defensively again from the previous square or move as specified and take an attack of opportunity.

![]() |

Sorry, I was getting ahead of myself.
concentration: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22 Or not! Serves me right.
I also only had one 5th level spell left, so I couldn't cast it anyway. If you don't mind me switching, I can either try to cast Greater Invis on Otto and fail, or I can try to cast Disrupt Silence on myself and succeed. Disrupt Silence was on my list of things to do. She will also draw a wand as a swift action.

cmlobue |

After a roll like that, I'm going to say Otto is not invisible. Anyway, I need to add a little suspense to this fight...

![]() |

Reiko, if you need the Silence stopped Quenly can just grab hold of his ioun stone and close his fist around it to block the emanation. It'll cost a move action. Quenly is likely to try to full attack green next round otherwise, maybe destroy the axiomite.

Damage: 1d8 + 4d6 + 22 ⇒ (5) + (5, 2, 3, 6) + 22 = 43 + acid: 1d6 ⇒ 6

It never hurts to remind people (i.e. me). There is no need for Isah's attack, though.

Allison tears away at the Blue axiomite, the only foe apparently remaining.
Allison Bite, haste, Greater Heroism, elemental might: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (12) + 29 = 41
dmg: 4d6 + 14 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 6) + 14 = 32
Grab: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (7) + 34 = 41
I don't think Blue is still incorporeal so unless shenanigans, I assume that Blue is now grappled. Allison moves him to an adjacent square. (I've adjusted Blue's position 1 square to the south).
Allison Bite, haste, Greater Heroism, elemental might: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (16) + 29 = 45
dmg: 4d6 + 14 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 4) + 14 = 29
Claw 1: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (3) + 29 = 32
dmg: 3d6 + 14 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) + 14 = 22
Claw 2: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (1) + 29 = 30
dmg: 3d6 + 14 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) + 14 = 20
Otto's action will probably depend on whether Blue is still standing after that. If Blue is still somehow alive then Otto will also full attack Blue. Otherwise:
Fast dismount (free action) Ride DC 20: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29
Otto free action dismounts into the square occupied by Blue's fallen body and then he sets to work making sure that Vector is fully destroyed.
Coup de grace - full round action - automatic hit & automatic crit
+1 keen scythe Crit dmg: 8d6 + 52 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 2, 3, 5, 4, 3) + 52 = 82 + sonic dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2
I'm not sure if Blur applies or not but just in case: 1d100 ⇒ 73
If Vector is immune to critical hits then this fails. Otherwise, Vector has to make a Fort save of 10+damage dealt or die (presumably DC 84).

No shenanigans this time, but Blue is still up after Allison's attacks.

![]() |

How many of Allison/Marta's attacks landed?

cmlobue |

All. Just not enough damage output to finish Blue, which was barely hurt.

![]() |

Still Otto, then Reiko and Barm to act before Blue :)

Otto slices repeatedly at Blue with his scythe from atop Allison.
All attacks are vs Blue's grappled AC (i.e. 2 lower than usual) I believe
+1 keen scythe, haste, elemental might, archivist, higher ground: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (10) + 26 = 36
dmg: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (4, 1) + 13 = 18 + sonic dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2
+1 keen scythe, haste, elemental might, archivist, higher ground: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (19) + 26 = 45
dmg: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (3, 4) + 13 = 20 + sonic dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 6
+1 keen scythe, haste, elemental might, archivist, higher ground: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (12) + 21 = 33
dmg: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (6, 6) + 13 = 25 + sonic dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1
CRIT CONFIRM? +1 keen scythe, haste, elemental might, archivist, higher ground: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (1) + 26 = 27
EXTRA DMG FROM CRIT IF CONFIRMED: 6d6 + 39 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 2, 2, 6) + 39 = 57

Quenly chews on Green until it falls unconscious, and Allison, Otto and Marta team up to slay Blue. The room is momentarily quiet other than Reiko's lectures.
Although you are not actively in combat, three of the axiomites are still alive and their wounds are closing rather quickly, so you need to decide what to do with them. And if there's anything else you need to do in this room.
I misread something in Vector's stat block and thought he would survive going below 0 HP. He did not.
Quenly (+2 HP) and Dragon (+30 HP)
Otto (+40 HP) and Allison (+30 HP, greater heroism)
Marta (+10 HP)
Green (-131 HP, 56 nonlethal, unconscious)
Reiko (+3 HP, haste)
Barm (+20 HP, haste)
Yellow (-50 HP, 125 nonlethal, unconscious)
Red (-59 HP, 147 nonlethal, unconscious)
Giovanni (+35 HP)
Isah (-18 HP)

Marta heads towards Vector and assesses whether a breath of life would save her.
heal, heroism: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 2 = 30
If she is in time she will cast the spell on him using a scroll.

There is nothing to be learned from the axiomites. Those creatures stifle life and creativity. It would be better to destroy them, send their spirits back to Axis, though I doubt they have spirits.
We have freed Ranginori. We should leave quickly before more inevitables or Isah's dragon-thing appear.
Almost absent-mindedly Quenly casts a Detect Magic spell to scan the room, and the fallen enemies, for auras. He avoids looking at the trueflame forge though.
I don't think we have any teleportation do we? Quenly can conjure horses for everyone if they want though, or a couple of phantom steeds. Quenly's not bloodthirsty enough to kill the axiomites wantonly, but if we're going to stick around for any reason would advocate destroying them for safety's sake.

NO!!!!
Quenly shouts aloud as he sees Marta approach Vector with a scroll.
Remembering his silence spell, he flies towards Marta and the inevitable.
That thing has no interest in parley, it plainly communicated its intention to eradicate us from history. It cannot be reasoned with. If you call it back to life it will continue with its mission. It is not a form of life like anything you have understood before. Have you BEEN to Axis? May all the gods preserve us! Leave it where it is!
