“Perhaps sometime you can tell me more of the battles between Nirmathas and Multhune. I have heard that Multhune has a long military tradition, but know little else of it.” She seems honestly interested in the topic.
No need to go into details. It is something she would be interested in though.
“You are correct, within these chambers there should be no need for weapons. Once you are out there though, there are plenty of dangers.” She makes a vague gesture in the general direction of the Stormval Plateau.
Truddig believes he has influenced her, but it will take more to fully convince her. He thinks she would respect demonstrations of confidence and fitness made with Acrobatics or Intimidate checks.

Idril tries to remember his training to perform a martial display. Unsure about his actions, he keeps his sword sheathed. He moves through a combat exercise.
Perform: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Sorry, not a ton of helpful skills for this encounter.

GM Bret |

Payah thinks Idril is trying to make fun of her and becomes quite angry. “You mock me? Is this the way you show respect?”
Cousin to All quickly intervenes, calming her down enough that Idril isn’t immediately evicted. After Cousin to All is done, they come over to Idril and politely suggests he find a different way to interact with Payah.
Failure and Idril can not use Perform to attempt to influence Payah again.

![]() |

"A clumsy attempt from my friends. These moves impress our locals but they are obviously unimpressive here your battle acumen is too high for our attempts. Maybe think of them like a young worrier trying a little to hard to impress."
Can that count as a diplomacy attempt on Payah? Do they seem to be getting more hostile with failed attempts? Would it be better to try someone fresh?

Sadaf concentrates on memory tender and tries to find out what would work to convince her.
3rd roll: sense motive to find out Skills for memory tender : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Fifi pitches in Awkin's diplomatic endeavor, adding-"Our desire to help at best we can may be interpreted as us not taking the situation seriously. Apologies for that - we recognize this is a serious matter, I assure you."
Diplomacy to Aid Awkin: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

GM Bret |

Payah listens to what Awkin has to say. She seems much more attentive when Fifi joins in reinforcing her companion’s statement. You do not know if it was enough to make her more inclined to vote for your proposal or not.
High tier using the most difficult of the possible skills.
You have to beat the target by 5 or have reached their influence point to get told if you were successful or not.

![]() |

Ginadori will try to check her hunch as to whether Memory Tender is inclined towards an appropriate telling of History. It’s one of Gina’s favorite things.
This is a Knowledge Local to Discover And Analyze
knowledge local plus last bit of Lupine influence: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 7 + (3) = 17
Phase 4 Gina’s going to go for the History check with her daily take 20 because this trying to figure things out is going terribly.

![]() |

Idril, or you can just aid another on one of the checks. The diplomacy roll is now at 20+ and could maybe be pushed higher.

![]() |

Awkin is going to look to Rollicks in Waves, "You know there is an aspect of faith and change to everything we do. I'm a man of faith and when something happens beyond my control I address it. We are just asking you to allow us to do that. Please trust us to do what we can. We lose nothing by trying."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

GM Bret |

"My friend, though I would love to chat I suggest that you focus your efforts on convincing the others to accept your proposal. My quah has seen what it means to have the help of the Society and will be voting that way already."
No time spent, Awkin can try with someone else. I will even allow you to keep the roll, just choose who it goes to and give me the description of your presentation.

![]() |

"I think I'd like to know more about the dangers of the Storval Plateau." Truddig answer, continuing an engaging conversation with Payah of the Winds. "We obviously all did our research on what happened earlier, but I guess I didn't think of where the tomb was. Will we have to cross the plateau to get there?" After getting an answer, he goes into a small dissertation on the history of the conflict between Molthune and Nirmathas, focusing on Cheliax's part in the bad blood. "I believe Cheliax is partly responsible for the Shoanti's current displacement, too; is that correct?"
Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

GM Bret |

"It isn't very far from here, less than a days walk."
She quite enjoys the talk of the differences in the two militaries. With respect to Chelliax, she comments "They have much to pay for, and we intend to collect on those debts in time."
Truddig thinks that although Diplomacy can work with her, it is certainly the most difficult of the options he has come up with.

![]() |

Fifi once again aids Awkin, trying to redirect the conversation towards Payah-"Our faith translates into determination. Please, give us a chance to show you what we can do. We have arranged everything to restore the Muschkal Sepulcher to what it once was. The Society has pledged all resources needed, and us to utilize them."
Diplo Aid: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

![]() |

GM it looks like Flame Stoker has not yet been persuaded correct?
"Flame Stoker, it is not a day's work that matters it is the work accomplished in a day. We are asking you to give us the time to try. If we are not to your satisfaction you get a free day's work and some reparations. If we succeed we may begin to repair the relationship and we both could gain an ally."

![]() |

According to our info, Flame Stoker is not convinceable

GM Bret |

Unfortunately he is more than willing to waste time talking to people.
Since it was Fifi who was doing the Aid and recognized the problem, I will say she prevented Awkin from going to him.
I've suggested it once already, perhaps someone should take notes and make them available to the group so everyone knows where you are with this. Go ahead and put the notes in my slides if you want.
Fifi intercepts Awkin before she gets to Flame Stoker and suggests they talk to someone else.
I had forgotten to mention, Truddig knows that he did make progress with Payah but she is still not fully swayed yet.

![]() |

If I can get some free time I will try to make notes but the new job is taking a lot out of me sorry for not keep up fully.
This is what I have so far:
Kemchet Flame Stoker – not persuadable.
Togimal in Shadow - Profession (hunter) -
Lake at Dawn - Knowledge (religion) - +1 Influence +2 we think supports us
Memory Tender - Knowledge (history) -
Rollicks in Waves -
Payah Against the Wind - Acrobatics or Intimidate - +1 Influence may or may not have one more
Did I miss anything?

![]() |

"I'm going to keep talking to everyone in the room until we are all friends, even you Kemchet Flame Stoker. Memory Tender, you of all people know the past can not be undone. You also know that we can preserve history and trying to repair part of the damage to that legacy is the best option right now. It is the only way to keep your people's stories whole."

GM Bret |

No GM comment on the completeness of the notes.
@Awkin: I think that you intended this to be an attempt to convince Memory Tender.
Kemchet replies "History tells us not to trust outsiders, especially those that find glory in raiding and looting."
Memory Tender does listen to what Awkin and Fifi have to say, but you are not sure if you made any progress convincing them to vote for your proposal.
Still need a Phase 3 action for Idril.
We can start Phase 4.

![]() |

I am hesitant to act. The remaining tasks Idril has zero ranks or bonuses to apply and I do not want to make things worse. If everyone thinks its ok to make a flat roll to attempt to aid someone, I will do so.

Quote:This is what I have so far:
Payah Against the Wind - Acrobatics or Intimidate - +1 Influence may or may not have one more
Emphasis added.
You can Aid if you wish. If you wish to influence, your character sheet says you have Intimidate +6.
Neither Aid nor Discovery have a consequence for failing.
Please act so that we can make progress.

Aid Another carries NO PENALTIES. The worst that can happen is you provide a +0 bonus instead of a +2 bonus.
(This is true in general; there's always something your PC can do. Playing a wizard and out of spells in a melee-focused encounter? Aid another with a dagger, DC 10, can give your front-line fighter a +2 to land thier hit.)

![]() |

Do not have kn history for Memory Tender or any of the other skills for Payah Against the Wind (Best skill: Profession (soldier), Other skills: Acrobatics, Intimidate) so I will use diplomacy Memory Tender as Payah is well covered by IDRIL and GINA.
Sadaf approaches Memory Tender.
"Dear Memory Tender, we understand that you are part of a noble lineage. For us Pathfinders history is very important and we collect it in our chronicles. I have to admit that it is unbelievably sad that in our work we damaged your historic site! I assure you that we are now trying to repair the damage!" Sadaf says with an apologetic tone.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

![]() |

Truddig continues his conversation with Payah. "Glad to hear that we have similar opinions on Cheliax and their interference around Avistan. I'm hoping you'll support our efforts to make things right between the Pathfinder Society and the Shoanti, and I'll be sure to make myself available if ever my bow can aid you against their incursions."
Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Despite that lowish roll, I think Truddig has the best bonus to influence Payah; other peoples efforts are likely best spent working on others of the Shoanti.

![]() |

Fifi, knowing they need only one more council member to win a vote, she decides to join in on Sadaf's conversation. She says-"The Society knows of your efforts to keep these lands safe, and your defenses against ill-meaning outsiders. We assure you, we are not them, and will do our best to help what we see as our allies."
Aid Diplo on Sadaf: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

GM Bret |

Fifi re-inforces Sadaf's statement. Neither is yet able to tell if they have influenced Memory Tender.
Remember you must beat the DC by 5 or have gotten the last influence point needed in order to be told an attempt was a success.
You would need to fail by 5 or more to be told of a failure.
Sadaf 4
Gina 3
Awkin 3
Truddig 4
Fifi 4
Idril 2

![]() |

It might be best to try one more for Memory Tender and one more for Lack anyone have any other thoughts
Continuing to talk to Memory Tender, "With your guidance and knowledge we will have the best chance of making reparations. Our petition to you should convey our seriousness."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

GM Bret |

Idril, the parser did 12d1 rather than 1d20 for the skill roll. Please give me a valid skill roll.
Memory Tender just nods. Awkin can not tell if this was enough to influence Memory Tender's views or not.
Sadaf 4
Gina 3
Awkin 4
Truddig 4
Fifi 4
Idril 2 Need you to roll that skill again. Messed up dice expression.

Gina is a bit bummed by how hard the Quah's have made this council, but she stokes her own resolve. This is her strength.
[b]"Memory Tender. We are here to plumb the mysteries of the past and bring that knowledge ahead with us. We have the historic items with us to return to their honored place, and we understand the mistakes that will continue to haunt our attempts to remedy them."[b]
Gina continues to talk about history, the conflicts of the past, and how the Pathfinder Society is attempting to right old slights while exploring, correcting and learning from the past.
Once daily Lore master take 20 for 27 History

GM Bret |

Memory Tender is quite impressed by Gina’s knowledge of history.
Gina thinks at this point Memory Tender will vote in favor of allowing your group to try to make amends. She also thinks that although Knowledge (History) is the easiest way to sway her, Bluff or Perform Oratory could also work.
Good use of the Lore Master.
Just Idril left for phase 4.

![]() |

So only Payal (Best skill: Profession (soldier); Other skills: Acrobatics, Intimidate) and Togimal (??? What to use) remaining!

GM Bret |

“I have my doubts that you know anything of truth.” Payah says. At that point Kemchet sees an opportunity to fan the flames as it were and it gets quite noisy for a few minutes.
Cousin to All is able to calm things down.
Idril is certain he did not influence Payah’s opinions, but still feels that intimation could be effective with her.
Failure by 5 or more, but not 10 or more.
